There was something about the music store that Lark found relaxing. The smell of the polish used to shine the strings and winds, to the sounds of bongo drum lessons going on in one of the back rooms, to everything in between. Her job was not always fun considering there was clean-up and other menial tasks to keep the store in tip top shape but nothing she could not handle. Over all working here was probably the best place she could be job-wise. "Lark, don't forget that you have a guitar lesson in a few hours. And we need to re-label some of the string sizes later, too." Her co-worker spoke up, her gaze drawing upwards from where she was sitting on the floor re-stringing an electric guitar. The child whom she gave lessons to in the previous hour had a bit more energy behind his strum than anticipated. "Alright, after I do this and re-organize the CD's in the front of the store I guess we can do the strings, and then the lesson after." There never was a full moment of rest for her.
After the string had been replaced, Lark set about working on the CD's that had been scattered and misplaced by previous visitors to the store. They picked up the ones they were interested in and if they changed their mind they set it down wherever they saw fit. The A's were in the D's and the Z's were in the H's. This was almost a daily thing. She sighed as she snagged a case and moved it back into its original place; the sound of the front door rang in her ears a few moments after.
"Welcome!" One of the workers at the cash register greeted cheerfully. Lark turned her head to catch sight of a familiar face and smiled, abandoning the CD's for a moment to wave to the other girl. "Hey, Serena," Lark said cheerfully. She knew that Serena was incapable of speaking and so did not expect a verbal response. She was not fond of making long winded conversations anyway so this was of no consequence to her. "What did you come in for today?" For some sort of music, obviously, but as to what it was Serena wanted she could not be sure. If only she could read minds.

Serena loved the music store. She'd always loved music in general, but ever since losing the use of her voice, she tended to go to the music store itself quite a bit more, having to rely on others' music instead of her own. Yes, she could play the piano very well, and enjoyed it very much, but it still wasn't the same as the old days.
Whenever Serena went to the music store, or anywhere really, she always brought a little notebook with her, along with something to write with. As nice as it would be for everyone in the world to understand sign language, it was not a practical thing to assume, and so she always brought those things so that she could still communicate with people.
There was one person at the music store that Serena particularly enjoyed communicating with- Lark. Lark enjoyed music very much as well- well of course she did, she worked at a music store after all- and they spent ample time together in Lark's workplace. Lark was such a nice person that Serena loved being around her. And today, of course, Rena found Lark exactly where she thought she might. As per usual, the cheerful atmosphere of the place couldn't help but make Rena smile, and when Lark saw her and approached her to say hello, Rena grinned back at her friend. She shrugged her shoulders when Lark asked what she was there for, however. Rena usually came in to buy some sheet music for her piano as she always flew through it much like a bookworm would fly through library books. She sometimes came in with a specific type of music in mind, and other times she just browsed and sat around, enjoying the atmosphere. Today, it seemed, would be one of those days. [[ ooc: oh my gosh, i'm sorry it's so short e_e it looked sooo much longer when I was writing it. xD ]]

It was not always easy communicating with someone who could not speak; perhaps if Lark had not been accustomed to Samson in the past this would have been a bit of culture shock for her, something that made her nervous or uneasy. She briefly wondered where the Thunder was now, and how he was doing. He was one of her closest friends on the opposite alliance and she had abandoned him to be with other people. A sharp pang of guilt stung her heart, but Lark did not allow it to linger for long. There was nothing that could be done now. The smile on her friend's face was consoling at least. She gestured to one of the seats nearby after Serena shrugged. They could at least keep one another company if nothing else. Lark did not mind that in the least, considering organizing CD's and re-labeling string sizes could be taxing and repetitive. The Water student might not have been able to talk but her presence was nice to have.
"So are you just going to linger around today?" Lark asked, being sure to turn to her friend shortly after asking so she would not miss the response. Over time she was slowly learning a bit of sign language, but probably not as much as she should. Samson used his phone to communicate, writing out text messages and flashing them to whomever he was chatting with. It felt like a normal conversation to Lark even if she was the only one actually speaking. "We have some new books with piano sheet music that came in a few days ago, and of course I just brought in a new batch of CD's yesterday." Some of them had been ordered upon her recommendation to see how well customers responded to a little extra variety. A lot of people did not buy CD's anymore but some enjoyed having the albums with the nice covers. A sort of hard copy as opposed to trusting your iTunes to take care of everything for you. Lark liked both options, especially if you were only interested in one particular song and not the entire album.
Not quite sure what Serena would be interested in talking about, Lark gave herself a few moments of silence to come up with something to say. She was not always proficient at starting up conversation or creating interesting topics considering she was not always one for babbling for hours on end, she wanted to try and come up with something Serena could jump in on. "So, how is school? Life?" She finally asked, feeling that it was an easy topic to discuss since both of them went to school and they both had lives. Music was easy to talk about but she also did not want people to think that that was her only source of conversation.
[XD It's okay! No worries. <3]
