Summer break was over. That head led to Alina being caught up in her classes and starting on her last part of her last year here at the Academy. She was actually quiet saddened by this as it had meant she’d be seeing less of Carson when she went on to the college. That was the only bad thing about being friends with Carson – they were in different grades. But Alina wasn’t going to let that get her down. That just meant that when Alina’s Nana moved here, they’d have to get together to hang out more often. Because yes, Nana had agreed to move to Maple Hollow. Alina had brought Carson with her over Summer break and had broken the news to her Nana that she was an elemental. Her Nana hadn’t believed her at first but after Alina experimented with the breeze in front of her Nana and had blown the candles out from across the room, Nana seemed to believe her after that. And after a talk, Alina had explained it would be better if Nana lived closer to the school – for Alina’s sake. So she at least had that to look forward to. That was settled. Now it was just the get togethers with her best friend she had to plan. And she’d done one for this weekend. She’d spend the night over at Carson’s. She’d gotten used to it over break – packing had sure been easy.
After dinner, Alina had headed up to Carson’s room to change into her pjs, watching a movie with her friend. Of course, after a bit, snacks were involved. Alina moved to munch on some grapes, laying back on Carson’s bed and looking at her a bit, ”By the way, Nana wanted to know if everyone liked those cookies she sent home with you.” She sucked on a grape a bit, finishing it and looking to her friend. "So do you think the pastel hair turned out alright? Now that you were there to see them do it and everything?” Her hair had turned out mostly pink but she still had some of the other colors in there. She’d go for lighter next time. She smiled up at her friend. ”What do you think each element does on their weekends? I feel like they’d all have something different they’d be up to.” She sat up a bit, smoothing her shirt down a bit, before looking to Carson almost guiltily. ”So…did I ever tell you what happened between me and Altair?” She had all break to tell Carson, but she didn’t want to sour the mood or get her Nana involved. Now she could tell Carson and Carson would be able to have Alina’s back. Seeing as how Alina had NOT tattled to the administration about it.[/blockquote]

Summer break had come and gone so fast! From time with her own family to traveling with Alina to visit her Nana, there were not enough hours in a day to do all of the things that she wished to do before school started up again. Now they were in the last portion of their school year and homework was once again being piled on their shoulders. Carson did not mind too much but she was easily distracted by her boyfriend and other friends so homework was not always the first thing on her mind. This weekend, for instance, was more than likely going to be a 'neglect school work' time because she was spending time with Alina. A sleepover! She could not be more excited.
Dinner was over; Carson was flopped on her bed and considering finding her newest magazine (after pajamas and a movie) when the snacks came into play. She munched on a few crackers and glanced at her friend when she spoke up. "Oh, they loved them!" The girl perked up and smiled. "My brothers were probably the most excited. They were gone within two days." The family ate healthy overall considering Achelle and Renee were both in the medical field, but who could deny homemade cookies? All of them dug in and enjoyed the gift Nana had sent. "I love your hair. I think they did an awesome job. I should do that with my hair soon," Carson looked up at her forehead as best she could, toying with a few strands of hair as she thought on what sorts of crazy colors she could pull off in the future. Maybe taking Alina with her would be a good idea.
Although her mind drifted quite often and thought on random things, her friend's inquiries definitely left her wondering. She tilted her head back and looked at the ceiling. "That's a good question! I honestly have no idea. I mean, we both do pretty normal things...I think. We're just having a sleepover. Maybe Fires and Thunders do the same things." Having been placed in a school where they grew up hating the opposing elements, she tended to treat them like they were aliens or foreigners sometimes. Alina's question about Altair drew her attention, and Carson turned her head to fully look her friend in the face. "...no, you didn't. What happened?" The concern was evident in the tightness of her brow and the frown gracing her lips, but said nothing more in hopes that an answer would come soon.

