Ace sighed, somehow he had gotten dragged here after he helped clean up the mess his friends had made. He shook his head, as the music in the house beat loud and clear. He had landed himself at this party some kid was throwing. He was pretty sure most of the guests had crashed it but Ace didn’t worry it wasn’t his house. Ace was a regular attendee to parties whether he was invited or not, but today he didn’t want to go to a party. He went to parties to get girls and have fun, at the moment he was thinking about one girl and wasn’t having any fun. He was thinking about what he had almost done to Elaine and honestly he didn’t regret it. He should shouldn’t he? She was his friend and strictly his friend. Not only that but it seemed that she was just getting comfortable around him. He didn’t want to seem like the jerk who only got close to her to kiss her. He genuinely liked her as his friend. And yet he wanted to be more than friends.
A blond in a short skirt passed him by regularly he would be flirting and teasing with her and yet, he wasn’t his mind was focused on the words he should tell her. ‘Elaine sorry for trying to kiss you? I didn’t mean it?’ No what if she liked him back then that would be awkward. So how bout ‘Elaine sorry for trying to kiss you?’ it sounded better but lame too. He pulled at his hair in frustration. Then he thought of something. He was thinking about how he would tell this to her when what if she didn’t even show up?
Ace had invited her and left the message with one of the earth girls, hopefully she would give the message to Elaine. He wanted to apologize for the almost kiss, but he knew he would be lying when he said it. He didn’t know what to do, he was so stressed at the moment. He took one of those infamous, or famous, red cups filled with beer and downed it. Ace wasn’t a drinker. He could down maybe five drinks before he knew he could barely walk. He drank half of another one before he became a little looser. He smiled, a little drunkly, thinking about seeing Elaine again.
Ace was a charmer, a player, simply put he had experience with women. And yet here he was getting stressed out over one little girl. And yet he couldn’t even think of her as just a girl, or just a friend. He wanted to think of her as more but he knew he shouldn’t. Then again he knew a lot of things he shouldn’t that he still did. Like pranking the fire students by dousing them with water as they opened a door, or like kissing a pretty girl who already had a boyfriend. Things like that, but somehow this felt different. He knew he shouldn’t but he wanted to anyways, whether it was good or bad. He made up his mind as the alcohol mixed with his thinking. He liked Elaine, maybe even loved her. Should he tell her that or shouldn’t he. He drank the rest of the beer in his cup and threw it out. He didn’t know.
Ace was getting hot and nervous so he too of the sweater he had been wearing trying to cool off but it was still too hot for him. He blinked and wiped his forehead as he shuffled t o the back door to cool off in the light rain that had started. As he stepped outside he felt the coolness as it touched his skin, he smiled and looked up at the sky. “Hey Ace your friend is here!” Said one of his friends as they opened the door. Ace tried fixing his hair and he ate a breath mint so that it’ didn’t smell like he’d been drinking. He smoothed down his shirt and he looked up at the back door ready to tell her what he had been thinking. What had he been thinking? What words should he choose? Ace’s eyes went wide with anxiety, what would she do? Would she run away, or what. Would she tell him fuck off because he tried to kiss her? Would she punch him or slap him or do him major bodily harm for trying to kiss her, or the best option, would she kiss him this time?

Earlier that day had been...odd. Attacked by two fire students, saved by Ace—Elaine had actually flirted (what the hell was up with her?) with him. And she didn't know whether to cringe or not about what he'd almost done. She'd never been kissed before, and she'd had no idea what was going on. But if his defense, she had been flirting. But.... Ugh. The girl was so confused, and now felt like she was going to be awkward with two out of four of her friends. Made her want to hit herself. She didn't, but she wanted to.
She had basically decided to run away and live as a hermit when an earth girl she sorta knew came up and invited her to a party. Surprised, confused, and a little off her game, she just said, ”...What?” Today was a day for firsts, apparently. She was informed that Ace had invited her, that he wanted to tell her something, and her stomach turned over. The hell, the hell, the hell. Elaine almost flat out refused to go, not wanting to deal with awkwardness and tons of people and probably a heck of a lot of confusion. She just wanted to curl up in bed for a couple of days.
But Elaine decided to go. Perhaps it didn't have anything to do with the...thing. Perhaps he just wanted to know about why her arm was hurt or something like that. While Elaine knew her rationalizing was completely irrational, it did work to talk her into accepting the invitation. And a few hours later, the little blind girl was wondering what the hell she was doing, being driven over to the party by the nice earth girl. Who wouldn't shut up. Or stop saying little 'things' about Elaine and Ace, until Elaine actually snapped at her with such intensity in her voice that the rest of the car ride was overwhelmingly silent.
She heard herself announced before she reached the door, and it made her hesitate. Though most people might not have heard it, there was an extra little inflexion in the word 'friend'. As soon as she stepped through the door, her senses were barraged by beer, many, many people talking way too loud, and the feeling of far too many people far too close to her for her liking. She was about to stop, but then a couple people came in behind her and swept her forward. Immediately, she set up a breeze within the building and found the guy she'd come to see.
And then she was convinced that she should not have come here.
”Hey,” she said uncomfortably, her voice utilizing some of her vocal training to project above the ambient noise. ”Ace, can we go outside? It's really loud in here.” She also wanted to stall whatever he was going to do or say for as long as was possible. Days, hopefully. Maybe more.

