- getting rejected ; not her personally, but her work
- losing what she has ; her friends and family are extremely important to her
BEST MEMORY When Amelia burned her first books at 16. Sure, burning books probably mean a politcal statement, but her reasoning was different. The books she burned were not purchased - they were her journals from when she struggled through her serious depression. It was a sense of moving forward and personal freedom, and she felt much healthier after that.
WORST MEMORY The first time she cut herself. Her right wrist has cat-scratch like scars, which started forming at age 10 due to her depression starting. She remembers the pain of it all, each and every time she did it. The first time she cut herself and saw the blood, she almost puked because of her crying, not eating, and panic attack.

HISTORY Amelia's parents were almost their fourties when she was born; she wasn't really an accident, but they were starting to fear for the empty nest syndrome which would occur when her older sister Catherine graduated from high school. They were a successful writing team - her father wrote textbooks for the history classes he taught at the University of Victoria, and her mother published them. Her older sister Catherine was the star student of her class, and her parents knew they did a great job with her.
However, Amelia wasn't like her sister. She didn't excell in all subjects, and she didn't exactly like to be put in the same path as her sister. Sure, Amelia loved writing like her mother, but she couldn't bring herself to try and live up to the straight A sister. To make matters worse, Catherine was a water elemental- her mother was an earth elemental, and her father was a water elemental. Her sister's powers manifested at 14, just before Amelia was born, and she was sent to the academy for a brief time. She graduated from the academy, but then went off to a private university to further her interest in history.
However, Amelia's mother tried to keep a dark secret from her husband and her children - Amelia was the result of an affair. She had started having an affair once Catherine went off to the Academy, leaving an empty house most of the time (Catherine loved visting and travelling with her father), and her husband started to travel more. The man she was cheating with her husband on was a fire elemental with firey red hair and a temper worse than Donald Duck's. While her husband was in Egypt, she found out that she was pregnant with Amelia. Thankfully, it made sense, seeing as she always has 'goodbye' nights with him, but anyways.
Her secret was safe until Catherine figured out that the genes of Amelia did not match anything on his side of the family - the red hair, the freckles, the blood type, etc. - at 21 (Amelia was 7) and tried to ask her mother about it. She shook it off, but when Amelia's temper tantrums had continued from being a toddler, she worried.
The day her father found out the affair was terrible.
Her father screamed at her for hours that day, the day her mother let it slip she could be fire. He called her an abomination, and Amelia wouldn't stop crying. Her mother said nothing, and walked away, terrified for what was to come.
Amelia first started cutting herself, writing journals full of her thoughts and quotes of the screams of her father. These stacked up, before being added to a passworded flash drive, almost filling 4GB with journals and writings. Then came the burning. She burned herself using a lighter she kept hidden in her room. She wasn't allowed near any fires, lighters or matches, so she tried to keep it as hidden as possible. Threatened with being kicked out of the house, she slipped further into depression. She was also hardly let out, therefore only having internet friends, and no super close relationships. Eventually, the scars got deeper, and her weight started bouncing with not eating and overeating. Amelia was less than 95lbs when she was turning 14, terrified of her father and what was to happen when - or if - she got her powers.
Seeing the damage her husband was doing to Amelia, her mother kicked her father out of the house the day of Amelia's 14th birthday, asking for a divorce and handing him a bag. She then went to Amelia and handed her the paperwork for the Academy, signaling it was okay for whatever power to start forming.
Once Amelia went to the Academy, she started to make herself better - making friends, and learning about fire. She knew she was, as she took a personality test when she arrived to determine what may come from her genetics. Eventually, she started setting things on fire to calm down, and finally emerged from her depression at 16. She burned all of her journals, moving forward in her life and finally getting to a heathly weight and friendships.

HOW'D YOU FIND US? I've been here for foreverrrrrr.
SECRET WORD Correct.
RP SAMPLEIsabella looked over at Alex. Lie girl, lie! Keep it to yourself. No need for him to see you at your weakest time. Though, technically he can see you, but..whatever. Just say you’re fine. Do it Is, you can do it. she told herself, wiping away the tears.
“I’m fine” Is lied, her voice shaking. There. You did it. You assured him you’re fine. Boys can..oh shit, I can’t. Alex knows I’m lying. He saw me crying before… she thought before looking at the floor and shaking her head.
“I’m not ok..as you can see..” she said, sighing sadly. Not only was she telling this to Alexandre, but to herself as well.
Is wanted to tell him more, but she couldn’t decide. Most guys didn’t care about girls and their feelings; they felt that they were too sensitive, or in some cases, insensitive. In Isabella’s case, however, they felt that her temper caused problems and that the varying moods weren’t good for her-or their friendships. So she really could have changed. Guess some people don't like that.
