GONNA GO TO BABYLON AND GET ME SOME WHISKEY
Nell dragged her fingers through her hair, successfully yanking strands out of the bun. With a sigh, she took it out of its holder and began to walk across the mess she had made. Or well, the forest. She would be cleaning it up before anyone got home...or so she had thought. At first, it was meant to be practice in growing plants in climates that would not normally be able to sustain life. So she had turned up the thermostat and created a little rain forest...but then it started to grow. And now she was thinking she needed a machete. Her goal now was to look for all the pets and make sure that they didn't eat anything they weren't supposed to. She knew that most of the plants she'd grown were not toxic to people, but she couldn't predict how they would be for dogs and cats and foxes. It made her nervous as she wandered around in shorts and a tank top, when earlier she had been wrapped up in her sweater.
The Earth graduate really should have planned better for when he friend was coming over. Honestly, if anyone knew her, they wouldn't be surprised with this. She had a tendency to screw things up. Mostly experiments. The chemistry lab had been a poor, unfortunate victim of her. Nell liked to think about the times she did things right, however. Hopefully Justin wouldn't turn around and leave once lying eyes on her oasis of vines and trees and a mansion turned safari excursion. She had never invited him over before, and she didn't think anything of the fact that she resided in the mansion. When she first moved in, she might have. A year and a half ago, she wouldn't have pulled a stunt like this because she didn't feel like the house belonged to her. With marriage, things had changed. Now she felt at home in mansion country, the community beyond all the middle-class residence and the exquisite manors spaced far between.
She would always remember where she started. A row home in the South Bronx, with a broken family and barely enough to get by. Needless to say, this upgrade had been startling at first. Josh's wealth had always been startling to her, even when it had been their wedding. She would never get over it, she didn't think. Every moment, even now walking through her Earth elemental disaster, she was glad she could even be doing something like this. That she could have this house, and security and safety and a husband who she loved very much. Hope he doesn't kill me when he gets home. She was not planning for him to find out about all this, she would get rid of any and all evidence of what had happened. It would be grand for her not to screw things up for him -- he had enough to be stressing about in his life, she didn't want to be another thing on that list.
She almost tripped, and looked down to see Winston. She picked him up and carried him to one of the guest rooms, pushing her way through the waist-high grass. She closed the door after putting him in, even though she felt bad. It wouldn't be for long. Nell continued on searching, pulling burrs off of her shorts and feet whenever they clung. There was no way she'd wear socks, not in this temperature of climate. Besides, she didn't even like wearing them. Too restrictive. Five cats, two dogs, and a fox later, and she was confident that the animals were all out of the danger zone, which stretched around the first level of the house, mainly in the halls. The girl didn't have time to be proud or to think of what she'd done -- one reason because she was exhausted by it, another because Justin would be here any second. Which could be a good thing.
She got an idea then. Making her way back to the front of the house, she opened the door to the freezing cold of winter. A slight shudder went through her, but she laid out on the front step to cool off while waiting for him, sweat freezing to her body. Winter never felt so good.
When he finally approached, she managed to tell him in a weary voice, "I made a mistake." There was a resignation at the end of her words, a drop in tone. With great effort, she lifted herself into a sitting position, feet on the step below her as she wrapped her arms around her chest. She blinked at him with wide brown eyes, the kind that kids gave their parents when they thought they could be forgiven for something when they pleaded enough. "Would you be kind enough to help me? I will make you lotsa food! Anything you want. Because uhm..." She looked behind her to the open door, the only thing visible tall grass and vines.

DEAD SET ON A GET-AWAY i'm dead set on a get-away This was the first time in his friend’s shiny new mansion. Though he supposed it wasn’t exactly ‘new’ but it was new to him. It was hard to think that someone his age was already married considering he was still a frolicking frisky young man, but it seemed to suite well to Nell. Justin actually wasn’t particularly fond of the husband, but it wasn’t as if he was the one getting married to the guy. He would just sit, smile, and wonder how a bastard like him got the things he did. Ah well, can’t win them all. If you were anyone else. Justin did believe if he wanted to set his mind to something, he would succeed at it. If he wanted to go and find someone to settle down with, he would. He just didn’t want to. There was still so much to experience and so much more to learn. A little more experience was needed for this. Not to mention he wasn’t even a graduate yet. He wanted to do a couple of things first. Like make a tornado.
