"Damn it all to Hell," Xav muttered to himself as his lighter fluid refused to light his cigarette. Just what he needed: something else to make his week a more miserable one. He flung the useless lighter into the water from the bench he was sitting on and snapped his fingers together to get a spark going. Lighting his cigarette, he took a slow, long drag then exhaled the smoke into the colorless sky. The clouds were fully covering the sun, and the atmosphere told him that it was going to be a storm: a thunder storm. That explains why this guy is antsy and extra pumped up, but that's not the reason why he's angry.
He's still mourning the death of his sister-like friend Cynthia. He was supposed to protect her; to be her bodyguard or whatever. She sure as hell needed one. Where the hell was he at? Why didn't she call out for help? But more importantly, where was he? He brought a strong thick hand through his skull-trimmed haircut in anxiety. He's been slowly beating himself up for not being there when she needed him, and took on the habit of this cancer stick he held in his hand.
Another drag, another release. He usually looked forward to thunderstorms; he would spend them with Cyn and add more beautiful decorations in the sky. He remembered when the lightning was about to strike them, he would channel it and push out towards the sky, forming words, symbols or animals. Damn. He's gonna miss that.
He looked over to left and eyed a group of students coming by making total asses of themselves. They turned out to be two Water kids and one Earth kid. His eye started to twitch as the neared him and it took all the strength that he could to not go over there and drown them in the lake. So he forced himself to look at the big pool of water and continue his bad habit in misery. He looked over to his right at the seat where Cyn would've sat and stroked it, mourning its missing partner.

Though Em didn't much like all the rain, she was appreciating the warm weather. Using her fire was now much less taxing, and put that together with all that she'd learned during the winter months, she was feeling pretty good about herself. A couple encounters had taught her that she was not the best fighter in the world, but she was working on it. Right now she was at about the 'holding her own' level, meaning she'd lick them if she had a strength on them, and the outcome was indefinite if there was neither weakness nor strength.
Anyway, the warmth lured her out of the academy more often than usual, and this was one of those occasions. She could see the thunderstorm clouding the sky, feel and smell rain in the air as the storm prepared to break. But right now it was calm, and she wanted to make the most of it before she went inside. At this point, she was absently keeping a tiny ball of fire, about half the size of her fist, hovering around her. It was mostly a scare tactic to keep people away from her right now, but she was also scoping for someone to throw it at.
There. There were kids making fools of themselves at the lake. She was about to rashly step up to them when her eyes caught a familiar face. She almost didn't notice, but when it registered, she did a double take. Her expression clouded over with concern, and she momentarily forgot all about her previous aim. Her ball of fire faded and her feet carried her swiftly to the figure sitting on the ground near the lake. Xavier. Smoking, looking depressed and just about ready to throw himself in.
Em, though she was not the type to let people into her deeper emotions, was tempted to get all motherly and concerned. But something stopped her, and before she knew it she was walking calmly up to him with neither a smirk nor a frown, and sitting when he had just had his hand. For a second she was just there, being silent for him, allowing him to soak in the comradeship she was trying to exude. Then she leaned her shoulder into his. ”I hear those things are really bad for your health.”
It wasn't a judgment, she hoped her could tell. It was an observation on how he was doing. Em hadn't know the thunder leader very well, but she had been aware than Cynthia and Xavier were very, very good friends. Respect, protectiveness, and everything. So while he words said one thing, her voice said, ”Just cause she's gone, doesn't mean you don't have anyone.” Or something similarly deep like that. However, before he could say anything back that was remotely touchy-feely, she pointed at the spot that the waters and earth were, ”You know, it's much more pleasant right there. Why don't we kick some ass and take the spot?”

Lost in his thoughts, he didn't register someone walking up to him until that person sat down. He looked to his right to eye Emilia. He nodded at her and gave her a weak smile, then looked back towards the lake in silence.
He first noticed that she didn't say anything once she sat beside him. He liked and appreciated that move. They must've known each other well. Usually when he's in this mood, the first person who talks to him he snaps at. No, he's never done that to Em, but she's seen him do it to others, and it was usually nasty. It's either that, or he's in a worse state than he thinks he's in, and she didn't know what to say. Well, neither did he.
Xav felt her shoulder press against his and heard her words. I hear those things are really bad for your health. He can tell that she didn't mean to nag at him, just and observation. He sighed and let out some smoke away from Em, not to be rude. "Yeah well..." He didn't know how to really respond to that comment. He knew it was bad for him; he started smoking way before coming here. He stopped for a good while because he hasn't been in depression in a long time, until now. He didn't want to consider himself one of those hardcore smokers; it's just some type of stress relief, and the school is more okay with smoking than drinking. Not like he really cared about what they think, he just didn't feel like getting into it with them.
Now that he thought about it, he hasn't gotten into it with anyone lately. He has at least one day a week where he eases himself by either beating something, or someone, up. His palms started to itch for that need to release, and Em's next comment hit it right on the nail.
He looked over to where the students are at and a small smile formed on his lips. Looking back over to his friend, he stood up and stuck his hand out to help her up. "Let's."

