POSITIVE TRAITS
- OPTIMISTIC -- actually, 'pessimism' is a word not found in his vocabulary. He has always kept a positive outlook on life, choosing to believe in the best in people and believing that everyone is inherently good; if they don't get along, it's not because the other is a bad person, they're just not a good fit. While this is sometimes mistaken for naivety, Teddy's optimism is slightly different -- to him, it just takes too much energy to be negative about everything, and who wants to willingly spend all of their time angry or upset? Not him.
- CLEVER – Maybe because of his upbringing, maybe because he takes after his father, but either way, Teddy usually looked at problems and situations in a drastically different light than most people his age. He wouldn't call it being smart, really -- just being able to look outside the box and approaching problems in different angles have helped him get over his few obstacles while learning at the Academy. Some people tended to keep repeating the failproof way of getting something accomplished when all else failed -- Teddy poked and prodded at it until an alternative came up.
- FRIENDLY -- Not to say that he's friends with every single person on campus, but Teddy's a genuine people person driven by the fact that he's always curious about people's lives. He's that random guy you're stuck with in the elevator, making small-talk about how stupid the weather's being. He's the kind of guy who'll go out of his way to say hi, hello, how are you? to anyone new or that he hasn't seen before. And at the very least, he's the doof walking around campus with a permanent smile etched on his face.
- UNDERSTANDING -- "Understanding" in a less traditional way, perhaps -- Teddy is very aware of just who he is, and so because of that, he holds himself and the people around him to his own set of morals and values. But, seeing as every person is different, he doesn't think it's necessary to lecture people and berate them for the choices they made (unless we're talking horrific, like murdering someone or something). Put it in a better way, if you're his friend and he gives you advice, but you choose not to take it and it ends up blowing up in your face, he's not the type to laugh at you and say, "I told you so." Rather, he'd just pick you back up and start brainstorming for the next step.
NEGATIVE TRAITS
- GULLIBLE -- He won't believe the basics -- it's pretty obvious that grass is green and the sky is blue, but seriously, Teddy is the prime target if you're into pranking anybody, and at this point, people get into pranking wars with him just to see what sorts of pranks come out of it, not who falls for them most because Teddy will undoubtedly lose. He's really asking for it, though, since it's a byproduct of believing in the good of all people. At least he can give back as much as he can take...
- EASILY ENAMORED -- To clarify, this doesn't mean he's easy. It really just means that he falls in and out of "crush mode" really, really easy. It can be based on anything -- looks, the smell of the girl's perfume, a great and intellectual conversation, literally anything, and it comes on strong. But not only does he crush easy, he's completely hopeless with girls. Once he gets the thought that he actually likes the girl in his mind, the next time he sees her, he's a complete idiot. He babbles and blushes and can barely get two words out, so it all goes downhill from there. It's a vicious cycle he doesn't really know how to get out of.
- STUBBORN -- This really goes hand-in-hand with his being self-aware, but once he has his mind set on something, it's really hard to change his mind. You can debate him all you want and you can present all sorts of logical and emotional evidence to convince him otherwise, and he will pay attention and accept your position, but agreeing with it is one thing altogether. Because of how rooted he is in his own beliefs and who he is, he's adapted the mindset of, "It's cool that it works for you, but it's just not my thing," and it can be about anything -- calling soda 'soda' or 'pop', what goes best on a bagel -- he's just set in his ways.
- CAN'T SAY NO -- Teddy is a sweetheart by nature, and he also wants to make sure that all of his friends get by without any issues, so he tends to bend over backwards to help out the people he really cares about. He kind of considers his mission in life to be to help out people as much as he can, and he's more than okay with making sacrifices in order to make sure everyone stays happy. This obviously tends to him being walked all over, but he's also sort of oblivious to that sort of thing.

BEST MEMORY His family when he was little, around 5 or 6, playing in the backyard of their house. There was water generated by his mother, there were hot dogs and hamburgers cooked up by his father, but most importantly, there were mud bombs and his little brother. Amidst a lot of happy times, it's the one he keeps coming back to for some reason.
WORST MEMORY When the train his mother usually takes to and from work derailed, right around the time that she would have been on it. He freaked out for a few hours before a call from his mom finally came through, telling him that she was okay, she wasn't even on the train since she had to stay late at work. Not exactly earth shattering, but it definitely shook him up quite a bit.
LONG-TERM GOAL To become a photojournalist and have at least one picture of his be featured in TIME Magazine.

