Caleb Wright flopped back in his seat with a sigh and ran his hands through his hair. Groaning, he rubbing the palms of his hands roughly over his eyes. This wasn't working... It really wasn't. He needed to get this essay finished today but... Everyone had already taken out the books that he needed for it, so he was stuck trying to scavenge scraps of information of out every other book he could get his hands on, and it was a very slow and frustrating procedure.
For several minutes Caleb just sat back in his seat with one hand grabbed in his hair, and he breathed deeply, trying to chill out for a minute. He really wanted to get out of here, but he knew that if he left he'd never make it back, and then this essay would never get finished. There really wasn't anyone stopping him though...escape from the library was completely in his hands. Quickly gathering up his things into his back back, Caleb booked it out of the library.
So now, Caleb was walking through one of the vast hallways aimlessly, thinking of anything from his favorite foods to the thought of going for a midnight jog. He had nothing to do, which made him rather bored. When in such situations, Caleb usually took to walking around the outdoor until he thought of something that he could do or at least find someone he could be bored with, but before that happened he would always let his mind wander as far as it could go. It was more interesting that way, and it helped him to remember things he normally wouldn't have thought of.
Before he had decided to wander about, Caleb had been attempting to study. Despite being into the physical work that came with being a Water Elemental, he had always been a procrastinator, which led him to do most of his written assignments at the last minute. The studying he had been doing was not at the last minute however, which led to Caleb's lack of focus and eventual boredom. And so, he wandered.

It was so loud. Kai had been finishing up a paper in his dorm room and was glad to have finally finished it and placed the books back into his bag. He'd return them to the library later. First he wanted to do some practicing on his violin. He grabbed his violin case which the last gift his father had given him before he had passed away. That was when his roommates made their entrance. Now the room was no use. He gave them a greeting and told them he'd be out for a while. He knew the common room would be no good either so he decided it be better to just go find some other place to practice. He grabbed his violin and bag and left the wind dormitories. He walked down the steps since the wind dormitories was located in one of the towers of the castle. He first had to decide where to go. There was the bell tower. No, the bell tower usually had people around this time. Perhaps Kai would have better luck in the music room. Classes were done so there wouldn't be anyone there unless there some extra practices for something. In the end that was where Kai was headed and was there in no time. He turned into an empty hall way until he reached the door that led to one of the music rooms. He peaked his head inside and found no one. Bingo. He walked inside and closed the door quietly behind him. He placed his violin case gently on one of the tables alongside his bag. First he went to open one of the windows. There was a light breeze and with his powers he made the wind pick up speed just a bit. The wind hit him and traveled through his hair into the room. He smiled, it tickled a bit. After another few seconds the wind died down to its original speed and Kai focused back on the room. He liked to feel the wind when he practiced. Kai liked to think that when he played his music was carried on the wind up to where his father could listen. Kind of crazy but Kai didn't care. Kai connected his ipod to one of the speakers and then went to get his violin. He carefully opened the case, revealing a beautifully carved and constructed brown mahogany violin. He carefully took it out and the bow and walked back to the speakers. He pressed play on his ipod and listened as the music started. The notes traveling across the room. He placed the violin in it's position as his entrance neared and then he was off. The song was 21 Guns by Green Day. Although he played a lot of classical he liked to play modern day music every now and then. He got lost in the music, oblivious to the world and anyone listening in.

Mid-day and nothing to do. Caleb was sure he would die of boredom. He almost wanted to die of boredom. He could, of course, turn back now and go do his homework, but that would be giving in to the boredom. He wasn’t ready to admit defeat yet. He had hoped an aimless roamed through the hallways greeting passerby and whistling away would have inspired something genius to do. Something to keep his mind off of places he really didn’t feel like visiting yet.
With the way he was shuffling through he was sure you could hear him coming a mile away. Not that he was worried about it. He was accustomed to the odd stares he got from the not so nice fire elementals, and he had a feeling most of those who had known him were used to it to. The older students merely nodded to him as he passed by, but the younger students looked puzzled, and a little concerned, bringing a bright grin to his face. Honestly, people needed to lighten up around here.
He paused, recognizing a faint sound coming from behind one of the closed doors. His grin widened as he put the pieces together. This time he was careful to remain silent before gently opening the door now before him. Caleb peered through the crack of the door, eyes wide at his new discovery, the boy smiled. Maybe an afternoon wandering the halls hadn't been such a bad idea. Better then wasting away the day in the library.
The boy stopped momentarily, taking in the sight of the other student fiddling away on what seemed to be a rather nice instrument. Looked like one of those string ones all the stuffy folks like to play in orchestras. Violins or cellos, he never knew the difference. This tune though, Caleb definitely thought he knew the song. It didn't have the same ring to it like all those dead German composers music had going for it. As Caleb pushed the door open more, it let out a loud creak. Immediately Caleb froze, staring wide eyed and teeth clenched towards the musician. It was as if Caleb was holding his breath and praying to be invisible at the moment. "Whoops..." he said sheepishly.

