Now that school was in session it felt like Arianna had barely any time to herself. Between school projects, homework and the few friends she had made, she was beginning to feel a little stretched thin. She was finally realizing what people were talking about when they said they had senioritis. All she wanted to do was relax for a few hours in the sunshine. She really did love the outdoors and feeling the warmth of the sun. At the moment she was sitting up against a tree with her legs pulled in underneath her. Because it was still warm and somewhat sunny outside she was still able to get away with wearing a pair of dark shorts and a purple tank top. In a few months she would definitely not be able to wear shorts and she wanted to enjoy it while it lasted. Her flip flops lay forgotten beside her, preferring bare feet at the moment, and she was attempting to read a new book she had just gotten.
Key word being attempting to read. Her thoughts had been plagued lately with the mysterious boy she had met at the beach a few weeks ago. The boy who had managed to slip into her defenses for a few moments and the one who probably had her favorite pair of sandals and shorts. But she had his shirt so in the end it was a little more even. She had been trying to avoid him, mostly by not going back to the lakeside beach in Maple Hollow, but it was hard not knowing anything about it. He could go to the Academy and just happen upon her and embarrass her even more. Her walk home had been thoroughly mortifying as it was. He probably had a great laugh over it.
So far she had been lucky though. She had been so busy she hadn’t even been out many places where they could have run into each other again. But she was tired of being cooped up inside the thunder dormitories all the time and she missed just lazing around. Besides no guy is going to make me go out of my way to do anything. Even if it is only to avoid him. She was so conflicted lately. Usually guys were easy because she avoided them. But even avoiding him was hard because whenever she wasn’t busy her thoughts flickered back to him.
Arianna sighed and tugged at the ends of her hair trying to focus on the words on the page. But a shadow appeared on the pages, blocking the sunlight somewhat and causing an even bigger distraction than what was on her mind. “Go away.” She frowned knowing someone had appeared behind her. But she wasn’t interested in talking to any of her friends at the moment. And it had to be one of her friends, who else would voluntarily come up to talk to her when she looked so concentrated. She turned her head an inch and caught sight of who it was and then quickly blanched, internally freaking out. Well shit.
