A house party! Of all the places Kelsey wanted a reunion with the weekend scene a regular party was not one of them. She had been avoiding going out the past two weeks with duty and they had been the longest two weeks of her life. She thought about what her friends were doing all the time while she was working and had dreamed about going out to a club. There was no way in Hell she would have dressed like this if she knew she was just going to someone’s house. And now the only thing she wanted to do was drag herself to bed and try again tomorrow. Instead she sat herself on a couch as she watched everyone else have a good time.
Kelsey surveyed the room as she drew her beer to her lips. By now the buzz what getting to her as she watched the other party members dead on. She watch a boy grip a girl’s waist tightly, unconsciously pulling her against his hips and she suddenly wondered why she was attending this boring party when she could be at the club. Oh yeah, because her friends said that this would be a quick stop along the way to pre game. Funny how a quick stop turns into the whole night. So Kelsey had come her under false pretenses. They had been there for a half an hour and Kelsey was ready to leave, but she didn't need to ask if Natalie was ready to go, as she watched her press against a random guy. It was proof enough that she was going to end up someplace else in a few moments.
She curled both hands around her own bottle as she watched her friend sneak upstairs with her new friend. There goes her ride out of here. The alcohol had made her pleasantly warm, but so far it had failed to give her more than just a passing buzz. With no parents to be seen it was a wild free for all for a lot of the Academy students. There was a sprinkling of older college students, all Fire and Thunder she assumed. Kelsey would be embarrassed to find herself in the same party. She had enough of them at school. Kelsey felt as though someone’s eyes were on her. Trusting her gut, she turned her head and gave up a small smile that broke across her face. ”Don’t tell me I’ve got something on my face,” she teased before titling back her bottle once more to get at her cheap beer.

pour it up, that's how we ball out By twenty minutes in, Mona was already drunk. It didn't take long, and that was because that's what she came here for. To get drunk, and forget. She found out about the party from some her siblings' friends. Mona had some people that she called friends, but they weren't really. She knew friendship. Her best friend was Adam, and she remembered how that felt, even though she'd been doing a good job at being a shitty friend as of late. In any case, she knew how they were supposed to treat each other. Now, she couldn't even find them. Beer in hand, and she was alone. Or she would be, until she found someone to flirt with. She was a lot more friendly when she was drunk, her inhibitions freer. She didn't care as much.
And that's what she wanted, not to care. That's the purpose of this. The feeling of the bass in her feet erased any thoughts, the alcohol made it all feel good. Sober, she thought about her life and how much she sucked. How things were getting worse financially, how Pearl was pressuring her into getting a job. All the fighting. More than that, all the silence. They may have yelled at each other, but they never actually talked. Not about the important things. Drunk in a room full of strangers, and that didn't matter anymore. She felt pleasantly fuzzy. She could breathe more easily, and she didn't have to worry about the guilt. It was only after that she remembered that this was not what she should be doing, that she should have been studying, that she should have been what her mother told her that she could be. She had always been intelligent and in-charge and responsible. Now that had flown out the window. Sometimes, she wished she could get it back. But that train of thought ended when she was partying.
Soon enough, though, she was bored. She couldn't find anyone that could entertain her for long enough, and she had cut off her lost conversation with the words, "I hate you, go die." After walking away, though, she realized that may have been the best conversation she would be getting that night. But then she saw someone else, and stumbled her way over to the girl. She looked kind of familiar, too, though in a way that she couldn't really place her finger on it. The fact that she was completely wasted didn't help, and the fact was made relatively apparent by the can in her fingers. She held it up to her lips as she thought, but then the girl turned and regarded her and she took a moment to actually register. "You're pretty," she said frankly. "All these other girls are ugly ass bitches, but you're hot." She didn't have that slutty, I'm trying really hard, notice me look about her. And even though Mona could be considered one of those girls, she didn't look that way either. She wore an over-sized shirt and leggings, nose-piercing in and hair huge and knotted. She looked more like a grungy rocker than anything.
