Snow days were pretty much non-existent in the Academy--this was one thing that actually sucked about going to a boarding school, especially one where the kids had powers as well as the adults. There had been a moment of hope when the blizzards had knocked out the power supply, but a couple of the Thunder professors had given the generators a good hard shock and had things up and running in no time. Thus students were sent off to class amidst grumbles and groans about how much they hated the school and the classes and just life in general. Such were the complaints that Alexandre had to deal with as he went around the morning routine in the boys dormitories, rapping loudly on the doors and making sure that everyone was awake. "I don't care if you're tired," he said unsympathetically as one of the freshmen covered his head with a pillow. Alex wandered over and unceremoniously pushed him off the bed, raising an eyebrow as the boy scrambled to his feet amidst a tangle of blankets and a slew of surprised curses. "Feeling a little more awake now? Good. Get your ass to classes or I'm the one that'll hear about it."
After he had done his rounds (and he assumed his female counterpart had done the same in the girls wing of the dormitories) Alexandre sat down on the couch, pulled out his schedule, glanced at his class timetable... and promptly decided that he was going to break his own rules. No way I'm going to class today. Not in this weather and not with that teacher. Fuck no. The Water elemental who was holding his morning classes had a habit of absolutely making an example out of the older Fire students whom she did not like, especially if they showed up to class tired or in a bad mood. Alex wasn't in the mood to go to class, especially not if it only meant public humiliation as she absolutely soaked him time and time again. Of course, she was real nice to the Water elementals. They could do no wrong in her eyes. "Ugh, I don't care if I get in shit," Alexandre decided, shoving the timetable back into his bag.
Wanting to pass time and figuring he'd be one of the only ones who'd actually skipped at least in his own element, Alexandre went into his dormitory and fetched his acoustic guitar, sitting on the couch with it and testing a few chords. It took a moment to get it in tune, but after a couple of minutes it sounded just as good as he remembered. Music always reminded him of his parents and of long nights spent jamming with his father as the older elemental tried to teach him the ins and outs of the music business. Alexandre really respected his father's band and wanted to have something like that for his own some day, but for now he was limited to just having his own private sessions and practising whenever he was bored. His fingers were calloused from years of playing, barely able to feel the strings even though he played without a pick. He was so intent on what he was doing that he didn't even notice the door open--it wasn't likely he would notice anyone else was in the room unless they spoke to him.

What was the point of snow if not to have a snow day? That was what Cameron wanted to know as she woke up to get ready for the school day she thought was not supposed to happen. With her eyes groggy she traveled to the bathroom ignoring all the whining and whimpering. Any other morning she'd tell them to shut up, but at the moment she just was not feeling it. Rumor had it that the Thunder professors fixed it, and for so long they were actually ok in her book. Cam purposely ignored the fact that it was their job and carried on with hating them in her mind. As she continued walking into the bathroom two little freshman girls were chatting it up, in the middle of the hall, blocking it off. Cameron put her hand on her hip for a few moments but decided they were going to be caught up in whatever gossip they had to talk about. "How about you move?" The two girls turned, starting with a dirty look, then the look escaped and they split making room. Cammi smiled, loving the reputation she had made up for herself "Thats what I thought" With that she walked into the bathroom and began with the daily essentials. She threw her hair up into a messy, cute pony tail and put mascara on. She turned and walked out not much later to realize that the hallways were extremely silent and empty. Checking the time she realized that she must have woken up extremely late because she took 10 minutes tops in the bathroom and she was a half an hour late to class. Thinking about her schedule she decided that her wind professor would not be sympathetic. With a deep breath she shrugged and walked down the steps into the corridor. Hearing the sounds of guitar, her eye brow raised in curiosity. She tip-toed quietly down the stairs, not wanting to get into a conversation with someone she didn't particularly get along with. When she peeked her head around the corner, on the couch she saw none other than her best friend Alex. With a relieved sigh she continued down the steps silently. She made sure she went up quietly until she was right behind him. She tilted her head so her lips would be a small distance from his ear as she said in a light voice "Alexandre, as leader of fire shouldn't you be in class?"

