POSITIVE TRAITS
- Accepting – being blind, Elaine never learned to discriminate based on physical beauty, color, etc.
- Peaceful – Elaine has a way of dissolving the heat in a situation, with a level head and a dislike of the noisiness of disputes.
- Playful – Though he lack of sight gets in the way sometimes, Elaine likes teasing, poking, and otherwise having good-natured fun with her friends.
- Clever – Elaine is very smart, and has learned resourcefulness
- Fearless – very little scares Elaine, be it an intimidating voice or the feeling of heat from a fire.
NEGATIVE TRAITS
- Temper – There have been tornadoes due to Elaine's fits of anger. She has a long fuse, but frustrations abound for a girl who cannot see, and sometimes she takes it out on people.
- Rebellious – Not in the usual sense. But if Elaine is challenged by another student, she had a great temptation to throw the challenge in their face. As much as she prefers to diffuse other people's fights—and even her own—there is a certain point where she will become the aggressor and do all in her power to drive the other person into the ground.
- Stubborn – Miss Elaine makes up her mind resolutely, and can very rarely be dissuaded from her decisions.
- Depressed – Not all the time, but she is prone to falling into depressions every once in awhile, be it from failing a grade, losing a friend, or a rather nasty remark about her disability
- Distant – Both because of past experience and things she's already experienced at this school, Elaine has a hard time trusting people to get very close. There have been a lot of pranks and jokes played on her in the past, mostly having to do with her blindness.

- Ability to “see” with her wind, adapted because of her blindness.
- Level head
- Powerful will/personality
- Better than average sense of smell.
- Far better than average hearing
WEAKNESSES
- Blind
- When her temper goes it's lost for a long time
- English class

WORST MEMORY When she was eight, her father lost track of her on a vacation at the beach. She tried to find him, but wandered the wrong way and was almost swept out to sea by a ripe-tide. A life guard got to her, but she never trusted water again.
LONG-TERM GOAL To overcome her fear of water.

MOTHER Amee Sophia Reynold (deceased), N/A.
FATHER Richard Allen Reynold (42), Pediatrician.
SIBLINGS N/A
OTHER Aunt: Celia May Forster (38), Musician.
Cousin: May Emily Forster (18), College Student
HISTORY Elaine wasn't born blind. She was a very healthy baby, but her mother faded rapidly after her birth. In a few days, she was too weak to nurse Elaine, so her Aunt, who had just had a child of her own, came to stay with them and care for both children at once. Elaine's father helped as much as possible, but was almost always needed her mother's side. As a result, Celia was the one Elaine first called mama, and Celia was the one who saw her first steps.
Her mother looked as though she was going to finally recover when Elaine was almost one. Celia and her daughter went back to their home and family, and Amee came back home to finish recovering. Then, a month later, all three were in a car crash. A truck skidded on the highway in front of them, and the ensuing pile-up started a fire in their car. Amee was closest, and died of third degree burns the next day. Richard was burned, but survived. Elaine was, overall, the least injured. But the fire was too close to her eyes, and the intense heat ruined her eyes. The doctors were able to keep the skin from scarring, but ever since, she had grey-colored scarring on her eyes.
Richard was a mess for years afterward. He and Elaine moved into Celia's home so that they could be taken care of while they recovered both physically and emotionally. Celia basically became Elaine's mother, and was the one who helped her learn piano and violin when she was older. May was at first a very good friend to Elaine, but she grew jealous of her mother's lavish attentions to Elaine and as they grew older they grew apart.
Elaine started in public school, but May lead a brutal bullying assault on her and she was pulled out of school and home schooled. She was angry, hurt, and came very close to successful suicide a couple of times before Celia staged an intervention. Celia dropped all semblance of a career and was at Elaine's side 24/7. She taught her mastery over several instruments, helped her get the hang of braille, and generally kept her company and feeling loved.
When Elaine was eight, her father took her to the beach and her worst memory occurred.
When she was almost fourteen, her elemental power emerged. She was sent the acceptance letter to the school in the next few months, and was at the school the january after she turned fourteen. Here she has mixed feelings. She likes learning how to use her wonderful power that allows her to “see”, but she misses her aunt and her father. Even (or especially) here, she has had to deal with pranks and bullying, but as least here she has a way of fighting back, and she has a community, albeit a loose-knit one.

RP SAMPLE My Character Isili on DragonspireThe sun was creeping slowly toward the horizon. While it was still light out, Isili could see the bright orbs movement by shading her eyes and staring slightly to one side of it. After a number of seconds, she could tell it had moved significantly. That gave her another hour, maybe two of daylight. As much as she was comfortable here, she knew it would be best to find a safe place to stay during the night. One her own, it would be dangerous to camp on the forest floor, the pickings for wolves. But for now she had enough time to possibly make the day's work successful. If she could get a small doe, it would give her enough money to travel to Vasta.
Leaping from the bough she had formerly been occupying, the lithe elf began the painstakingly thorough search. It was not long before she came upon the tracks of a wolf. Her brow furrowed, and she softly put a gloved hand in the indent. Judging by the size, it was a dire wolf. Possibly, though not necessarily, well over a meter tall. While common sense told her to scurry off and avoid it, a sly little smile hovered over her mouth. Dire wolf pelts—and meat—went for a great sum. Besides, they were fun to hunt.
The trail was fresh, and thankfully not too very difficult to follow amongst the movements of the forest. She kept herself hidden as she judged she was gaining, and just when she was about to climb a tree and continue following from there, she came upon the den. Small noises met her ears, little snuffles and scrapings. Pulling her bow out, Isili crept forward, her expression growing more curious as she scooted toward the large den. She was about five feet away, hidden in the bushes, when she could make out the litter of wolf cubs tumbling about in the den.
”Sh--” She slapped a hand to her mouth to keep herself from finishing the formation of the curse, but that first syllable was all the wolf mother needed. There was a second during which Isili's wide eyes met the fierce yellow eyes of the wolf, and then it was all a blur.
Isili shot off like a rocket. If it had been a grey wolf, she might have been able to back off and be let off with a few warning snaps, but dire wolves were not like that. They killed anything that came near their dens, especially if there were puppies. The huge beast was out of he cave before Isili'd made it twenty yards away, and it was gaining on her. Wind rushed past her, her heart was in her throat, and her limbs flew with the speed of adrenaline, but she still managed to get her bow securely stuffed into her quiver.
First chance she got, she made a great leap, hands grasping the highest branch she could reach. She hauled herself up, thinking for a second that she was going to make it out ok. But her shaking hands slipped, and she faltered for a second, losing the precious time needed to get out of the wolf's reach. It jumps, latching it's huge jaws on her left leg, and pulled her down with it.
A feral scream left her mouth, and she slashed the beast's face with her sword before she realized she'd drawn it. It yelped, dropped her and rushed back a few steps. Isili tried to stand, but her leg, torn all over from the knee down, would not have it. So she scooted so that her back was to the tree trunk and her sword was held out in the front of her. She grimaced as the predator circled her, snarling. It was bleeding profusely from a deep gash along one eye, but that would not keep it wary for long.
One of her hands briefly found her injured ankle, testing it with agonizing speed. Good. Her tendon was not shorn. Not that it really mattered—only a miracle would get her out of this alive.