"So please don't be boring kay," she told her. Or ordered her, which her words sounded more like. She poked a finger into the other girl's arm. "Because I am going to fucking lose it. I'm Mona, by the way, because I don't know you but you look kind of familiar." Her words were kind of mis-matched, strange, and it didn't take a genius to realize that she had clearly drank too much and that someone should be taking the beer away from ehr.

Mona’s candidness had thrown Kelsey a bit off guard. The compliments were well received by the older girl, causing her to grin in reaction. It wasn’t like Kelsey to ever turn down admiration of any kind. Drunk words were sober thoughts right? And the fact that Mona was a girl didn’t bother her in the slightest. ”Hello Mona. My name’s Kelsey.” For a brief moment she felt bad that she didn’t recognize the younger girl as she did for Kelsey. She had made it a point to at least know everyone in her element by face and Mona’s was not stirring up any memory. ”She must be from some other dorm,” Kelsey decided.
Kelsey looked at the fellow blonde, and for a moment, she wondered the same thing. Why was she so hell bent on being uninterested in the party? Perhaps it was because the girl seemed so repressed all the time; perhaps it was because she was getting tired of being seen with as the girl who everyone believed to have a stick up her ass; or maybe because Kelsey wanted to look like she was much more responsible than she really was. Though, the hard truth of it - the truth that Kelsey refused to tell anyone was that she still had a hard time relaxing. Every time she was at a party she fell back on her better than thou façade to avoid the slight uncomfortable feeling she got. Maybe she needed to go to the party just for the sake of going somewhere where it was perfectly acceptable to seem distracted.
Kelsey finished up the rest of her drink and smiled towards the younger girl. ”I’ll do my best to entertain you.” Kelsey’s eyes raked over Mona for a brief second before landing on the can in her hand. ”Though I think you’ll do a better job of it than me,” she said neutrally. It was clear to the Fire that this girl had been drinking. It was a party after all and what other reason would anyone be here for. She didn’t hold any judgments against the other blonde. There was nothing worse than being drunk and having some sober member of the party start being you down. She had been on the receiving end of that accusation many of times when she first held off from drinking. ‘I mean look at her, standing there like she's better than me. I bet she never leaves the library. She thinks she's so smart. What an arrogant bitch.’ Alcohol did a good job of hiding deeper feelings. It was easy to blame alcohol.
An evil little thought crossed the blonde’s mind as her thoughts were brought back to the mousy young girl in front of her. Reaching for her friend’s abandoned drink, she swapped her empty bottle for the harder mixed drink. ”You should sit with me Mona,” she patted the spot next to her incase the younger girl didn’t catch everything. ”You look like you are much more fun than all of these assholes.” She was hoping the alcohol made offer sound much more tempting than it was. It was a bit twisted, but guys did it all the time with far more malicious thoughts behind their actions. Kelsey shifted in her seat to make room for the younger girl, and turned a bit so she would be facing Mona a bit more. One of her hands stretched out and found comfort lying across the back of the sofa. ”Drink with me.”

pour it up, that's how we ball out "Kelsey."
Mona repeated the name several times, trying out different accents, testing it out on her tongue. Had she ever been drunker? Perhaps not. Then again, at least she wasn't hanging from the ceiling fan. That was a key indicator that she was too far gone. At least she was drunk. She generally didn't get along with people instead of immediately making enemies out of them. It still happened, though.
She leaned back a bit, touching a hand to her chest, movements loose and easy. A lazy smile graced her lips. "Good!" she said when Kelsey told her that she would do her best to entertain her. Now that's what she needed! Though she could have done with a little more enthusiasm. Some pizzazz. How would she be entertaining then, Mona wondered. She seemed relatively sober, though her own perception wasn't at its best. Clearly. "Was that mean?" she said, blending together 'what's that' in response to her saying that she would do a better job. "You mean like, entertainment? Oh, do you think I'm a stripper?" She pointed to her face, leaning forward and getting close to Kelsey. Uncomfortable close. "You can smell the hops on my breath," close. "Because I am not a stripper." At this point, she could be. Who said she wouldn't start taking her clothes off? But she just wanted to make sure that Kelsey understood that was not what she did for a living. Her mother would kill her. Oh, that's right, she's dead. A little, panicked giggle rose up in her throat before she could stop it.
