CLOTHING STYLE Normally she opts for dresses; black is a must in her wardrobe because she knows it looks good. Colour also works, but she is selective about certain shades. In short, she knows how to dress herself. And she isn't the kind of girl who just sticks to dresses. Skinny jeans and slightly loose fitting shirts are another essential in her wardrobe, especially on days where she wants something more casual. PS: there's nothing wrong with denim shorts.

MOTHER Abella Lucia Monae (45), School teacher.
FATHER Dion Elliot Monae (49), Businessman; Art Dealer.
SIBLINGS Aimeri Elliot Monae (18), Student. Carmen Abella Serrano (26), Sister.
OTHER Gabrielle Valentia Serrano (5), Niece.
HISTORY
Dion met his unlikely match Abella by chance one day when she literally stumbled into him on the sidewalk. The Spanish-born and raised woman had always assumed she would fall for and marry someone with the same culture that she had. So when she learned that Dion and his family were very much born and raised French descendants, she had to simply adjust her lifelong so their differences could fit together. The culture difference eventually blended into a learning experience for the two of them. That and their different lifestyles; Dion was an aristocratic individual known for his explosive attitude and Abella was far more humble and down to Earth within the working class world. Despite the fact that he earned enough money for them both (and then some), she continued to work. That was, until she had her first child.
One difficult thing with the bi-cultural family was the naming of their children. He wanted French names, and she wanted Spanish. So they struck a compromising deal; she would name the girls and he would name the boys.
The Monae family's set of children started with their first daughter Carmen. Both their mother and father had always wanted a larger family, so one child was never going to be enough for them. However it was still years before they had Aimeri. Abella became very much a home body for her children, and she loved to be able to do that. Valentia was born less than a year after Aimeri and they decided then that their family was complete.
Since birth in their home they spoke three languages; Spanish, French and English. More to the point, Spanish was taught to them by their mother in lessons as well as free-speaking, and they started picking up French by their father whenever he spoke it around the house. He often spent time overseas but the closely-knit family were always in contact. And the family ideals became very important to them all. Feeling an overwhelming sense of protection was a must; huge hearts, lots of love and extensively dinner tables at every holiday.
Valentia was the baby when growing up with her siblings. They looked after her intensely as if she were made of glass, and while she appreciated it she still didn't really like it. Even as she grew up and became old enough to really look after herself they would still worry. Baby Sister Syndrome, she called it: she could grow older, but she would always be the youngest.
As a child she was relieved and excited for the latest addition to the family. Carmen fell pregnant to her then-boyfriend, now husband at the age of twenty. It meant that Val was only twelve when the baby was born, and if nothing else it confused her that she was somehow an Aunt. However, it also meant that she was no longer the baby of the growing family, and this thought was something she always held onto whenever it was brought up.
The connection to thunder became a family tradition when their first child was old enough to realise what it was. For Valentia, being the youngest meant she knew what she was in for and by the time it came around as a useful ability, she knew as much as anyone possibly could about what to expect. It was still a shock (heh) when it happened and she finally got in tune with the power, but Aimeri had only achieved the connection with thunder two months prior. So for the most part, they were able to go through it together. And they were able to go to school and study together to attempt master the skill as well.
Aimeri seemed to know what he wanted to do with his life. He seemed very interested in their father's work, and Valentia envied him for his drive. She was very much a creative individual who preferred focusing on that than anything else. But the drive to figure out what she wanted to do with her life was lacking, and had been for some time. This is an issue she has still not dealt with.
The worst memory Val had to offer was in 2011 when her sister got in a car accident. It wasn't her fault by any means, but the growing family didn't know how to experience even the possibility of death. Knowing she was being put in a medically induced coma was supposed to be comforting, but it took longer than expected for her to actually wake up from it. The rest of the family had stepped in to help raise Gabriella and keep her husband from falling apart through the ordeal. It was a bad memory, yes. But it was also an important experience in the family. It somehow brought them closer together, if that were even achievable. Beyond that Valentia had a pretty regular life with little to no drama. At least, no life altering drama that would be worth mentioning. Life had always been good to her and her family.

SECRET WORD Correct
RP SAMPLEIt was the first time he had noticed her.
Carter often met with people in the student lounge. It had a pool table, and he liked that. The cleanly dressed boy with the perfect hair and amused grin perched himself against the line of the wood. Cue in hand, he'd thrown his head back in a laugh at something that was said. In a flourished movement he turned on a heel, tossing and catching the pool cue more towards its base. He held it much like a sword, swinging it idly over the top of the game to point towards the recipient of the match.
"Fencing is harder than it looks," He contested, "Dom just likes to cheat."
Picking up the chalk, he brought the cue back to his person and dusted off the tip a few times. He turned to the side to flick the excess away when he saw someone;
Staring at the window? Watching the cool lines run down the cooler glass? Perhaps she was upset about the rain as so many were. Water made the ground less durable and Carter liked it more when it had its strength. The slightest inclination in those seconds asked him what he wanted to do; he could drop his turn, forfeit the game and ask her if she was upset about something.
But it was hit shot.
The blonde boy turns his back on her again after those precious seconds, intent on winning the game he had struck up with his opponent. He did so hate to lose.
