Freedom. Finally he was out of that stupid detention class,
tention in there had been so thick you could have cut it with a knife
and broke the blade half way down. All this war mess and no one
can get along anymore. Demetri was loyal to his element, but even
so he thought all this was so childish. He shrugged his shoulders
and popped the little ear buds back into his ears and cranked the
noise coming from his iPod; Black Dog - Led Zepplin, and walked his
way across the school grounds. It was still early enough in the day
for him to not want to go back to the dorms, but too late for him to
want to go into town.. even though it'd been days since he'd taken
his baby out for a spin. What to do, what to do.
He wandered aimlessly, not even paying attention to whatever
particular direction he was going, and before long he found himself
standing in the shade of the trees that lined the lake. Mother
nature's privacy fence. He glanced around and noticed that the
place was abandoned, as per usual. He never could understand
why he didn't see more people here.. it really was a pretty place.
All the sudden the shade he was standing in got darker, he glanced
up and watched the thunderheads roll in. April showers.. Demetri
really did like the rain but it was getting to be a bit much even for
him. His hazel eyes stayed fixed on the clouds, zoning out
everything else completely, until the he felt the first drop of rain.
Right on his nose. His face twisted up in a suprised squint and he
shook his head, golden locks, which were hanging neatly behind
him, fell all around his face and shoulders. That one drop of water
had been like the cork being pulled out of a bath tub, all the
sudden the rain was coming down steadily. For a change the
shower was nice, just a calm rain, no thunder today.
He sighed and pulled the headphones out of his ears and quickly
stuffed his mp3 player into his bag in hopes to save it from the
moisture, then glanced out at the lake. Its usual placid surface was
now a mess of ripples from the rain drops, it just looked so
inviting.. He picked up his bag and hung it on a low branch as to
not leave it on the wet ground then pulled off his shirt and hung it
on the same branch then took off his shoes, tucking them carefully
into one of the outside pockets on his bag. Slowly he strode across
the patch of groomed grass that lie between the trees and the
shore. As soon as he stepped out from under the trees the rain
began to soak him before he even hit the lake, the little droplets
falling fast enough that not all of them were turned to steam when
they hit his skin, he stopped once to flex his toes in the damp
grass, the feeling made him smile.
Finally he made the shore, he was positive he'd drug that short
walk out way longer then he'd needed to, but he didn't care. He
walked into the cool water, all the way in up to his waist before he
leaned forward and disappeared beneath the surface. He popped
up some distance away and pushed his hair out of his face. God he
loved swimming. He leaned back and began to float lazily on his
back, not caring where the ebb and flow of the water took him, he
only cared to forget about the recent drama and to watch the
clouds churn above him.