He looked in the mirror, fixing his shirt before grabbing his keys. Most people had these cool houses outside of the academy, but not Justin. Well, at least, he didn’t have a home that was close to where he was at. His home was all the way in Texas, and he hadn’t been there in years. Quite frankly, he hadn’t really talked to his mother either. He had his brother here at the academy, wandering around and having fun already, but Justin hadn’t even talked to him either. He just found better people to talk to than his family. There were those that were close and believed that family came first. Not Justin. As far as he was concerned, he didn’t choose them. Why did he have to treat them like he did? Justin wasn’t exactly an extremely loyal person. He tried to be, but his flexibility made it pretty difficult. There was too many things dangling in front of him- often calling it temptation.
As he was driving up to what he assumed was her mansion, he hadn’t expected the door to be open. From where he was, it almost looked dark in there. Like he was visiting this at night and none of the lights were on. There was a figure sitting outside in barely anything in this freezing winter weather. Justin was wearing a bundle of coats and a hat. If he weren’t in his car, he would still be shivering from head to toe. Maybe it was just where he was born, it was hard for him to ever not be cold up here. Parking in what he assumed was a parking space (she’d tell him to move if it wasn’t right?), he saw her coming up to him. There was part of him that wondered if he could just stay in the warm car, but figured that would be an awkward get together. Gritting his teeth, he opened the door. The cold air hit him in the face and it took him a moment to adjust.
What he discovered was a Nell wearing a tank top and her hair wet from sweat. The hell had she been doing since she got here? He blinked and furrowed his brows at her, understanding it was going to be just her and him. Then she continued to speak and his interest was sparked. The phrase ‘I made a mistake’ most of the time started a very interesting story that he would most likely encourage. ”Always a beginning to a wonderful story.” He grinned, following her gaze to see that the reason the house had been so dark was because it was covered in vines. Oh god, what did this Earth elemental do now? Observing the front door, Justin started laughing. Oh this is wonderful. Justin would have helped her anyway, but the thought of food was making him hungry. However, with all of this, how the hell was he supposed to help? As he approached, he felt the heat radiating through the place and suddenly understood. His hat came off. ”I was picturing something entirely different. How on Earth did you do this?” Using a related pun to make his sound more interesting. Justin talked slow, but amused, and soft, like he always did. His tongue rolling each word off like he was just meant to speak. Yeah, he was just that good. TO CATCH MY BREATH DO YOU want me oh do you want me dead

GONNA GO TO BABYLON AND GET ME SOME WHISKEY
Nell let a hint of nervous smile come over her face when he spoke. Her life seemed to be fifty-fifty. A fifty percent chance that whatever she did would go over swimmingly. The other fifty percent chance that it would go way out of hand and something would go terribly, terribly wrong. For instance, making smoke bombs...indoors. It was probably one of her worst ideas, and she really hoped Devin forgave her for the whole arresting fiasco. Her father had bailed them out then, and she just hoped her relative lack of trouble-making lately helped the man forget that it was the second time his money had been used for bail. The better part of that, her innovative ways of cleaning the house worked out well and created some fun whenever she got to fly around on sponges. She just really hoped Justin wouldn't judge her for her mistakes. If any of her friends did, she would feel just terrible about it because honestly, she relied them and how the felt about her and how they judged her. The most important people in her life were them, and she didn't know what she would do if she lost them because she did something stupid. She had lost a lot of friends thanks to the trial, the fact that she had the stigma of 'murderer' attached to her.
She crossed her arms and tilted her head when he made comment on this story that she had. Tilting her head, she shrugged a little and said, "You know, yeah, eventually, this is gonna be a great story. Haha, everyone laughs, we all have a good time." She tittered as if to emphasize her own words. Right now she was just worried about the clean up and how well that was going to go over. There was a lot of growth. At least she didn't have any wildlife, no jaguars or snakes? "Right now, it's more like, we might have to fumigate a mansion. And that's not really as good a story. More of a news report, actually." And while many a buildings had been the poor unfortunate victim of her experiments -- she had smoked out a room in the mansion before, but that was just one room and because of one too many incense -- but she didn't want her own home to have an irreparable damage because of what she thought might be a fun thing to do. Junior year, she had to practice actual application of her powers.
At least when Justin spoke, he didn't sound judgmental at all. He was just his usual suave self, and she took a moment to think about the question. Meanwhile, her breath turned cloudy and rolled out of her mouth with every exhale. She gave great effort to rub the goose bumps off her arms, the temperature between indoors and outside astronomical. "Uh...you ever get those times when you watch a movie or read a book and think hey, that's a good idea. Well, uh... I was reading Heart of Darkness and thought why not jungle?" She threw her hands up, recreating her actions when she thought this little plan up. It had gone very well in her head. A few trees, some vines, tarp laid down and everything. Then like forests tended to go, it...grew. "I did it in my old apartment before, but, you know...it never quite got this massive." Because it couldn't get that massive in her old apartment. Well, her old old apartment downtown, before she had started living with Josh. That had been her own domain, she could do whatever she wanted without concern of who she'd been living with. Because the only thing she had was her cat...who was now in one of the guest rooms with the rest of the animals.