Ace looked around and saw that girl he’d been waiting, to him, what seemed like a century and a half for. “H-hey.” Ace said nervously. Ace looked around, he thought he was outside, but he shook his head dismissing it on being drunk. Was he drunk? He only had two drinks. Damn he was a lightweight wasn’t he? But then again he never really drank much. At parties he was the soda kinda guy. It was easier to hit on girls when you weren’t drunk, easier to succeed in those hits to work too.
“Um y-yea lets head out.” He said again with that nervous tone to his voice. He was nervous. Ace wasn’t usually nervous when he was drunk, he was more a flirty fighter drunk if there was even such a category of drunk out there. Ace gently took her left hand in his and led her out of the house. Funny this was the second time he was holding her hand, the difference was that it was shaking form anxiety. What should he tell her? What should he say? Should he start out with an I’m sorry or an About that thing earlier? And what if she didn’t mind the almost kiss? Argh he was getting ahead of himself. He wasn’t even out the backdoor yet.
As Ace was weaving in and out of the crowds of people he picked up his sweater remembering about that light rain that had started out side. He weaved again through people keeping a light but nervous grip on Elaine’s hand. Eventually they made it out the backdoor where the sounds of the party where muffled by the walls of the house. He stopped and put on his sweater, “N-nice party huh?” What was with him? He was acting all nervous and dorky it wasn’t really like him.
Maybe he shouldn’t have had those two drinks, he might have dealt with this situation a lot better. He was beating himself up on how to talk to her, how to say what he should. Hell he didn’t even know what he was going to say. Why why did she have too make him wobbly kneed and tongue tied. Why did she make him feel like a kid with his first crush. He was killing himself here over what he should say and how she’d react.

He was stuttering. Elaine's scarred eyes widened in utter confusion, her own mind spinning madly. What the hell was this? She knew was this was. No, she didn't! She was a girl, of course she could tell when a guy was smitten. Right? Maybe she couldn't. ”Oh god...” she muttered, too quietly for anyone to hear under the dim of the party. She wanted to bring her hands to her face and just start shaking her head, but she resisted the urge. She didn't want him to start asking questions she would have no idea how to answer.
He stuttered out another answer, and then took her hand. Only there was a big difference from this one and the one from earlier that day. He was shaking, for one. And he was breathing a little bit too heavily, and Elaine could have sworn she'd smelled alcohol on his breath—masked by a mint, but it was still there. It took a great amount of willpower to keep her from shaking as he led her out of the house. Her own anxiety was starting to grow, her security and understanding of the situation plummeting with every step. Was he drunk? No, he couldn't be drunk.
Oh god, he was drunk!
He let go of her in order to put on his sweater and she took a step away from him warily, feeling a couple of flimsy walls go up inside of her. The feeling of the rain on her face and her arms was comforting, but not enough to offset her intense confusion. She'd always prided herself on being able to read people, but right now she was completely out of her element. What the hell was he doing? Why was he acting like this? Just that lunch they'd been bantering and hanging out as friends, and now he was tipsy and stumbling over his words. Nice party?!
”I don't really like parties, actually.” She said, unable to think of anything else, ”I tend to have a hard time with them.” Too many people, too many sounds. The music was too loud, and nothing ever stayed still, so even with her wind sight she had a hard time not running into things. It was like the mess hall on crack. But that wasn't really what was going on in her head as she stood there awkwardly, a slow current of wind circling her so she could see him. After a few seconds, she cast about for something else to say, ”Who called you before, and...what had happened?”

