the seaweed is always greener,
Fox was supposed to be doing homework. Which, of course, meant he was instead sitting around outside. This time he was at the edge of the lake, coaxing small trails of water to jump up at freshman walking the trail around the lake. He wasn't discriminating; everyone, from Water and Earth To Wind to Fire and Thunder, were getting wet. Of course, some of them appreciated it more than others. Some of the rival students gave him angry looks, but that's all they could do with so many witnesses. A couple fellow Water students would take the stream and bend it in their own way, spraying their friends or another group walking by.
A few feet back from the edge of the lake, near a decent sized tree, Fox's socks and shoes stood next to his bag, while he stood mid-calf deep in the water with his jeans rolled up to his knees. Some people might argue it was too cold to be in the lake in the middle of October, but that had never stopped him before. When there were no kids nearby to squirt he stared down into the cool clear water around his ankles. Up this far - only about three or four feet from the shore - there weren't really any fish, but he did see a couple hermit crabs scuttling around. He smiled as one crawled over his foot, then looked up and scanned his surroundings.
A little ways down the beach he saw a pair of upper-classmen Thunders sharing a towel that Fox thought looked closer to the size of a dish rag. Ew, no thank you. He turned to look down the shore in the other direction with an off-put expression playing across his face. His grimace melted into his usual smile as he spotted Amber walking down the grounds towards the lake. Taking a few steps in her direction he waved. Maybe she was there on some sort of business, or with plans to meet up with someone else, but it wa just as likely she was out enjoying the afternoon like everyone else. Just so long as she wasn't planning on enjoying it in the same fashion as those Thunder kids down the beach, he was happy to see her. He looked momentarily back over his shoulder at them and whispered under his breath, "Get a room," making sure they wouldn't be able to hear him, before turning back to greet Amber.
"Fancy seeing you here," he said, "How are you today mildly?" He laughed at his own overly dramatic manners. Fox didn't quite know it yet, but he'd turn out to be quite chivalrous when the opportunity arose. However, for now it was just a but of fun.

"Ok, Bye Jordan..." Amber hung up on her oldest brother that seemed for the fifth time. She had been walking for about 2 hours before her brothers called. As much as Amber loved her brothers, they always seemed to annoy the heck out of her. 'It's like they have nothing better to do then call me...' The 17 year old rolled her eyes. Only her brothers could manage such a thing. She did missed her older brothers, not that she didn't, but She was a 17 year old girl, she could darn well take care of herself. She wasn't a child.
She hopped off the sidewalk, walking down towards the lake. She stopped a couple feet away, staying further away from group of Thunders. It wasn't she didn't like Thunder, but they were allied with Fire, which Amber wasn't a big fan of. She found Fire a little hot-headed, but she didn't know any of them personally. A flash of movement caught her eye as Amber spotted a friend walking towards her. She laughed lightly before waving back as Fox headed towards her. Amber chuckled as Fox spoke in his charming voice. He was one of the first guys she had met here and the two were quite close. Amber laughed before replying,"Quite well, and you milord?" Amber usually played along with Fox; it was just one of those things. She adjusted her messenger bag, pulling it off her shoulder and dropping it in the grass. The darn thing was always so heavy.
"Shouldn't you be studying?" Amber smirked at her friend, her light blue eyes filled with mischief and happiness. She was unsure why, but Fox always managed to put her in a good mood.

the seaweed is always greener,
Fox loved that Amber played along. Most kids just looked confused and then moved on with their lives. Really he just loved anyone who would play his games, it made life more interesting. "Me? Great. Just, you know. Tormenting the underclassmen. Procrastinating. The usual." He said this in a joking tone, but it was pretty much the truth. Maybe not really procrastinating, and definitely not tormenting, but along those lines.
"Studying? Why would I be studying." Fox scoffed jokingly, "Where would you even get the idea that I needed to study?" This may not have been too funny to anyone walking by, but Fox and most of his friends knew that his grades weren't what they should be. It wasn't that he was bad at school, it was just that - as exemplified by his choice of activities for the afternoon - he didn't much care for homework or studying. And if Fox didn't like something, it was nearly impossible to get him to go along with it. "And anyways, aren't you supposed to be studying too? Isn't everyone supposed to be studying?" Fox preferred to live his life, not spend his time practicing for it. On the one hand he understood why some people liked to keep their grades up, but on the other he felt bad for them, for not using their time in ways that were, at least to him, more 'worth it.'
"So you're obviously not doing work - good choice, by the way - what are you doing?" Just in case it turned out she was on her way to somewhere important, he didn't want to keep her. But otherwise it was probably one of the best days left before the weather turned cold and everyone ended up stuck inside with hot tea and biscuits, watching snow fall through windows.

Amber laughed as she rolled her light blue eyes; Only Fox could say such a thing. It was always a banter between the two, not that Amber cared, it made her life interesting not to mention it was fun to tease someone other then her brothers. "Yes, where would I get such a idea?" Amber chuckled as Fox scoffed. He always managed to make her smile, even when it was one of the hardest things to do. Her brow furrowed as she noticed the Thunders using something that looked like a dish towel. 'I don't even want to know...' Amber nearly muttered out loud. She may not be high class but seriously? She focused back at Fox as he began speaking again. "My brothers dragged me away," Amber gasped dramatically, "Isn't it a tragedy?" Amber smirked at her friend. She was never the dramatic one but it usually came out around Fox. "Thank my brothers for that save... I was ready to murder my math book...." Amber smirked lightly before running a hand through her hair, pushing it back out of her face, "So I went for a walk so I didn't go crazy..." She twirled a strand of light brown hair around her finger before looking to her dear friend, "What about yourself, What brings you here, my dear friend?" Amber looked to Fox, her blue eyes sparkling in the sunlight. [clothes-Acey! ] [Notes-*yawn*]

the seaweed is always greener,
"Okay, but to be fair..." he trailed off, searching his mind for something to redeem him from slacking off. Oh!"To be fair, I'm not failing any of my classes. So there," He beamed, "I'm doing just fine." Besides, it's just school, he thought. There were always better, more important things to look forward to.
Geeze, Amber's brothers seemed to get seriously clingy. Fox was glad he didn't have any older siblings to always be bothering him, but he supposed if he had a little sister out in the world on her own he'd probably be just about as concerned. "Do your brothers ever not call you every forty five minutes?" It didn't bother Fox, why should it, but he did tend to wonder if it bothered her more than she let on. To be constantly looked after and given advice and opinions on every little aspect of your life - that would be nerve wracking. At least it would be for the boy who had always been overly independent, especially once mom and dad had cracked. He knew it was better to be able to stand alone than to find yourself too deeply affected by those around you. He'd never admit it, but that was why Fox was always so happy-go-lucky and independent. He literally could not imagine dealing with the vulnerability that came with being anything else.
"Well, it's about to get fucking freezing in a month or two, so I figured it'd be best to enjoy the lake before it gets too ungodly cold to step foot outside." Fox sure did tend to exaggerate.
