Ooh, visited family in London? Nell leaned forward with interest. She especially loved learning about foreign countries, having her own Spanish pride. ”Have you been there before?” she inquired, tilting her head. Then, she thought of a better question to ask. ”Is that where you’re from?” Nell figured the girl was British. Another reason she loved the Academy so much was because of all the different types of people. She’d met a few other Brits—Altair and Tyson came to mind. One that she steered clear of and the other she didn’t even know where she even stood with. Nell wondered if her accent was prominent, but it really only became noticeable with words like “dog” and anything else involving o’s. She didn’t know whether she wanted to assimilate or not. Sometimes she had a lot of pride in the city that used to be her hell. Because she just had to remember that it wasn’t the place that hurt her—it was the people.
”Hmm…well, I went to the Maritimes with my boyfriend and his family,” she said, glad that she could talk about personal things now. As long as it didn’t involve America or what happened between ages zero and seventeen, she was good. Nell didn’t mention the allergy she found out she had at a buffet in Newfoundland—that was too much a weakness, and like most everyone else, she had too much pride to reveal weakness. But so little pride in a lot of other things. ”And I hiked, fished, the good old summertime joys.” While some like to spend the summer with their family, Nell tried her best to avoid León. ”Summer’s not over yet, though,” she said, gazing out one of the Academy’s large windows. Turning her light brown eyes to Mina, she asked, ”How about doing something to finish up the season? I love just going on adventures, I’m sure we can find something.” Even though she’d just met the Wind girl, she was willing to do anything with her.

Aramina began to laugh to herself a little. It wasn't every day that someone wanted to know so much about you in such a small amount of time. Even though, at the same time, she was really happy that someone actually wanted to know more about her then just asking what element she was. "Yes, I was born in London but moved with my brother and his wife when some stuff happened. It's kinda a long story if you ask me." Looking back down at her food she scooped up some more and just ate as she was just waiting for Nell to ask her what had happened and why she hadn't mentioned her parents yet. 'Time will only tell' She thought to herself as she waited for her friend to answer her previously asked question.
"Sounds like you did even more than I did and it also sounds like it was a lot of fun." She said with a massive smile on her face. She was just thinking about what it was like to see her brother again. If there was one thing that Aramina caught it would be home-sickness and after a year away, she was glad to she her brother and sister-in-law again, despite the many many looks she got when ever they went into town to get anything from the kids that she used to go to school with. That was something that she wished she could get taken out of her memory.
Her train of thought had been stopped by Nell saying some, or at least starting to say something. Catching the last three quarters of what she had said, Aramina started to smile. No one had really ever wanted to spend time with her before, so this was defiantly something new to her. In her mind, there was only one thing that Aramina could think of as an answer. "Sure!" She sort of yelled with an enthusiastic tone in her voice. "We could go to the cliffs, or to the lake, or even go to the bell tower. Wow, I must sound really weird right about now. What do you have in mind?"

Nell wondered if it was strange how exciting this information she got from Mina was to her. The girl was just so interesting to her. With a soft smile, she said, ”I’m a good audience, if you ever want to share a story.” Yes, she was a curious person and wanted to know more about Mina, but if the girl hadn’t revealed the reason she was living with her brother and sister-in-law yet- it was probably something she didn’t want to share. Which was more than fine. Everyone had their secrets and their personal lives, and it was more-than-disrepectful to try and dig into that. ”Is London nice? I’ve only seen pictures, of course. I don’t get out much.” She said the last part with a laugh, even though it was painfully true. Nell was born and raised in literal captivity—her house was a prison, and her mother the warden. Now she was free, a very rickety, tenuous freedom. One that may just disappear soon enough.
Nell leaned back as if nostalgic and said, ”Yeah, it was pretty awesome.” She chuckled a bit after that, and then realized something she hadn’t though about in the excitement of summertime—it was her first summer of freedom, and it may be her last. Her gut clenched. Why could she be so optimistic about everyone and everything else except herself? Because for her, all she saw were prison cells. Or the chair. No, she couldn’t let these thoughts surface in her conscious mind. The fact she hadn’t gone yet was because she had been stalling, after all. She didn’t want to face the music, she didn’t want to have to go to that courtroom full of people who’ve heard from the media that she’s a cold-blooded killer. Because she didn’t know if she could defend herself. There were things she could never talk about, and one of those big things was her mother. Sure, she’d told Josh about her, but not without crying or becoming somewhat closed off.
Jokingly, Nell tapped her fists against the table as if super pumped. She really was, though, but not to the obnoxious level that she’d start banging tables. Nell shook her head fervently. ”No, no, you don’t!” She leaned back again, as if considering. ”There are a lot of caverns in the cliffs we can explore. I’ve done it a few times, and it’s actually pretty spooky.” A wide grin spread across her face as if Mina’s enthusiasm was contagious. ”How about that?” she offered, biting down on her lower lip in anticipation as if this were the best thing ever.