The realization of why she didn’t like parties hit Ace pretty hard. Duh it was loud and crazy and hard to move at parties. Of course she didn’t like them, was he an idiot?! He should of just invited her to the tree where they met instead of this loud and obnoxious party that he didn’t even want to go to. Was he an idiot? The answer was obvious, of course he was. Why did he have to be a tongue-tied idiot in front of her though, well he had no idea, or did he?
Ace steeled himself as he got ready to tell her what was on his mind. But as usual she caught him off guard with the question. Wait was she mad that the call interrupted or was she just asking something to fill this awkward silence. He thought back to the call and him running out of the room. What did they want again? He nearly forgot because he was to busy stressing out over this whole Elaine thing. Then he remembered, “Oh, it was just my idiot friend tried to prank someone and ended up setting a stink bomb up in the water dorms.” He said with a shaking of his head. The moment he said that he forgot about all the stress that he had about telling Elaine that important thing and suddenly he felt better, just a bit.
“Elaine look, I umm I want,” Ace paused “I want to apo-“ He didn’t finish the sentence because as Ace looked at her something in him clicked. The rain clouds had broken up and the moon peeked put. And he realized it, he knew what was wrong with him. Ace saw the moon light cast spears of light through the rain clouds and one of them landed on Elaine. Something in him took control but this time he didn’t resist. Like before he closed the distance between them and lifted her chin. He looked at her lips before closing his eyes and going for the kiss. “Elaine,” he whispered his lips centimeters from hers, “I-I think I love you.” He said, he kissed her gently and suddenly the world didn’t exist.

”Oh.” Elaine said quiet, too distracted to focus on what he'd said. Although she did wrinkle up her nose a bit as she though about what a stink bomb would be like. She might pass out if she ever had to smell one. It was a really good thing she didn't live in a dorm full of pranksters. Although at least in a wind dorm they'd be able to control where the fumes spread, open windows and create a current of air that wafted it away and into the sky. Where birds would smell it and start falling from the sky.... Goodness, what was she doing? The little blind girl's mind was upside down right now, wasn't it?
He started talking, and she pulled herself together enough go give him the attention he deserved. He still seemed nervous, but also serious. Internally she was cringing, yelling at him not to go there, just shut up and keep things simple, but she stayed quiet and stood there, face angled slightly skyward. Her eyes were closed, to keep the water from running into them, and her left hand had absently moved to grasp gently her right elbow. She waited stoically for him to say what he wished, and then he stopped talking.
There was a great paused, during which she frowned the slightest bit and said, ”You what?” Then he started toward her again, and it was like an exact copy of what he'd done earlier that day. She froze, her blind eyes shut tight, her heart pounding so loudly that she could have sworn he could hear it. What the hell was she supposed to do? Push him away? Slap him? That would be needless, for there was this one part of her that really anted to just see what would happen. What would it be like? And among all of these things that had her conflicted, the part of her that actually had control of her body did nothing.
Then he spoke.
Her eyes flew open in complete panic, all motor control came back to her in the instant before he pressed his lips against hers. She made a little muffled noise, but the butterflies in her stomach paralyzed her again. There were a few moments of her instinctively leaning into the kiss, tilting her head into his hand and accepting the gesture. Then, reality broke in again. She spluttered and shoved him away with both hands, backing off quickly, tripping, and falling on her rear end. ”What the hell!”
Elaine took a deep breath, screwing her face up against a thousand emotions and pulling her knees toward her. She shoved her forehead against them and said—loud enough for Ace to hear. ”L-love? You think you love me? What the hell, what the hell...?” There was not enough willpower in the world to allow her to gain control of her muscles and stand again. What had compelled him to say something like that? Here, where she couldn't just leave and process everything. He was her ride home, for goodness sake! ”Oh god, Ace. Ace, why did you do that?”

