Seth was no coward. Anyone who dared call him one suggest that he was one either wanted to be cooked or a black eye. Sometimes he gave them both. But there were a few exceptions to that. There were some people who, when they did that, only made him want to prove himself to them in any way he could. And Elly was one of those people. So when she proposed the idea of taking a midnight swim at the lake and tried to insult his manliness, he agreed. He tried to stay away from water as much as possible, and that included the lake. But that didn't mean he didn't know how to swim. His mom had taught him when he was still young. She would bring him to the beach every other day, and there, she would make him swim laps. So he was a pretty good swimmer, if he did say so himself. He'd show her. He wasn't afraid of anything. Well, actually he was, but at least he was bold enough to face his fears. Now that's what you call courage. Speaking of courage, he had an idea to test hers. He thought about it as he lay down on his bed at the dorms. Classes had only just finished. He had done his homework in advance, in preparation for later. Both of his arms were at the back of his head, acting as a sort of pillow as he gazed at the ceiling. Slipping out one hand, he patted his pocket where the fake spider lay. He had bullied a water student earlier into giving him one. What he was going to do with it, though, he wasn't sure yet. He could bring it out of the water suddenly. Or he could just put it in the water near her without her noticing. That would be fun. The thought of what her reaction would be brought a smile to his face. Would she get scared? Definitely. Would she get angry? That was for sure. Would they kiss again? Wait, where had that thought come from? He shook his head and frowned. But even as he tried to forget about it, it all came back to him, as clear as if it had only happened yesterday. Which, in fact, it had. The footsteps. The sudden darkness. The feel of her lips against his, warm, soft, tasting like the lake water. Lake water had never tasted so good. At least, as far as he could remember. Unconsciously, he started smiling again, like the little retard he was. Then he realized what he was doing, and the frown came back. Why was he thinking about things like that? They were only friends, nothing more. Thoughts like that would do nothing but ruin their friendship. And he definitely didn't want that to happen. So he closed his eyes and tried to chase those thoughts away. But still, they came, again and again. With a sigh, he squeezed his eyes even tighter and concentrated on the darkness. Without noticing it, he was asleep in a few minutes, dreaming something about drinking lake water. He was woken up by the annoyingly steady beep of an alarm. He groaned and covered his ears, trying to keep out the sound, but it still came, louder this time. His eyes fluttered open slowly, blinking to get the sleep out. He glanced at the digital clock beside his bed and he saw that the time was a quarter to midnight. Wow, had he really slept that long? Apparently he had. Wide awake now, he got out of bed. He went to the bathroom and changed into a plain white T-shirt and a pair of dull gray shorts. The closest thing he had to swimwear, since like he said, he tended to stay away from water. He was about to leave the dorms, but then he remembered something. Reaching into the pocket of his discarded jeans, he pulled out the spider and a few grapes and placed it inside the pocket of his shorts. Now he was ready. Lighting a flame on his palm with well-practiced efficiency, he made his way through the dungeons, silent as a shadow, tiptoeing in his sandals, which was a feat in itself. Finally, he emerged and stepped onto the academy grounds, and from there, he headed northwest to where he assumed he lake would be. He smelled the water in the lake before he saw it. His eyes widened in surprise, and the flame on his palm disappeared. It was larger than he had expected it to be. Much larger. He was starting to have his doubts about going through with it. But there was no backing out now. Elly would never let him live it down if he did. So he puffed up his chest, and marched toward the shore of the lake as confidently as he could. When he got there, he looked around, but saw no one. She wasn't there yet. He sighed and started pacing the shore of the lake. She'd be there any minute now. Reaching into his pocket, he took out one of the grapes that he had taken from the mess hall earlier and popped it into his mouth. Ever since what happened the other night, his fondness for grapes had increased. By the time he had spit out the dried up, juice-less skin of the grape, she still wasn't there, and he was starting to get impatient. He turned towards the direction of the lake, and just stood there waiting, with his arms crossed over his chest. tag;; Freya Ella Frost words;; 935 notes;; Seth had random dreams. lyrics;; I'm Yours by Jason Mraz credits;; me-- just wanted to try it out XD

It was safe to say, she was waiting for midnight. Even, when waking up, the girl had begun to think about it. What should she take? What should she wear? What should she expect? It was all circling through her mind now and again. Actually, she spent most of the day thinking about it. Yes, she thought about it during her math test… during lunch, PE, listening to her roommate talk… and even at 10pm. The girl had thought about packing something but then again, she shouldn’t pack a thing. I mean, it was just a swim, right? Or, at least, so Freya thought. She felt odd. That smile still stuck on her face and now, her roommate had even caught up with it. And yes, it didn’t take a genius to read Freya that day. The girl had started off with singing in the shower, mixed juice with water, only had grapes and like… one brownie for lunch, not to mention, she had probably brushed her teeth about fourteen times that day. The worst part was, Freya didn’t even notice.
