Usually my posts are longer but I’ve been doing a few openers so yeah. Hope it’s okay. The fire dormitory was Samuel’s favourite place in the whole wide world. He’d never felt more at home than when he was surrounded by his element, the heat radiating from the walls and ceiling empowering him, making him feel as though each breath he breathed was like his first. He had theories about the dorm and how it affected him; most of his friends were fire students, and he was always so much calmer when he was in the dormitory, in fact he rarely caused many arguments in here unless someone deserved them. Outside the dormitory it was like he was constantly irritated by people. The other elements violated his senses, sending shivers down his spine, making him uncomfortable, and then they’d speak or rather exist. Samuel was only seventeen, he couldn’t control the aggression that they created within him and so he had to let it go, usually violently. The dormitory was a completely different atmosphere and he was quite sure that it had been purposefully created that way, in particular to accommodate the rivalry between the elements. That worked out fine by itself anyway, he knew that for as long he would live, he would never befriend an Earth or Water elemental. It was a statement that Samuel believed strongly in and one he hoped to abide by. The outcasts disgusted him, how they could see any good in their enemies perhaps only signified that they weren’t good fire elementals anyway, they should be with the scum. Nonetheless Samuel wouldn’t let that bother him, as he sprawled out across a well-used sofa in front of a large blooming fireplace.
He watched the flames flicker brightly as though they were chasing each other, a smile flirting on his lips. Sammy really enjoyed the simplicity of fire, in fact the simplicity of all of the elements in their purest form, but fire was the one that mesmerised him. There was just something so exhilarating about the dancing flames and the changing colours, he was constantly amazed at how bright something so natural could be, and how destructive. He stretched his arms and legs out, arching his back like a sleepy cat, as he settled back into the couch, feeling kind of infinite. It had been a long while since Samuel had ever felt so settled or comfortable; he’d finished all of his homework, he didn’t have any slowly recovering cuts or bruises and he had the entire evening to do as he wished. Originally he’d been thinking about maybe going on a run but upon entering the common room he’d lost any inclination. He pulled his legs up and curled into a small ball, his fingertips meeting each other in a gentle clasp as they hugged his knees in close to his stomach. He was snug in a pair of shorts and oversized hoody, swallowing him up. The dorms were perfect for that reason too, he could wear anything he wanted and not have to worry about whether it was cool or not. The fire elementals certainly got to see a side of Sammy that most people didn’t, the relaxed Samuel who enjoyed snuggling with himself by the fire. Of course as soon as anybody spoke to him he’d be back to his confident, mocking self but even still he’d have a grace of comfort about him that he lacked in the corridors.

Karlee had been making a pretty decent effort to actually go to class. She had failed last year - hence why she was in the eleventh grade again. Being 18 and only in the eleventh grade was a bit of an ego drain, but it was alright. She accepted it. It just meant she actually had to go to class from now on - which was what she was doing. She hadn't realized before how much energy actually got drained from you when you went to class, though. It was a buzz kill, for sure. But she enjoyed spending time alone, usually hanging out by the fire. It was only natural that she was a little pyro. What of the fire students weren't, though? She was terrified to death of water though. No, not like showers, but a large, open, body of water - or even a pool for that matter, could send her into panic attacks. It really wasn't a pretty site.
But she decided to head down to the common room this evening. There was a lot on her mind of events from previous weeks, but she let them drain. She didn't like talking about her thoughts, problems, or feelings, really with anybody except for Asher. He really was her best friend and the only person that he felt he could tell anything. Which she did, and sometimes it could be close to reveling things that she didn't tell anybody. Asher, however, she trusted more than anybody she had ever met. Even her parents. But if you really knew her, you would know she had a horrible relationship with her parents. It wasn't a pretty site.