Aramina was thankful, almost every time that told anyone about where she used to live, they always seemed to ask about her parents. For once, someone hadn't. She looked up and smiled, "Thanks, I will defiantly tell you someday. Trust me." And that was something that she did mean. Soon enough she would tell Nell about what happened on that night, so long ago. But considering the fact that she couldn't remember chunks of it herself, she couldn't tell the story properly. Her brother had been telling her bit by little bit recently when she had asked, but never all at once and that was something that Aramina, herself, was thankful for.
The next thing she knew was that Nell was asking her about London. Just thinking about the weather made Aramina laugh to herself a little. The weather over there at the present moment was not that much different to the weather over there. "London is really pretty during this time of year, mainly around where I stayed during summer. It was never really overly warm and never really cold. It was just right." And in her opinion, that was one of the best things about the place, though she wouldn't tell Nell that. Looking up she could really see that Nell really didn't know much about her country of origin, so as a quick decision she said, "You should totally come up with me some time. I have a feeling that you would really like it there." Giving the offer was something that Aramina hadn't really done before, but she hadn't really had to may friends to invite up.
The way that Nell had so much energy really transferred it's way to Aramina at this point. As soon as she had seen how pumped her friends was, Aramina herself couldn't help but feel the same. Standing up with a big smile on her face she turned around and said withe a lot of enthusiasm. "Okay then, Lets do it!" Pumping her fist in the air while trying not to look weird at the same time. "The Caverns!"

Nell simply smiled at the girl across from her. It was nice to hear a promise, because it made her feel like maybe others viewed her as a trustworthy person, someone she always tried to be. And maybe that sign on her forehead that labeled her as a murderer was just her imagination. Her past was something she didn’t like to talk about, something she really couldn’t thanks to the situation during which she left the country. She told Josh more than anyone—he knew about the murder, her father and her aunt, Tilly, and he should have inferred the abuse. But there were still things he didn’t know. How bad the abuse was, what had happened to Tilly, and most things about her mother. Because speaking about that woman was like digging up a corpse she’d rather not have to think about.
Whenever Nell found something interesting, she leaned forward and her eyes increased in size, like she was absorbing the information. And hearing about London and Mina’s experiences there…it filled her with a warm kind of feeling. ”I heard it rains a lot over in England. Is that true?” She always found the climates of different countries interesting. Canada’s winters were killer, she knew that, and in America it varied. She wondered about her grandparents’ homeland of Spain. Her father told her it was always sunny—but he was probably lying about that too. Before Nell could stop herself, she said, ”I’d love that, I’ve always wanted to go to a different country. My grandparents are from Spain, actually.” She seemed to hesitate before pulling back, her expression pensive. She’d love to go to a different country if she legally could. And besides, when the trial came… Stop thinking about it. Stop. ”It might have to wait for a while,” she finished, her smile forlorn. Like twenty-five to life…or forever.
Nell stood quickly after Mina, feeling pretty pumped right then, and couldn’t help but snort at the fist pump. ”Aww right,” she said like a battle cry before taking her plate and dumping the contents. As they exited the castle and crossed the grounds, Nell said as if trying to figure out herself, ”Cutting through the forests would be a good idea.” She guided them through, always wary of the animals that may happen upon them. The wilderness was a dangerous place, after all. Soon, the green and foliage was dotted with the gray stone of cliffsides and Nell tried to find a good place to start off of. ”We gotta be careful, mate,” she said as she put her foot on a rock jutting out, her other hands holding onto the face. Her tone was that of Steve Irwin, or any other explorer guy. ”Lots of wild animals around here. And these cliffs are ver dangerous.” She sent a comical smile Mina’s way.