She watched as the other girl traded drinks, her own still in her hand as her efforts went toward not spilling it all over. She felt a surge of pride when Kelsey said she was better than everyone else. Of course, that's just how she interpreted it. Her hand shot up in the devil horns as she yelled, "Fuck yeah." Damn right she was better than all the other frigid bitches around there. Kelsey sat down and she made to sit with her, but she stumbled a bit, knocking into the other girl's legs before collapsing on the couch. Her hand tipped over and she spilled a little of the beer before realizing what she was doing and tilting her hand back up. "Woops," she said, giggling. Something she definitely would not have been doing sober. She did not giggle.
"Ahh, look at them cunts," she said with a snort as her eyes fell on the other people around. Boring, they all were, and all she had in her hands was a beer and some new company. "Fuck you guys!" Mona yelled at them for...well, for no real reason, of course. She didn't need a reason to be obnoxious. Except, of course ,the glaringly obvious one.

Kelsey was practically blindsided by Mona’s stripper comment. The other blonde looked far too young to be messing around in that profession, or so she hoped. She would feel terrible if someone got dragged into that business looking as fragile and as young as Mona looked right now. Though in her current state it probably wouldn’t take much convincing. She was so close to Kelsey’s face that she could smell the alcohol practically rolling off of the young girl. Kelsey pulled back a bit only so she would go cross-eyed. ”No, not like a stripper,” Kelsey clarified. ”You just look like you know how to have fun.” Lots of drunken fun. As if proving her point, Mona let out an adorable giggle and struggled to seat herself on the sofa. The girl spilled some beer on the sofa as Kelsey tried to steady her even in a stationary position.
Someone had to stop this girl from drinking herself into a stupor, but unfortunately that wouldn’t be Kelsey today. She was enjoying the little spitfire now sitting next to her. When Mona had so eloquently deemed the crowd cunts, Kelsey was shocked. For a second she was bewildered, only to slowly begin to crack herself. Chuckling at how surreal this was all becoming Kelsey decided to joined in. ”Yeah, fuck you guys.” Most of the party goers were probably oblivious to what the two were saying, but those who lingered near the sofa seemed to be hearing them loud and clear. ”And fuck Natalie for leaving me on this couch while she goes and gets it in.” Yes. This is what happens at parties: you drink until you can't drink anymore, you don't give a shit about anything, you do stupid things you wouldn't normally let yourself do, and you generally just try to have the best time of your life in the span of a few hours. It was simple as that.
When Kelsey got drunk, she always got way more touchy feely than she would be sober. No matter who was near, she’d be slinging her arm around the girl’s shoulder, wrapping her hand around the guy's waist, or just hugging her friends out of nowhere. Everyone had their things. Maybe Mona’s was stumbling and swearing. There was no better time than to test it out now. ”What about those two over there Mona?” In the corner it looked as though one of the female party goers was crying her eyes out as her friend’s words fell to deaf ears. ”I bet you her boyfriend broke up with her...or better yet, cheated on her ugly ass.” Or maybe it was a jealous rage that set her off. Kelsey had no idea other than the fact that the girl looked pathetic. She leaned in a bit closer as she kept her eyes trained on the two girls in the corner. ”She’ll end up jumping on top of the next guy she sees just to get back at him.” All of this was made up, but Kelsey was having far too much fun making it up as she went along.

