"Only you can get a cold in the summer," Gloria said, sounding honestly confused as her brother pushed her out of the way to get to the medicine cabinet. She glared before continuing to brush her teeth. As it happened during the summer, the siblings had woken up late. Yeager didn't have work until later, for which he was thankful. He'd needed the break from school.
After moving floss and deodorant and other toiletries around in the cabinet, he realized that there wasn't any cold medicine to be found. He almost groaned. "Where's Dads?" he asked his sister as she spit in the sink and wiped her mouth off with the towel hanging next to them. "Work. It's two o'clock, asshat." He felt too out of it to chastise her for language, simply groaned as he realized he would have to go out and get the medicine himself. He would have to go outside. Into the world. He hated the world, especially when he was sick.
"Is it even possible to get a cold in summer?" he muttered, taking the deodorant down and rubbing it under his armpits, at the same time a wave of dizziness crashing over him. Right. He didn't get good sleep either. "It may be hay fever," she told him, before adding nonchalantly, "Or you might be dying." The teenager left the room at that and he sniffed a little. Runny nose, headache, maybe he did have hay fever or some form of allergies. It would be a surprising new development, considering he'd never had either of those things before in his entire life. But they could development out of nowhere, right?
Yeager dressed and headed out, extra tissues stuffed into his pockets like a grandmother. Not his grandmother, whoever, who was currently out gambling at the casino. He drove to the convenience store and picked up whichever box looked the most promising. As he looked at the drinks, he figured he might as well get something else to help. Some tea, maybe, another old woman remedy. What else helped with colds? He rarely ever got sick, so he had no idea what to do with himself. This must have been what newborn animals who were abandoned by their mothers must feel like, stumbling around while trying to figure out how to fend for themselves.
As he walked down an aisle he stopped, feeling the need to sneeze. However, he didn't notice someone standing nearby until it was too late. Yeager sneezed, loud and messy and trying to bring his hands up in time to catch it. "Sorry for sneezing on you," he said, voice sounded as congested as he felt. He wasn't even in the right frame of mind to feel awkward about the situation.

Cause I belong to the hurricane; Leopold rarely traveled to Maple Hollow during the week. What with classes and such he didn't normally have time. However, class had let out early today on account of it being early in the semester. As he had walked out of the classroom his iPhone had gone off. It was a text message from his mother. Apparently her allergies were bothering her pretty badly. He had laughed at that. An Earth with allergies. What the hell kind of irony was that? He'd told her that he'd go pick her up some allergy medicine. He knew she wouldn't use it of course.
She was an environmentalist and believed that the Earth gave you everything you needed. Leopold had to agree. However, he acknowledged that sometimes it was okay to be a little modern and use a fast-acting medicine for relief. Besides he wanted to pick her up some potato chips and tea. She was terribly addicted to potato chips. He stopped by his dorm to pick up his wallet and then he headed for Maple Hollow. He never really took the bus when he was in town. There never seemed to be any real reason. Besides, vehicles hurt mother nature and there was never any reason for that.
Half an hour later Leopold turned into a small convenience store. Mental list intact the sixteen-year-old young man began wandering down aisles. He found his mother's favorite chips; baked. So he grabbed four bags of them. Two for her and two for him. Although, knowing her it would end up being three for her and one for him. He never could tell that woman no. Probably should grab a basket. The thought popped into his head as he walked by the entrance of the store, where the baskets sat. As he grabbed one he gently tossed his loot into it before moving on.
He now made his way to the back of the store where all the refrigerated drinks sat, begging for someone to take their cold bottles in their hand. Leo planned to answer such a call, despite it sounding weirdly sexual in his head. Never had a fantasy about a bottle before? Prude. A moment later Leopold had found his mother's favorite bottled tea and had placed two of them in the basket. Then he thought better about it and grabbed another one. It was as he was turning around, heading down another aisle, that it happened.
He heard the sound at the same moment he felt the wet, cold shower of mucus drops. The young man grimaced, disgust plainly written on his face. Good thing he had a strong immune system. He reached up and wiped his face off, really more of a habit than a necessity. "It's cool, bro. Got a bit of a cold do ya? Here. You should try this. Shit has so many electrolytes in it." As Leo spoke he reached into his basket and grabbed one of the bottles of tea that sat there. Smiling he handed it to the older gentleman in front of him. The dull aching in his chest was a sign that it was a good day. Normally, it was a searing pain by now.

A usually spirited and energized individual, Yeager was barely even coherent at this moment. Never in his life had he any experience with allergies, so he had no idea what he was in for. Then again, he was still thinking that he simply got some kind of virus from someone at school. There could have been something going around, though he had no clue of what it may be and he figured a memo might have been sent out about it if it was a problem. All he wanted was to figure out how in the hell he had managed to get this fucked up when it was July. He had a pretty decent immune system, much better than his absences from middle school attested to, so it was a pretty out of the ordinary thing.
It really sucked for him, considering summer was his favorite season and he wanted to enjoy it as much as possible. This meant swimming every chance he got and goofing off without fear of owing homework the next day. He was doing much better this year in school than he had the year before, and he supposed it was because he didn't party nearly as much as he used to. Sure, he went out drinking sometimes, but he focused more on his job and his schoolwork. It paid off for him, especially since the main problem with him was laziness. Though most didn't realize it, he was a genuinely intelligent guy. A big brain underneath the curly mop of hair.
The guy he sneezed on seemed to take it all in good stride, like he got assaulted by random stranger's snot every day. Yeager took it as him just being a lax dude. Which was nice, considering he might have gotten a death glare from other people in the same situation. Not that he would have actually minded; they were a stranger, he'd never see them again, but it wasn't like he was in the good frame of mind to deal with anyone's crap that day. "Thanks, man," he said as he looked over at the nutrition contents of the drink, like he could understand any of it. "I don't drink tea that much, to be honest, always thought that was kind of a snobby Brit dig." Then again, he had a lot of assumptions like that and rarely did they prove to be right.
He looked up at the stranger, dark hair and snakebites that made him curious as to just how old he was. Probably a little younger than him, couldn't tell for sure. "Hey, do you know if it's at all possible to get sick in the summer?" he asked him. He had tried with his sister, but talking with her never went anywhere good. "Because I mean, I got this nasty cold but I don't think it's a cold because how the hell am I getting a cold when it's balls hot out?" At least this made sense, though he had a sort of hazy look in his eyes. Both sleep deprivation and whatever was ailing him had took the life out of him. All he wanted was to get better, and he wondered if tea would actually do a good job. Maybe better than the cold stuff he was getting already.

