YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Fine so this was, probably, not the best thing to do. So what? Natt was bored, most of the teachers were pricks and the whole war thing was a drag. Who cared, really? This killed that, that must die. God, if it were her pride that was torched, then yes, she'd be part of it... But, as you can see, she was still pretty proud, so no need to get caught up and perhaps even gain a few new scars. If you're wondering what was the wrong thing Natt was about to do, simple - she was about to break into a classroom (in the process of it, actually). Why? Well, there was a big math test tomorrow and she didn't really feel like studying. So, she'd just get the test today, go over it and get a nice grade the next day. No one would notice this. Yes, even the teachers. Why, again? Well, because she wouldn't be caught, of course.
Still working on the lock with her hairpin and a longer needle, the girl had her gray eyes focused on the lock. She was on one knee at that moment and waiting patiently to crack the lock. When she received a 'clack' in response, a smirk curled the corners of her full lips. She was in! Quickly, glancing around, the girl stood up and went inside, leaving a little gap in the door. This way she could hear better. In case a teacher came, she'd make up an excuse that she forgot her book or something. Actually, that was the first thing she did after entering the class - she went to one of the back rows and sat her math book in a desk. There, now she had a reason to be there.
With no time to waste, she went back to the teacher's desk, opening drawer by drawer until she found what she was looking for. Now, just need a picture... she thought to herself, while pulling out her i-phone. Yes, she used one of those too. Cliche as it might be, but hey - they got the job done.

So the day was finally starting to slow down to a stand still. Funny how earlier, time flew by in Sean's classes as he was eager to learn his subjects and found he actually enjoyed learning. Despite the usual loooooong lectures that made him yawn every so often. But he payed attention, no doubt, writing down notes for future references. The boy liked too, that there were subjects that got him to show off his amazing growth skills but when it was time for destructive ones, he was usually not paying much attention.
Why use his powers to destroy when creation was better?
If tests came, he'll just make up with his creator spells over the offensive ones. He needed none of such brutal forces. That was all behind though, seeing as how he'd been so engrossed with studying that time had flown by without him noticing. If most kids found time to stop when school started, time for him dragged when he was left alone with nothing to do after classes.
Sean groaned and nearly bumped his head on a wall for lack of stuff to do. His usual strut carried his padded boots up and down the polished hallway and for lack of anything better to do, found himself whistling a soft tune and swinging his brown leather bag back and forth. At least it was something.
Turning round a corner though, he stopped as the back of a girl entered a classroom and he vaguely wondered what class had lectures this late. Maybe he could take extra credite courses.
Perfect!
He was such a genius!
A smile replaced the blank expression on his face as life finally started to flow back into his veins. He pushed open the door slowly and peeked inside, wanting to ask the professor for permission to enlist himself. He frowned though, when at first he saw no one inside and as he turned the door wider, his eyes opened wide in shock as he finally realized what the girl was doing.
Sean cleared his throat and shook his head, arms folding on his chest.
"You know, you could get expelled if someone caught you," his voice suddenly filled the stillness in the room. "That someone would probably be me." He stared her down and despite his fondness for girls, Sean narrowed his eyes at her as if to scold and reprimand. She was cheating, and cheating was on the top of his most-baddest-things in the world, next to bullying.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Now then, she was so close. Really, there was no need to fear, obviously. And who said she couldn't pull this off? Well, look at her now, you guys! Almost through with it. Just a click of a button and she's home free... Perhaps it was her confidence at the moment that hindered her from hearing someone approach. Well, who am I kidding, of course it was her confidence. So you can understand her surprise when she heard that sound. The sound of someone clearing their throat was never just that. In this case it was probably a 'What do you think you're doing?' more than anything else. Great... just great.
The girl jumped slightly. All that adrenaline had worked her up a little and she couldn't help but submit to her surprise when someone actually caught her. Her first instinct was to straighten up and push the drawer shut with her hip. Only then did she evaluate the person lucky enough to capture her red-handed. But really, she was so close, you know.
