BEST MEMORY When Elise was fourteen a short story that she had written about a widower and his thoughts as he contemplated suicide was published in a magazine. She had never really made an accomplishment of that magnitude, and has not since, and can't recall a time where she had been more proud of herself when she finally had the published piece in her hands, knowing that other people had seen it, too.
WORST MEMORY When she was twelve and out shopping with her mother in a mall, a storm knocked out the power. Normally, this might not have been a problem, only at that moment they had been in an elevator and got stuck. Elise suffered a panic attack owing to her fear of enclosed places and her mother was only barely able to talk her down. The power was restored after half an hour, but to Elise it might as well have been days. The incident permanently scarred her, and to this day she refuses to take elevators, no matter how many floors she needs to go up.
LONG-TERM GOAL Elise wants to one day travel the world alongside someone she cares for, whether it's a close friend or a lover doesn't matter to her.

MOTHER Gretta Von Beyer, 46, freelance photographer
FATHER Fritz Von Beyer, 48, pharmaceutical salesman
SIBLINGS Matthias Von Beyer, 20, college student
OTHER N/A
HISTORY Fritz and Gretta married young in their native Berlin, and not too long afterward found out that Gretta would probably never be able to have children. Crushed, the two instead focused on their careers, only to be taken by surprise by the birth of their son, whom they named Matthias. Fortune struck yet again four years later when Elise was born. She had a mostly average childhood growing up in the heart of Berlin, though to an outsider, her youth might have appeared extraordinary. Both her parents had elemental abilities, her father a manipulator of wind, her mother earth. And they were convinced that both their children would also develop abilities.
Elise watched as her older brother's powers began to manifest, he became a controller of earth like their mother, and she became increasingly more excited to get her own. Though she still had time before that would happen, if at all, and was stuck leading a life of an average person. Elise's childhood remained mostly unremarkable, though everything was seemingly turned on its head when a career change relocated their family to Canada when she was ten. Although she knew a good amount of English, there was still quite the culture shock.
She didn't quite know how to make friends in a new country, and thus became known as the quiet, awkward one. It was a roll that Elise came to fill well, and actually became comfortable on the outer edges of the social structure. It took her a while to settle into a routine, one that had barely been established before another lifestyle change was dropped on her, that being starting the academy when she was thirteen. Elise had a hard time fitting in yet again as the cliques formed and alliances established, whereas she joined the ranks of the wind manipulators.
And everything about this new school seemed so difficult, and for someone like Elise who had only ever struggled in math, it was a bitter pill to swallow. Freshman year was difficult for her, not only academically, but in figuring out the basics of her powers. Though things thankfully became a bit easier as she progressed, though socially she remained as awkward and isolated as ever. Elise has settled back into her standard routine of nothing extraordinary, but it looking forward to moving on to college to further hone her skills.

RP SAMPLEAs terribly clichéd as it may sound, Gage hadn't really known what a proper family Christmas looked like until that year. His parents had been just as indifferent about him during the holidays as they were the rest of the year, only giving him presents because it was the socially acceptable thing to do, not because they ever wanted to. But here at Emily's place, the holidays were wonderful. His fiancee (Gage still often had to remind himself to use the term in place of "girlfriend") and her mother made absolutely wonderful food, there was pleasant conversation, a certain coziness to the house, and a general sense of belonging.
All the warm fuzzy stuff that Gage had previously thought to be fictional; what authors wrote about to make people smile, the things that the films and television programmes showed. He currently sat in the Bakers' living room, occupying the corner cushion whilst his future in-laws took up the other side. Emily had insisted on cleaning up after dinner on her own, telling them to sit down and enjoy the film. Gage wouldn't have minded helping, he had almost suggested magic, as Emily was of age, though he hadn't seen the point in arguing with her about it.
Back in the battle, Gage hadn't even known if they would make it to Christmas. But they had, they had made it out of that and were going to have their lives to spend together. The thought made him smile. Deciding he would go check on Emily, he politely excused himself and went in the kitchen, immediately being told what he should be doing. "I know," said Gage, putting his hands on her hips and lightly tugging her closer to him. He smiled before dropping a gentle kiss on her lips.
