You'd think, after three years at being at the school, she would be able to get around the castle without any mishaps. After all, this was her home, and one should know their home, right? And it wasn't like she hadn't explored the castle before. In fact, that was one of her favourite things to do. There were all sorts of interesting things in this castle, from the dungeons to the towers. It was so old, too, which fascinated her. How had something so old managed to survive so long? It was amazing. But that aside, you'd expect one to know their way around their own home?
Well, you haven't met Lucia Newman then.
Her sister once said that she could get lost in a paper bag. Lucia had protested vehemently, of course, but it was true. She had no sense of direction whatsoever. She could get lost in an instant, and had to watch her surroundings very carefully to make sure she didn't get lost in here. She knew her way to the mess hall, and the dorms, things like that, because she walked there every day. But anywhere else? She was hopeless. Utterly, completely, and totally hopeless. It was actually sort of depressing. It made her helpless, and she hated being helpless.
With a groan, the pretty blonde girl slid down the wall of the hallway she was in. Lucia felt like she had been walking around for hours, and who knew, it probably had been. She rested her chin on her knees, grumbling to herself. "Great. Now I'm going to be late for class, and teacher's going to kill me..." She muttered, sighing. Lucia was so going to figure this place out. One day. Hopefully. Probably. Yeah, right.

First day of class. Yeay.
No. Seriously.
Sean was too excited for the first day. He'd get to strut his stuff, meet new people, and hopefully get around a circle around him. Maybe not that close but whatever, just so his loneliness wouldn't kill him. He needed people to live and being by himself all alone in this gigantic old, and creepy, castle was well, lonely.
He adjusted his favorite beanie on his head and shivered, tucking the scarf into the sides of his neck. Despite the cold chills, he looked, as always, amazing. If there was something Sean could be sure of, it was his looks. He knew he looked handsome and he wore clothes that were to his advantage, and that meant, any kind of clothing. Just give him a minute or two and he'd turn rags to runway material. The boy had an eye for fashion. He checked himself up and down and when he was satisfied with his coat, jeans and glasses (which didn't really have any grade, just style), he checked the clock and glared back at the red numbers.
He'd been so busy with making himself gorgeous for the world that he'd used up all the time until the last minute. His eyes widened and he grabbed his brown leather bag, running out of the room and heading towards. Well...
"Oh great!" he groaned out load, and checked his schedule. He looked down the long hallway which was basically the most prominent part of the castle. Hallways, hallways, and oh, more hallways. He ran, checking the rooms and noticing the numbers. The numbers were usually the only guide in a building and he was right on that note. Now he just had to figure out where the stairs were.
Reaching the end of a hallway he noticed a blonde girl leaning against a wall and thanked whomever he was supposed to thank. He wasn't exactly a church-goer... but whatever, getting to class was more important. He walked towards her, chests heaving and caught himself for a moment.
"Hey, excuse me," he asked politely when he'd caught his breathe and kneeled infront of the girl, not wanting to look intimidating by standing infront of her. "Do you know where the..." But as he finally got to eye-level with her, he took note of the hunched shoulders and defeated air she had around her. His caring intincts kicking in, he forgot about class and tried reaching out with his hands, stopping midway.
"Are you okay?" he said softly and the worry was evident on his face. The boy was too kind for his own... good.

Lucia had so been looking forward to class, too. Unlike most teenagers, the blonde girl liked going to school. She always had. When she was little, she had been home schooled, along with her twin, and she always felt like she was missing something. Her parents made sure they had the very best tutors money could buy, but it still wasn't the same. Lucia had envied the kids that she saw walking down the street, going home from class. She had read about school, but never actually gone to it.
So when the Academy had offered her a place here, she had jumped at the chance. The chance to be normal. Well. As normal as one could be with Elemental powers. In fact, Lucia loved school enough that she wanted to be a teacher once she graduated. Her twin thought she was silly, but hey, everyone had a right to dream, huh? Despite all Lucia had gone through, she still loved people.
Strange, huh?
But so far, it seemed like she wasn't going to even get to class. If there was anything Lucia hated more than bullies, it was being late. But here was no sense in moping about it, she reasoned, even though sitting here was quite comfortable. And safe. Unfortunately, it wasn't getting her anywhere. A voice, however, broke her out of her thoughts, and she looked up, blue-grey eyes wide. She took in the well-dressed boy silently for a moment. She herself only wore jeans and a plain t-shirt - she wasn't one for fashion. Realizing that he had asked her something, she smiled slightly, shaking her head.