He was in a fairly relaxed mood as he steadily strummed his guitar, switching between familiar melodies and things that came from the top of his head. Once he started to really get into a beat he changed up the chords and tried different styles, further imagining what the other instruments would sound like alongside it. This was often how Alexandre came up with song ideas in his head, how his father had taught him it was best done. He often suggested that his son go into the songwriting business if the whole band thing didn't work out, but that wasn't exactly what Alex wanted. He wanted the glory and the accomplishment of rocking out on stage alongside his friends, the euphoria of screaming fans and flashing lights. He wanted the experience.
The voice so close to his ear startled him, the guitar making a loud noise as his fingers struck the strings harshly and cut their sound dead. "Fucks sakes, Cam!" he said, but his tone was light as he chuckled and regained his composure. "You nearly gave me a heart attack, dude, what's the deal?" In calling her 'dude' he was in no way trying to be sexist or anything like that--it was what he called everyone, male or female alike. Dudette just sounded weird and unnatural, so he refrained from using it.
She'd asked him about class, and Alexandre only dismissed this with a laugh. "Not when that bitch is teaching, I'm not," he replied with blunt honesty. "Last time I went to her class she soaked me for asking my buddy if I could borrow his pencil. Absolutely soaked me. Can't stand her." He shook his head a little. As a general rule, most Fire students weren't fond of water. It was the same as Earth students fearing fire and Water students getting a little antsy whenever there was a Thunder elemental around. For the most part the professors reserved the use of their own power against the students for extreme situations such as a fight breaking out. There were some, however, that liked to use their superiority to keep their students in line.
"Besides," he added, and raised an eyebrow, "You're supposed to be in class yourself. What's up with that?"

Cameron had to laugh, she couldn't help it, she never thought she'd scare him that much just by sneaking up. She was just hoping to freak him out that he was introuble, but this, this was definitely better. After he noticed it was none other then her she gave him a smirk and jumped over the couch to sit by him. "Don't be such a girl" Cam told him playfully while rolling her eyes to continue, "It was too hard to pass up! Sorry" By now the smirk was plastered on her face, while she did her best to not just laugh at his surprise.
Cameron was not surprised when Alex stated that he was ditching 'the bitches' class. Yet when she listened to his story of being soaked, Cameron scoffed. The teacher was a complete bitch. Cam hated when waters got all over confident about themselves. They were definitely not that great and to just try to show off their powers like that, she figured one of them should put that lady in her place. Silently in her head she thought If only I wasn't a student "Seriously? That bitch needs a reality check" is what she said instead, knowing that if the first was mentioned Alex would put it into action. Still seething about waters, and how perfectly amazing they thought they were, Cameron was startled to hear Alex speak again. A look of casualness was on her face as she answered nonchalantly "I woke up late, so I just decided not to go, no big deal" Cam knew Alex was notorious for ditching, so he of all people should understand that it really wasn't a big deal.

He narrowed his eyes in momentary annoyance when she joked about his masculinity, but Alexandre could never really stay angry with his friends for long and was laughing in the same breath. "Don't be such a bitch," he retaliated, but his bluish eyes were light to show that he really meant no harm by the supposed 'insult'. He could never seriously call his friends names like that unless they really deserved it. Which she didn't, so. She apologised whilst wearing a smirk that really took away from how genuine the apology might have looked, but Alex didn't mind. He swatted her playfully on the arm and continued to chuckle, brushing some of his dark hair out of his eyes to get a better look at her. She looked... well, like most girls looked in the morning. Way better than the guys who barely did more than roll out of bed and pull on a shirt.
Alexandre nodded in vehement agreement when there was talk of reality checks, his eyes cold once more. He truly hated the teacher whom he had dubbed 'the bitch'. He did believe that she'd gotten him into trouble more than most of the other professors in the school combined. He could think of a few occasions when he was pretty sure she'd followed him around and just waited for him to target someone so that she could give him a nice soak. She blasted him in the face more often than not as well--now that wasn't necessary. She could at least have the courtesy to aim for somewhere a little less personal. "I'd happily give her one if it wouldn't cost me my position," he said darkly. As it was, he was planning some sort of a prank to get her back for all of the shit she'd caused him. Alex may not have been a Water student, but he was quite the prankster nonetheless. Shane (his father) insisted that it was his wife Leanne's influence over their son.
Alexandre accepted her excuse with a bit of a shrug. "I'll pretend I never saw so long as you don't tell." Leaders weren't supposed to exercise favouritism in letting their friends off easy, but it wouldn't be the first time that he had done so. He was sure that all of the other leaders were guilty of it on occasion, though. "So, we've got the entire common room and both sides of the dormitories to ourselves," he grinned. "What should be done with this oh-so-wasteable time?" He sat the guitar on the couch beside him, not really wanting to hold it if he wasn't going to continue playing.

