Tal looked around furtively as she limped lightly into the Medical Wing trying her best not to be noticed. She'd had a run-in with a few Thunder and Fire students who had tried to cow her into tears. She'd lifted her chin and took their insults and refused to show emotion. They hadn't liked that. Now Tallulah was sneaking around trying to get to a mirror and some antiseptic before anyone noticed she was missing. Or you know, just noticed her in general. Usually she was very good at keeping to the edges of a crowd, being avoided until someone wanted her undivided attention. Today she obviously hadn't been as lucky.
The lithe brunette made her way into one of the rooms and spotted a mirror on the wall. Tal paused before turning to look in the mirror, half afraid of what she would see. The sting on her cheekbone was because the left side of her face was scraped up pretty well from the stone wall she'd been shoved into while the group of girls was walking away. Sometimes it just happened, not because they were angry with Tal exactly, more because they were angry in general and hadn't learned how to reign in their emotions and control themselves. Some of them had never been expected to. It was mostly their parents fault for not teaching them proper manners.
Tal took a deep breath and stripped off her coat, laying it across a chair as she started to rummage through drawers for something to clean her face up with. If she left her hair down after it was all cleaned off and taped up it shouldn't be too noticeable ... hopefully. Maybe it was just wishful thinking. Maybe if she'd pushed past the girls to go down the stairs instead of stopping when she was surrounded ... maybe if wishes were horses. Whatever that saying actually meant. The brunette pulled her hair back, wrapping a hairband around it to form a messy bun the long fall out of her face, and took stock of her injuries. She'd stumbled and wrenched her bad ankle, scraped up her cheek and banged her shoulder. All in all it could have been a lot worse so it was time to stop feeling sorry for herself and get to work.
The Water Elemental opened the bottle of alcohol (the only thing she'd been able to find) and poured some onto a cotton ball and then stared at the cotton ball. And continued to stare at the cotton ball. She really didn't like the idea of pain. Sure her ankle acted up often enough, in fact wrenching it while stumbling down a few stair steps and scraping your face against the wall hurt quite a lot, but it was a pain she didn't have control of. This was going to sting a lot and she was going to do it to herself. The girl took a deep breath and dabbed the cotton against her cheek, making a high pitched moaning noise as she repeated the process a few more times. Why did it have to hurt so much? "Ow ow ow ow owww,"
She dropped the alcohol and blood covered swab and shook her hands out as she keened her distress for a few more moments before stealing herself up and putting more alcohol on another swab and repeating the process. "Jiminy Cricket sucking fudgecicles!" She shouted as she finished, hopping on one foot because her ankle still hurt. She made a few more whining noises before stopping and leaning against the counter. Next, next time she would run away. Nothing wrong with running away ... even if it did usually mean they'd chase you down and make it worse. Ok, so she'd probably be standing and taking it again next time to.
Tallulah swallowed as she stared at herself in the mirror, antiseptic in hand. With her hair pulled back and she could easily see the shoulder that was nice and red and likely going to turn a pretty shade of purple in a few hours. It was no wonder her father didn't pay any attention to her. She was pathetic. Maybe it would have been better if someone else had been the one to live that night. Tal couldn't help the intense sadness that filled her and poured over her face. Usually she was so good at smiling and saying everything was alright that even she started to beleive it. Now, as she gently rubbed on the antiseptic, all she could see was a mistake.

It made him sick to the stomach to simply stand and watch as the group of girls picked on that water elemental. He had watched the whole situation and there seemed to be no good reason to pick on her. She didn’t do anything to them, so why did they have to do that? Leaning against the wall, he simply stared down at ground, trying to keep himself from doing anything. If he weren’t a thunder elemental, he would’ve for sure interfered. But he was one, and there were too many fire and thunder elementals. Standing up for her would surely give him some negative attention in his alliance. He didn’t want that, though it was very hard to simply do nothing.
His pencil that was clenched in his fist snapped in half as he heard the group of girls walk away. Now was the time to look at the results of the bullying. Looking up, he stared at the group of girls as they walked by. ”Did she really deserve it?” he said, loud enough so they could hear him. They simply gave him a weird look and returned to their bitchy conversation. He didn’t expect anything else. Now it was time to go track down that girl and apologize for his element. It kind of sucked to be a thunder elemental, because the thunder elemental reputation was his reputation. He honestly didn’t want to be considered similar to those bitches. He was nothing like them. He’d never be.
Starting to walk away, Ben noticed another thunder elemental give him a look as well. He guessed that was how it is. Defend another element and you get shunned by everyone else. So be it. Well, at least he didn’t cause that much attention. The other thunder and fire elementals he walked by didn’t even look at him. Good, the less attention the better. Anyways, the tenth grader followed the girl from a far enough distance so it didn’t look like he was following her, but short enough where he couldn’t lose sight of her.
The thunder elemental followed her into the medical wing. So she got hurt, eh? That just made everything better, didn’t it? He really needed to apologize for the thunder elementals now. This was a little out of character, even for him. He didn’t like confronting others who he didn’t know. Well, actually, it wasn’t that he didn’t like them; it was just that he felt really awkward. The brunette was just picked on for no absolute reason. He could understand it if she was the one who brought it on, but she didn’t do anything. An apology was necessary.
Ben followed the girl to her room, but stayed outside, out of sight. He was starting to have second thoughts. What if she yelled at him or something? What if she told him to get lost? He didn’t want to make her angry. If he were in her shoes, he would already be in a bad mood. Oh well, at least he could say he tried, right? He’d feel better if he did it anyway.
The sophomore didn’t walk into the room yet. He heard her. The water elemental was in pain. She was probably fixing herself up. He didn’t want to interrupt her. Once the horrible sounds of pain died off, Ben knocked on the wall right next to the door and simply stood in the open door way. The sight of her made things a whole lot worse. Obviously, the group of girls had done some damage to the brunette. Hopefully, even though he was a thunder elemental, she wouldn’t treat him like he was on their side. ”Hey, are you okay?” Benny asked with no expression on his face. ”It looked like it was pretty rough back there.”