pour it up, that's how we ball out Mona might have made a move had she not been taken. She had a boyfriend now, and for all her faults, she was a loyal person. Sure, she'd never had a relationship like this before, so she really was just learning about it. Altogether, however, she had always been there for her family. Why would a boyfriend be any different? A boyfriend who she didn't know anything about save for that he liked to party. Her eyes brightened when Kelsey said that she looked like she knew how to have fun. "Oh, I do," she said with an air of pompousness. "Usually it doesn't involve these kinds of shitfests." She waved her fingers around, like a duchess dismissing peasants. Clearly she was just the definition of fun as she nearly toppled over, only steadied by a hand on Kelsey's part. "Ugh, gravity," she muttered under her breath. Her entire problem was the fact that it existed. Totally not the beer that was in her hand. Over half-empty. That was a disappointment.
While Mona didn't usually have a filter, she got even worse with no inhibitions and no cares. She leaned back and laughed, kicking her feet up and down as if she found this particularly hilarious. She became even more thrilled when Kelsey agreed with her. "Fuck Natalie," she said emphatically. "Especially that name, who name's their kid Natalie? Sounds like a bitchy upper class white girl who plays violin. Ew." She made a gagging sound in her throat to show her distaste for the name. Mona was fucking classy, Kelsey was nice, Natalie was just a train wreck, though. However, remembering that she didn't know who Natalie was, she decided to ask. "Who the hell is Natalie?" She turned to Kelsey, emphasis on the name to show just how much she disliked it, as if simply saying it put strain on her and she did not want to say it again.
She looked over at the two Kelsey indicated, pulling her legs underneath her and scrunching her nose up. The one girl was crying, and it made her laugh. She wouldn't have done that any other time, she'd have rolled her eyes, but of course she had a outward display of mirth. "Oh my god, really?" she said, exasperation with her last word as Kelsey said that she probably just broke up with her boyfriend and would be hopping on the first dick she found. In so many words, of course. "Hoooww did she even get a boyfriend in the first place? Maybe it was a dark place. Maybe at the bottom of the ocean." She gasped. "I bet she's actually an anglerfish. You know those creepy motherfuckers with huge teeth." She placed her free hand in front of her face as if to demonstrate the fish that she meant. Unfortunately, she couldn't actually do the little light thing on its head. That probably was how she drew in males.
"Anglerfish!" she yelled. "Anglerfish, where's your boyfriend?!" She was obviously looking at the other girl, and she did look around, before settling her eyes on Mona and looking confused. The other girl simply waggled her fingers in what would have been a greeting had she been a nice person. "Ahhh, look at him, he's gonna be Anglerfish's next victim," she said, looking at a guy wearing a snapback, holding a beer bottle, pants slipping down his legs. With a belt. He had a belt, the poor thing! She shook her head. Maybe those two could hook up.

A breathy chuckle left her lips at Mona’s comment about gravity, and Kelsey was reminded just why she had been so content to curl up on the couch and just observe the party. There was no way she’s drink enough to let herself reach Mona’s level of intoxication. She had a funny feeling that she would have to be the one dragging Natalie back to the dorms, which Kelsey thought was a major party foul. Inviting the Leader out and then getting so smashed she’s be the one responsible for her. Kelsey wanted a break from that role. Speaking of gravity, Mona’s hair seemed to be fighting a loosing battle against it. Kelsey half expected to find tiny twig in it as if she had been stranded on an island, Lord of the Flies style. It was cute on her, unlike the barrage of words coming out of the innocent looking girl. Clearly from what was coming out of her mouth Mona was not some wide-eyed doe.
This girl was going to kill Kelsey if she kept this up. This was quickly turning into a comedic roast. A malicious, booze filled night of ruining people’s self-esteem. Why there weren’t cameras here to capture this gold would have to be answered later. ”I don’t know about violins, but she definitely can be a bitch. Case in point, right now.” The lengths people would go for a good lay. Kelsey secretly hoped for Natalie’s night to end horribly now. Nothing of serious consequence that could cause harm, but if she somehow ended up not getting lucky, then Kelsey would consider that a fair trade in the karma department. ”Natalie Steward is a lying selfish bitch who makes false promises. You don’t know her? What dorm are you from?” Kelsey began to grow a little concerned for the younger girl sitting next to her. When she first stumbled over towards the leader she was all alone. Did some asshat go and leave this girl on her own as well?
