WORST MEMORY Death of her mother and the subsequent distancing of her father. But if you ask her, she'd say she doesn't care.
LONG-TERM GOAL Please... this girl is so lost she doesn't know what she wants for dinner. Maybe a long term goal could be that she just graduates if she really cared that much.

HISTORY She lived a normal childhood, really... kind of... She grew up on the east coast of the United States, living an Americanized life style. People liked to ask her where she's from, and she told them New Jersey. Then they would ask her where her parents are from and she would say they're from South Dakota. Really, it's kind of boring.
At least until her mother died when Ester was about ten years old. It sucked to say the least. Up until that point, Ester had been a normal child, laughing and playing and having friends. But then her mom got sick and there was no turning back. Her father started distancing himself from the world when she first got sick and the news was that it was terminal. He spent all his time at the hospital and when he wasn't there, he was locked away in his room. He often forgot to have someone watch Ester when he went to the hospital, and he would ignore her pleas to let her go with him to see mommy. She hardly got to see her mother in her last months and it wasn't until her father stopped going to the hospital that she realized what that meant.
Ester pretty much had to take care of herself after that. She had some friends at school, but she quickly found that her anger and resentment at her own situation damaged those relationships. And just like that, she didn't have a single friend in school. Her father never cooked dinner or did laundry or the dishes or anything. He went to work and then came home and went to his room. Ester can't remember the last time she spoke to her father.
It came as quite a shock when she turned fourteen and she was suddenly able to some freaky things... like run a current through metal. Weird... huh. She didn't have anyone to talk to about it, so she kept it to herself. It wasn't until she got angry at a boy for making fun of her and giving him an electrical burn on his neck when she started to choke him that people were like what?!
Lucky for her, those scouts had known about her family's past elemental history. It skipped three generations before popping up in Ester and they were able to take her away from the public before anything came out. Her father was informed of the situation, but he was incredibly stoic through the whole endeavor. He didn't say goodbye to her or anything. Whatever. She left to live in this boarding school and she would go home during long breaks if she felt like it. But she really didn't. Only if she was having a hard time tolerating everyone at the school.
Regardless, she went to this school and took the classes and learned about her abilities and the abilities of others. Acculturation is a strong thing indeed and it didn't take long for her to come to hate the water and earth elementals and all that stuff. She didn't make friends. She didn't go out of her way to have people like her. She kept to herself. Surprisingly, Ester decided she wanted to keep going to school so she got herself a job in the nearby town so she could pay the tuition for college and she's been attending her first year.

SECRET WORD Correct.
RP SAMPLEEster's eyes were hard as she glared at him, her brow furrowed angrily. She had never met anyone like him. He was so sure of himself, but his certainty was his undoing. There was no way he would have been able to get out of that situation without her help. He had been bound and sapped of his strength. That Overmind would have had her way with him and then probably eaten him... or taken him as a play thing. Or something. Ester didn't really want to think about what that sick Overmind had in mind for him. He was a fellow Vampyre, but that didn't mean Ester felt any kinship toward him, and even if she did, his animosity toward her help would have wiped any remnants of camaraderie in an instant. He was ungrateful, unwilling to see that she saved his life. Ester's lips tensed in a fiery anger.
"Meddling?" The word dripped from her seething mouth. It was such an insult to call her rescue meddling. She almost died because she decided to help the stranger. Granted... he had been the reason she was still alive since he killed the Overmind, but she never would have had that encounter with her if it wasn't for him. She had put herself needlessly at risk and Ester hated anything that threatened her life. She was a survive-at-all-costs person.
She noticed how he seemed to be struck by her ferocity and it gave her some satisfaction to see him back away from her. He looked at her with shock, like she had revealed some great truth to him. He bit his lip so hard that he drew blood, but Ester didn't soften her eyes. She hated him for being so stubborn and for insulting her very being. She didn't need to help him. And he would be dead if she didn't. How could he not see that? It infuriated her. Because Ester didn't go out of her way to help people, when she finally did, she was taken aback by the lack of gratitude. All because he believed in something called 'destiny'. How could anyone believe in destiny with the world the way it was? There was no such thing as fate and a set path for people. Everyone was running around with their heads cut off. Destiny played no part in their lives.
He then went to call her a stupid woman and told her to fuck off after he turned away from her. She blinked back her surprise at his lack of response. "Oh! I'm sorry! Don't like it when you're proven wrong?" Ester growled angrily. "God! What is wrong with you? Are you that dense? How the hell have you survived this long?"