"I'm okay, I'm just... lost." She said sheepishly. Lucia dug out her schedule. "I'm trying to find my class, but it seems like I've either pissed off God or fate just hates me, because I can't find it." Lucia explained herself quickly. She hadn't meant to make anyone worry about her! Now she felt silly. The blonde girl smiled a bit ruefully at the boy in front of her, who looked so worried it was sweet.

When the blonde's gray-clouded eyes met Sean's own melted-chocolate brown, he was momentarilly stunned. She was a beauty. No doubts. She made frowning look like it was the 'in' of the now. Her clothes might've been plain and all but with those looks, she could put on rags and still look as pretty as hell. Didn't seem like she was aware of it though. Most people would have their noses in the air if they looked like her. The girl infront of him, didn't look the type; and he liked that.
As she stared back into his wide eyes, he chastised himself for he'd been staring too long. The blonde shook her head to answer his question and her wavy locks fell from their places on her shoulder. They looked soft and inviting for Sean's touch. He chuckled at himself for liking girls this much yet never really wanting to get to bed in them. He shivered involuntarilly and nodded when she was done speaking.
They didn't know each other. She, didn't know him and yet she'd told him her burdens like as if they were friends of old. His smile was warm as he reached out for her schedule. They were in the same class.
"In that case, I'm your angel," he laughed softly, handing her the schedule back. He rose from his kneeling positing and offered his hand. "We have the same class and we'll be just in time before the late minute strucks. Come'n, just help me find the stairs." He adjusted the shoulder bag in his other hand and waited for her to accept his help. His smile never left his face. "Name's Matt btws, I'm new."

But Lucia had never put stock in her appearance - Rosie was always the pretty one. With golden hair, sapphire eyes, and creamy skin, her twin was a sight to behold. She was the one who was always complimented, who was the centre of attention. Lucia was always just a pale reflection of her sister, with her wavy blonde hair and blue-grey eyes. Lucia had decided at a young age that if she couldn't be the pretty one, she would settle for being the smart one. She had always done better on her tests than Rosie, something that Rosie had taken in stride. After all, Rosie honestly didn't care. Lucia had felt like that had taken the wind out of her sails somewhat. The reason she was thinking about all of this was that the boy seemed to be staring at her. She dropped her eyes from his, tugging self-consciously on a strand of her wavy hair. Do I really look so strange? she wondered a bit. The boy in front of her certainly didn't look strange. She enjoyed the hat, mostly because her roleplayer thought it was awesome and couldn't help enjoy it as well. Part of her grumbled at herself, wondering why she even cared. Though, she did suppose she looked a bit funny, sitting against the wall, legs curled up. Fetal position was what came to mind, though she wasn't rocking back and forth. Though, if she didn't get to class, she would consider that. Lucia hated being late. So much. Luckily for her, the boy seemed to know where he was going. Her stormy eyes lit up when he announced that he had the same class as she did. "Do you really? Thank God, I was afraid I was going to wander this castle forever. And even then, I still doubt that I would find the classroom." She confessed in a sheepish tone. Lucia took his hand, letting him help her up. Was it weird, chattering at someone she didn't even know? Probably. Not that she really thought about things like that. "My name is Lucia, though most people call me Luci because they can't pronounce it. It's nice to meet you, Matt." The blonde girl indicated that he should follow her, as she knew where the stairs were, at least. "I've been here for three years, and still don't have anything down. The blonde's sudden unease with Sean's long stare earlier was not lost on the boy. It's not like he was sending romantic signals or anything, it was probably the fact that his brown eyes had melted in pure adoration. If he could put on a good facade, his eyes usually gave him away. He knew that. But people didn't really look directly into his eyes most of the time for he had such piercing ones that he mostly used for scrutinizing clothes. People, not so much, yet he still did use it on them from time to time.
His smile was patronizing as she got up from her folded position on the wall. Sean noticed how her white blouse hadn't caught that much dirt and he had to give a nod of approval to all the janitors taking care of the castle. It was old and yet kept in pristine condition. It must've been a hard job, if you were normal, that is. The staff was probably full of gifted people that they rarely used a mop to clean anything.
Like he was doing now, absentmindedly.