”Oh, come on, Sam, help me out here!” the girl pleaded with the other girl. Quite honestly, Samantha looked like she was watching some sort of a comedy. She even chewed on popcorn, no matter how cliché that seams. But Freya still needed help. She couldn’t decide between bikinis. It was either the blue and white one or the red and white one… Well, the first variety of choices were much, much bigger. Tell you honestly, she had no idea why she had so many… in hopes of sunbathing some day, obviously… or so she figured. But, either way, now, she had gotten down to two. So there she stood, holding one in each hand in front of her roommate, as if trying to weigh them.
”Why does it matter? You plan on lighting up the area or something? Who are you going with, by the way?” the obviously amused girl asked, her tone spiced with curiosity.
”Right, the one with more red. It’s always good to use the elemental colors…” So, she wouldn’t ask Sam anything, anymore. ”And I have no idea, what you’re talking about. I’m going alone. I’m only asking in case I get caught, thank you very much…” Well, yeah, she wouldn’t believe that either. Couldn’t blame Sam.
Finally, dressed in her chosen swimwear and a bigger t-shirt, she slipped out of the room. The teenage girl couldn’t help but sigh. Well, she got away from a ton of questions, didn’t she? Yes, she could say she was revealed. Anyway, sneaking out of the dorms, knowing well, she probably had about five minutes to midnight, she made a flame with her hand and made her way to the lake. She had done this before and concluded that going bare-feet was probably the best option. Sneaking here and there with sandal would only make things harder. Besides, she wouldn’t swim with shoes. Yet, she did carry a pair of flip-flops in her hand. And yes, they matched her bikini, thank you very much.
Reaching the school grounds, she slipped her shoes on and ran to the lake. Yes, ran. Sure, it wasn’t easy, but she did it anyway, because she was probably late. She had an auto-pilot on how to get to the lake, anyway. No flames needed. To be honest, she wouldn’t really be able to navigate everywhere. The girl sucked at navigation. But she had this one route down, pretty much. The route being ‘Room – Lake’.
When she came closer, the girl was breathing a tad bit more heavy, but she was more concerned about finding Seth. The lighting was dim, but thankfully there were no light, so the moon helped a little. And no, she didn’t feel like making a flame? Why, because she had planned to scare him.
*Here you are…” she thought to herself, spotting a figure further, at the lake. Lucky for her, she was approaching the guy from the back. And while it was possible, that another boy would be at the lake, she doubted it’d be right then and there. I mean… it was midnight… well, a few minutes past… but still midnight.
Making sure to not make a sound – she even tried breathing without sound – the girl crept closer and closer. She would at least attempt to scare the guy. Well, it had never really worked… but there was always the first time, right? Besides, Elly was pretty sure she had been close to crying one of the ‘spider’ events. If not more than once. Of course, she didn’t expect the guy to cry about getting scared, but a comical yelp might be in order… And maybe she just felt like leaping on him… Which she did… when getting closer. ”Boo.” was the only word she said, if you can call it a word.