She had changed into a pair of dark blue basketball shorts and a rather tight fitting black tank top, and her long, straight hair was still down. She rarely ever tied it up because she found the hair bands uncomfortable. She sighed a little as she made her way over towards the fire place, not really expecting anybody else to be there. But alas - there was somebody. Her friend, Samuel, was lounging on one of the couches looking rather transfixed by the flames. "Hey." She cooed, smiling at him before plopping down in one of the big, comfy, arm chairs that surrounded the fire as well. "What's up?" She said, looking at him for a minute, before turning her eyes back to the fire. The flames seemed to dance, it was almost beautiful. Hell, it really was beautiful. She felt blessed to be able to control such a lovely thing.

[/img] that planet earth turns slowly The Words: 655The Outfit: - The Notes Sorry, my post is a bit boring :’)
Sammy didn’t bother glancing up from his ball as he heard a person move about. He didn’t feel as defensive inside the common room as he did outside of it. There wasn’t really a place in the school where he’d lounge about and not bother looking to see if an enemy was on his back except maybe if he was with his friends; it was another perfect aspect about the common room. Sammy didn’t have as many fire enemies as he did of the other elements, and those that he did have he didn’t really fear an attack. Why would they start on him in the peace and comfort of the common room? It was a bizarre notion that his arrogance prevented him from foreseeing. Nonetheless today he was lucky, as it was his friend Karlee who was roaming about the common room, looking just as comfortable as he felt.
A smile broke out on his face as she watched her sit and look at the fire. He was pretty sure that fire could memorise every fire element and so it should, it was the most beautiful element there was and potentially one of the most classically destructive. But as Karlee watched the fire, Samuel watched Karlee. He really liked her, as a friend. He liked the fact that they hadn’t slept together even though he totally would, even though she was gorgeous. It was refreshing to have somebody in his life who he hadn’t seen naked. There was something pure about it, he wasn’t sure, he was just glad. Of course if Karlee were ever to come onto him, who would Sam be to say no? He wasn’t good at saying no to pretty girls, he probably had a problem but labels weren’t for elementals, no they were a lowly human thing. ”Not much,” he replied honestly, glancing back at the flickering flames. He kind of had the idea that if he ever really fell for a girl it would be sweet to make the fire dance for her, not a natural dance, a Sammy made dance, constructed just for her in some big romantic gesture. He didn’t really think about stuff like that much because he wasn’t really the commitment kind of guy. He had friends, and he had girls that he really liked and really cared about, and then he had girls that he just slept with, and then he had girls that he used. All of them would probably move onto a guy who was ready for commitment but Sammy was only seventeen, he had plenty of time for that.
He glanced back at Karlee thoughtfully. It was weird that she wasn’t in his classes anymore, somewhat startling to know that she failed it. Sammy never paid much attention to the grades that other people were receiving since he was so focused on getting the grades he needed, his parents settled for no less than A’s so the classroom environment was often one where he paid attention and actually tried to learn. Naturally most of his teachers didn’t appreciate this because they focused too much upon his personality but what could you do. ”How are you finding eleventh grade again?” he asked with a slight smirk as he released his legs, allowing them to fall back against the soft material. ”It must be pretty easy right, if you’re just repeating everything?” he enquired. He was trying to be encouraging but he was better at playing the joker. He found it hard not to smile or say something potentially insulting but girls were more sensitive than boys, the things that he could say to Andrew a girl would probably find insulting, and truth be told Sammy did care about his friends. The atmosphere of the common room was relaxing, causing Sammy not to feel the need to fill in the silences. It was nice just to listen to the fire crackling away. Karlee had a bit of a reputation at the academy. Everybody knew it, for the most part. It usually only happened when she was drunk, though. Or sometimes being high effected that. She was backing off all that stuff though. Mostly because she actually wanted to graduate someday. She hadn't really been partying as much either since she got with Emmett. Well, at least she thought they where dating. She wasn't sure how he felt about, though. In her mind, they where dating. It was actually weird for her though, since she hadn't ever had a boyfriend. It was all one night stands and fuck buddies for her. Saying - or rather, thinking - that she had a boyfriend, was a whole nother story.