Of course, the meaning behind the hang out wasn’t to try and avoid school and work, but it did, in it’s own way. It meant that Alina didn’t really have to focus on how hard homework was because she was having much too much of a good time with her best friend to really care. That’s how it was. And besides…she was a Senior in for her last stretch here, and homework always left a bad taste in her mouth anyway. It was just too hard. It had always been too hard. She was looking forward to picking classes about what she actually WANTED to learn about. She knew the work would probably harder…but Alina was sure that she would do her best. If her best wasn’t good enough, then maybe it just wasn’t for her. Smiling a bit as Carson answered her, Alina took a chip as well, nomming lightly and grinning, ”Good, I’ll let Nana know. She loves making people food and with me not being there…as soon as she found out how many people you have at your house, she spent the whole DAY making enough for you.” She giggled, moving her hair behind her shoulder after wiping off her hands. She grabbed for a nail polish bottle. At this point, she was sure the movie was only on for background noise. She blushed a bit, looking to the strands, ”It’s not exactly what I wanted…but it will fade and then it will be PERFECT.” It was still very bright and colorful…just not as light. But she supposed for the Summer months, it was fun enough. Her eyes widened in excitement. ”You should! You could put some pink streaks in your hair or get some pastel undertones or something. I think you’re beautiful as a blonde, but other colors could be fun!” As soon as Alina fully learned how to do the hair styling by herself, she would probably be offering to do people’s hair all the time. ”We might not be able to dye your hair right now, but I could braid it for you if you wanted.” She knew how to do that. She would probably have to hold off on painting her nails until that was done though. Thinking about what Carson answered with, Alina thought a bit, ”I feel like they’d be more likely to go out and have parties, while we’re more of the ones to stay in. I can’t really see Fires or thunders having a sleep over…” Unless it was Gaius. Because he seemed nice enough. But she couldn’t really see guys in general having a sleep over either. Alina’s face dropped just a bit as Carson’s did, moving up on her knees a bit, turning from her friend and pulling her shirt up so she could show Carson the burn mark that Altair had left on Alina’s porcelain skin. She waited a moment before speaking, ”I accidently ran into her…you know I can be rather clumsy sometimes. Well…she thought fighting instead of just taking my apology would be a much better option.” She put her shirt back down, showing some of the marks on her arms to Carson. ”It had to be broken up by a teacher…” Alina bit her lip, looking to her friend.[/blockquote]

As selfish as Carson could be about some things, she was still appreciative of Nana's gift. The shock of the extent of the woman's cooking was evident on her face. "The whole day? That's an awful lot of work. It was sweet of her though." She pressed her index finger to her lower lip thoughtfully, not able to imagine slaving by the oven all day to bake cookies and sweets for some one else's family. Nana was a nice woman though. "I still think it looks good! The bright colors suit you perfectly. What color do you think I should do with my hair?" Alina was probably the perfect person to ask when it came to these sorts of things and besides, Carson was quick to trust just about anyone, even with crazy hair colors.
Of course the other girl answered the question shortly after and she smiled happily. "Aww, thank you," She waved Alina off, though the complement was readily accepted. "I might go for some pink or something! You can go with me when I get it done." If a job played a part in her daily life there was no way brightly colored hair would be acceptable, but as it was she had nothing of the sort holding her back. She was excited! And the offer to have her hair braided only encouraged the smile to brighten considerably. "Yes, please! A braid would be nice." Carson instantly turned for her hair to face Alina, brushing her fingers through it briefly to relieve it of any tangles that might be lurking.
"But why not?" The Water asked innocently, tilting her head to the side. "I don't like them because of their element, but I would think girls do what girls do even if they are Fire or Thunder. I can't say for sure, though. You might be right." She didn't know any of the opposing elements personally nor were they friends, so assumptions were going to remain just that.