She beckoned the man in with her hand, telling him, "If you want to like, take off your shoes, that might be a wise idea." No one wanted to get dirt if they had their favorite pair of kicks on. Which was another reason why she was shoeless, other than the fact she greatly preferred it. The Earth elemental headed into the foyer where the trees provided a canopy under the large ceiling, vines dangling down. The only difference between the jungle and her home was the lack of animal sounds. She scratched the back of her head, surveying everything with a hand on her hip. "I can work on the trees, but I might need some help...relocating moss and everything. I have a wheelbarrow out back, and if you can just move it to the maze." Her maze was an overgrowth of shrubs and trees and flowers that she tended to year around. She swung to face him, holding her hands together as if praying. Now was the begging. "It would mean so, so, so much if you could help me out here. I could even make you food. Whatever you like. What's your favorite, I can make it!" Food would be her last-ditch effort at trying to rope him into this. If they did it in time, she could clean up the house and make it look just as it had been before Josh left and it would all be peachy keen. Plus, food. Everyone loved food.

DEAD SET ON A GET-AWAY i'm dead set on a get-away As much as Justin claimed that he judged people all the time, truth told that he judged a lot less than most people did. To him, he had just done so much shit that not a lot of what people could do could surprise him. Not saying that he judged at all would have been a flat out lie. Justin defiantly had those people that he judged nine ways to Sunday without feeling a hint of regret about it. He was also particularly picky on his people. Yet, the people that most people always judged he didn’t think twice about. It was a back and forth battle that no one could really predict. So in the end, Justin was just your average unpredictable wind. Everyone judged though, in some manner. Although, looking at his friend now, he couldn’t picture her ever judging anyone else, but she didn’t count. Justin didn’t know why, but he wanted his opinion on judging to be valid.
Man, she seemed nervous about this one. This made him excited as to what it was she did wrong. It made his mind start to wander and start to guess of what this possibly could have been. Justin’s imagination was in no means small and limited. It was going all over the place. Everyone laughs in the end and we all had a good time. That didn’t narrow it down very much. On the contrary, it just expanded all the possibilities. Justin was waiting for this story, but of course, all the plant life seemed to end it. It was still exciting of course, but it hadn’t really been the direction he wanted to go. Ah well. Can’t win them all. How she was planning for him to help with something like that, he had absolutely not a clue. ”It can double as a good story and a news report. Those are bound to happen every once in a while if the media does the job correctly.” He nodded.
At her explanation, he couldn’t help but laugh. Of course. That would be what happened. Especially in a book like the Heart of Darkness. Justin had good taste in books, but he really hated that one. It could go crawl in the hole so that books written by- say- Stephen King could properly make themselves up to the top. He was sure that Stephen King would become a classic. He was sure that if he was forced to read Heart of Darkness again, he would have attempted the same thing. Even knowing that his element was wind. ”Was any alcohol involved in this reading?” He asked, ”That was how I got through it.” the second part wasn’t serious. Justin knew better than to drink when reading a complex book, but he did feel like he was drunk by the time he was done reading that stupid thing. He was pretty sure that his grade hadn’t been the best on it either. Double whammy. Fuck it. Maybe he should have been drinking when reading it. It would have been the same difference. Suddenly, he had a craving.
Probably would have exploded in any other place besides a mansion, to be honest. Though, he wasn’t sure how far this thing went. It could have just been at the front door, but he doubted it. It was probably cooking up that house and everything in it like a giant oven. ”It would have taken over the entire apartment building if you attempted this at your old place.” He didn’t want to tell her that he somewhat liked her old place better than this place. But that was Justin’s little prickles of jealous talking more than logic. He was sure that in many ways, she loved this place much more. It wasn’t Justin that had to live here, so he shouldn’t have had any say. He should just nod at all the pretty decorations and go on his way. Although right now it was really hard to tell what the pretty decorations were behind all of this… nice plants. Hopefully this wasn’t going to be attracting any strange wild life. He doubted that there was going to be a mysterious tiger wandering around looking for a new home, but all the same, he looked with caution.