Cause I belong to the hurricane; "Not a problem." Leo smiled his care-free little smile. It was hard to believe that this sixteen-year-old had ever seen a bad day in his life. He held on to a child-like happiness and innocence. Not that he was naive. He knew there was evil in the world, had witnessed it first hand. Every day he felt the pain that evil can bring. He simply refused to let that evil penetrate his psyche. Leo laughed softly. "Yeah, I understand. My mom is a bit of an Environmental enthusiast. It makes her happy." Leo shrugged gently, switching the basket to his other hand for a moment. "And I'm not gonna lie. It makes me happy too."
Leo's bright blue eyes took in the young gentleman in front of him. He certainly looked like he didn't feel very good. Then again Leopold didn't really know him. At all. Should probably pick up some allergy pills. Pointless though. She won't take them. He could already hear her 'the body is a temple' lecture. He loved that lecture. Made him think of childhood and warm tea. Whenever he was sick she would give him that lecture while he drank a warm glass of tea. He shook his head gently.
For a moment Leo simply blinked at the man. He wasn't really used to people asking him for advise. Not that people didn't respect his opinions. There was just rarely an opportunity for people to ask his opinions. Besides this was a complete stranger. Leo shook his head once more, black hair shivering from his movements. "Oh, well, it's perfectly possible to have a cold. I mean, colds aren't caused by cold weather. They're either caused by viruses or bacteria." The sixteen-year-old was able to sound quite polite during his informative mini-speech.
He smiled as he glanced out one of the windows of the store. "It is very warm out though. It's nice. I can't stand the winter." He turned his attention back to the gentleman. "I'm sorry though, bro. Sucks being sick during the best season of the year." Leo reached up with his free hand, running his fingers through his hair. Thoughtfully the young man reached back to push his iPhone more securely down in his pocket. He tilted his head and turned his attention back to the gentleman. "You should probably try to get some rest. Oh! You could also try to cook with garlic or ginger for a while. They're great for colds."
Outfit. Word. 428. Note. Sorry. Muse died.

Yeager listened as the boy told him that his mother was big on the environment. Apparently it made her happy, though he hadn't a clue whether it was the environment part or being an environmentalist. Either way, he didn't know whether or not he was the same. As a Water elemental who aspired to being an engineer, he hoped to find ways in using water energy for the future, but that wasn't something he talked to strangers about. Hell, some of his friends didn't even know that he had such high hopes. "Oh yeah? My mom's an environmentalist too." He shrugged. "And by environmentalist I mean hippie, heavy metal guitarist. But you know, it's pretty much the same." Though she wasn't even really his mother, just his surrogate, but he liked to call her that anyway. The boy appreciated her in his life, and it would seem rude not to consider her a legitimate mother. Not like she was there for him that often.
While this guy was generally well-mannered and nice, Yeager was...Yeager. He didn't have impeccable manners, had the aura of being a slacker. Made even worse by the fact that he was suffering from what could possibly be a cold, though he couldn't even say for sure. At least he didn't go around in pajama pants; he would never be caught dead in public like that. As a matter of fact, right now he wore a nice plain tee and jeans, both designer even though outward appearances didn't seem such. He only wore designer.
"My immune system's usually the shit," He said, pure example of just how mannerly he was. They were both teenagers, not like he was trying to impress him with perfect speech and posture and whathaveyou. "So this is suspicious, I'm starting to think I was cursed by a voodoo witch doctor. I mean, that's possible." Or his sister, which would be even more possible. He already believe that she had connections to the devil, probably had some voodoo dolls herself. What if she was behind his ailment?
Yeager nodded his head gently as the stranger spoke of winter, how much he hated it, that kind of thing. "God knows I'm going to be out though, nothing's gonna keep me away from the fresh air." He was the type to usually hole up during the wintertime, hibernate and eat a lot. Well, he ate a lot anyway and even now the thought of food made his stomach rumble, just as Mr. Stranger brought it up. "Sure...but I don't know how to cook. Good advice though." He pointed his finger. "I'll give it to one of my dads." Gloria liked to cook sometimes, though she never ate when she did. (That was actually an over-exaggeration, but one he enjoyed making.) Otherwise, he was pretty inept considering he had no reason to learn how to cook.
Remembering something, he said, "Oh yeah, I'm Yeager. Ehh..." He had held out his hand before pulling it back, remembering that the guy would not enjoy taking it. Instead, he scratched the back of his curly head of hair. As a nice and friendly guy, he was the type of person to be really overbearing to strangers. The lingering type that made people uncomfortable. This was only if they rubbed him the right way. If not, he was either a bitch or walking away immediately after. This kid was obviously the former. Because hey, he took time out of his day to help a brother out. That was much appreciated by a sickly Water graduate.