When Alina moved away from her, Carson turned her head in time to see the mark on her friend's skin. She let out a low 'owwww!' before reaching out to examine it closely. It looked painful. Her brows knit together in irritation. "I'm not surprised at all." The response was clipped, but not in anger towards Alina. No, she knew that Altair was not a friendly sort. "Their tempers are so awful sometimes! I'm just glad that you didn't get worse than that." She pulled her hand away and sighed, frowning. "And it's a good thing a teacher came along. Does it still hurt?" What if they hadn't? No, no she was not even going to think about the damage that could have been done had Altair been given more time to assault the poor Wind girl. Instead of letting the conversation progress further into the fight, she readjusted herself and offered up a supportive half smile. "Once my hair is done, we can definitely paint our nails together. Do you want me to do your toes?" She pointed towards Alina's feet and giggled, no longer paying attention to the TV.

Alina nodded to answer Carson’s question. ”She likes to make sure she puts enough of herself into things. And sometimes she’ll make more than one batch for other people as well. It’s not like work to her, it’s more like a hobby.” Alina didn’t know – she’d never really been able to pick up on all the cooking and baking. She could follow instructions, but that was really it. Her passion wasn’t in cooking and baking, it was in sewing and design. And maybe hair. She smiled a bit, ”Well thank you. I’m just glad you know I color my hair because I get bored with it, not for ‘attention’.” She laughed, looking to her hair a bit. So many different colors, it had taken the lady forever. She was just glad Carson had been patient. They had had fun looking through the hair style books anyways. She grinned, ”You’re welcome.” Carson was one of those people who deserved compliments. She needed to hear them more often. Because she was beautiful and Alina liked to tell people they were. Just as a reminder. ”Definitely pink, or maybe some light lilac-y purple. And OF COURSE I’ll come with you. I wanna see the outcome, I want to be the first!” She giggled. It wasn’t as if she was rubbing off on her friend…but maybe a little. Just a teeny bit. She smiled a bit as Carson moved, letting her fingers move gently through Carrie’s hair, in that way that feels really good. She would make Carson look BEAUTIFUL. While sectioning out Carson’s hair, Alina had to think about her reasoning. ”I dunno, it’s just odd.” She shook her head a bit, ”I don’t like them because they’re mean. It’s not just their element, they just have NASTY attitudes. But you know, you’re probably right. You’re always right, Carson.” Alina smiled a bit to herself, weaving the strands of Carrie’s hair together. ”I dunno, it’s just hard to picture a fire sitting around braiding someone’s hair and watching a movie, that’s all. Maybe just for me, it’s hard.” She didn’t know if Carson had had a run in with a fire, but it wasn’t pleasant. Alina had made sure to have Carson hold the braid while she showed the damage. She tensed a bit as Carson touched it, looking over the girl a bit. ”Should I have known better? I mean, I didn’t know that simply accidently bumping into someone could be so…dangerous.” She pouted lightly. ”Well…I could’ve. I almost did.” At the time, she hadn’t been happy about the teacher, just because she had to serve a detention for simply defending herself. ”A little, but I’m fine… I’m fine.” She shook her head before moving to finish up Carson’s hair. She smiled, letting out a little laugh, ”Of course. I want a nice silver color, I think that would be fun. Or mint green. And certainly, you may paint my toes!” She wiggled her toes a bit with a giggle, moving to fasten Carson’s hair with a tie and smiling, ”There. All finished. What color are you going to want?”[/blockquote]

Carson clasped her hands together in excitement. "Okay! I'd love for you to go. What do you think about a reddish color? I think it would be really pretty, but I want my best friend's opinion too." She trusted quickly and attached to others even quicker, so those she hung around were likely to be asked for their thoughts on things she did. That didn't mean she followed their suggestions but it was nice to have them anyway. She closed her eyes as Alina ran her hands through her blonde hair. Carson allowed that time to think on her friend's words, somewhat agreeing. "Yeah, most of them do seem to be pretty mean," She said, enjoying the braiding process. "I'm glad you think I'm always right but I really can't say for sure on this one. Most of our interactions with them are negative because they don't like us either, so..." She wasn't sure where she was going with the sentence, distracted by the hair touching. The sides were always at odds so they automatically hated one another, even if some of them might be nice. Might. "It's definitely not easy to see them as good people most of the time." More than sometimes for a good portion of people. Did she like Thunders and Fires? No, but that's how things were. It's how it had always been.