Aramina had to admit to herself that she tried to to laugh at the question asked. Most people that wanted to know about where she was from, wanted to know the same thing, wither or not it rained heaps in London. Letting out the smallest laugh but then stopped once she realized, hoping that she hadn't offended Nell. "I guess, it really depends on what time of year it is but during winter, I guess you could say that." With a big smile on her face, she began to wonder what she had meant by that, 'might have to wait awhile'. "Well, when ever you want to, you just tell me when." Smiling, she was just thinking. What ever she was hiding something, but just decided that when Nell wanted to tell her, she would.
But then as soon as the mood changed, with just a miniature battle cry from Nell, Aramina stopped thinking about that and just thought about what was happening. The fun that they were going to have while exploring the caverns. 'Wait a second, what did she just say. I could have sworn it was something about wild animals?' Began to think herself while she was re-running the past few sentences of speck to try and remember what was just said. Could there really be wild animals out here, I mean. "I will do my best not to fall then." She tried to say with courage, hoping that that was what it sounded it like. "I guess that I will just have to blow them away if they try to come close." She said trying to add a little humor to the situation.

Nell was half-aware that Mina probably got that question a lot. She was becoming more open to certain stereotypes and things that people usually said. It was making her feel better about everything. She still could be naïve at times, but at least she’s not aware of most things. Still, she felt sorry for Josh in the fact that he had to tell her what a skin joint was, and what being on top meant, and forced her to reevaluate the words ‘going out’ so she could understand. ”I wouldn’t mind that,” Nell said, imagining what it must have been like. ”I love it when it rains. Okay, I don’t know if this is weird or not, but it smells good.” After holding up her hands defensively, she laughed. Rain was also something she had little experience with, because when it was raining she couldn’t sneak out. In those years, she didn’t like it. But now that she knew how nice it smelled before and after a downpour and how it felt against her skin, Nell was able to enjoy. She enjoyed so many things now.
Not wanting to bring down the mood and ambience with her own haunting thoughts, Nell smiled the entire time walking. She was always smiling, anyway. Not even aware that Mina had been oblivious to the wild animals out in the Canadian wilderness. She just snorted when the girl mentioned blowing them away, imagining a wolf caught up in a spiral of wind. Using the same absurd voice as before, Nell said solemnly, ”And I’ll use vines to restrain them.” She stopped speaking as she pulled herself up over a ledge and found a cavern entrance. It wasn’t suich an odd sight, though, not in these mountains. Looking into the dark abyss, Nell groaned. ”Now would be a good time to be a Fire elemental.” She didn’t have any reason to carry around a lighter after all. She took a few steps into the mouth of the cave and asked Mina, ”Got anything on you?”

Aramina couldn't help but smile at what her friend had just said. She really had to agree with what she had just said, "I have to agree, though I also love the feeling of the wind before a storm, but either is really calming to me." Smiling she was wondering where they were actually going. Aramina hadn't been around this area of the school before, so she was only following Nell, hoping that she knew where she was going. Though, she didn't really mind this. It was fun having someone else take the lead for once, considering she had been alone for a portion on her life.
As soon as they reached the beginning of the cavern, after having to get help from Nell, because she couldn't get up herself. Watching her walk a couple steps into the cavern it soon became clear that they would a little light to be able to see anything. After thinking about it for a second she finally remembered the fact that she had her iPhone in her back pocket. Bringing it out of the pocket she showed it to Nell as said, "I do have a Light App on my phone. That should last us awhile." As they began to enter the cavern she unlocked her phone, opened the app and began to walk forward. Wondering what she actually seeing, she turned back and shined the light into her face and wondered, "What do you think we will even find in here?"