Cam noticed the hint of annoyance in Alex's eyes then watched it disappear quickly. Obviously she was merely teasing him and would never actually mean the things she said, or question his masculinity for that matter. She knew how he was and how he could get and there was no doubt about any of this in her mind. Her mind was brought back to focus as he called her a bitch. Cammi took the teasing well, dropping her jaw in faux shock and offence. By the time he had hit her arm with a chuckle she was well past an apology. She swatted back playfully then crossed her arms sticking out her tongue like a little girl, then started giggling quietly. Cammi deep down was a kid at heart; she loved to mess around, be immature, and just have fun. She wouldn't act that way much with most people but with her best friends? Better believe she did.
Her eyes studied him as he swept his hair out of his face. He looked pretty good for a guy in the morning, she had to admit. One thing Cameron appreciated about Alex and her relationship; they were best friends. Not ones that everyone knew would fall in love, not ones that constantly hook up, no it was nothing like that. They were best friends and saw each other as nothing more and words could not express how much that fact meant to her.
During Cammi's little angry in her mind rant she watched Alexandre's eyes darken. She knew he was thinking amongst the same things which only fed her anger more. She met his eyes once again when he spoke of retaliation and was glad to hear that his position meant enough to him to not do something stupid. Whenever he planned on doing something though, he hoped he would include Cameron in it.
Cameron laughed, she could not help it. She knew he was a leader and was supposed to not play favorites, but she always knew he would never actually turn her in especially for something so small. "Thank you so much for your generosity" Sarcasm coated her voice completely along with a hint of smugness. Cameron listened to his next ofter and a wicked smile appeared on her face. What a good question, "Well theres pranking freshman, hiding random objects, moving beds or possessions around, target practice... the list goes on and on" It wasn't so much that Cameron was a prankster she was more just mischievous and enjoyed causing trouble. A favorite pass time of hers really. She crossed her legs on the couch and looked at him innocently, as though she was incapable of performing all of the above.

Alexandre listened to her mini list with an amused chuckle, then raised an eyebrow at the last one. "Target practice?" he echoed. "Normally I'd go ahead and assume that was as innocent as it sounds... but knowing you it's got something more to it." The Fire leader grinned, apparently curious about what she'd meant by 'target practice'. "What exactly would said target be? And what would we be throwing at it? Unless you're talking about our powers, in which case..." He flicked his hand and a small burst of flame came into being. "It's always hot down here so it's easier to use them and all, but if we left the dormitories we'd be fucked. Stupid winter, she's a pain in the ass, she really is." Winter being the season of course, despite Alex giving it a bit of a personification and referring to it as female.
Not that he was sexist or anything. In Alexandre's books the girls of the Fire element could be just as awesome and fun to hang around with as the guys. Especially Cameron. He'd known her for quite a while and they'd been friends for just as long--and nothing more. Alex hated when stupid rumours popped up about friends dating simply because they spent a lot of time together, because that's what best friends did: they spent time together. It wasn't that Cam wasn't pretty or anything, he was just too much of her friend to consider being anything more.
"Pranking freshmen is always fun," Alex mused, glancing around the dormitory. "Course they're all in class right now so we'd have to prank our own unless--" He cut himself off, bluish eyes twinkling slightly with a bit of mischief. It was clear to anyone who knew him well that Alex was forming an idea in his head. "Exactly how daring are you feeling right now, Cammi?" Alexandre stood up from the couch as he felt a rush of adrenaline--it might have seemed like an oddly misplaced burst of energy, but Alex was often prone to this. He was an energetic guy and when he started getting an idea in his head this was magnified tenfold.
"I was thinking--maybe we could set a trap for one of them," he said with a smirk. "Lord knows none of them are too intelligent when it comes to the school." There were a lot of alternate routes and passages and empty rooms in the old castle. It was possible to set up little detours and decoys if one was crafty enough. Cameron might not have been much of a prankster, but Alexandre had the blood of a Water elemental running in his veins alongside his fiery genetics--he loved to cause mischief and mayhem. He figured that since Cam liked getting up to no good that she might be willing to help him prank a couple of unsuspecting freshmen. "But what element should we target, if we do?" His brow furrowed momentarily, and he glanced to his friend for her opinion.

