FEARS
- his family growing apart. He knows it is happening but he hopes he can somehow prevent it. Family should always be united right?
- his sister following his footsteps. Jack is aware of all the mistakes he has made and he hopes to shield his sister from doing the same, but it doesn't help when she finds ways around his hawk-eye protection.
- losing control of himself. When he first realized he was a thunder elemental, he didn't know how to control it and almost hurt his mother. It pained him to think that he could physically hurt someone as innocent as his mother therefore he works painstakingly hard to make sure he can maintain a steady level of control. He'll never push his limits unless it is absolutely necessary.
BEST MEMORY first discovering he was a thunder. He knew that there was a strong possibility of being a fire, but the concept of fire was so dangerous. It could be so unpredictable and... consuming. When he first felt the inner power within him, well, it was such an indescribable moment.
WORST MEMORY there are two that tie for worst memory. The first being when he almost hurt his mother whilst he was practicing his thunder abilities. Her fear stricken eyes will never leave his memory. The second memory is when his father left. He didn't give much information as to why but it hurt. A lot. He felt abandoned and more alone than ever before. He knew he had his whole family with him, but there was no dominant male figure, it was all lead by women and that alone intimidated him for a bit. After a while though, he realized he had to step up and be what his father wasn't; present and involved with the family.
LONG-TERM GOAL Protect and provide for his family. He no longer wants to see them suffer because of their current financial state.

HISTORY The Landry household welcomed Jack with open arms and with loving kisses. His mother being the one who did the kissing while his father made sure to prop him up from time to time when he felt low. Being born into a poor household only meant constantly having to adapt to situations so that they could compensate for being poor. When he went to elementary school, he wasn't much of an outcast despite his patched clothing. Children tended to play with him because he was lively and quite a goofy child. He was honestly very happy when he was a child.
As he grew up, the gossip that the parents exchanged began to reach the ears of their kids. Jack slowly lost more and more friends as they realized that if they were friends with him they would have a lower chance of being popular. He shrugged this off and enjoyed his days playing with the 'true' friends that he kept close. As his family grew so did the worsening financial crisis. He watched as his mother and father worked hard to make ends meet. He had been witness to the initial friction between his two parents but always paid little heed to it. He figured it was just the product of all the stress over monetary issues. He focused on paying attention in school especially since he had a knack for it. He figured all the rest would sort itself out and they'd be in the clear any day soon. He should have paid more attention to the warning signs because then he might have been better prepared for the worst.
His father left.
It was all it took for him to break. If his father could not stand the lifestyle they were living, how could he? His father had easily left them all behind. This arose so many negative questions inside of him, most of which consisted questioning why he bothered with life anymore. He began to resent his mother and found himself moping around the house more and more. It was only when his sister was around that he put a brave face on. It wasn't easy but he knew that he had to do this for her.
When his abilities began to show, he felt a flicker of hope. He wasn't his father's son. He was his own man. It wasn't long when he came to the decision that he was not going to be like his father at all and instead the polar opposite. He practiced almost insatiably until his body would collapse with fatigue. He needed perfection. He needed to prove that he could be something worth keeping. It wasn't until one day when he was practicing that his mother happened to be coming along. It almost severely hurt her. Luckily, she had managed to step away. The memory was forever ingrained in his mind and he began to be far more cautious. He didn't want to hurt her, or worse, he didn't want to be the reason for her death. Little did he know that life had other plans.
His mother was soon diagnosed with brain cancer just as his sister discovered her own skills. The new diagnosis cast a dreary cloud around the family as the talk of death circled around them. It was inevitable and treatment was a fairy tale. They had little money and his sister began to work more often to help pay for the daily needs. The ties between the family are loosening and their is little unity to show between them all. He feels his sister hover around him, but he knows that it has less to do with spending time with him and more with her genuine curiosity of his life. He protectively attempts to shield her from the hazardous and reckless lifestyle he has now chosen. He also tries his best to smile around his mother and help his elder sister out when she asks. His mother's brush with death is causing each of the family members to take up chores or tasks around the house. They all know that their mother will die, it is an unspoken fact. Now they are all waiting and it is the wait that slowly kills them from within. Other than that, Jack has become far more reserved, a mere shadow of the happy child he once was.

SECRET WORD Correct
RP SAMPLEAmber; that was an appropriate word to describe the girl's eyes. He had been debating between two different shades, but it seemed her gown had tricked him. He was always amazed how a certain color could offset the color of someone's eyes. She didn't seem to be too eager to talk about her eyes though. Why was it? No doubt she had had her fair share of conversations with boys who were trying to get a home run. She had been skeptical about dancing with him for that very reason. He wasn't going to push her in that direction, especially when he now knew that she had strong ideals. He was pleased to know that they matched his perfectly. Wait a second...
Stop. He mentally beat himself up for allowing his mind to travel that far. This is what happened when Leon became entranced with a girl. It was particularly hard to snap out of this mentality since he was such a hopeless romantic in the sense that he did like the feeling that came with flirting and becoming closer to a person. There were many times when he was rejected because he was just this type of person. He had seen what it was like to be the nice guy and always be turned down because girls wanted a thrill. He always found it infuriating to be constantly friend-zoned, but he learned not to mind, besides as long as the other person was content, then eventually so was he. Leon forced himself to focus on the dance at hand especially since it had become a bit clearer that she wasn't interested. Right? He didn't want to answer that question just at that moment, but the facts were clear and since his mind never rested, it began to lay them out for him. First, she was his sister's best friend. Second, she was older. Third, er.. he was sure there was a third reason.
The dance was intimate. There was no denying that much. His arms rested against her softly as he guided her through the throng of dancing students. They were in perfect synchronization after a bit. It took them a few seconds to adapt to the others movements, but they did so quickly, like true royalty should when dancing. He liked it. Just as the song was nearing it's end, he was mentally preparing to ask her to dance again. The second dance would no doubt bring them a bit closer and although there was no chance of anything ever happening between the two of them, he could still cling to the hope of one more dance with her and her lovely amber eyes. The song ended. She pulled herself away from him so quickly that he didn't even have a chance to frown, but there was the unmistakable surprise in his coal eyes. "You're welcome. Thank you as well for dancing with me." He managed to tag on before she completely left. He had never seen a girl disappear so quickly from him. Leon was observant and had not missed her falter. It was something that confounded him all that much more. If she had faltered when she was leaving, then that had to mean that she had not wanted to leave immediately. There had to be a reason for her quick leave. He came to the startling realization that he might be really terrible at dancing. Reason three. Thank you mind. Leon realized he was standing amidst the students with no dancing partner. There were a few stares directed in his direction. His little abandonment had not gone amiss with the students. Act cool. Just walk away. Do it with style. He flashed a sheepish grin and stepped out of the dance floor and over to get himself some water while he began to muse about the beauty's sudden leave. Had it been his dancing or had he imagined the intimacy that had been sparking between the two? Perhaps he did. As he finished getting his fill of water, he decided to drop it. It was one conversation and one dance. It meant nothing for her and so it should mean nothing to him, no matter how intriguing she had had been. They would resume being acquaintances. He'd learn to live with that.