Oh! It wasn't a teacher. Gosh, she was saved from a long explanation. Yet, she had to do something about this guy. "You know, you could get expelled if someone caught you," came the first words. Gosh, wasn't he Mr. Correct? He had probably done something wrong in his life too. For a moment there, she wanted to roll her eyes at the guy. Yet the next phrase stopped her: "That someone would probably be me." Yep, that's the phrase right there. Oh, so why did it sound like blackmail would follow soon after. Dad had told her about these situations. This guy, was he there only because he knew about her and wanted to make easy money? Well, too bad. He was rather cute.
Never mind all that, thou. She had to find a compromise here. For now, she could just try to talk herself out of it... For example: "I'm sorry, I have no idea what you mean... I was just looking for my math book." she gave out in a rather calm tone, her hand sliding her phone deep into the back pocket of her jeans. Hey... perhaps she could get through this with words alone?
Gazing around the room, she gave a light pout, as if really not able to find something. "You see, I left it on the first row table, but since it wasn't on any of the tables I guessed I'd check the desk too. In case the teacher picked it up after I left." she said in an almost sad tone, looking back at the guy, her gray eyes now a little sad and her eyelashes sliding over them from time to time. Awwwh... In all of his life, Sean had never cheated, ever. His record was clean and he was proud of it... to himself. No one knew now, because there was no one to tell it too. People who did knew were either dead, God bless their soul, or out of his life forever. If there was something he could really be proud of, that was his honesty in his work and that was that. Everyone could say he was lying for all he cared, he knew better.
He was completely new to this school and knew basically a few people. He may have heard rumors but didn't really know which faces to put above the names. Maybe if time went by, he'd be starting the gossips himself, for now, he was just an observer and a listener and was trying to adjust to everything. Cheating, however, would not be tolerated. He'd give her a piece of his mind even if he didn't know her at all. For as long as she was a student... but he wasn't sure. Some teachers looked as though they were students and he cocked his head to the side, trying to place her.
What if he'd gone to the wrong conclusion. Something he was most capable of doing always. It was one thing to blame a student, it was a bigger thing to blame a teacher.
But when the girl opened her mouth to speak, giving him his answer, he straightened and caught the change of mood around her. See, he'd been around girls for so long, he could think and breathe like a girl. He understood when body language told him they needed a hug, a smile, or a small peck on the cheek... and even lying. It was all there. In her voice, her eyes, her body, everywhere. He could smell it reeking off her as she stood there looking as innocent as could be.
He folded his arms across his chest and nodded, hearing her out. Sean was still studying her intently, his eyes piercing, both a hard solid wall. Her lips jutted out as she looked around the room, brows furrowing. He smiled when she turned the back of her head on him and replaced it with sympathy and understanding as she looked back. He even looked like he wanted to come closer and give her a hug.
"Well," he started, opening the door wider and entering, leaving it open. "I could help you look around since its my free time. I heard exams are coming up." He went to the first desk near him and opened it, proceeding to the next one when he found it empty. He hadn't really waited for a reply, just let himself in and deemed his help needed.
Two people could play this game.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Once she got herself to calm down, the girl took the time to look closer at the guy. Not that bad looking, actually proper... perhaps too correct. Oh no, that meant he probably never partied either. But what was with that change of expression? Natt had to admit, it did shock her slightly. From 'Oh no you di-nnn't!' to 'Awwwh... I like you...' was strange. Of course, she was hoping for a similar change but not to one of such a big scale. Come to think of it... what element was this guy. She knew she hadn't seen him often so he couldn't be a fire or a thunder student. Didn't seem that much older than her so perhaps not a graduate. So, Earth or Water? Yet something about the whole crossing of the arms (look ta me, I'm stable!) and that brown bag made her think about earth... Maybe she'd remember sooner or later.
