Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more After dealing with the hell that was classes, it was no surprise that most of the kids in the cafeteria were loud and noisy. Chatting up with friends about how boring classes were or other events of their life. Then there was the lone newcomer working on her homework in the corner. If one were to guess off of activity, they would assume she was a nerd... Well... If one didn't know about her grades being average to high. Or the fact that she was older than most of those in the grade 10 classes and felt like such an idiot for being a person stuck in those classes. If they knew that they would assuming she was trying harder to make up for that.
But that wouldn't be true either. Mikki tried so hard just to get her normal grades and it was why she didn't hang out at the gardens or any where there was distractions But her reading and comprehension was not as good as people would've expected because to her, all words were squiggles and she only knew how some sounded because she memorized those certain squiggles were pronounced. Of course, her parents who home taught her didn't catch that because they mostly taught her verbally and her problem with reading stuff was probably just because she was easily distracted
Which made it hard for her to be a lawyer but she would try hard for it. Even if it meant squinting at the pages of homework in front of her as she ate bite by bite, occasionally scribbling down an answer in her methodical perfect handwriting. It took her longer to work on her homework so she tend to spend the lunch hour and about two hours after school to get her work done. It was frustrating but she knew she would not be able to become a lawyer if she couldn't at least show she had the skills for it and most showing skills stuff involved having to read and write. So she struggled on. It was a good thing she was quiet and people could just assume she was new than that she was dumb.
Mikki sighed at that thought and ran her hand through her dark brown hair. Her brown eyes closed for a moment. mikki really needed a break from this stuff but she also needed to get it done. Mikennah opened her eyes and looked at the work, debating whether she should just hang out with people and spend three hours after school doing the work or just continue on with working on it. That was the question really... The big question she constantly thought on for most lunch hours as she stared at homework and squirmed in his chair, making sure to get a bite of food in occasionally. It was a question she wasn't sure she would ever be able to easily answer. She let out a huge sigh and took a bite of an apple

despite how many years kiwi had already walked the halls of the academy, a part of him would never come to terms with the mounds of students and the germs they carried. his heart continued to race as kiwi walked through the mess hall tables, being careful to not physically touch anything. his camera hung around his neck, pushed close to his body by the lunch he was holding onto for dear life. kiwi had no doubt in his mind that he looked like a scared little boy, ready to flee, but this was something he had to face. his blue eyes observed the mess hall as he walked, cursing himself for not coming a couple minutes earlier. nearly all the tables were crowded with people, only the odd one out that had a single person.
with a sigh, he quickly glance at each of the tables only having less than one person, before narrowing down on a girl, crowded by books, and eating alone. although kiwi would of preferred to eat alone, he assumed anyone doing homework during lunch could not be entirely horrible, and chances are, they would be quiet. making his way carefully to the table, cringing when someone accidentally bumped into him, he did not bother to ask to sit down, but sat across from the girl, not uttering a word.
pulling out his lunch, a bottle of hand sanitizer came along with it and kiwi applied some to his hands and part of his arms. opening the container that had chili in it, kiwi carefully began to eat, not lifting his head to make contact with the girl. for one, she seemed preoccupied with her own things, and two, who was kiwi to actually start a conversation anyway? | [atrb=width,140] | [cs=2] |

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more Mikki actually jumped startled when someone sat with her. She really wasn't expecting someone to sit with her. Most of her friends knew she was working and most of the others didn't really care enough about her to sit down where she was. The sixteen year old looked up at the other guy with her bright brown eyes.she then gave a bit of a sigh and looked back at her books. On the one hand she was quite happy about the distraction but it meant she probably wasn't going to get to her work anytime soon. Who would work with someone on homework over lunch and how would they be able to without catching her stupidity? she knew the information mentioned on the work and it should've been quite easy for her to do but her reading skills sucked.
Oh well... she could get away with telling this guy something at least she bet he saw the confused look on her face. "It's easy work but I wanted to get it done before class."she explained There... It made her seem more like a procastinator then an over achiever working on the homework for tomorrow. Plus, it helped her to seem less like an idiot and more like a person bad with time... Which was also quite true.she was bad with the passage of time and only half of it was because reading clocks was a bore. Sure it was important for crimes and stuff to know exactly what time it was to verify alibis and stuff but really... As long as you got to a place close enough to the time then you should be fine right? mikki often times knew when to go into class and when class ended only by the bells.
"im mikennah" she wispered quietly Besides... It meant she could perhaps get her food done on time and chat with someone. Although mikki was acting very normal she wanted friends. she was actually quite happy that this person sat down at her table. But the boy seemed quiet, she didnt want to interrupt his eating or train of thought so she just went back to scribbling things down on the piece of paper infront of her.
Mikkenah just decided to sketch and draw instead of working, she just couldnt be bothered by the work anymore.

