Autumn. It wasn't Arielle's favorite season, but it was her favorite month of the season, though. It was perfect for her sake. It wasn't too cold to start wearing long sleeves, nor was it too hot to wear short shorts. It was perfect as it was, and if the months could stay at the same temperature, that would be great.
Ari thought this as she looked down out of the windows to see the people walk to and fro. She tried opening the window to get some air in this small space, but to no luck. They were hard to budge, making the young woman think they weren't supposed to be moved.
Why was she up there, one might ask. She's actually waiting for someone to show up. No, she didn't plan to meet this said girl here, she just knew the girl's schedule. Every week, the girl would come up here all alone, around this time, and just sit up here, thinking about who knows what.
The thing was, Ari has been watching this girl for a while. Not in a stalking sort of way, it was just as observation. The girl had a look about her; a look only Ari could recognize. It was look of pain, betrayal, and abuse. The latter of the list was what Ari felt the most vibe. She hoped that she could be wrong; hoped that it was just her inner past coming out, but the look the girl had told her otherwise. It told her that she had no one to vent to, no one to relate. Well, that's why this Earth girl is here for. She's here to be a shoulder for either support, or to cry on.

It was enclosed and normally dim, which she did like, but it was cramped, and only had one way out, which she didn't like. If another person were to find her up there, she wouldn't be very able to escape and find some solitude. Which she needed more and more often recently. The young woman had been spending much more time than usual with people, so under normal circumstances she was acting more reclusive, less able to deal with strangers and less able to keep her cool under pressure. She wasn't sure whether it was better or worse than loneliness. But it was something.
One thing Deirdra did like about the tower was that she could see for miles. Though she was too far away from any of the plants to be able to control them, it still made a ghost of a smile appear on her face to see the expanse of nature. Better to be within it, but on cooler days, especially before she had gotten out her warmer clothes yet, it wasn't too much of a step down to view the terrain from afar. And Deirdra...well, she needed a change of scenery. And a place where neither Nell nor Ace would find her.
So the earth student climbed the many steps up the tower, taking her own sweet time, stopping at almost every window to glance out and see the landscape from a different angle. In her right hand, she loosely held one paw of the stuffed black cat Ace had bought for her. More often than not she would have it on her person these days, finding it's soft, fake fur rather soothing when she felt stressed. It had been better than messing with her bandages, or—after they were removed—her raw skin. And as she became less comfortable with her surroundings, she felt the need to have a stress reliever near at hand more and more.
Unfortunately, someone else had decided to take refuge here on the cool afternoon. Deirdra rounded a corner and stopped in her tracks, frowning at the other woman before her. Arielle. A graduate, but only just. Dierdra had seen her around, heard her name used in the dorms. It wasn't hard for a person like her to catch on. But they'd never really spoken. And Dee, she didn't much feel like company right now. ”Oh.” She found herself saying blankly, her grip on the cat tightening a bit. ”I'm sorry.” And she turned, meaning to leave Ari alone for now.

Arielle was stuck in her thoughts when she heard footsteps on the staircase near her. Oh, well it must be my guest! She hope it was, or it will be awkward for them both. While listening as the footfalls drawing closer and closer, she thought of how to great her. Do I greet her as soon as she comes in? No...that would be veery creepy. I'd run away from me.... Hmm, what about I pretend to not see her? Then she'd probably turn back around or something.
Ari didn't get enough time to think of her next method when the girl came in, completely unaware that someone was up here, waiting just for her. The girl looked up at her, clearly startled, and mumbled an apology. Yet, that didn't register with the young woman just yet.
Ari was transfixed on the face that she recognized. It use to belong to her own, before she received help. Up close, she's a lot more like me than I thought. Her heart ache for her as she thought of her own dilemma that happened years ago. She was only a child, but the man that took away her innocence didn't care. Apparently, he didn't think of her as anything, except a quickie...
But enough about Ari, and more about the girl before her. Before she turned away completely, Ari stuttered out an "W-wait. Don't go!" Smiling softly at the student, she said "It's okay. You can stay if you like. I would like the company." She then looked away from her and out towards the window, as if not to put pressure on the girl.