Seth yawned, taking in some more oxygen to keep himself awake and alert, though he knew that that wouldn't be much of a problem once he started swimming. He was sure that the water was cold, but again, there was no backing out now. Speaking of backing out.. He wondered what was taking Elly so long. He was starting to get impatient, and a little worried that he would get caught. The punishment for standing in front of the lake in shorts couldn't be that bad, but still, he didn't want to get into trouble for nothing. That would be a waste of time, and he, like most other people in the world, didn't like their time to be wasted. But he guessed it was worth it. He would even get to see her in a-- "Oof!He went down on all fours, then before he knew it, he was rolling on the ground with whoever had jumped on him from behind. He was very thankful right then that the shore of the lake was made of soft sand, instead of hard and sharp pebbles. That would have been very ugly. He considered setting whatever had attacked him on fire the moment he got the chance, but he thought it would be better if he saw who it was first. But really, there was only one person in the world who he knew would dare do that to him. Only one person in the world who would say 'boo' when tackling another person. When they finally stopped rolling, he quickly disentangled himself from his attacker's limbs and stood up to look at whoever it was. His guess was right. He looked at Elly with a mixture of amusement and annoyance. But he guessed he had deserved it, after all the times he had abused her fear of spiders, and he would be able to get back at her anyway later. He raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh hey there. What are you doing in the ground? Me, I was attacked by a ninja." he shrugged, then started brushing sand off his shirt, which was harder than it sounded. Finally, he gave up and just took the whole thing off. He was going to leave it on the sand anyway, so why bother? He reached into his pocket for two more grapes, his last two. One of them he popped into his mouth and started chewing on, while the other one he offered to her. "I gotta say, they do taste better when sat on." he winked at her. He then walked towards the lake. Reaching a toe out timidly, he dipped it into the water and immediately recoiled. It was colder than he had expected, and that was saying something, since he had already been expecting it to be cold. He turned back and looked at her. "Better get this over with." he sighed, then taking a deep breath, he made his way into the lake. It grew deeper little by little, until the water reached his waist. His teeth were chattering, but he stopped when he noticed it. No need to look like a wimp now. He turned around again to face her, crossing his arms over his chest like earlier as he did so. "You coming? The water's nice." he said sarcastically. Obviously she knew how cold it was. Probably why she had dared him to try in the first place. He could feel the spider inside his pocket, and he hoped that she couldn't see it. Chances were she wouldn't, since everything below his waist was already submerged underwater. He thought about how he would go about with the prank. He came up with nothing. Dammit, he should have thought about it some more. Now all he had was a useless fake spider in his pockets, and he was pretty sure that his toes were starting to become numb. Hopefully he would be able to think of something later, but right then, he had nothing. So much for his bright idea. His mind drifted back to the water. Like he said, the lake was pretty big, and it scared him to think about what might be lurking out there. So he didn't think about it. Instead, he thought about Elly and what she might be wearing under that shirt. Then he realized that that wasn't so much better, so he started thinking about the water again. He was a little excited to actually start swimming, but he would wait for her first. They would go at the same time, so that she wouldn't have the chance to push him in. He knew her well enough to know that she was capable of doing it. If he was going to have to hurl himself into the freezing water, he would do it himself, thank you very much. tag;; Freya Ella Frost words;; 809 notes;; Cold water is cold. lyrics;; I'm Yours by Jason Mraz credits;; me-- just wanted to try it out XD

Yes! It was a success! Well, the 'tackle' part. You know, how things tended to get messed up. Perhaps, she would've messed up when he moved and would've ended up completely humiliating herself. Well, thankfully, that did not happen this time. Oddly enough, she didn't mind the landing, but she had to admit, he was a few pounds heavier she'd give him credit for. Then again, she wasn't an expert in weights when it came to guys.. nor was she some muscle pile, either. Besides, she had to admit, this situation was fun. She lost her sandals somewhere on the way, but that didn't really bother her at the time. Elly was too focused on how funny and adorable this seemed. You know, she'd expect this situation to appear in some family movie or a documentary of puppies. Oh well, she wouldn't know for sure. The blonde just couldn't help but giggle when he got up. Just look at that facial expression. "Oh, shush. You probably liked it, anyway."