reluctantly and hoping this would not turn into an actual conversation, leaving room for him to become a complete idiot, he smiled. why the girl felt the need to explain her actions of doing homework, kiwi was unsure, but it was a subject he was more comfortable with than small talk. "what are you working on?" he quietly asked, his voice distant but trying to be welcoming. so kiwi was no public speaker, or conversation starter. well, kiwi was no social person at all really. as he waited for her answer, he contemplated offering his help, no matter the class. chances are, kiwi had got the homework for that class, finished while in class, and was patiently waiting for the other mounds of homework. if the girl needed help, he felt obligated to offer, but another part of him yelled no way in hell.
mikennah, the name had a sort of ring to it, something simple and innocent. with an attempt at a warm smile, kiwi nodded slightly. "my name is kiwi." he replied, knowing at least when someone revealed their name, it is nice to reveal yours as well. "and before you say it, i know i'm named after a fruit." he added with a frown, feeling as if most people just learned that one aspect about his name. more than once people had informed him he was named after a fruit and for some odd reason, did kiwi not know that? after all, he had lived his whole life with the name, and with a sister named cherry. what could he say, he came from a fruit family.
taking another bite of his lunch, opening a juice box in the process and taking a sip to help the food go down, kiwi stared across the table. as much as mikennah tried to do her work, kiwi could not help but notice she was drawing instead. being artistic like himself, he had to admire what she was doing, but to another extent, it was just more proof the girl might need help. sadly, help kiwi was not exactly comfortable giving, but knew he should. oh the dilemmas of life. | [atrb=width,140] | [cs=2] |

Mikki pulled her hair back from her face as she sketched, just the thought of work made her shiver but hey, she had to get it done at some point, the boy asked what subject she was working on, she smirked and said "Journalism homework" in a bored tone "Not exactly my favorite" she added then looked down again, she was never shy but this boy seemed resigned and not one to talk so she just respected that.
As he introduced himself she laughed "I was not actully going to say that, its a cool name" she smile at him. then looked back at the drawing crumpling it up and tossing it into her backpack. suddenly the smell of the hand sanitizer hit her, she was about to ask why the hand sanitizer but thought better of it she did not want to seem rude or something so she just crinkled her nose and went back to toying with her pencil. she picked up an apple and bit into it staring down at the paper. Mikennah did not want to be helped she wanted to be independent.
Mikennah missed home alot, her family always helped her with work but now that she was old enough to take full responsibility she was not sure she was ready for all of it, especially now that she lived in an apartment by herself now, ever since her parents died she had been living on student welfare it was a touchy subject for her aswell. Normally when she felt weak she would either paint or go to the martial arts studio and work off the anger she felt towards everyone.
Mikki looked at the boy again "You can call me mikki though, most of my friend do anyways" she poked her face out from behind her long brown hair and stared at him with cautious big brown eyes. "i think ive seen you around" she noted as well "Your lightning as well right?" she stopped talking noticing that she might be acting rude or ill mannered "Sorry, im a talkative person" she apologized for herself right away

"i'm not in the class myself, but i'd love to help." he spoke quickly, quietly, and once finished, was amazed he was actually offering his help when he was so against the idea in the first place. any other boring, non-artistic topic and he would of kept his mouth shut. but why, oh why, did it have to be journalism?
taking the moments of silence between the two to finish off his chilli and migrate to a bag of strawberries, there was no fruit so heavenly as strawberries. kiwis on the other hand? ugh, how horrid. it was odd for some people, to imagine someone named after the fruit to actually dislike the fruit. though, for even more confusion, kiwi loved his name... just not the fruit. it was hard for him himself to wrap his head around at the best of times, but back to strawberries? they were amazing, their sweet and addictive taste. kiwi had read somewhere that the smell of strawberries was the one smell that turned on guys most. he could believe it. though, strawberries were also the hardest smell to re-create. nonetheless, he loved them, loved the smell, the taste, everything.
when mikki started talking again, kiwi instantly decided he like the nickname people had given her. though nicknames people had given him? not so much. with her next question, kiwi smiled with a nod. "yes, i am thunder." he replied to her question, assuming the way she asked that she was thunder too. it was odd, moments before kiwi had been feeling nervous, almost ready to leave the table and eat on the ground, but the simple thoughts of journalism and creativity brought him out of his shell. kiwi was no longer feeling the effects of panic, of actually talking to someone, let alone a girl. however, if she attempted any sort of physical contact, that could all easily end. kiwi just hoped it all stayed at a simple conversation between acquaintances. | [atrb=width,140] | [cs=2] |