Wow, he was much worse than Em had first supposed. Her heart went out to him, but for now she actually sensed it would be better to let him have his thoughts. When he didn't even find a full sentence to answer her with, however, she knew something must be done. It pained her to seem him like this, much more than it usually would have if it hadn't been Xav. She might've tried to get people out of their slumps with teasing, playing, cajoling, under other circumstances. But no, not with Xav. She wanted to comfort him.
Apparently what she'd said had been just the ticket. She smiled with him, accepting his hand and rising gracefully to her feet. He was still talking a hell of a lot less than he'd used her, but at least he was moving again. She gave his hand a gentle squeeze before she let go, gaining a look of 'all business' and centering her focus on the three targets. As she walked forward, she opened her right hand, a whip of flame forming in her grasp, ”Needless to say, you should take the two water sophomores. I'll get the earth senior.” It was a rather fair trade off. The dynamic of a fight changed considerably when it was two against one, but Xav had a superior element.
Striding up to the goofy trio, Emilia raised her chin and called out, ”Hey, bitches! That's our spot, unless you want to fight for it.” She raise her brow, sending a challenge to the earth student. He jeered at her, ”What if we don't want to give it up or fight for it?” A little bit of her inner dork entered her, and she found herself quoting what she'd heard from a video game that Jacob had once played: ”Apathy is death.” She shrugged, then with a quick movement sent the whip through the air at him. She trusted Xav to distract the two waters before they could intervene, and this allowed her to focus on her own battle, on the satisfaction of the eyes of her opponent widening with fear.

Xav can tell that he was worrying her. Hell, he's worrying himself. This is the first time in a long time he's been like this. The other time was when he ran away from the military school and living on his own for about a year. He missed his mother and his younger brother, but not the bastard of the father he had. He was just getting back at Xav for giving him a blackie when he was attacking his mom. Served the douche right.
He threw out his cigarette as he and Em walked toward the group of fools. "Gotcha," was his reply to Em's comment. They both knew that she'd do a hell of a lot better with the Earth senior than he would, so he didn't mind taking on the puny two sophomores. He's easily taller and heavier than all of them, so he could've technically taken down the senior, but he Em choose what she wanted. Ladie's first, and Xav's a gentleman.
He tried his best not at Em's comment towards the group. Xav found her anger so cute and a turn on, but chose best to not mock Em right now. While Em was handling the senior, he focused his attention on the two sophomores. "Hey there squirts. Don't be stupid like your friend. Leave while you still can walk." Xav can easily fulfill that threat, and the two kids knew that too as they gazed with fear up at him. They looked back towards the senior and shock their heads. One of them said. Sorry Bigfoot. We ain't moving. A dark laugh erupted out of Xav. "Wrong choice." With a flash, he zoomed in towards the larger of the two. He gave him an upper cut to the jaw, which sent the kid flying. The smaller one was shocked and sent a blast of water towards Xav's way. Too bad for the chump, with Xav's huge body it hardly had any effect. He stormed towards the kid and yoked him up by the collar and tossed him to the side with his other friend. Xav then switched his attention to Em to see how she's handling things.

The earthie was taken so much by surprise that he actually moved the earth to protect himself. Em laughed a bit when the ground suspended in the air and blocked the strike, backing off and raising her free hand just in case she had to deflect an attack. But the boy let the earth drop, frowning ferociously at her and opening his mouth to tell her off. Her eyes twinkled, and she just shook her head at him because swinging the whip around her again and sending it in for another, higher strike.
The boy brought the ground up again, this times over his head, but she let the flames dissipate before they touched, sending a bolt of flame at him instead. He tried to block the attack, but only got half of it—the rest set his clothes on fire and seared his arm a bit. Not too much damage, but it had Emilia smiling sweetly at him. ”Hun, why don't you just go on and play somewhere else?”
He yelped a bit when he got burned, but now he was angry. He started on the offensive, shooting roots out of the ground beneath Em's feet and trying to tangle her legs up. But she wasn't trying to walk, so she just set them on fire and watched them whither beneath her. When she looked back up, he was slumped over a bit and breathing hard, his energy sapped by his constant use of powers and the fire that had touched him. Em also noticed that Xav was looking over at them. She smile at him, giving him a short little salute. ”Yours are getting up again.” She pointed out, then turned back to the earth guy.
”So you wanna run away?” She grinned, stepping slowly toward him. He nodded, but she just pouted and shook her head, a ball of flame appearing in her hand. ”Well then, start running!” He did, and she threw mini fireballs after him until she started feeling the fatigue. She hit him twice more, once making him fall over, and then she smirked at his retreating figure. Ah, she'd needed that. Nothing like a good ass-whipping to start the day off right. She then glances at Xav, hoping he had also gotten a cathartic moment or two in there.