Nell smirked and rolled her eyes playfully at Mina, poking her arm with her finger. ”Of course the Wind student thinks so,” she joked. She thought about it, tried to recall how the wind felt before a rain. Yeah, it was nice, especially to have someone in agreement about something like this—even though it was a very small thing, almost insignificant. But she’d come to appreciate the small things.
She had spent a lot of time exploring, but she’d never gotten close to really knowing the area where she could traverse it perfectly. She was directionally impaired as it was, but mostly when she was indoors and had no other routes to go by. Wide open spaces actually treated her a lot better, it was how her mind though. Especially when she was out in the wilderness and close to her element, with the trees and the foliage and she guessed the slight breeze made Mina feel close to her own element. Nell just had to appreciate it for cooling off the warm weather.
Walking back over to the other girl, she helped her up. ”Good idea!” Nell said, slapping her forehead and remembering she did have her phone on her, but it probably had a little bit of water damage. Not that she cared too much—she’d rather get rid of it and have a new phone. She took it out, and said, ”Too bad I’ll have to keep hitting the button to keep it lit up.” her iPod was back home, and on it she actually had a Zippo app. It wouldn’t do her any good lying on her coffee table right now. Actually, Pablo had probably batted it off and was playing with the headphones. She could only imagine. They walked back into the cavern and Nell responded, ”A yeti, maybe. This is Canada.”
She walked even deeper into it, and used her cliché movie line, ”It’s too quiet.” It really was eerily silent, save for their footsteps. ”Maybe we can find some cave drawings.” She rolled her eyes, even though Mina wouldn’t be able to see her even with the light. More seriously, she wondered out loud, ”I wonder how deep it goes…”

Aramina looked back at the girl that was around her and after listening to the what her friend had just said. Laughing felt like it was taking her to another place, even though it technically was. Considering they were, at this point in time, walking down a cavern with only their phones for light. For herself, this was defiantly something she would do on a normal day.
During her life time she didn't really spend too much time adventuring. Having the most of the time being in a house with her brother just playing music or just doing things with her sister-in-law. Not really having done any of this before, Aramina was defiantly looking at Nell to be able to know what to do, mainly when the situations got really bad. All she could really do was hope that she wouldn't get scared and run back to the beginning of the cavern.
After hearing that Nell herself had her iPhone with her, she sighed with relief. At least she wouldn't be the only one with some sort of light. So, just in case she phone ran out of battery or the other way around, herself or Nell would still have some sort of light. Then hearing Nell's comment about the Yeti's she could help but laugh, just a little bit. "That is defiantly true," She laughed out, "You never know what could happen."
"You never know," Aramina began to state after hearing Nell's comments about finding cave drawing ect. "Not too many people know how old this cavern even this. As far as we know the cavern itself could be thousand or even millions of years old." After realizing that she had just had a major nerdy moment she just laughed and wondered if Nell though it was funny, or at somewhat funny, as she did.

