HISTORY
Born in Maple Hollow to two very hard-working parents. When Neelam came into the world she already had an older brother and sister. It wouldn't be later until her baby sister Arianna was born. Leena and Amir are basically kind people who tried their to instill nothing but greatness into their children. Growing up Neelam lived a charmed life, she never knew anything close to poverty and had a warm, loving home with normal sibling rivalries and happy dinners. Neelam was never just 'given' things though. Since she was little her and her siblings 'earned' what they wanted. She swears by this parenting method her parents used nowadays, saying it molded her into the (mostly) responsible adult she was today. They say they raised her to be the way she was because mistakes weren't really an option for elementals. One screw up, and it could ruin everything. That was always drilled into her head. Discretion became her middle name when it came to her powers.
As a child it was always getting honor role and completing her chores, and as she got older her tasks grew and Neelam matured quickly to adapt to responsibility. It was always so obvious though that she was striving for perfection, and it was unhealthy. Her friends and siblings tried to help her ease up and relax, take like a little less seriously. And that is exactly what she did. In her senior year at the academy Neelam let out all those bottled up teenage hormones. She went to parties and drank until the nights were black. Danced until she couldn't think. Now, Neelam always seemed to be out with friends who kept her from going home with strangers
But there was one night. A night when she decided to go out alone. She didn't need some baby sitter, she was seventeen years old, the world was her oyster! So one weekend she went out to Club Corrosion with a fake that she got online. And that night, Neelam drank faster than she should have and accepted a drink from one to many people, so before she knew it her vision was going blurry. Neelam danced and enjoyed herself but ended up getting kicked out of the club because she couldn't even stand up straight. Walking out of the sketchy building others followed, of course. If it wasn't for another academy member recognizing her make a fool out of herself at the club, recording it, and posting it to Facebook then she might not have ever gotten home. It was a bit of a double sided sword.
Her sister and one of Neelam's best friends drove down to Club Corrosion as fast as they could to find her, but saw Neelam passed out on a bench before they even reached the club. Her sister and friend got her in the car and home safe enough, but Neelam's parent's always treated her a twinge different. Like she wasn't capable of ever being their responsible girl ever again. She would be the child they had that messed up her senior year of high school.
In college Neelam cleaned up her act significantly, threw herself into studies once more, it took her time to adjust to a decent middle ground between wild, crazy, seductive Neelam and over-controlled, anxious Neelam. After completing her studies with incredible ease in the science department Neelam spent a year over seas in India and England with her family. It was an adventure that she often looks back on when times seem boring and dull. It was when she came back that she applied to become a teacher at the academy she had grown to love when she was a student, with the few friends she had become relatively close to. Now Neelam has been working at the academy for almost two years and is loving her job. Though she says the students get under her skin (which they most certainly do) she is overall pleased with a job that keeps her so busy grading papers, looking after after-school sessions and such that it keeps her from realizing how dull she is letting her life become. Her older brother had moved to Maine in America to become a writer, her sister was working with her father as a veterinarian, while her little sister was learning at the college.
And her? She was a high school teacher. And that was pretty much it. This year though, she has made a mental promise to let some slack in the rope, the last time she got crazy blackout drunk was when she was still a child. Neelam can handle herself now. She's sure of it.

SECRET WORD correct
RP SAMPLEThere's snow, there's rain, and then there's that mix of the two. The slosh that is this disgusting, muddy, half-melted version of snow. Which, of course, is abundant in winter. It was always in London as well as little Evergreen. Now, Neelam didn't hate the snow, but it was far from her favorite form of weather. And honestly it wasn't the cold that became bothersome. It was the fact that you will always get wet and cold.
That didn't matter much though, because Neil had been at work for most of the morning. A few regular appointments and one root canal. Those were always fun... But now it was almost noon and she had plans. Just the other day Neelam had peeked into her e-mail to see that The Vow had sent her a match. A Dr. Asher Knox. And today they had decided to meet at Shatter's cafe for lunch. She originally hadn't planned to be able to stay too long, because of work, but when she went in that morning and started talking to everyone about her lunch date and the fact that The Vow had sent over her match, they all insisted that she take the rest of the day off. He was to be her future husband after all. If she wasn't going to take a break now, then when? Neelam knew that she didn't really need to work, it just seemed unfair to her to leave the office when she was really starting to get the hang of things. She would become successful, and she wouldn't settle for anything less. Perhaps Neil wouldn't gain the same name and fame as her architect father had, but she was also a dentist. And there are reasons she changed her name, to break away from the social politics of the high and mighty magazine world as much as she could.
The bright red jeep grand cherokee pulled into the cafe's parking lot and fit into a parking spot near the side of Shatter's. Neil sat in her car for a moment and glanced at the clock. She was early, that's good. Neelam wasn't one to miss something or be late without a very good reason and a thousand apologies. Asher said noon, so it wasn't like she was arriving terribly early... just earlier than twelve. After a quick calming breath and a once over in the review mirror Neil hopped out of her car and strode into Shatter's. The slosh covered the ground in places, much of it had melted to muddy water though. She tugged at her blazer, and straightened herself up a bit once she stepped into the little building. Neil tended to dress in very classic styles, nothing that would make you wonder what it why on Earth someone would wear it. Classy and simple, but everything tended to lean toward very fine on the quality scale. The details are pointless to most people though. Her brown eyes searched the restaurant for a table near a window before Chris arrived. She didn't think to ask a waitress if he had already arrived or not.
The cafe wasn't overflowing with people like Starbucks or Coffebeans usually was, but there was a little lunch crowd. Neil managed to slip into a small table by a large window. The one chair opposite from her would be filled with Asher any moment now. There were so many things do discuss in such a small amount of time it felt like, when in reality they had a lifetime. "Alright. Now it's 11:47, so he has plenty of time." Neelam thought to herself after glancing at her watch. Her eyes quickly went to the window and she watched the outside world as cars sprayed muddy snow water about and a few people wandered around the streets. Some with groceries and places to be, others hand in hand enjoying one another's company.
A waitress popped up and asked Neelam what she wanted to drink, but Neelam simply replied, "Actually, I'm waiting for someone." She smiled at the girl and the waitress nodded. She'd be back when there were two. Neelam breathed deep, trying to slow her imagination from creating a thousand different personalities for Dr. Asher. She placed her hands in her lap, holding them there.
You can love the adventure of new things, but it's just idiotic to not have at least a small streak of uncertainty about the outcome. Who knows what will happen.