Upon finishing her evaluation of the guy, she had never expected what happened next. The words over the actions, really. "Well," he said, before stepping further into the class. By then, she knew this might not end ell. because he left the door wide open. If a teacher came she was supposed to do what - pretend as if the door magically opened when she asked nicely? Well... perhaps she could serve bull and say that it was open to a teacher who probably locks it daily. "I could help you look around since its my free time. I heard exams are coming up." Seriously? This had to be the day when someone tries to act friendly? Really? He could blackmail her already, why would he feel the need to actually get her in trouble?
A much appreciated miracle would be a fire alarm in this case, really. But that wasn't about to happen. If she'd be a fire student, she might've just set it off while someone wasn't looking, but being a thunder student, she'd have to blast one of the detectors or actually pull the alarm. In the situation she was now, that wouldn't really be possible. And look at- ... him. The guy was already opening desk after desk. Well, in the end they would find her math book, so that worked... She just didn't like how long this might turn out.
Time after time, the girl had thought this through. She'd get in, get the test, then get out. End of story. Nothing more, nothing less. All that should take less than five minutes. And there just went her five minutes. "Oh, erm... thanks... you really shouldn't bother yourself with this." she gave out, while following up to start out with the desks on the other side of the class. Well, if he did buy it, which she did not see impossible by then, she should at least search for the book too. "So, your name?" Well, she was curious, but also... chitchat was in order in these situations, right? Besides, she was still a little confused as to if he was nice or just another kid trying to get paid. Sean kept getting these glances from the girl. Those glances that were wary, guarded, untrusting. It's not like he was planning on raping her... wait. (barfs in mouth) Sean would never... even the thought... is just.. enough. He shook his head and cleared his throat, suddenly finding the air in the classroom a bit too stuffy. Why'd he gotten fussed up? He had no clue. All he knew was that she, the girl, was giving him, the boy, the looks and he was getting uncomfortable.
Sean's momentary unease was calmed though, when the girl moved on from the teacher's table and then... But then, instead of telling him she'd gone through the tables, she followed his example and started opening the tables as well, checking underneath. She was so busted and she hadn't even noticed her mistake. Probably because she was intent on keeping a wary eye on him that he found it really uncomfortable in his own skin. Sean gulped and kept moving, as long as he moved, he wouldn't feel... agitated.
Maybe it had to do with elements... warring elements. His brain told him and his head almost snapped up at the thought. Almost.
As she spoke to break the now tangible ice in the room, he realized he'd been holding a breather for God knows how long, he almost suffocated. Maybe that's why he'd been feeling stuffy.
"Oh no," he said, hands raising up, palm side up. "I like helping out," he said earnestly, looking at her as he closed another lid, nearing the end of the aisle. "Even when it's not needed," he muttered under his breathe before smiling widely and then proceeding to the next aisle. "I'm Sean, but you can call me whatever you want babe," he chuckled, and then caught himself, shaking his head as yet again, he was using the most inappropriate words... which he always did, around ladies, that is. Talking made him feel easier and flirting made him better. He was such a flirt and it was crazy. "Yours? And... if you don't mind me asking," he leaned in as if it was some secret he was going after, and sometimes it was, truthfully. "What's your sign?"

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Natt didn't see her actions as a mistake. You see, she said she had looked on the tables and that she sat in the first row. Really, there wouldn't be a book in the first row. Or the second one. In the fourth/last... Yes, there you'd find it, if you cared to look. Even if not checking all the tables would seem odd to someone, she would probably be able to convince them otherwise or play stupid and act like she had no creative thinking, whatsoever.
Was her story really that hard to sell? She didn't really give anything away or did she? Well, whatever it was, it shouldn't have been too obvious right? Or was this guy that good? Who was he, anyway?
Interested in who the helper was, she anxiously awaited his name... Yet along with it, she found herself a little taken back once again. Sean... Right, was he really trying to hit on her just there? With that line? She actually felt her eyes widen for a bit and stopped all of her movement at once. Wait, this was strange. She just couldn't figure the guy out. So, now he was friendly and not about to bust her? So he actualy believed her? This was... very, very confusing. So, he wasn't a jerk - wait, what?