Nell wouldn’t be too fond of being stuck in a dark cavern without light, even if it was with someone else. She had issues with claustrophobia as it was, and if she were stuck in pitch black without knowing what was what…she wasn’t too pleased about it. Of course, she never let anything like that bring her down. Always looking on the bright side, she didn’t even consider that batteries come out. As for whatever dangers may lay ahead of them? Well, it was all for adventure. Maybe a few polar bears would pop up, she didn’t know.
”I wonder if polar bears sleep in caves,” she said cheekily, following her train of thought. Actually, she didn’t know. She didn’t think there were polar bears in Canada, actually. Well that’s something to look up. When Aramina spoke of the cavern’s age, she allowed her thoughts to turn serious for a moment. The girl was right. ”The castle is pretty old,” she said. There could be a lot around there that was also old. She’d never really put thought into it until Mina brought it up. Wow, maybe she should start thinking like the Wind girl.
She illuminated the cavern walls with her phone, keeping her finger over the ‘end’ button. She didn’t want to end up calling someone because she wanted to keep the place lit. ”Echo!” Nell called, trying to hear if she could make the reverberations off the walls. Her voice continued for a bit and she looked at Mina, lifting an eyebrow. ”Goes in pretty deep.” Yeah, it could be dangerous, but of course that didn’t cross Nell’s mind. She stepped deeper into the cave, and skipped ahead, singing ‘We’re off to see the wizard.’ ”Maybe we should leave a bread crumb trail behind,” she joked, shivering from the cold of the cave. There weren’t too many tunnels or anything, and it was a bit disappointing compared to the movie versions. You watch too many movies.

Aramina was defiantly wondering what was going through her friends minds at this particular moment. If there was one going through her won it would be the fact she didn't have to much battery left on her phone. Trying to get this thought out of her head, she looked over to Nell and then looked back forward. Hoping that they didn't go really far in for them to them have to stop because her phone ran out of battery. Even though that was the worst case scenario, the thought seemed to glue itself to the back of her mind. Annoying her and leaving her just hoping that the thoughts would leave. As soon as she heard Nell said something, she was instantly thankful.
"Polar bears?" She began with a laugh, that was defiantly something that instantly lifted the mood, "You can't really be serious, can you? It would more like a Yeti attack!" The fact in her mind was that they were getting further and further into the cavern and the more they went in the more interesting things they saw. Cave drawings and some things that Aramina didn't really know what it was but it defiantly looked old enough to be interesting, mainly in her current state of mind. "It really is old. Just think. Many years ago, people might have though that this was a road or walking track or something like that."
After hearing Nell trying to 'Echo' through the cavern, Aramina began to laugh. She really wondered if Nell had even been around here before. Just listening in, she was just wondering what she was going to do next and after her hearing Nell singing songs from the 'Wizard of Oz' she just lost it. After laughing for a little she was wondering how far they had actually walked. "Maybe we should." She began it think about leaving some sort of trail now that Nell had mentioned it.

In all honesty, Nell was just insanely glad to have fun like this, even if it was something strange for the two girls to be doing. Life brought with it too many concerns and too much anxiety—she had her father and her aunt and the trial always looming dangerously on the edges of her thoughts. And she could never let those thoughts be anything but peripheral. However, with her over-analytical mind it was hard to prevent something like that. Having fun with Mina like this…well, it took her mind off of everything.
Nell laughed out loud at Mina’s incredibility. ”I feel like Scooby Doo. We can be Scooby and Shaggy. Always having the munchies.” Well, she had that part down at least, but not because of the drugs. Drugs were something she’d rather avoid—they were unhealthy from what she heard. She liked to be healthy. The girl gave serious consideration to the age of the cave, and it was actually wonderous to think about. She loved history, after all, and Aramina was right—this was a part of history. ”Never considered it,” Nell murmured pensively, pushing end on her phone once again. ”Even further back the cavemen probably cut through here as they migrated throughout the world.” Nell may not have liked to think about her future, but the past was okay, especially when it wasn’t her own past. The history of the world, rather, and how people existed and communicated before she was even a twinkle in her father’s eye.
Trying her darndest not to grin like an idiot when Mina cracked up, Nell didn’t have to think long to come up with a way to leave a trail for them so they didn’t get completely lost. ”It may be a little late to start, but…” Flowers began to bloom in her hand, and as she walked she let them fall after her, scattering along the cavern floor. That would work nicely. Trying to pay attention to that and also to where she was going, she felt whatt was like a draft sweep through. She looked over at Mina, wondering if the girl felt the same thing, because she was a little freaked out. Nell wasn’t necessarily superstitious or anything, but she didn’t think that anything could be labeled as ‘impossible’ until there’s concrete proof stating such. So, she was willing to attribute this strange draft as something paranormal.
A few steps further and their lights sweeping over before them, Nell almost gasped at what she saw. ”Zoinks!” A freaking underground lake sat before them like it had planted itself in their path, the stallegtites and stallagmites reflected on the stagnant surface. Never had she seen anything like this or even considered it would be possible to see it. It was difficult to describe the butterfly feeling in her stomach. ”Oh god, that’s so cool,” Nell said in a hushed voice, as if she might disturb the beauty by speaking any louder. ”We must be close to the lake or something.” Wondering if it would actually work, she turned the camera on her phone on and took a few pictures that would inevitably turn up too dark, she bet. Well, she really wanted to frame this moment. Grinning over at the girl,s he said, ”Wanna go swimming?”