Xav smiled in satisfaction seeing Em handle the fool with ease. Speaking of which, he turned his attention back to the two he had. Apparently they didn't have enough of what Xav was serving them. Well, he guesses he has to take it up a notch.
"You know, you guys are brave. I'll have to commend you on that," he said while walking slowly and menacing towards them. "But bravery can be fatal..." They both worked together to gather some water from the nearby lake and form a huge ball. They pushed it towards them, and Xav put up an electric shield to block it off. The force pushed him back some ways, and also got him wet, but other than that he was fine. Soaking wet, sparks of electricity formed over him as anger swelled within. "You should not have done that..." They should NOT have gotten him wet. He hated that wet feeling. If he wasn't swimming or taking a shower, he didn't like wetness. He formed an electric ball that grew larger and larger to match his rage. He heard the guys whimpering, which made the senior laugh darkly.
Okay...we'll leave...just relax Smiling, Xav replied. "You've had your chance. It's far too late." He released his energy ball at the two. It was twice as large as their ball, so they tried their best to copy his shield with their water. It was no use, his ball went threw it and knocked the two back at least 30 feet. They didn't move from their spots, so he knew they must've been unconscious. Just to make sure, he jogged over there and checked their pulses. Yup, still breathing. Sure it was a little extreme for sophomores, but today was not a good day to bother him.
He looked over at Em to see her victim was running off. He looked back at his own and felt pride shoot through him. Pride and...relief. Apparently he needed that. Too bad for them though. Where they lost theirs he gained a little of his spirit. He shook his head and with a small smile, he walked over to Em. "So, you have as much fun as I did?"

Though she was a hardened callous bitch, Em was a little bit wary when she saw Xav stepping over and checking the two kid's pulses. Beating the crap out of a person was one thing, but killing them was a little serious, and she really didn't want to have to deal with any of that right now. But he returned unperturbed, absolutely nothing on hi face showing the distress that accidentally killing someone would cause. She smiled back at him, then frowned when she noticed that he was wet.
”Here.” The fire senior moved close to her friend, looking up at him with a smirk and cocking her head a little bit. ”Let me dry you off.” She opened her hands and held them close to him, frowning with concentration as she called on the heat in her body, compounded it, and sent it out to dry him off. She was not nearly as good at it as any college-lever student would be, but she had learned it initially a few months ago. With a little time a concentration, she got Xav dry, and all he would have felt would be a slightly uncomfortable heat for a few seconds.
Feeling her energy draining, Emilia let out a long breath and shook her head a bit. ”Damn, that's still really hard....” She muttered, not really to him, but he was so close to her he'd be able to catch it. After another second of making sure she wouldn't get dizzy, the girl frowned at the ground and took a step away from him. Then she flashed him an innocent, delighted smile, ”Why yes! That was exactly what a girl needs to get some pep in her step!”
Good lord, that sounded all preppy and corny. But she was tired, so she just laughed at herself and moved to sit down near the lakeside. After a couple seconds, she looked back up at Xav, patting the sand beside her expectantly. ”C'mon, mister. I'm not done with you yet.”

She was rattled that he almost killed these two kids. Well, Xav would be too if he cared. Plus, he knew what he was doing. If he wanted them dead then there would've been no remains left. They'll wake up...eventually. He'll say about a few hours tops. He smiled back when she smiled at him. He looked down when she did and gave her a sheepish smile.
Let me dry you off was what she said, and he'll be more than happy to let her. He struck out his arms and allowed her to hover over him. Speaking of things sticking out...his manhood was about to copy his arm gesture and stick straight out. Okay, concentrate dude...think about Mrs. Aglas in a bikini.... Oh yeah, that did it. The old lady should be shot on the spot if she ever did that sort of thing. He felt the warm hum of her hand skimming over him and he started to dry a little. Over the chest...down his abs...over his... Oh damn, not again. Mrs. Aglas....Mrs. Aglas... It slowly started to work. When she finished, he tried to not let out a sigh of relief.
hard!?" He said in a little rush and fast. Oh, she was referring herself. Wheww. He noticed that she looked a little dizzy, so he put his head on her back to support her. "Careful there little lady. Maybe you've used up a too much juice." He then laughed at her comment half-heatedly. "Yeah, I know that feeling. I needed it too I guess." It was true. He really did feel a lot better after punishing those two.
Giving her his signature smirk, he followed and sat beside her. He leaned back, letting his arms fall behind him and his feet sticking out. "Oh?" He said to her comment. "Well then, what do you have planned for me?"