Ace smiled into the kiss as he felt her kiss back. He was in total bliss at that moment. He couldn’t feel the rain, or the cold, he couldn’t feel anything at all. The only thing he did feel was the softness of her lips upon his. Ace was a good kisser and he knew a good kisser when he met one. Elaine wasn’t so bad at kissing.
Ace was half ready for when he was shoved away, it was something he thought she might do so he only stumbled a little and didn’t end up falling on his rear. She however did and was mentally punched when she shouted out. Usually not the best response to get from a girl after kissing her, it hurt a guy’s pride, and usually told that the girl was not expecting it. Hell he wasn’t expecting it, it just happened. He didn’t regret it just happening though he did wish he had gotten a better response from Elaine other than a what the hell.
Ace stood still as he watched her draw her knees to her face. He heard her confused question and he answered. “I’ve only felt this feeling once before.” He said thinking back to when he met Lily. That one girl he was in love with but ended up breaking his heart. It was one of the reasons he never went any farther with a girl. He, he was scared to be hurt again. Eventually Ace and Lily became friends again and friends only. “I’ve never felt this in a long time. I really do think that I'm falling in love with you.” He said gently as he took a step towards her. “Why? I- I don’t know why myself.” He said, ”You probably hate me now.” He said with a sad sigh. She probably did, he made the mistake of kissing her. Maybe if he hadn’t kissed her they’d just be friends with unresolved sexual tension, though the feeling would mostly just be from him.
Ace took a step towards her and picked her up in a princess hold, “Don’t freak out, I just think we should talk about this in a more private place.” He said seeing some of his friends looking out the window. He glared at them, but the other reason was because he wanted to hold her, and it was a good excuse to do it now. Ace took her and went around the house into the street where his car was parked. It was an old car, his first car and damn did he love it. His dad had brought it up to him from America when he visited and gave him the keys. Ace loved the old thing even though most of the time he couldn’t pay for gas. Ace opened the passenger side without the use of keys because, well the lock was broken on that side. Gently he put Elaine in the seat. Ace went and unlocked the drivers side and sat down. He looked across at Elaine. “Do you wanna talk about it?”

Oh. Oh. So now, he'd been in love before. Did this word mean the same thing to him as it meant to her? Or, worse, could he just be lying in order to get her to fall? People did that, although it was very hard to imagine Ace doing that. Elaine was just having a hard time remembering which way was up right now. When her ears picked up footsteps toward her, her wind picked up at a much faster pace around her, tugging her hair away from her face and giving her a more detailed picture of his...geniality. He was being genuine, at least.
She shook her head, ”No, god no. I don't hate you, but what the hell am I supposed to say now? I don't love you, Ace. I like you, maybe, a-a bit more than most people, but....” She bit her tongue, shoving her face into her legs, and taking a very long breath. All thoughts of rain and cold were foreign to her at the moment, her heart was pounding, her stomach was churning, her entire body was shaking like a leaf.... No, she wasn't scared of him. Or even scared at all, in most ways. But she was confused, and extremely nervous, and just wanted to go home. To hell with wind sight and her friends and the war and everything. She just wanted Celia. Her dad.
”Ack!” She flailed about for a second when she felt his arms lift her into the air, and the wind about them picked up with the beat of her heart. It was only the single rational thought of perhaps making both of them fall over and hurt themselves—or worse, just end up...close--that had her calm herself and instead cling to him. This was not a very secure position. She bit her tongue and forced the wind to die down most of the way, so that he wouldn't have to exert himself to stay upright. She wanted to shout at him that he was being just a little, well, insane right now, but there was still that bit of her that trusted him. It was slowly dying, but he still had a chance to to redeem himself.
Putting her down would be a good start.
He did, eventually. In a car. When he left to go around to the other door she pushed hers as wide open as it could get, hoping that that would prevent him from driving away with her. Then he asked the most impossible to answer question in the world. Incredulity registered on her face, ”You kiss me, pick me up and bring me to your car to talk about it? Ace, maybe you didn't think about this, but you're just a little drunk. And I've never been kissed before tonight, and you know I don't like being touched without warning, and damnit now I'm really confused.” She put her head in both hands, taking a long, steadying breath.
It took several moments, but the girl made herself calm again. Her expression was carefully blank, her tone carefully bland as she let her hands fall into her lap. ”What do you want to say about it? Maybe you could give me a pointer or two about how to react when one of by best friends tells me he loves me. 'Cause my main impulse is o beg you to take me back to the academy.” There was a peace offering in her tone as she spoke, as well as a bit of vulnerability. Elaine was strong in many ways, but this was not one of those times. If her voice she held a plea for guidance, even though he was probably not the one with the best judgment ever right now.