As Mona went on bashing the newly dubbed anglerfish, Kelsey gave the girl a tiny wave at the devastated girl. No shame, no shame. ”In order to find a guy like that it must be damp and dark. Like mold.” Mona was taking this made up story Kelsey planned out and turning it into real life. Shit, no use stopping her now though. Reasoning with drunken people is like pulling teeth, or so the leader would imagine. ”I never understood the idea of wearing pants if they are going to be low. It fucking defeats the point of even getting dressed.”
Kelsey squinted through the haze of other partygoers hammering down on the cheap beer provided by the host, trying to discern the flicker of movement she's positive she'd glimpsed up ahead through the gray haze. The potential sign of life is quick to spark her curiosity as only to try and match Mona’s level of brilliant insulting. Seriously the A game the younger blonde had caused Kelsey to genuinely laugh and smile- something she hadn’t done in quiet sometime. “What was that? Jesus Christ is that a Germlin?” A rather short girl with way to much make up and not enough skill to actually apply it whipped her head over towards Kelsey’s direction. Like the girl cared if she was heard or not by her victim. What kind of leader would she be if she didn’t let everyone know the dangers that lurked in this party? Kelsey watched the movie, she knew what would happen if the rules weren’t followed. ”She’s must be a Germlin. No one feed that thing after midnight,” Kelsey announced.

pour it up, that's how we ball out She felt bad for poor Kelsey, being abandoned by snobby upperclass white girl Natalie. Even though she was a white girl, there was a keen difference -- she could not be considered upperclass by any means. "You...you could do so much better," she said. She needed to drop the bitches and hang out with some cool cats. Did Mona know any cool cats to hook her up with? No, not really, she didn't have anyone to hook her up with. Kind of sad, but not as sad when she was completely hammered. She threw her fingers up in a peace sign when she said, "Thunder dorm, reppin'. Guessing you're from...elsewhere." She flapped her hand around, gesturing to space in general. At this point, she wouldn't care were she a Water or Earth. But she seemed like too cool a person to be one of them, what with Mona's preconceived notions of those elements being stuck-up, boring pricks.
Mona felt the success swoop in when Kelsey waved at the girl, enjoying when someone played along with her. Because that's what kept her going, someone joining in on her merrymaking. "They met in a dark, moldy closet so romantic," she cooed, shaking her head. What would a deep sea fish be doing in a closet? Who knows! Mona nodded her agreement enthusiastically, bobbing her head quickly as if she had to reassure Kelsey right that moment that she was completely correct. "Right? And when they have a belt? Does no one remember the function of belts?!" By the end, her voice had raised a little bit in desperation. "Man, you preach the truth." A compliment by any means. Mona was feeling rather nice today -- or maybe not feeling, she just happened to be in a superb mood.
Making fun of people probably had something to do with it. She'd been sipping on her drink when Kelsey pointed out another chick, and as she laid eyes on her she spit some back into her cup, trying to hold back laughter. Success was minimal as she wiped her mouth. "Ohmygod, like a demented Furby," she whispered, wonderment in her voice. Then, louder, she proclaimed, "It's after midnight, she's gonna kill us all with her piranha teeth." She held her fingers in front of her mouth, more or less resembling the killer rabbit from The Holy Grail. That would have been another good example she figured. In any case, she felt as if she was truly, deeply bonding with this girl on a profound level. What other way was there to make friends? "But you know who's not a piranha Furby? You're not." She cooed as she wrapped an arm around Kelsey's shoulder, leaning into her side. "You're so pretty, how'd you get so pretty?" Her pickup skills were very impressive with enough alcohol in her system. So very impressive.