That would have been one of the funniest things that Aramina had heard in a long time, that was for sure. It had been ages since she had even watched any of the Scooby Doo movies or read any of the pointless books but the be honest, she had never read any of the books anyway. They just seemed really boring in her mind and she never really got into them like she could with other books. "That could be true but one question. Why am I Shaggy?" As soon as she thought about it for a second and then realized what Nell had just said. "Wait, I get it know, haha." She laughed nervously and she scratched the back of her neck as sign that he was worried about something.
"It is really awesome to think about that," she was looking at the walls just wondering how many people had actually walked this path in the past, "You never know, right. You know." Shining the light on the walls to see if she could find any engravings on the walls that she might be able to recognize. She knows about a couple thinking because she read a little about this type of stuff, hoping that the knowledge might come in handy one day, and all that she could think was 'I knew reading would work in my favor one day'. Though as soon as she saw that Nell began to make flowers as their version of a 'trail of bread crumbs' she could help but laugh and also feel a little envious. Bring for the fact that Nell could do something like that while Aramina herself couldn't.
As soon as they came to a stop Aramina look forward and couldn't help but drop her jaw. She couldn't believe her eyes, in front of the two there lay an underground lake. The little bit of light from there phones and some sort of light that was coming in naturally seemed to make the lake look even more beautiful. Looking over at Nell she couldn't help but smile, even though they had just dyed from their last 'battle'. Laughing a little to herself she finally decided to speck, "Well, at least we found something out, hey Scooby." Laughing to herself, the one thing that she really wanted to do at this point was one thing, "You better believe that I wanna!" Taking of her shoes of all she did then was jump in. "Youcoming or what?"

Nell stuck her tongue out, smiling. ”Well, you are taller,” Nell teased. Though she really wasn’t by much, and certainly not as tall as Shaggy. She’d only actually begun watching the show, a friend having said that Nell would be able to relate to the duo. In her childhood, she did have a television, but her mother was usually in the living room and the girl tried to avoid her when she could. The only time she remembered watching it, really, was when she walked in and her mother was blacked out with a cigarette burning in the ashtray, one that she’d used earlier to burn her daughter’s hand. On the screen, the twin towers were collapsing. It was frightening, realizing that it was happening only miles away.
Aramina seemed like a pretty smart chick, or at least studious considering the things she thought about. A part of her was reminded of Tilly—her twin had always been intelligent and observant. She shooed thoughts away, because thoughts of her sister also brought thoughts of her death. Instead, she focused on the lake the had inadvertently found. ”Darn straight,” Nell said, her voice soft with wonderment. Nell couldn’t help but burst out laughing. ”Oh my god, Mina, you are something else!” She’d just been kidding, but here was this girl taking her shoes off.
Nell looked over at the placid looking surface with a hint of trepidation. When had that ever stopped her from doing things before? She took off her sandals and tested the water, shivered. ”Holy Mary, Mother of Marcello, it is cold,” she chirped, hopping around a bit. The Wind girl was a crazy one, really. Then, she stepped back and cannon balled in, fully dressed, before emerging while shivering. ”The water is lovely.” Nell wrapped her arms around her chest, teeth chattering.