She enjoyed having mutual friends that where just that - friends. She didn't have a whole lot of friends, probably because for the most part she could be an arrogant sarcastic bitch. But she was the kind of person that once you got her trust - you had it for good. She doesn't lie to those she cares about, and she's more loyal than just about anybody. Her friends are the most important thing in her life, and when somebody screws that up - they have one angry little fiery bitch on their hands. "Damn, that sounds fun." She replied, smirking at him a little. Yeah she was sarcastic, but that wasn't ever going to change. Her friends just knew how to differentiate between her rude sarcasm and her nice sarcasm.
Karlee didn't really have parents around to help her out through school. She had to motivate herself to do it. And well, quite frankly, she had no motivation. She had Sammy in classes all through the years, but this year she wouldn't. She was finding herself with a whole new crowd of people. She didn't mind some of the younger people, but all of her close friends where moving on without her. Asher was a twelfth grader now. Sammy was a twelfth grader now. At least she was in the same grade as Emmett now, but that didn't change the fact that she wanted to be with her other friends, too. "Oh it's just a fucking riot. It's like one giant party every single day." She said, trying to keep her face serious for a moment before rolling her eyes. "But no seriously, it's not a lot of fun." She said, laughing dryly. "Well.. it might be easy if, you know. I had actually been awake and sober during class last year." She laughed a little more genuinly this time and ran her fingers through her hair. She moved a little bit and put her legs up over the arm of the chair, and leaned back across the other arm. It was more comfortable, and easier to face the fire and also be able to look at Sammy this way. "What about you? Getting excited about graduation yet?" She said, glancing over at him with a smile.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] that planet earth turns slowly The Words: 886 The Outfit: clothes The Notes The first part of this was written with an aching, painful sprained wrist… the second half of this was written with an infection. Sorry if it sucks and sorry for taking so long to reply.
Sammy smiled at her sarcastic remark. He didn’t want to explain it to Karlee but he was having fun. It was true that Samuel enjoyed a lot of his life, the way he was kept so busy with school work and his social life, it was an exciting roller coaster that often left him exhausted in the night, but sometimes he just burnt out. Sometimes it was good to have nothing to do and to be able to relax without the pressure or desire to go over another math paper or reread a book or poem for English. Samuel put his all into everything he did so with that he enjoyed his downtime. It was pretty amazing to be able to shut his eyes for a few minutes without blinking or sleeping, to just relax. He supposed that probably made him sound old, liking his naps and animal like poses but whatever, work hard, play hard, sleep hard, plus he did have a big hiking trip coming up over the weekend with his family, he needed to relax for that. His family were overachievers, they thrived on challenges but what were challenges to his parents were impossibilities to Sammy. He often complained that he had shorter legs than they had, so that meant he had to walk twice as fast and take twice as many strides just to keep up the pace, but his parents didn’t listen to excuses, they only saw failures. Nonetheless Sammy did love the family hiking trips even if he slept for about a day afterwards; it was a chance to be a Brenston, to spend time with his parents and his elder brother, to really feel like he belonged somewhere.
