Ethan found himself in an unusual place for him on a Saturday morning. For one, he was awake before noon on a weekend. And he was in the school itself. Ethan tried to avoid classrooms and any sort of learning when he wasn’t being forced into it. But this visit to the school on a weekend was completely voluntary and also completely necessary. After signing up to audition for a local youth performance of Grease, Ethan was excited to be involved in another show. As much as he tried to stay away from mainstream musicals, he couldn’t deny the itch he had to perform again. He’d been doing a lot of local, coffee-shop-type performances with his guitar, but he yearned to act again. Being enrolled in the Academy had deprived him of this, especially with the amount of work he had and how time always seemed to escape him. And even now, school had kept him occupied and prevented him from getting practice in before his audition. With his audition the following Monday, Ethan realized he needed to hunker down and perfect a song. He chose a song from the musical itself, “Sandy,” and knew it well enough before but not enough to audition with it. So, after pulling a few strings, he managed to get an empty classroom for himself this morning to practice. His room wouldn’t suffice because there was always someone around and he wanted complete privacy for this.
With his sheet music, he started singing. He wasn’t too worried about messing it up on Monday because he knew he’d do fine. Ethan wasn’t an arrogant person, but when it came to theater he tended to have an enlarged ego. Everything just came naturally to him with drama. So, there wasn’t much worry for him that he’d get a good role in this show, if not the lead. But Ethan also wasn’t one to go into an audition unprepared. Unlike school, Ethan really tried when it came to music and acting. He poured his soul into them and wasn’t one to give a mediocre performance.
When Ethan practiced, he went all out. Even though there were still a few people in the school, Ethan didn’t care that the volume of his singing was turned on full blast. He was always unabashed in general, but especially when it came to anything musically related. The whole reason of singing was to perform, so why did it matter if others heard him? He continued rehearsing the song, oblivious to the world around him, absorbed in his singing.

While Ethan may have avoided school on the weekends, Sachiele? She was there at the crack of dawn, reveling in the lack of chaos and politics and feuding and... well, all of the bullshit that got in the way of her studies. For all that she's a loyal member of her element, above all else? Her loyalty was to herself, and to the future that she was doing her damndest to build. Greatness took great effort, after all-- and if those idiots in the Water and Earth elements couldn't appreciate that, then she would take great pleasure in telling them to hold the salt on her fries on the rare occasion that she chose to go to McDonald's. It was a rather... cold way of looking at things for one of the fire element, but the brunette had always believed in having control of her emotions, of her studies-- of everything.
That was why she was in the classroom where her Calculus class was held, hunched over her desk as she worked her way through the extra credit problem that the teacher had given her the day before. Even though she was carrying a perfect one hundred percent in the class, she needed to be prepared in case she even had the tiniest slip-up... and besides, 'going the extra mile' looked good on her student file. Such accolades would be the difference between getting into Harvard or Yale, or having to settle for somewhere lesser like... Duke. The thought was enough to make her shudder, pull that simple black hoodie she had on a little tighter around herself. She'd never let herself slip, never let up. The Willows name needed to be done proud, after all-- and the sound of someone singing reached her ears, a masculine voice that resonated with longing and cut off her train of thought without much fuss at all. It was perfect in its pitch and timing, it was a tenor that was sweet and pure, untainted by uncertainty or imperfections.
It was... it was a revelation unto itself, moving and lifechanging and everything that Danny Zuko's voice was supposed to be.
The brunette actually dropped her pen, her eyes going wide as she scrambled to her Converse-clad feet. For a moment, a free and glorious moment, her ambitions and her work ethic both fell to the wayside as she found herself slowly heading out of that classroom and toward the source of that voice, that Heavenly voice. As she reached the door, she slowed down a bit, her footfalls as light as she could make them as she peeked with an unusual sort of... timidness around the doorframe at the source of that song. She didn't speak a word, didn't so much as breathe too loudly as she watched and listened, unable to recognize Ethan on sight... not from her current position.

Time passed by quickly whenever Ethan got caught up in something. Usually when he sat down to play his guitar, hours went by when he thought he’d only been there for a few minutes. When he was doing something he felt passionate about, he ended up getting completely absorbed in it. He never could focus on school work as a kid and his dad thought he had some sort of attention problem. But as soon as you put a guitar in the kid’s hands, no force in the world could stop him. He found he had the same problem as he got older—school work usually got tossed aside and music took precedence. School just didn’t click for him. He liked hands on things, something he could actually do which was why he loved performing so much. He wanted to make a profession out of it but convincing his dad would be like parting the Red Sea for him. It surely would not be easy.
But none of these issues really occurred to Ethan as he stood alone in the empty room, belting out the Grease number. Singing in general always felt good to him. It was when he felt whole. Any type of music made him feel this way. He had such a deep connection with it because music was what got him through his childhood and living in his house. It gave him the confidence to stick to what he loved no matter what others said. Nothing could come between Ethan and music.
He peeked at the clock on the wall, realizing how much time had passed. He had the words down already and felt confident with the song. But he decided to stay for a little while longer and make sure it was perfect. However, he suddenly felt the odd sensation of another presence nearby. He figured there were a few teachers lingering around the school. It’d been quite empty when he had gotten there, but there was sure to be people around. He twisted his head a little and saw no one so continued with his song. Maybe someone had just passed by the corridor. It wasn’t that Ethan was afraid for anyone to hear him; if he were, he would have gone somewhere more private. But he just couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was there. He whipped his head around again, not able to see anyone but saw a shadow near the doorframe. "Someone there?