Speaking of Fires, Carson wore a frown of concern as she looked over Alina's injury. That definitely looked uncomfortable. "It shouldn't be dangerous! That's so ridiculous. Altair has some serious issues. Accidents happen, so she should've just let it go." Was that too much to ask? Probably considering who it was Alina dealt with. No wonder her friend had issues seeing any positive traits in the opposing elements. She sighed quietly in relief. "Good, because if you aren't I'll go and take her on!" She put up her fists as though ready for a fist fight, then put them down and smiled a little. She just wanted to ease any negativity Alina felt. It was good to be moving on towards nail painting and other sleepover things. "Okay, maybe you can do silver and mint green?" Carson suggested happily, finding the nail polish. "You can do one silver, then one mint green, then one silver, and so on! Or you could do your fingernails silver and your toes mint green, or something." There were so many options! It excited the girl to be able to have this one on one girl time and relax for the evening. Even the smell of nail polish was nice. She fiddled with her hair after it was done and tossed it back and forth a little with a giggle. "I love it, thank you!" She replied with a smile before pondering over which colors she would want. "Uhm, let's go with pink! Like, a nice hot pink."
[I'm sorry it took a while! .__. I forget that our thread is way down at the bottom so I always seem to pass over it.]

Alina had to think for a second. She looked over Carson’s blonde hair. It would be a big change, going red. She thought a bit, before looking to Carson, ”I think you’d be a beautiful red head. I mean, as long as you’re prepared to take on the responsibility of all the CARE you have to put into red hair, but other than that, I think you could exponentially pull it off.” Exponentially was a big amount, right? Alina had known it meant ‘a lot’ or something around there. It was a big word, it had to mean a big amount. ”Were you thinking red over any other color?” Red seemed like it had made quite an impression on Carson’s mind. So much for pink or lilac, this blonde was going to go all out. Alina nodded, almost as if to re-agree with herself. ”I haven’t met a nice fire or thunder yet. I mean…besides Gaius. Oh Carson, he was wonderfully nice.” She had quite liked meeting him and spending the time with him that she had. He had been every inch the gentleman. Sure had surprised her. She just nodded a bit, ”I guess we’ll never know, hm?” She kept up her actions with her fingers, slowing slowly and leaving Carson’s hair be. ”They’d have to try really hard. But I feel like none of them would have the patience for that.” She shrugged lightly. She had some slight hope for them, but not much. ”I wish I would’ve known about these issues BEFORE bumping into her. Would’ve saved me some trouble.” Alina didn’t need trouble, she was just trying to get through school in one piece without having some sort of epic break down. ”I apologized countless times but she wouldn’t hear any of it. It was like she had turned her ears off or something.” After that, yes, Alina’s liking of the other, harsher elements wasn’t very high. And her outlook for them was dim. But in order to keep Karma happy, she had to deal with it and make sure she gave them nothing to put her at fault with. She shook her head quickly, ”Oh NO Carson, you mustn’t do that. It’s behind me now. I don’t want to get into more trouble.” She made a face, shaking her head. ”All behind us. New things. Positive things. We need happy things, Carrie, happy!” She giggled a bit. Her eyes widened, ”Oooh that would be really cool looking together, wouldn’t it?” She thought a bit. ”I’ll do one silver, and the rest mint green with silver accents or something. Something! And my toes the same way. Or all silver because then they’ll go with everything.” She grinned a bit. ”You should do mine later.” She moved for the hot pink, looking at her. So are you doing my toes and I do a hand of yours and then we switch?” Alina burst into giggles at that. So confusing.[/blockquote]