Emilia had to work hard to keep her concentration as she dried the boy off, which was probably not something she need ever tell him. She liked the light touching, and she had to keep her eyes off of his face, lest she catch some sort of sign that he liked it, too. Because if she lost her concentration, she would probably burn him to a crisp with the amount of power she was using. When she was done, however, the girl felt like fainting from exhaustion. Good lord. She was so tired, that it didn't even occur to her what he'd said.
His hand on her back was helpful, and the usually hard-as-a-rock young lady did nothing to making him move it until she felt she could make it a short distance without passing out. The fire senior eventually smiled at him and made her way to her seat by the lake. Her fingers dug absently into the sand, legs sprawling out in a way that somehow managed to be attractive and comfortable at the same time. Emilia was good at that. She practiced. Taking a deep breath, she forced good humor into her tired voice when he asked her what she had in mind.
Jacob's accent had always gotten thicker when he was feeling stressed, or exceptionally silly. But Emilia's tended to fall lazily into her thicker London accent when she got too tired to try and blend in. As a result, right now it was back the way it had been when she'd been living in England. ”I've figure out the perfect girl for you, Xavier, dear. But just to make sure, I figured I'd make a little game out of it.” She leaned backward with her hands to support her and turned her head to smile at her friend. ”You should guess. If you can't get her name before I get bored, then I don't help you anymore.”
It was a test, of course. Emilia was very good at making it seem like she was only superficially interested, but the truth was that she cared more about Xav than any other man she knew. Unable as she was to breach the walls of more-than-friends, she was going give him one last chance to do it himself. Then she'd....well. She didn't exactly know what she'd do, really.

Xav was glad that she kept her eyes on his body for two reasons: the first was because he had a great body; He enjoyed people looking at his abs. The other reason is because he might have broken if they made eye contact. Broken what, he didn't know. Maybe feelings would come out, both bad and good. He honestly didn't want either, so he was glad her eyes didn't look up to his. Talk about awkward.
Frankly, he was surprised she didn't swat his hand away from the position it was in. Maybe it's because it wasn't in a bad place this time. That could be it, but he was used to her moving his hand away. He looked at his hand on her back and noticed how small she is compared to him. His hand almost covered all of her back, which is good because she needed the support right now.
"Maybe we shouldn't have done that. I was fine where we were previously." That's something the famous Xavier would never say. He's isn't the type to regret what has already been done, but when his friends are hurt in any way, some of his inner feelings comes out. Honestly, he enjoyed the fight; he needed that fight, but her safety and well-being is more important than his needs, and it bothered him that she's in any type of pain.
He smiled at her accent as she spoke to him. He found it a turn on and would secretly yearn for her to talk in it. He raised a questionably eyebrow at her statement and turned to face her. "Oh really?" He said with a smile."Okay, I'm in then." He throws some rocks into the lake as he thought of the first girl on his mind. It's obvious that it's her, but he didn't want to say it...not yet at least. "Rebecca Thomas, the fire chick? She's hot. Is it her?" The first one he said was to make her mad, which he found adorable. Em hated the girl, and so did he which made it extra hilarious.

Emilia made a face at Xavier, ”No you weren't.” It was a little blunt, but she couldn't help it. Inert defensiveness was rising up from the fact that she'd heard something in his voice, something that was much too close to caring than she liked. She took a deep breath, shaking her head a bit, ”No, you weren't fine. You were about to explode in...something. If I hadn't come by, you'd have done much worse than knock those two kids out.” Then she paused, frowning a little bit. Well, that had just come out. But it was true—she knew that in some way, if Xav didn't let himself vent, he would do something drastic and most likely destructive. The girl was very glad she'd wandered into him.
She made a lazy sort of noise moan, then, stretching her neck and arching her back a little. That use of her powers had drained her a little too much. Which was bad, during a war. She made a mental decision to keep close to Xavier for the rest of the day, or at least until she could get back to the fire dorms. With a light little sigh, Em relaxed again a shifted herself so that she could lightly touch shoulders with the boy—even that little amount of weight off of her own muscles was helpful. Plus, he was just comforting in and of hims—no. No no no, it was because she was tired.
She wait while he thought and threw a rock into the lake, eyes idly following it's movement and hovering on the place of impact until the ripples slowly died down. Then he said something... unexpected. So unexpected, in fact, that Emilia didn't react for a few moments, just continued to stare blankly at the lake in front of her. Then she opened her mouth. Then she closed it. Open, close, and then her jaw clenched. Slowly her face turned to his, and she discovered what she knew would infuriate her. Yes, he had just said that to frustrate her. She could see it in his eyes.
”No, it is not Rebecca Thomas.” She ground out, giving his a displeased sneer and then looking back out over the lake. For a couple seconds she was silent, and then she added, ”That girl's an even bigger bitch than I am, and that's saying something. I think it's safe to say that I would never, ever, set someone as good as you up with her.”