Kelsey Hanrahan, first of her family to return to the Academy in over two decades, sat with her legs crossed, an elbow tossed over the back of the sofa, her fingers lightly holding the alcohol filled glass by its rim, while her other hand tapped lightly against Mona’s shoulder. As she sipped her drink, her piercing hawk eyes kept careful watch on several members of the party. The men seemed determined to drink themselves stupid, grinning like fools as the held each other and sang along with their equally, if not more intoxicated females. ”I already am Mona,” she reassured the younger blonde. Kelsey wanted a way to keep the younger girl by her side during everyday life just so she could hear what laughable and over the top statements she could think of next.
”I’m actually located in the Fire dorms. I’m one of the Leaders,” she boasted. Well-manicured fingernails strummed against the glass that was settled between Kelsey's fingers. Lifting the glass to her lips, the Fire girl took a deep gulp of the liquid and let her light brown eyes slide closed as the alcohol burned its way down her throat to pool in her stomach. The bittersweet bite of the drink made the blonde's mind begin to slow as her fear and anger dripped out of her brain with each quick sip. This peaceful tranquility was exactly what Kelsey needed, especially given the situation that Natalie had thrust her in. Now, among dealing with her rapidly crumbling relationship with her friend, the girl also had the loveable yet very drunk Mona to occupy her thoughts. Natalie was neither here nor there as far as Kelsey was concerned.
Kelsey was pleased to make Mona laugh; satisfied even that she could keep up with the foul mouth Thunder. ”The truth and nothing but the truth,” she said, holding up her hand in mock salute. ”Thank you Mona-” Kelsey cut herself off as she felt an arm wrap around behind her and a gentle weight buried into her side. Had she been sober Kelsey would have explained the concept of genetics, and as much as it pained her, she obviously couldn’t take credit for how she looked. Yes, she presented herself well, clean, and put together, but it was her fairly attractive parents who had passed on favorable genes. ”Careful now, you might lead a girl on,” Kelsey joked. This was the second time tonight that Mona had complimented Kelsey on her appearance. ”You’re too adorable for words,” she admitted. Kelsey’s hand began to wander towards Mona’s blonde mane as she idly twirled a piece of the girl’s hair between two of her fingers.

pour it up, that's how we ball out Mona was a sucker for women in charge, she appreciated that. Not that she would have normally shown that she cared, but she did look very smitten with the idea as she grinned. "Look at you, getting shit done." So the Fire leader? She had hopes of becoming leader before, but she thought of how piss-poor her grades were and all the days she was absent from class. People would only know her from partying considering that she didn't easily make friends, even in her own element. "I think I heard about you, like top of the class or some stuff?" Could have been a different name that she heard, but she was fairly certain. In any case, what were the chances of meeting someone who led their element at a shitty little party? It was fairly amazing.
Mona's teenage hormones didn't like to discriminate between gender. A long time ago, she would have wrinkled her nose at the idea. Of course, at the time she would have also been making mud pies near the trails and force-feeding them to her brothers. In any case, Kelsey had some nice ass hair, and she ran her fingers through it without thinking that her companion would appreciate it. Or that she was simply humoring the drunk she was now forced to deal with. "But I'd never lead you on." Kelsey was too pretty for her to do that. No way! But that implied other things. She hummed pleasantly when the other girl ran her fingers through her hair. "Adorable?" she said, her light voice carrying "offense". No, she did not find that at all offensive, but she still felt the need to make a scene.
She moved from the couch to stand, trying her best to balance so she didn't spill her drink again. Holding a hand to her chest, because she was making a very important announcement. "I am a damn sexy bitch," she proclaimed. "Y'all better recogn--oop," She stumbled back a bit, bumping into a guy who gave her a dirty look. She responded by flipping him off, but decided it might be best just to sit down before she ended up falling over in the middle of the floor. Though she did think that Kelsey would be nice enough to move her or something. Still, Mona would rather save herself the embarrassment. Settling back, she decided to be rather blunt as the alcohol allowed. "So do you dig girls?" Straight and to the point.