A ninja? Sitting up, the girl couldn't help but raise a brow. Then, she actually realized that the idea was cool. Just think about it, her, a blonde white girl being a ninja, sneaking in the shadows, throwing some awesomely shaped projectiles, catching flies with chopsticks... Yeah, that would actually be exciting. Of course, the idea fell out of her mind when she witnessed him pulling his shirt off. Well... maybe it was because he was standing right in front of her and she was still sitting on the ground, just staring at Seth while she could. Come on, give her a break. It was rather distracting, to be honest. It also felt strange because she could feel her cheeks burning up. Thank god for it being midnight.
She looked away quickly enough for him not to notice her previous facial expression. That would be rather awkward. Really awkward at that. Clearing her throat, because it felt really weird all of a sudden, she got up. And thankfully, he offered her a grape because she was sort of flustered and felt as if missing everything she learned about verbal communication. But the grape did surprise her a little. Seriously? A Grape? She felt a chuckle building up in her throat but took it anyway. Slipping it through her lips, she just glanced over at the guy. It would be weird to ask why he took grapes with him, right? It was probably a coincidence, right? Right? Well, either way, she felt she just might end up doing something stupid that night... After she splashes a good dose of cold water on him for the kicks, of course.
Glancing back, she searched for her earlier lost sandals. The girl didn't observe the 'toe dip'. She'd probably laugh if she had. But hey, she at least found one sandal. The other one couldn't have been far, right?
Cautiously walking back, she kept her eyes on the ground, searching for the other sandal. However, the words did call out a light snerk. "Don't worry, hun. It's not as bad as it seems. Oh, there it is." Feeling victorious of finding her other piece of footwear, the girl picked it up and walked back closer to the shore. She was a bit surprised to see Seth going in. The guy wasn't probably used to nightly swims or anything. She could've pushed him in, gladly. Well, it'd be easier. She also found the tough exterior sort of adorable in this situation. She of all people was certain Seth was more of a big teddy bear. You should hear his mom-calls.
Setting down the sandals, she smirked. "I'm coming, I'm coming." The girl gave out while tugging at the bottom edges of her shirt and pulling it off, over her head, revealing the bikini. Perhaps, the blue one had been better? Well, too late now, wasn't it?
Throwing the shirt on her sandals, she slid a hand through her hair, as if contemplating on how to get into the lake. In the end, she just figured that a quick entry would be the best one. So yes, she ran in, splashing around a bit, her lips curved in a smirk. The splashes ceased when she got deeper. By the time she got to Seth, it was nothing but slight waves. "You know, it seems less cold when you fall in" she gave out, goose bumps now spreading over but a mischievous smirk plastered on her facial features.

Seth rubbed his arms to try and get some warmth back into them. Goosebumps peeked out from every inch of bare skin. He could feel them, rough against his equally rough and callused hands. It gave him some warmth, but not nearly enough to make him comfortable. Well, she was taking sweet her time. He found that his teeth were chattering once again, so he clenched his jaw and gritted his teeth to keep them busy. The sudden breeze that blew towards him wasn't helping at all. Why did it have to be so fucking cold? He dropped his arms in frustration. Big mistake. His hands slapped against the surface of the lake, sending up a burst of water that hit one of the few dry parts left on his body; his sides, to be exact, since they were the closest to his hands. He let a groan escape his throat and out his lips. This wasn't turning out as fun as he had expected. At least, not yet. He smiled maliciously to himself as he patted the pocket where the spider lay, bulging out of his pants like the disgusting little thing it was. He turned around once more, just in time to see Elly taking off her shirt. He felt his jaw drop open, but he quickly closed it before she saw. He had assumed that she would be swimming in her shirt. But apparently, judging from the bikini she was wearing, he was wrong. He felt self-conscious all of a sudden. They were practically naked. Well, almost. He shook his head. He had to get a grip on himself. He had seen many girls in bikinis before. Why would she be any different? "Because it was night, they were alone together somewhere far and secluded, and to be honest, not one of the girls he had seen before could compare to her. But he got rid of those thoughts just as soon as they had formed in his mind. It was all really distracting. And besides, he wasn't supposed to be thinking that way. But he couldn't help it. Clenching his jaw once more, he focused on the cold and how much more annoying it was than his brain. His hands were at his sides since it wasn't like he was going to touch himself with them, constantly curling and uncurling, sending tiny ripples through the otherwise undisturbed water. It had yet to meet the destructive and distracting and disturbing thing that was Elly. He expected her to check how cold the water was first, at the