One thing he had to like about controlling the powers of the earth was that he would never, ever get himself dirty. Even if he rolled on a dirty road or bathed himself in coal. The stuff just fell away and he'd be clean in no time. Unless he'd fallen into mud and he'd come out just wet after.
His hands involuntarilly swept over her back and the dust and black spots followed his fingers, hanging in the air. He'd been doing this neat trick for so long he didn't even pay attention to it, answering her questions while his fingers trailed behind her back.
"And thank Him I have someone as pretty as you for a classmate. Makes me wanna go to class just to see you," he chuckled, catching the sudden fire in her eyes. It may have sounded flirty but he couldn't help himself when he was around girls. He just adored them to the deepest ocean. When he took notice of his hands sweeping the dust from her back without even touching it, he smiled at his overly OC self and let his hand fall limply to his side, the specks of dirt falling to the ground. He frowned at her soon after, his other hand still clasping hers. "You know, if you're gonna wear white, you shouldn't mope around on the ground and get it dirty." Sean chastised her and shook his head. The smile on his face, however, gave him off.
When the girl, Lucia, as she'd informed him, tugged his hand forward, he gripped tight and let her lead the way.
"Well," he answered after a few seconds of thinking of what to say to her next question. "It's..." he looked around and took in the gray bricks the walls were made out of, an occasional window popping in between and letting the sun shine in. "Rock-ish," settling with that word and looking back at her as she pulled him down a hallway.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Absently the girl ran her hands down her jeans, picking up little bits of dirt. With a twist of her hand, she turned them into tiny flowers. As an Earth elemental, she was completely at home with the dirty and grime. As a child, her mother had despaired over her since she was perfectly happy wallowing in the mud. Lucia believed it was fate that she was an earth elemental like her father. Her father had always just laughed and splashed mud on her, joining in. It had been fun, though a part of that fun died when he did. Lucia noticed the patronizing smile and lifted one eyebrow at him curiously. "What is it?" She asked as she stretched slightly. She sighed in annoyance as her hair flopped into her face. She had left it down on a whim, and was regretting it. The wavy strands often flew into her face, something that irked her. "I should really cut this all off." She grumbled to herself, pushing the offending strand behind her ear. She noticed what he was doing and grinned at him. So he was an Earth person as well! It was better than a Fire, or Thunder, since they seemed hellbent on destroying everything at the moment. "Thank you. I guess wearing white was a bad idea, huh?"Lucia laughed at his words. "Flattery won't get you anywhere, my friend, though I thank you for the compliment. You're not all that bad looking yourself." The teasing cam easy for her, as she was friendly with everyone. Lucia loved socializing, though was no where on the social ladder. She simply like talking with everyone. Plus, this guy seemed funny, and friendly too, so there was no reason to curb her tongue. She burst out laughing when he scolded her about her clothing. "You sound like my sister! She was always nagging me about my clothing, and how I always ended up with them wrinkled or dirty. I'm afraid I'm harsh on my clothes, poor things." She looked down at her shirt in mock regret. "I was never really good at this whole fashion business." Nor did Lucia honestly care, either. He didn't let go of her hand, which was perfectly fine with her. Lucia was a touchy sort of person, always giving her friends random hugs and such. At his description of the school, another heart-melting smile lit up her face. "It is, isn't it? And it's huuuge! I've been here three years and I still get lost. Not that it's anything special, since I have no sense of direction at all, but you'd expect to figure it out sooner or later, wouldn't you?". Lucia bashed herself with an almost cheerful sheepishness, grinning at him over her shoulder as she located the stairs. She made a grand sweeping movement with her free hand, saying, "The stairs, my lord, as you have requested.", with a teasing gleam in her grey eyes. Looking back at the girl's long back as she tugged Sean forward, he couldn't help but smile and feel like his days in this school would seem to be nice and perfect. Yet, news about a certain war going about when he first got in still somehow unnerved him when he thought about it. War was never really in his veins unless a more peaceful path could be chosen.
He blinked the thoughts away and focused instead on how easily the girl had turned the dust she was wiping at away earlier to pretty little flowers before getting blown away by the wind. That was some nifty trick that would've taken some time to master. She'd done it without as much concentration and knew she was adept. Her years of studying said so too. Maybe in a few years time, he'd have some new tricks up his sleeve. Not that he didn't already know some.