Ace hit his head against the steering wheel the horn was broken so he didn’t have to worry about that. Ace sighed and shook his heads, it was a mistake, he shouldn’t have invited her he should have just went to this party got a girl and drove her to a hotel. No instead he gets all confused and then his mind is clear and then confused again. Gee wasn’t this great. “Elaine,” He said her name with a sad sigh. “I’m sorry for kissing you, I don’t regret it because it was great and I wanted to.” He said with a sigh. “When I invited you here tonight, my first mistake, I wanted to apologize for what happened. But you, I don’t know you were just here standing there, being beautiful without even knowing it. I'm not blaming you I'm blaming myself. And, Look I’m sorry.” HE said with a shaky breath. She didn’t like him like that, she was just a friend. He made a mistake and she probably wasn’t even that anymore.
“Don’t do that.” He said burying his head in his hands. “Whenever I do something wrong, you close yourself off to me it’s like when we met or our first sparring session. You were closed off to me you didn’t joke or tease me when you won. But I can’t see you like that, I want t o see you smile or laugh when I talk to you, hell I want to see you angry at me right now. But, I don’t know I guess that’s the reason, that I..” He stopped himself, he was just making it worse. He dug the keys out of his pocket, “I’ll drive you back to the Academy, you can forget this night ever happened, hell you can forget about me if you want.” He said. Ace was drunk, tired, and just a little sad she didn’t like him like that. He knew what to expect this night and yet still he was struck down. Ace started the car and it rumbled to life. He wanted to glance at her but felt it would only make this feeling worse. He whispered more to himself than to her “I’m sorry.”

Elaine flinched when she heard his head hit the steering wheel. Deep pain was just wafting from him, and she was starting to empathize like crazy. Damnit. She wanted anything but for him to feel like this, to be saying these things to her, good or bad. She wanted things to go back to the way they had been. Not because she didn't care about him, but.... She couldn't handle it. Any of it. Not now, not with the war making her sick with worry for Nell and the thoughts of Alex popping in and out of her head like annoying little gnats that she couldn't squish. She let out a long, shuddering sigh, starting to feel her little walls break down.
He started off on his deluge of apologies and she pulled her legs up in order to hug her knees. He had only just stopped when she finally snapped. ”Stop it, Ace. Stop it! Stop apologizing, and telling me I'm beautiful, and treating me like something...more. I'm not. You could do so much better—you probably have before.” A tear actually escaped her. What was she doing! Lord, why was she crying so much these days? She felt like she was some sort of chick from a soap opera, bawling about one thing after another. She sucked in another shaky breath and said under her breath, ”I'm blind, for crying out loud!”
Then he started telling her not to close up—something she was doing in direct response to her single tear—she didn't know whether to just give up the pretense or snap at him again. She didn't want to hurt him, though. She didn't want a repeat of what had gone down with Alex. Rather, it would be worse with Ace, because he wouldn't fight back. He'd just roll over and take the beating. And when he trailed off, she mentally filled in what he had been about to say. Love you. Hugging herself tighter, she rested her forehead on her knees with a deep exhalation. She was silent, then, until he turned on the car.
Without warning, her hand slammed down on the dashboard. ”Damnit, I don't want--” She stopped, took a deep breath, and raised her head. ”You don't underst--” She choked, then, as a sob tried to force it's way out. She gained her breath back, punching the dash again. Tear were starting to fall freely down her cheeks, now, showing the inner turmoil that had been trolling her these past three days. ”You don't get to just give up! Not you, too. You don't get to just walk away and never talk to me again, it doesn't work that way. I will not—I can't—lose you.”
All the pain from hearing Alexandre cuss her out and walk away was coming to her, the feeling of betrayal and the deep scar it had left within her. It was her greatest fear, and her greatest friend had grabbed hold of it and twisted. She didn't even have enough strength right now to restrain herself any more than to keep Alex's name from being mentioned. She couldn't set that off, it would kill her even more than she was dying right now. He apologized again, and the blind girl made a frustrated, unintelligible, desperate sound. She left the car, tripped, caught herself on the pavement with both hands (ow), and stood up again, staring at the sky with open gray eyes and feeling the rain mix with her salt tears.