very least. Instead, he saw her splashing her way towards him, sending up sprays of water that didn't really drench him, but didn't help keep his dry parts dry. He glared at her. Another breeze blew towards them, and its effect on his skin was ten times worse than it should have been. Great. Well, there was no use delaying the inevitable. It was time to go in. He was about to, but her words suddenly gave him an idea. He turned to look at her, straight in the eye, and put on a serious face. "You know what... I think you're right." he said, staring at her for a few more seconds, before his face lit up with a mischievous grin. In the second that it took that grin to appear, he scooped her up, one hand at the back of her knees and the other on her back, and plunged headfirst into the unknown. The unknown turned out to be a face full of ice cold water. Once they were under, he let go of her. More from the cold than anything else. He was so surprised that he almost gasped. That would have been bad. But instead, he kicked upwards, and before he knew it, his head broke through the surface of the lake, and he took in a lungful of air. He shook his hair wildly, water spraying in all directions, but it didn't matter now that he was soaked to the bone. In fact, it felt much better than it had standing there waiting for her. He was starting to see what she found so nice about it. Maybe he'd do it more often. But it wouldn't be half as fun without company. Speaking of company... he looked around, expecting at any moment for Elly to resurface. tag;; Freya Ella Frost words;; 732 notes;; wooo. Even she had to admit the water was cold. The girl had done this before, too. Lots of times, really. For some odd reason, she could feel her lower lip tingle as if about to start shivering any moment. Yes, she considered that to be strange. The girl usually just walked straight in. No comments, no standing around in the water. Now she actually saw why she had earned a glare from Seth after stomping through the water. The breeze really was a bitch, wasn't it? She could feel a shiver run down her spine as the wind caressed her skin. The fact it had previously been splashed with water didn't really help. Wow, it really could get cold, now couldn't it? She'd make a mental note not to stand around like that next year. I mean, it would only get warmer now, so there was no need to fear the cold after a week or so. Summer was approaching pretty fast, you know. In a few, the semester would be over. The girl still had no idea on what she was about to do during the two weeks. Her current parents were in Vancouver, but she did wish to visit Layla. To be honest, she was also starting to think that she just wanted to go somewhere else. You know, have a third option of sorts. As much as she wanted to visit her best friend, she knew how much trouble that would cause. Also, she wasn't sure she would be able to keep calm while seeing her emotionally exhausted sister. Maybe, just maybe, a third option would be better? Then again, she didn't have a lot of time to come up with one. Unless, she decided to go on a search for her family. That would be something, alright. Just picture her running around trying to find people who didn't even pay attention to her before. As naive as the girl could be, that thought still made her rather bitter, really. Then again, that was not the time to be thinking of such things.
Giving a light smirk, she replied: "Well, of course I'm ri-" she was caught off when she felt two hands sneaking around her back and legs, only to get picked up. Oh,now that was new. It was that second that she became really aware that the two were half naked and now this close. And there went her heart beat. Yep, anyone could see her heart beating by then. As a reaction to the quickly approaching water surface, she only got to give out a yelp and then - SPLASH! Seth let go and she swam further, feeling the cold water to be just the thing she needed to get rid of that obnoxious blush. Sure, she didn't have a lot of air, but she had done this the previous day too, you know. Well, not the whole 'getting dropped into water' part, but the 'cold water' part, you know. Diving up a little ways deeper in the lake, her toes just barely touching the soil, she took a new breath and pushed her hair to the back with both of her hands. Now, that was refreshing. And then she felt the need to go over the recent experience. Great, her heart rate picked up again. It was official. I mean, he had just touched her. Seriously, she should've gotten a grip of this 'Seth thing'. Obviously, she was head over heels now. Yet, she didn't think this would actually be the situation to tell him.. he might drown from shock and while she wouldn't mind doing CPR, she didn't wish that for the guy. Letting out a sigh, she glanced back at the other source of splashes. Well, she'd tell him the next time they met... which might just be the next day, really. I mean, they were the same element and all that. It was so strange... she usually had no problem showing affection or talking about her sympathies, but this case was worse. She felt as if she was going to destroy their friendship in case he didn't feel the same way... therefore, she would have a blast that night and go and be a terrible friend the next time. Besides, this thing was getting really hard to get out of her mind. It showed up more frequently and as annoying as it was, she sort of liked it.