"It's the simple truth," he answered her when she told him her ideas on flattery, grinning. "You're pretty and I just couldn't resist saying it out loud. I mean," he tugged her to a stop and gestured at her body. His eyes went huge. As she studied her clothes too, not really looking at them, Sean shook his head and continued on walking beside her. "Well, your sister and I agree on some points," Sean said as he nodded, unable to read whether or not the girl adored her sister or not. It wasn't his place to ask questions on the matter so he bit his tongue and kept himself from talking. Talking wasn't always good for him.
Instead, he nodded and sighed an air of pity for the clothes she had on, smiling soon after.
"It is huge," he agreed and wandered how long it would take for him to explore the castle. When he heard her complain about how her sense of direction, quite in contrast with her smile, he nodded. "Well, howsabout I make you a deal then," yet before he could talk, they'd come to a stop infront of a staircase cut into the end of the hallway. It was huge. He pondered about its size and wondered whether the main staircase was larger. "Ah, thank you milady. If I may express my gratitude," he said in heavy English accent while bending his head and landing a soft kiss on the back of her hand. He looked up and smiled evilly at her, waggling his eyebrows.
"So, like I said, a deal," he continued on his earlier statement before he got interrupted, climbing the stairs as he did, in a bit of a hurry. "Promise me I'll be your lunch buddy everyday after this class and I'll make you a map. I'm quite good at those, you see," he said, voice softening, not wanting to sound like he was boasting at her. He looked around and waited for her answer. "And if you don't agree, I'd still make a map for you milady. I'm good at being a gentleman too, you see," he added in his practiced accent again, not wanting to pressure her or anything.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rosie had always been the one serious about things like appearances. Their mother was a fashion designer, and had been disappointed that her eldest daughter disliked it. Rosie, on the other hand, blossomed in it. When the twins were young, it had been she who had picked out, very seriously, what Lucia was going to wear. She had also been the one to do her hair and pain her finger nails, all with a somber sort of attitude. Lucia had dealt with it with a certain kind of patient amusement. It was far easier going along with Rosie than going against her. Things tended to get broken when Rosie was angry. Which was never really a good thing, since they had tended to be of the breakable sort. You know, vases, chairs, walls, people, that sort of thing. Lucia was the calm one, after all. The blonde haired girl grinned at Sean at the compliment and looked down at herself. She knew that she certainly wasn't ugly. Lucia, well, just didn't care. Romance, of course, was out of the picture, since she didn't really know how to interact like that. Maybe sometime, but not in the near future. "Well, thank you for the compliment. It isn't one I hear often." It was said with the brutal honesty that she had perfected, though it wasn't complaining. Rosie was the pretty one, and that's simply how it went. Lucia was jealous sometimes, of course, no one was perfect. But she had long accepted it. Absently she tucked one of the flowers she had made into her hair, behind her, as she spoke. "My twin use to be the one who dressed me. She always told me that I wouldn't know fashion sense if it danced in front of me naked." Her eyes twinkled as she spoke. "Rosie and you would get along, I think. She was always the feisty one." If only she was here... Lucia nodded as he agreed with her. Huge indeed. Poor Lucia was going to get lost one of these days and never come out. She just knew it. She'd be wandering around the school forever. What a dismal thought. "There is suppose to be dungeons, from what I heard, as well! I've never found them, though." Her eyes were bright with curiosity. Luci was odd enough to want to find said dungeons... as soon as she acquired a sense of direction, that is. A pink blush stained her cheeks when he kissed her hand, and she dipped into a perfect curtsy (which looked slightly odd since she was wearing jeans, but pfft, what did she care). "'twas my pleasure, my lord." She said, mimicking his accent. She smiled sweetly at him, letting him know that she could both dish it out and take it. Lucia followed him up the stairs, knowing that the teacher was definitely going to sacrifice her to some heathen God. Sadly enough, at this point, she didn't even care. Late was late. What would a couple more minutes do? She walked up the stairs, listening to his offer. Once he finished talking, she skipped on the step ahead of him, twirling around so she could face him, and taking both of his hands in hers. Her eyes were bright, her voice filled with relief. "Would you really? I would love you forever if you did! Of course you can sit with me, I've been sitting by myself anyways." That was never a fun experience for a girl as social as she was. She grinned at him, hardly believing her good luck. Not only had she made a new friend, but she might even get a map out of this as well! This was her lucky day indeed.