When Kai played he got lost in the music. It was like he would create a bubble separating himself from the real word and all that was left was him with his music. He was oblivious to the world around him. The music coming from the speakers wasn't blasting away. It was only loud enough that he could follow it and be able to make out his own notes and playing. If there was ever a time a sneak attack was perfect against Kai it would be now, when he was playing the violin or even the piano. The cello was a bit easier to get distracted from since he was still learning that one but he was getting there. The music was in his blood so he believed he'd have it down in no time.
The song was hitting the bridge and Kai really got into it. Some would question why he played this kind of music but Kai liked to branch out into different genres and not just stick to the same old Beethoven and Back music that he was always playing. Not that he didn't enjoy playing it but sometimes you needed to a little variety. Wouldn't want to get tired of playing. The second chorus, the big build up. It was nearing the end of the song and Kai was on time. At least he was until a loud creak from behind him startled him. He slightly jumped and turned around to see what had been able to interrupt him. A boy, around the same age as himself by the looks of it was standing frozen at the door.
Kai stopped the music from the speakers before turning his attention back to the boy. "Not wise to sneak up on people." he said with a light smile. "How long were you standing there?" he asked curiously in a polite voice. For all he knew this boy had been there the entire time without Kai realizing it. It wasn't like Kai always practiced in private. Sometimes Emmett or even Isabella would on occasion listen to him. Isabella loved it. It was just that he was startled and he didn't really like being startled or sneaked upon.

"Sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt. I'm sorry" Caleb held up his hands in mock surrender and watched as the door continue to swing open now that he wasn't holding on. The screech echoed through the now quiet room and Caleb hung his head in defeat for a moment. Really? As if he didn't feel bad enough. "I was just bored and walking in the hallway and then all of a sudden I heard this music and I couldn't just walk away without at least stopping-" Caleb could hear himself rambling on and on so he forced his mouth shut.
How long had he been there? Crap. Caleb only vaguely knew what the other boy had been playing and knew nothing about formal elements in music. He would just have to wing it and hope the ither kid got what he was saying. ”Uhh…You were at this part and it was like nah-na-na-na-nah” Caleb desperately tried to copy the hand motions that the other boy was doing, but he just probably looked like some over zealous idiot. ”And then you were na-nah-na-nana-nah.” He brought his hands back to his sides. Wither he looked like an idiot or not was no concern to Caleb. It took a lot for him to get embarrassed or worked up about his ‘image’ so he naturally tended to just be himself regardless of what he peers may or may not think. Let them laugh behind his back or in his face. Caleb enjoyed life far too much to be caught up in something so trivial as image.
"I mean you sounded a lot better than that," he explained. Caleb had already surprised the guy and forced him to stop playing. he didn't want him to now think he was mocking him in anyway. "I'm Caleb Wright by the way." He crossed the room and held out his hand towards the musician in greetings.

Kai chuckled a bit. "It's quite alright. I at least hope you enjoyed the music." This wasn't the first time Kai had been interrupted during a practice. Although it wasn't something that happened often he didn't mind it. Of course sometimes he'd have unexpected listeners but again he didn't mind that either. If someone happened to be walking by and enjoyed what they were hearing then by all means enjoy it. Of course Kai knew that there were many musicians who got very upset when they were interrupted during a practice of some kind but Kai wasn't like that. He wasn't like that. Kai may be one that grew anxious if say he was practicing for a big performance or something and if he was constantly being interrupted then perhaps he'd grow a bit agitated but on a regular basis it wasn't a problem.
Kai found the boy amusing. Kai didn't mind the rambling. Kai was known to do so also, especially if he was nervous. He knew a few people like that too. It wasn't a terrible trait. Some people found it amusing or adorable. Some of course found it annoying. He was surprised that Emmett didn't zap him more often for it. Then again both he and Emmett had come to learn and get used to each other's quirks. Kai's eyebrow rose a bit when Caleb started to try and explain how long he had been listening. He couldn't help but smile. He was amused by it. He chuckled a bit, not in making fun of Caleb though. He'd wouldn't do that, especially to someone he just met. "Well, thank you. I tend to branch out from the classics at times." Kai loved playing his classical music. It was what he was raised and first taught on but every now and then he'll test his toes in more contemporary and modern pieces.
Kai took Caleb's hand in his in a firm but gentle handshake. "Pleasure. Kai Jackson." he said kindly. Kai was among the group of winds that were very friendly and outgoing. "And if I may be so bold to go out on a limb I'd guess you were either an earth or water. Fires and thunders aren't normally this nice off the bat and I'm pretty sure I would have seen you around the wind dormitories. Even if we aren't the most tight knit group."