He was kind of curious to hear about how she was doing now with her classes however, curious enough for it to disturb his relaxation. He was almost curious as he was as tempted to ask if she needed any tutoring. He had this loyalty thing going on with his friends, loyalty to the point of taking a bullet and loyalty to the point of helping them, although his loyalty struck thin when it came to reliability. Tutoring her was probably a commitment that Sammy wouldn’t keep; he had a duty to focus upon his current classwork and achieve greatly as opposed to looking backward. ”I thought it might be, there’s nothing as orgasmic as eleventh grade chemistry, but it was calculus that really got me off.” he said, nodding casually as a grin broke out on his face. Samuel loved to smile, he wouldn’t describe himself as a particularly happy person inside but smiling was generally his set face. He smiled when he was asking questions in classes, a curious, yearning smile as he breathed in the knowledge, eyes wide and absorbing. Samuel also smiled when he was teasing people, one of his favourite past times, although this smile was usually something along the lines of a smirk or something equally as menacing. But mostly he just smiled when he was around his friends, when he was relaxed or excited about something or someone. ”I still have my notes from last year if you want them?” Sam offered, one of the rare kind gestures that he probably would follow through with if he remembered. He rolled over on his front and rested upon his elbows, hoisting his body up as he watched Karlee. Doing badly in classes was something that Samuel actually did have trouble registering with, it was so unnatural to him, the worst he’d ever done was get a B. He sometimes thought that people failed on purpose because nobody could lack the mental capacity to get above a C, it was just too easy. Sometimes he’d talk about this with his family or his friends but he wasn’t a complete pig, he was wise enough that calling Karlee stupid would only result in a slap and his quiet time interrupted quite crudely. Anyway, with Karlee he was sure she failed on purpose, maybe not consciously but on some subconscious level she wanted to fail, you just wouldn’t attend a class drunk if you didn’t.
He bit on his lip as she asked about himself. It was a curious question and one that he hadn’t quite decided on. He was excited to go to college but also a little nervous, especially with the added pressure of living up to his brother’s reputation. He also had to live up to his brother’s progress by the end of the school year so that too added pressure on him. He looked curiously at Karlee, and shrugged a little. ”Kind of… I think maybe I’d like another year here though. I don’t think people will put up with me as much in college as they do here, everyone’ll be mature and boring and slap me if I don’t call them or slap me if I do call them.” He answered honestly, knowing that more people than not hated him. It was easy to hold at this kind of school when you walked around like you own it, but he didn’t want to be one of those guys who peaked in high school and then spent the rest of his years getting pushed around by people who didn’t let him push them around.

Karlee was actually pretty upset that she wouldn't be graduating with most of her friends. Asher, Sammy.. and a good majority of the people she was actually close to where going to be graduating this year. She was going to be graduating with a group of people she didn't know that well. A few of them she did. But she was determined to actually graduate that year - she didn't want to get too far behind. The partying and drinking where going to have to slow down a bit - which was probably good anyways. She was pretty sure her liver would appreciate it. But her classes where probably going to be a little bit easier this year, since she did retain some of the information. Her teachers didn't seem too thrilled to have her back, though. She couldn't help but laugh at his comment. " Oh yeah, that calculus. Does things to people." She said, smiling at him and nodding a little bit. She hated chemistry and calculous - but oh well. English and Art where her true loves. Though she wouldn't admit that outloud.
As far as everybody knew, she was a bad ass, pretty much. But she loved poetry. That was the only class she had actually passed. Well, that and her drawing class. But she still had to repeate 11th grade english - since she had overall failed the year. She would start showing up to her classes, sober anyways. She had motivation now. she didn't want to stay in this school forever. She wasn't sure she was going to go to college, mostly because she didn't have the money. She didn't see a problem with that, though. Not everybody had to, right? "God, you would be my life saver Sam." She said, blinking a few times. "I would love you for ever." Which was the truth. She would feel like she owed him big time though. Cheating her way through school was okay.
Karlee didn't think she was stupid. In fact, she knew she wasn't. She was very clever, and she knew that. she just didn't show it that often. She didn't like to try and fit the stereotype just because she was blonde. It wasn't even her natural hair color. Well, not the platinum blonde that she had. She naturally had dirty blonde hair, but had dyed it lighter and put the black in it years back. Karlee laughed a little bit and nodded her head. "Yeah I guess that's a good point. You can just be like me, and fail all your classes, and get another year here. We can be super seniors together." She smiled at him a little bit, before laughing. She really didn't wish to drag anybody down with her. "And for the record, I won't slap you if you call me." She said, honestly. Obviously, she wasn't going to slap her friend for calling her. That would be stupid. "We should go do something. Cause some trouble somewhere." She said, smirking at him a little bit before standing up. "Come, minion. Let's explore."
