Charlee was sitting on a very high boulder with flames coming out of different fingers making a pattern or 'rhythm' as she liked to call it. It was nice outside, she was in shade, the sun was going down and the sky looked beautiful. So why wasn't she happy? she clenched her fist and the flames where gone. She ran her fingers threw her hair and sighed "Fuck me" she hoped down to a smaller boulder and again to smaller one till she reached flat ground. Charlee had no friends, nobody to talk to and she was a emotional wreck. She was angry with her mother for dating other men. She was sad that her dad was never coming back, she was happy her stamina was building up...but she couldn't figure out the one other emotion.
It wasn't love or hate, it wasn't loneliness. Maybe it wasn't an emotion at all. Maybe it was something more. Jealousy? Yes, it was. It was envy for all the people that had love, and had friends and had a nice family. What did she have? Her power and a rich mom that paid almost no attention to her anymore. She took off her Led Zeppelin backpack and took out her phone, six thirty. She figured she better start walking back towards the Academy. She took out a cigarette and light it, took a long drag off of it and felt better instantly. She just needed to stop thinking about things so in depth. She started walking back slowly enjoying her time.
After a while of walking it started to get darker. She made a small flame from her palm and continued to walk. She heard a crack to the right and stopped. The flame grew and she looked around, nobody was near as far as she could tell so she kept walking. When she heard it again she got on the defense "Hello?" she looked around again and saw nothing. Charlee figured she was over analyzing the sounds of nature and forgot about it once again. Until she heard a laugh then she turned around and yelled "What the hell do you want?!" She clenched her fists and put them to both to her sides with flames coming out of the bottom. She knew she was losing her temper over something small but she didn't care. She examined her surroundings and then mimicked them with the most sarcasm she had. "HaHa."

As long as he stayed away from the edge that overlooked the lake, Joshua found that he quite liked hanging around the cliffs. Not too many people came up here on a regular basis unless there was some sort of a party and as tonight was a school night, there was not too much commotion going on. He sat down on one rock in the shadow of another and started messing around with the applications on his phone, including the random and pointless ones that he had bought, once upon a time, just because. It was weird not having money to buy pointless things any more. Dirty rich to dirt poor in a matter of minutes and for what? His girlfriend, and that was why he couldn't just go crawling back to his father, tail tucked between his legs as he begged for the man to let him come back home. No, he doubted that he would do that even if Nell wasn't the reason he was staying away. Donovan had controlled his life for too long now.
Sighing, he started to grow bored of his time wasting and went back to the main screen of the phone. He blinked a little in surprise at the time--he had stayed out a bit longer than he was intending. He checked his new text messages and saw that his mother had asked him to call. He hesitated for a moment, wondering whether it would be a good idea to get in contact with her right then and there. Patricia had been terribly angry with him when he'd ignored her before (hell, she'd showed up at Nell's apartment and called him out for it) but he wasn't really sure what he'd say to her. He weighed his options for a moment, then shrugged and hit the 'call' option as he started to walk slowly back in the direction of the Academy. He didn't get anything on the first try, only her answering machine. He debated on leaving a message telling her he had called but chickened out and merely pocketed the phone. Picking up a rock, he tossed it at the cliff face, hearing the satisfying crack as its brittle and thin surface shattered apart when coming in contact with the tougher rock.
He did not hear the girl call out, for at that moment he had pulled his phone from his pocket and dialled the number again. He continued to walk as his mother finally answered. "Joshua! I was worried you wouldn't call and I couldn't find my phone when I heard it ring--I think Eris must have batted it under the couch, because that's where I found it." Amused by this, it coaxed a slight laugh out of Joshua. He refrained from answering when someone's voice shattered the silence. "What was that?" Trish asked in alarm. "Josh, is everything alright?" He didn't immediately answer, alarmed by whomever the hell it was and unsure of where on the cliffs they were. Nearby, by the sound of it, but the area was a maze of boulders and stunted trees that grew out of cracks in the ground. "I'll call you back," he promised Patricia, hanging up before she could protest.
It was the warmth from the flames that helped him to find the perpetrator, and he gave him a hard glare when he came into view. "I do hope that wasn't me you were yelling at," he said in a none-too-pleasant tone. He thought she looked slightly familiar but couldn't really put his finger on whether he knew her from class, the dormitories, or whether he'd just seen her around. He figured they weren't personally acquainted. "If it was, I just might have something to say about that. Do you mind? I was on the phone." He didn't much appreciate being mocked.