In better news... she did find it hard not to laugh at that line. It was a light laugh, but still a laugh. Maybe not even mean, but she couldn't help herself. "You sure have a way with words." she gave out in a slightly teasing tone. "I'm Natt." she said, a little surprised he even asked her name. Her father dug up oil now and then. All the people who wanted to leech did know about now. Perhaps he was playing stupid?
The suspicion was only a normality for her, you have to understand. Most of the time, peple approached her for the money. The teachers who did act nice to her were really hoping to gain something. She knew, because she tended to not care in classess. The girl wasn't a retard. She always passed well. And the one time she tried to get the test beforehand, she got caught. Great... but where was I - ah, the teachers. She did give them the benifit of the doubt, but it had always proved to be in vein, so you can't really blame her if even the staff tended to leech.
Boy oh boy, did he come up with those lines himself or did he look them up in the net. Probably searching something along the lines of 'first pick-up lines ever'... Yet, it was rather amusing, she guessed. Sean was interesting, if she could say so herself. "And what do you think it is?" she asked with a raised brow and a light smirk, while walking to the next table. Oh look, she was getting close to her book. About three more tables. Just need to check them faster...

As Sean's thoughts wandered for a bit, waiting for her to reply as he hadn't noticed he'd been making her a bit unsure of what to make of his character, her first words came into mind. Something about leaving the book on the table and not in the table. He smiled and shook his head at himself, getting all suspicious and assuming that he'd gone to check inside the tables, when clearly, she'd said on the tables.
He guess it was understandable that she'd go look for her book in the teacher's drawers... but without said teacher's permission, and he wondered is she'd gotten permission, it was still against the rules. His eyes trailed back to the door and wondered if the rooms were always unlocked and let basically anyone inside the room. So maybe she had asked for permission. Only problem was...
Why could he smell the lies reeking from her tongue?
Was his radar broken? Of course not, if everything else failed him, his gut senses was something he could rely on. So... He shrugged. Not wanting to give himself a headache. When her words finally got him back onto his feet, he grinned his lopsided grin.
"I sure do," he looked at her from under his lashes, bending over a table. "Hello Natt, what's it short for? Nathanielle? With the -le after it?" He said while he straightened up, still focused on helping her find the book. He knew a few Natts here and there and if he was gonna pinpoint her, Sean needed her real name and have his list narrowed down.
"Well," he continued, trying to figure her out. A few moments of silence as he stared at her and tried to find himself an answer. He wasn't one to read people by just looking, he had to study them, and given the situation he was in, there wasn't that much to work with. He threw his hands up in defeat. "I'unno," he groaned, getting back to work that was easier, eg. finding the book. "It's not like I'm psychic or anything."
Reaching his end, he looked up and eyed the last few desks there were, finally letting his eyes settle on the teacher's table. "Didn't find it there? And oh, sorry if I disturbed you when you were texting earlier..." or were you? He mused, his eyes going back to her as he waited for her reaction.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Who would've thought that it'd turn out like this? As far as Natalya figured, she'd either get caught or not. At the moment she had no idea. But she'd better play safe, anyway. She had no idea what people could do for the sake of money and there still was that chance he was twisted enough to pretend friendly while actually plotting something... diabolical. Oh, perhaps not, but you could never be hundred percent sure, you know. Yes, she really didn't like trusting people. To be frank, there wasn't yet a person she really trusted All of them would try to get favors out of her sooner or later. It only felt as if someone had pulled you through mud and then put up for everyone to see. That humiliation, the pain. She just couldn't go through it over and over again. Natt was sure it would destroy her from the inside. What was the point of being filthy rich if you couldn't even enjoy it, but found it a burden?