"You do realize that I'll be dunking you under water as soon as I get the chance, right?" she laughed. Then again, she probably meant it, you know. The blonde swam halfway back to him before she stopped and just rose a brow. "You still plan on staying in the shallows, hun? Well, suite yourself." she teased, slipping back and just floating on her back. Wow, would you look at that. The sky was actually clear. Damn, there was a lot stars out.

Seth moved his arms around a little in the water, enjoying the way his movements weren't all that fast as they were on dry land. The water caressed his arms like a long lost friend, giving them a slightly tingly feeling. The breeze was still blowing, and he thought his head would freeze if it didn't stop. So he ducked underwater once again, where it was calm and peaceful and not as cold. He opened his eyes, but he saw nothing but darkness, and a little bit of light that penetrated the surface of the lake up to a certain point. His eyes started to sting a little, so he closed them again. He blew out the breath in his lungs, hearing the muffled sounds of the bubbles of air escaping back to the surface. He then pushed himself out of the water, took another deep breath, fell back inside, and repeated the process a few more times, getting used to the way the water pressed against his chest and lungs. From experience, he knew that this would help him hold his breath for a longer period of time and help ease the uncomfortable pressure on his lungs when he was underwater. Underwater, in the middle of one of his many bubble-blowing breaths, he stopped for a moment. He let his body go limp and just stayed that way. After a while, it started to feel like he was floating through space. Unless he flexed a finger, moved an arm or a muscle, he felt nothing of the water surrounding him except for its temperature. It was an odd feeling, and it perplexed him a bit, but at the same time, it held a little bit of wonder. If he disregarded the building discomfort in his lungs, it would feel like... nothing at all. Like non-existence. Maybe that's what people felt like before they were born and after they died. Finally, he couldn't take the pressure in his lungs anymore. Pushing his feet against the silty ground of the lake, he let out his breath as he broke through the surface of the lake with a splash and took a deep breath. He pushed his hair side-wards with his hand and squeezing it a bit to get rid of the excess water. He made it just in time to hear Elly talk. He snorted, the sound loud and distinct against the sounds of splashing water and the breeze. "You? Dunk me? In the water? I'd like to see you try." his voice was just dripping with the sugary bitter-sweetness of challenge. He didn't think that she could do it. What with her size and all, compared to his, there was just no way she was going to beat him physically, unless she caught him by surprise. And even then, it would be hard. "I was just warming up." he grinned, before he launched himself into the water, but with more precision, accuracy, and purpose this time. He cut through the water efficiently, with prowess that was seldom found in fire students. Like he had said earlier, his mom had taught him while he was still young, despite his obvious dislike of water then. But he had gotten used to it eventually, and after that, his progress quickened. As he neared her, he got an idea. The next time he pushed his head underwater, he didn't stay on the shallow part, but instead, he burrowed deep into the water. He could feel the pressure of the water against his ears. He didn't go too deep, so it was tolerable. He swam forward underwater, cutting through the water like any sharp or thin object would, and when he reached the part where he estimated Elly was floating under, he pushed himself up from the water against the floor of the lake, which was deeper than he had expected, reaching into his pocket as he did so, and discreetly dropping the toy spider onto her stomach in the chaos, before dropping back down into the water like the little ninja he was. Underwater, he smiled and waited for a reaction. The water entered his slightly parted mouth, but he spat it out before he could taste it. He was pretty sure that where he and Elly saw a swimming pool, many other animals saw a toilet. I was a disgusting thought, and he tried not to think about it, less he puke or something. tag;; Freya Ella Frost words;; tralalala spiderrr notes;; 741 lyrics;; I'm Yours by Jason Mraz credits;; me-- just wanted to try it out XD