Ace pulled his head from the steering wheel as she snapped at him. He’d dated a lot of girls, some were, most were beautiful, but Ace didn’t find just that kind of beauty in Elaine. He found her beautiful in how she didn’t give a damn how you looked, or how she would never give up on what she wanted. Then she said it, “I don’t care if your blind! Elaine I’m doing all this, this, this stuff!” He said making a gesture to what had been happening that day, “ Because you are you! If you had one arm you’d tell me you could throw farther than me. If you had no legs you’d tell me you'd kick my ass in a race! Elaine I see not only you on the surface but who you are. And… And that’s why it doesn’t matter if you’re blind!” He said with a firm tone.
When she slammed her fist on the dashboard Ace jumped and he heard her make a choking sound as if she forced a cry back down her throat. When she punched the dash again, Ace was a little happy his car didn’t have airbags else they probably would’ve gone off. But nows not the time to be dwelling on missing safety parts... Ace listened to her yell at him he listened and heard Not you too. Someone else had given up on her? He wouldn’t not now, not when it seemed like she needed him.
Ace watched her go out of the car and into the rain, he cursed silently to himself about himself and got out of the car and ran next to her. Ace looked at her and he realized she was crying. Ace wrapped his arms around her in a comforting hug. “Elaine look at me.” He said firmly, “Elaine hear my voice.” He said gently. He wiped a tear that had escaped from her eyes. “You will never lose me, no matter what happens. I’m your knight in shining armor remember? Whether it’s the dead of night or I’m half dead at the hospital.” He said remembering what he said earlier that day. “So Elaine,” He said her name with sincere care and love, “You will never, ever lose me.” Ace said gazing into her eyes, He wanted her to see the way he said these words, to know that no matter what happened, they were true. “You’ll never lose me.”
(( sorry its rather corny, I was thinking of where the heroine runs out into the rain and the hero comes after her and comforts her..... and they kiss.... [tottally not suggesting something] ))

She couldn't actually make herself respond when he started talking about her in that way. She wanted to squirm away, feeling keenly uncomfortable when he started pointing out things about her that she hadn't even realized. That was so...scary. He must have been feeling like this for awhile, to have been watching so closely, actually understanding. And it frightened her to no end. If she hadn't already been shaking, she would have started in earnest. This was not fair, this was not fun. It was always the part a girl liked the best in the stories, but right now it sucked.
Standing out in the rain was cold, but she didn't make a move to go back into the car. She just waited, vaguely aware of the sound of Ace's approach, hugging herself in an effort to get herself back into some sort of a put-together state. But it wasn't working, and thus she accepted the comfort of his embrace, even though he was right now confusing the hell out of her, she felt okay when he was holding her. A weak laugh left her when he asked her to look at him, feeling as though this time he really had forgotten she was blind. She didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Sure, she could have used her wind or her hands, but she was far too tired for that.
He spoke, and slowly she started to feel better. She was stubborn, she knew, and very bad at accepting other people's emotional support. There was a pride thing there, but there was mostly that fear of betrayal, keeping her at arms length from everyone. And here was Ace, pushing and shoving and elbowing his way closer to her, all because he seemed to have fallen in love with her over the month and a half they'd known each other. Finally, mostly because she was exhausted and raw, she just let her walls collapse.
The blind girl let out a long, trembling breath, leaning further into him and pushing her face into his face. She waited like that for awhile for him to say something else, mostly because every time he spoke she got flustered and lost her train of thought. Then he was silent, so she hugged him with her good arm and shifted her head so she could speak. ”Ace, I....” It started out slow, but soon she got the hang of it again, ”I like you. A lot. More than a friend but.... I don't know what that means right now. I don't love you, I don't feel that deeply for anyone right now.” What else was she supposed to say? 'I don't want to start a relationship because I'm terrified you'll just hurt me.' 'I don't want to start a relationship because Alex won't get out of my head.'
Neither of them worked at that moment. Even if they were things she should have admitted, she could not do it. So she just smiled a little bit and alluded to what he'd said earlier. ”And I don't think I would challenge you to a race with no legs. I'm much more realistic than that.” Another weak laugh. ”One leg, maybe.”

Ace smiled at her saying she might like him more than a friend, and right now he was satisfied with it. "It's alright Elaine." He said with a smile. He put his forehead onto the top of her head mostly from exhaustion and maybe relief. "I can always wait." He said with a smile still holding her. He could wait for her until she found love, whether it was him, which he really really hoped for, or it was someone else, even though it would shatter him like a brick hitting a window. It had happened to him before, that shattering. He had shattered and it took him a while before he was cured, but like every broken heart there was always a fracture left. That was why he had never gotten close with any other girl mostly he didn't feel that way for them and he didn't want that fracture to become a crack and then shatter him again. He didn't want that to happen again, but he knew this was life and it happened, he just didn't want it to happen again.
Ace smiled and gave a light chuckle. "Of course you would Elaine." He said, "C'mon I'll drive you back to the school." He said leading her to the car. He opened the door and let her in. Once she had gotten in Ace got into the drivers side a little more sober and maybe a little older. He mused on this as he eased away from the curb and started the drive back to the Academy. His mind on the girl beside him and how he hoped, wished, she would fall for him. He would wait as he said, and even if he was shattered he'd still be a friend. He wasn't selfish, he wouldn't just drop her if she didn't return his feelings. He hoped he wouldn't do that anyways.