Cameron smiled as she noticed one of her suggestions caught his attention. Her wicked smile grew as he caught on to the fact that there was much more behind it. "You know me way too well. Well I was thinking powers of course
her eyes flicked to the fire now burning in his hands; which she created also in her hands. She let it grow slightly bigger with every sentence as she continued "Of course we'd have to stay in here, anything connecting to water is obviously a bitch Cameron was nodding along to Alex as he was speaking about pranking freshman and how it would be their little ones, but her ears pricked up as she heard an idea come to him. She sat up a little as the excitement started flowing through her. "Unless what?" Her eyebrows were raised and her wicked grin had returned. As she heard his next statement and watched him get up she could feel the energy around him. Even if Cammi hadn't been in a daring mood, which she was, there was no way she would turn him down at this amount of excitement. "Count me in, now let me in on this idea you have" She practically demanded it but now his energy was contagious and she wanted in on this idea that was forming in his head. She listened with anticipation, a prank. Of course Alexandre, the child of waters, would want to prank. Yet even though Cameron was not much of a prankster she had a habit of loving to be a bit more of a bad girl. Which is why she agreed with a nod while he continued talking. Everything he said seemed reasonable, they really wouldn't know what hit them. Especially since it took a couple years to discover all the different passage ways, well for some maybe longer, but for Cameron it took her a year, thanks to her curiosity and love of breaking rules. Now he was asking for her opinion again and she sat back a little as to think about his question. "Well it would be predictable if we were to go after water freshman, it may not lead back to us but it would lead to fire so you would still probably get some heat considering you are leader. If we get caught going against fire, well again, being leader you are sure to get some heat. Thunder,Cameron took a moment to consider the element, then continued with a shrug, well personally I like thunder and I don't want to create enemies with our only alli. So Earth or Wind...and probably still Water. I guess it depends what we're going to do to them for my final decision. Cam was taking this seriously, if they were going to make it obvious it was fire, obviously they should still attack water, but if they were trying to be discreet, she was under the impression it should be wind. They were always left out of all the fighting so it would be nice to just rattle them a bit with the unexpected. [/blockquote]

Cameron started rambling on about her opinion, but Alexandre followed along easily with what she was saying. Perhaps it was just because he himself could talk your ears off if you gave him the chance, or maybe it was just because he'd asked her opinion and so he'd been expecting her to go off into a little explanation. For the most part he was agreeing with what she said--they would definitely trace any attacks on the Water element back to his own, and as leader he would definitely be the one expected to deal with it. He was forgetting himself again; he had to be careful this year, now that he was running the show. A couple of wrong moves and it could be his position he was sacrificing. And for what? Kicks and giggles? Much as he loved pranks, that wasn't worth it.
He did inwardly hesitate when she mentioned Wind, although he said nothing and just allowed Cam to continue speaking. Alex's thoughts immediately flicked to Elaine and what she'd think of him if she knew what he might be planning against her element. It's just a harmless prank, his more reckless and daring side reminded him. She won't even know it was me! Still, what would happen if she brought it up in casual conversation? 'Someone pranked the freshmen, it was awful,' or something like that? He'd feel guilty. But Alexandre's nature and his desire to not allow Cameron in one the fact that he may have loyalties in the Wind element won over in the end, a smirk flourishing on his features.
"You're right--if we target Wind, they'll probably assume it was the Water students," he said. "We could go after Earth too, but seeing as they're allies, Wind's our best bet. So Wind it is." He stood up. "Shall we go now?"