Had she understood it right? He really didn't know who she was? Honestly? Was he knew? Or hadn't he paid any attention to the news or even the rumors? Whatever the reason, she wasn't used to people like that. He was surely plotting something, right? Yeah, she was probably just hoping he wasn't. It must've been the looks. She wasn't one to flirt the most, because people usually found her, not the other way around - but she did find quite a number of guys attractive. Sure, she wouldn't go head over heels, but she wouldn't mind the company. "My names Natalya Demetri... Well, Nataly in the English version" she said in a calm manner, opening up yet another desk to find nothing. No matter. One more empty one and after that she'd find her book. "Too bad..." she replied to his psychic comment. Oh, was it even a bit of regret in her voice? Moving on to the last table, where she should finally find that math book, the girl also replied to the earlier question: "And it's Sagittarius."
Caught off guard by that last remark, she had also just opened the last desk. The desk her book was in. So, she might've been a little surprised about the book, right? Yeah, sure. Since when had she been so taken back by math? She had just tried to get the test for god's sakes. Then again, he didn't know that, right? Still not having a clue if this... water or earth guy had believed her or not, she decided to go through with the act. "Found it..." she gave out, picking up the book and shutting the desk. Well, now, to take care of that 'texting' problem. "Yeah, had to reply to dad. The guy dug up oil again. Cheers and congratulations, you know?"
Her gut told her this might just work. She had learned to not show much emotion so others couldn't read her that easy, but she couldn't be sure. Of course, she believed her skills of deception to be great, but you could never know. Anyway, the teachers might come here soon. She should split. Quickly, to be honest. "Umm, we should go... I mean... I'm not that fond of math. If I didn't have to get ready for a test, I wouldn't even bother getting the book." she said, walking over to the door, wishing he'd hurry up. Please, please, please, get a move on, Sean! If I'm caught, I'll be dead. Or... in detention till the end of college.

Sean shifted his weight on his feet from left to right as he stood there, feeling a bit exposed as she raised a brow at him, as if he should know who she was. To be honest, he didn't, but something about how she carried herself, moved and did things were... refined. Like she was cut from some precious stone and had been raised to be a one so precious as well... which was probably the case. His gruff yet sublime actions paled in comparison to how she glided about the room elegantly.
"Demetri..." his voice trailed off as he tried to place the name into his memory, remembering all the precaution he'd been given around the people here. It was a lost cause. He was new, give him a break. It'd take some time to know the people. Interacting with them was mostly gonna help him remember them better, hearing about them, well, not so much. He just stood there and pretended the name rung a bell in his head. "Ahh, that Natalya. Hello," he lied through his teeth, the unease evident on his face. "People mostly call me Matt, actually, and I prefer that," he added, wanting to clear that out if they were gonna be spending a few more minutes together than he'd planned.
How they've gotten from him catching her red-handed, to having this somehow awkward conversation was lost on him. Things just happened, he guessed and walked towards the table, stopping when she said sagittarius. Was she high?
Sean laughed, a real laugh and he turned to her, the amusement in his eyes. "Clueless, much?" he teased, landing a seat on a nearby chair. "I was asking for you element, like how I am earth. I guess I word things out differently, apologies on my part," he shook his head and spoke in an apologetic tone.
His eyebrows rose when she found the book at the end of her row, mumbling something about how she was texting her dad earlier. "He just had to text at that exact time, didn't he?" he nodded, smiling knowingly, all signs of unease disappearing.
When she told him that they better be on their way, he rose ever so quickly from his seat and proceeded to the door, not finding any reason to stay any longer anyways. He'll leave her to her own business and he better learned to mind his own. "Well, next time," he chirped, turning around once again to face her. "Be more careful, weigh consequences," and he left it at that, before leaving completely, not sparing her a second glance. He might not have realized it but as he left the room, he felt his world spin again. He felt he could breathe easily again. He didn't know why and didn't know if he would know why.
If he'd stayed around, maybe he would've found out. As it was, he was already turning the corridor and was out of sight. This was a first he ever wanted to flee from a girl.
