Nell trudged through the snow, carefully watching her step. Many times she had fallen on her face and her jacket was soaking wet, but she persevered. She had to keep moving, go somewhere she wasn’t before, and she wasn’t going to spend all her time cooped up inside despite the horrid weather. She shook a bit and huddled further into her coat as she approached the lake, a plan set in her mind.
It was quite difficult to text with gloved fingers, but Nell managed to type out, “Meet me at the lake. (:” and sent it to Nico before shoving the phone back into her pocket. She looked behind her at the lake. It was practically frozen, but no doubt the ice was thin. However, the snow didn’t quite cover the sandy shore, and she used that to her advantage. The hole was easy to dig even with the cold, sand being so malleable, so she used her powers to form it. Nell had to focus on the ground to keep the cover stable. It looked like any other part of the bank, and so it would look to her Water friend, if she didn’t get suspicious beforehand. If Nico got close to Nell, there was a sinkhole about waist-deep underneath the cover of snow.
Nell tried not to do things that got her into too much trouble. She definitely wanted to stay under the radar. Was she afraid that if she ever got detention the American feds would somehow get her? A part of her, perhaps. But she tried not to be too paranoid. She tried not to think of anything that happened where she came from. Running meant escaping everything, even her thoughts. And so she was determined to have fun without the thought that she was a fugitive murderer illegal immigrant underage bartender. My god, how many crimes have I compiled? It was rather consternating, but still she tried not to think of it.
Instead, she kicked at the sand with her boot, still concentrated on the wide sinkhole around her. She wasn't as good with pranks as her Water friend, but she was crafty enough for it. Nell wondered if she'd be at all suspicious. Still, if she came, no matter where she went she’d fall into Nell’s trap. But of course, the Earth girl made sure it was safe. If she ever hurt Nico, she’d never forgive herself for it.
Now she played the waiting game, rubbing her hands together to keep them warm. On the ground next to her legs was a bag of food she'd gotten from a convenience store, so she wouldn’t look too suspicious just standing there next to the bank of the lake. Hey, why not just meet up for some snacks? Nell's thought process was interrupted by a piercing breeze. Jeez, it was so cold. Nell never knew extreme weather like this before she came to Canada, but she was expert at assimilating.