Xav looked back at her with a questionable look. Well that came out a little strong he thought as he looked at her with curious eyes. After listening to her explanation, he gave her a half nod in agreement. Either she knew him well, or his state of mind and body is bad enough for anyone to tell. Still, he would have been fine where they were at if it meant Em didn't have to feel as weak as she did now. Something bad would have probably happened later though, if she hadn't come. He gave her a sideways smile in thanks then watched her movements.
Uh oh, it's coming back. He felt his manhood jerk up in response to her movements. And the moan...oh man that was a turn-on. Aglas...Aglas...AGLAS! he thought and turned away from her so he wouldn't see her errotic-making movement. He sat up and brought his knees up, so his package was less visible to her. He tried not to look back at her, but failed and did so anyway. How she looked made his heart jump. She's so weak. A quick occurred to him, and he wanted to go back there and knock those kids out for good. No one hurts his Em and gets away with it...
Right after said Rebecca's name, he made sure to fully turn his attention to her to see her reaction. It was so worth it seeing her face go from confusion, to denial, to anger, then disgust. He roared a loud laughter that he tried so hard and failed to keep in. "I'm just kidding Em. I wouldn't date that bitch even if she were the last bitch on earth." He thought for a moment, then spoke again. "Well, if she were the last girl on earth..." He let his voice trail off and ducked away from a possible future swat on his behalf.
"I would never, ever, set someone as good as you up with her.” .....Say what? He looked over at the lake as if he didn't hear her, then back at her. She thinks I'm good? She said as good as you. That put a smirk on his face. "How many more guesses until you get bored?"

Emilia gave Xav one of the worst death glared he'd ever gotten when he burst out laughing. Fortunately for one or both of them, he was too busy laughing to get the full effect of it. At the tail end of it she just snorted quietly and put her decidedly unamused gaze back on the slow-moving waters. If he wanted to joke about something like that, he could have at least decided on a girl she didn't have the constant urged to toss off the highest tower. That girl....That girl.
Eventually, however, his words got through to her, and she was just shifting her weight to bat at Xav's face when he ducked out of the way. Good thinking. Em got a little smirk despite herself. They really did know each other well, didn't they? Placing her hand back beneath her, she let out a resigned breath and shrugged a bit, ”I suppose if she were the last girl on earth I could forgive you.” She said, then turned her head to smile playfully at him, ”But only if you tried very, very hard to save me from whatever calamity took the rest of us.”
At this point she wasn't even trying to hide her accent. Her rich london tones were coming out unobstructed. She had an inkling he liked it, since he always smiled (or smiled wider) when she let it out. When he asked her the question, she put an indifferent expression on and idly dug at the sand with her right hand. Her eyes watched the work for a moment, then she shrugged again, ”Well, you'll just have to figure that out. I did put too much work into this to give it up in the first few tries.” Then she glanced at him, ”But hey, I've been known to be fickle.”

He eyed her death glare, but was too busy rolling on the ground laughing his ass off to notice or care. He wished that her look would have no effect on him, but it did. He can honestly say it scared him...just a little. Luckily for him, she's the only one who could do that and that's because he allowed. Simple as that.
He was right, of course. He dodged her attack with perfect timing, but not quick enough to not feel anything. Her hand touched the tip of his shaved head. He could of sworn he felt heat come from her hand, but maybe it was just him.
He nodded at her request. "Of course girl. You're the first woman I'd save from whatever apocalyptic event that took place. Right next to my mom of course." It was true. He'd save the top three women that were important in his life. His mom, Asha, and definitely Em. There would have been four...but thanks to his slackness he's missing one. He put a large hand on his head, feeling a headache coming on. This would occur when he's stressing about something. God only knew how much he hated himself...
He smiled at her comment. "Okay then. How about Sally Hansen. She hot and smart. Two and one. You know how rare that is? Very." He gave her a short nod then looked off into the lake dramatically while thinking of more chicks on his list.
