Their was a bite to the air today and Tallulah hated when that twinge that said weather was changing happened. It made her ankle ache like an old man's weather wound. She pressed on, breathing evenly and glad she'd put on her sweatpants this morning, even if they were well splattered with paint and glitter and glue. Her ponytail bounced against her back in time to the staccato beat of her steps which matched the rhythm of the music pulsing in her ears. It was the best part about running with Ben, he didn't want to talk and gossip or whatever. She didn't feel uncomfortable running beside him while listening to her ipod. Another twinge in her ankle and she slowed down, catching Ben's eye as she pulled her ear buds out and let them dangle down her shoulders as she panted lightly.
"I gotta pause for a sec," She walked over to a nearby bench (the park was riddled with the things) and sat down, pulling her leg up so she could rub her ankle. She had a support brace for it in case of the odd twinge like this, but she never had the thing on her when she could use it. A quick break and she should be fine though. She looked up at the sky, watching the sunlight chase the darker shades of blue away. It was amazing just how many colors the sky could turn. A thousand shades of blue and orange and purple and yellow. It was why she hated painting the sky, she could never get those amazing shades or the right shading. It drove her nuts sometimes, trying to find that right shade.
The brunette pulled her ponytail tighter and looked over at her friend, a serious expression on her face as she looked up at him. "I don't know if I've ever told you this before ... but you have part of a pine cone in your hair." She continued to stare at him with that serious expression before a smile cracked over her face and she shook her head in amusement. To be fair with all the bushes they'd cut through while using the smaller trails, she probably had leaves and pine needles in her hair too.
Tallulah stopped rubbing her ankle to stretch her leg out in front of her and rotate her foot and ankle. She was hoping it would pop and suddenly feel better but she wasn't that lucky. She brought her leg up again, resting her cheek on her knee. "It's gonna be a few minutes, sorry Ben," She smiled ruefully up at him and idly ran her fingers over the puckered scars she could feel through her sock.