HISTORY Teddy's history is neither long or complicated. This is mostly because, elemental ability aside, his and his family's life have been perfectly and completely normal.
His mother, Zoe, is also a water elemental. Fun-loving and slightly feisty, she decided to go to a regular college after she was done with the Academy; while she had enjoyed her time learning how to control her skills, she didn't want them to dictate everything about her -- after all, there was more to the world than just Maple Hollow. Packing her bags and bidding her parents a fond farewell, Zoe moved out of the outskirts of Maple Hollow and to Toronto for college, choosing advertising as her major. She soon forgot about the years she spent in Maple Hollow and instead, threw herself into traditional academia, making friends fast and only using her power in the absolute privacy of her own home. She soon graduated, found a job at an advertising agency in New York City, relocated, and was soon on her way up the corporate ladder.
On the other hand and pretty much simultaneously, Zachery spent all of his higher education at the academy, getting a good, solid grasp on his own element, wind. However, he had always loved photography and was pretty damn good at it, even though it was all self-trained, so whenever he wasn't studying and practicing elemental theory, he was taking pictures anywhere and everywhere. Upon graduating, he forewent finding a proper job and instead, embarked on a journey across the continent with his car and camera. Most called it stupid -- he called it 'artistically freeing'.
One fateful summer day during his trip brought Zachery from the woods of Connecticut to New York City, wandering around Bryant Park, taking photos of whatever he found interesting that crept into view. One of these things happened to be the nice patch of orchids growing from its box and as he positioned himself to get a better shot, he didn't realize he was cramping a girl's definition of personal space until he was practically in her lap. As he apologized for infringing on her lap, he recognized her face as Zoe had been a year older than him during their high school years at the Academy, and after an hour of nostalgia and upon the realization that NYC was the last place they'd expect to find another elemental -- and one they knew, nonetheless! -- he and Zoe soon became friends. When he went back on his cross-continent road trip, he sent her pictures and letters and, soon enough, the friendship gave way to something resembling romance, to full-blown romance, to love. The rest, as they say, is history.
Well, their history at any rate. Deciding to move back to Canada a short while after their marriage, Teddy was born in Ottawa on August 18th. While his mother continued her job at a local advertising agency, she never hesitated to make time for him and his little brother, and his coupled with having a father that was quiet, mellow, and calm, Teddy was a happy and amiable kid, something he would carry on with him through most of his years. Growing up, he did pretty average in school -- well enough to not get in trouble with his parents, but not good enough to be pretty forgettable when paired up with those gifted & talented kids. This suited him just fine, if only because he must have inherited his father's creativity gene and was completely consumed by following in his father's photography footsteps.
But eventually, the day where his parents told him about his ability came, and this left Teddy with several options. His parents had chosen to hide it from their children at first, instead choosing to tell them when they began to exhibit signs of having the power, just in case it skipped a generation. Teddy took the news of having a power pretty well ("THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER!!!!" upon watching his mother effectively soak the pet dog with a few waves of her hand), but took the news of having to go to a boarding school pretty badly ("What about all my friends? My life is here! My girlfriend!" "You don't have a girlfriend." "Well, I could!"), and while his father was all right with him not going to the Academy and staying in town, his mother wouldn't hear any of it. Eventually, it came down to what the safest thing would be, and having an elemental not in some sort of control over their power meant the potential of being discovered by society, and that was out of the picture.
So when Teddy was fourteen, he packed up his bags and was on his way to Maple Hollow, the place where both his parents grew up, honing their talent.
He hated it at first, relying on his innate curiosity and the bare minimum to get by. He proved to be the same academia-wise at first -- he did well, but wasn't entirely consumed by the need to be the best, though this began to change somewhere in his junior year when faced with the creation of their element, and how he couldn't get a grasp of it no matter how much he practiced. Perhaps it was in this sudden falling behind that made Teddy realize that he wanted to do better. He began to practice even more, even stopped hanging out with friends, which was almost unheard of as Teddy usually took any chance to hang out with his friends. He spent half of his summer break in the backyard of his house practicing, desperate to catch up, and it all paid off when, at the start of 12th year, he could summon currents and puddles with the best of them. Hating to lose, he kept up his practice habits all throughout 12th grade, and Teddy finally made the decision to keep going with it and enroll in the Academy's college.
It's been two years since then, and Teddy is in his junior year of college at the Academy, putting off his desire to attend regular college off for now -- after all, there's plenty of schools that offer photojournalism as a major, but only one school in the world that teaches something like this, something that is a part of Teddy as much as his love for photography is. He now dives head-first into his schooling, declaring an English major at the Academy while working on mastering his craft, and secretly is trying to take the resistance training course as many times as the Academy will allow.

YOUR NAME Jocelyn
YOUR AGE Indeed, I am over 13!
RP EXPERIENCE Lots and lots of years.
HOW'D YOU FIND US? An!
SECRET WORD Correct.
RP SAMPLEteddy swatted taylor's hands away from his hair, laughing in the process. "oi, no! stop, don't fuss with my hair. i have ideas for it!" teddy said, ducking this way and that before stopping and taking a good look at taylor. he examined him closely, poking here and there, and then made a hmmm sort of sound, cocking his head to the side as he considered his brother's appearance. when he was done, teddy frowned and shoved his hands in his pockets. "you're not eating right."
all right. to say that teddy babied his brother -- well, there was probably some truth in that. but teddy also did the same to his little sister, but taylor was...taylor. even from a young age, taylor always tried so hard to be independent and to do things himself. it was a little unnerving for teddy, honestly; in more than a few ways, taylor was probably more mature and 'grown up' than teddy was. and teddy's been scolded more than a few times to just let his little brother do things the way he wanted and to take care of himself, but they weren't around when it seemed like taylor didn't think to care for himself -- so long as he was on a path that would get him ahead. maybe it was his responsibility, and maybe it wasn't, but even though most people thought he was a little overboard, he figured there were worse things he could be.
so, eventually, teddy became 'mom' and while most guys his age would hate being called that, teddy didn't really mind it all that much because it really was true. besides, taylor was the one that was going to be going places, moving up in the world. teddy spent too much of his life messing around with the frat and the head of the house to really want a nice, stable job with no excitement and a glittery, shimmery white picket fence. and maybe teddy was smart, but taylor was tenacious, and in the long run, that's all you really needed to succeed. he was proud of his little bro, proud of the fact that taylor was everything that he wasn't and that he knew he wasn't. besides, it took a lot to deal with a house full of assholes who hated you only because of who your parents were. or in this case, weren't. and that, honestly speaking, was already more than anything teddy could even envision putting himself through.
he smacked the back of taylor's head at the less-than-enthusiastic greeting. "that's the hi i get? i thought it was in the rules to treat me like your king." teddy joked, slinging an arm around the other boy. "how's life in the dead camp? heard any new insults lately?"