With a sigh, he took off of his shoes, leaving his bare feet touching the cold floor, but feeling that it was becoming warmer with the more he walked toward it. He ducked his head into her house, but did not yet enter. Justin’s blue eyes scanned the area like it was a new project that he was about to tackle. She really had made quite the mess, didn’t she? ”I do have to say, this is beautiful work. It’s a shame it doesn’t look like you can move much in here.” That was also coming from a person who would prefer to keep himself clean. To regular people, it could have been easy to move around in there, but everything was brushing against each other. Justin was one of those people to appreciate the beauty of nature, but from a distance. He was a city person. He thrived in the city and the busy fast pace life it created. He was afraid to become too bored in a country environment. Apparently, Nell decided that it would be better the other way around.
Oh, it was so tempting to go back to his car and bail out. That was just like him too. Justin bit his bottom lip, but looked at her pleading for any help in the matter. Before her husband came home and ruined the fun, no doubt. He took a large breath in and left it out slowly. Wheel barrowing and moving to a maze wasn’t really what he thought was a good time. Still, he realized that he needed to really work on being that ‘good friend’ that everyone wanted him to be. Plus, food was involved. And Nell made some good quality cooking. ”You are so so so lucky that I love food as much as I do. You owe me.” He told her with a smile, stepping into the house and seeing what she meant. The work earth elements could do was amazing. He lightly stepped around all the of branches and sighed, ”Wait… you have a maze?” He blinked, looking back at Nell in amazement, remembering the instructions he was given. GONNA GO TO BABYLON AND GET ME SOME WHISKEY
Nell smiled, like she was thinking something that she couldn't just tell Justin. She used to read a lot. Not so much anymore as she didn't have the time, but in her youth that book had been one of them. Perhaps she'd done it for nostalgia? Instead of explaining -- she never explained anything -- she agreed with her friend. "My sobriety during that time is subject to question, yes," she informed him. "It's still in question, as a matter of fact. Just know that if I stumble and fall and land on my face..." She gestured with one of her hands. "...it's probably the booze. " Given the state of her home, it could continue to be questioned. Poor Justin didn't know what he was getting into, but he was friends with people from theater. They were all a little strange, and he certainly had his own quirks. She picked up things like that easily, appreciated them for what they were.
Justin made a very keen observation. As she observed it, she felt some pride in her power. "Could you imagine. It would have gone throughout the entire place, and then they would have had to thrown up one of those fumagation tents and guys with hazmat suits would be wandering around and then I would become that chick, you know the one." Clearly, she could imagine it and she let her creativity run wild with that scenario. She didn't want to cause trouble for anyone so that would be an event that would have her in a state of panic. Though she supposed she was causing trouble for Justin. She never liked to ask anyone for help, but she also knew when some things got a little too out of hand. "Thank you!" she said brightly, a light blush on her cheeks. "But uh...yeah, yeah...a little bit of problem. I mean, there might be some poisionus stuff in here so just be careful." Hopefully she would be able to identify any and all of it with her knowledge of plants. She didn't want Justin to end up with a skin disease because she decided this was a fun way to spend her time off. It was already nice enough of him to help out, even though she was sure he didn't want to spend his own free time this way.
Nell grinned when he seemed not to have known about the maze. Understandable. Him having not been over the house before, she likely neglected to tell him. Nell instinctively turned to look over to where it would be in the backyard. "I see that I have some explaining to do." She turned to look at him, lacing her fingers behind her back. Keeping to the fact that she never explained herself, she told Justin: "Mazes are freaking cool."Nell spread her hands out, like that was enough of a reason for it. "You know, Justito, I don't know why I haven't invited you over sooner, you could have gone through it when it was still somewhat warm out. But now I can't allow you outside for long periods of time, because I will never forgive myself if you have to have your toes amputated." Of course, if he happened to get lost in the maze, she could get him out. A few shifts in the greenery and he would be standing in the backyard. "Unless you want to?" she questioned about the maze, wondering if he may have wanted to test it out. It was large, sprawling through most of the backyard. It had taken her some time to feel comfortable with changing her mother-in-law's garden, but this was her and Josh's home now.
It took a while for everything to get in order, and she handled the plants with gloves to avoid anything hazardous from happening. After all the vegetation was cleared out, she brushed up the remaining dirt and soil and the stray leaves that had fallen. She tried to keep spirits up by singing Hairspray songs, hoping Justin would get into it. If they were going to do some manual labor, might as well enjoy it. Soon enough, it was as if she had never done anything. "Voila! And the Dale estate has been restored to its glorious sheen," she said to Justin as she stood in one of the living rooms, brushing her hands off. "Now you go wait in the kitchen, kay? I have to release the beasts." She had marked the door she left them in with a sign that said "animals here" and braced herself for what she knew was coming. She opened the door, and the animals scrambled out. Instead of feeling bad -- it had been for their own safety -- she chuckled and picked up Pablo to kiss his furry face. Peering inside the room with the cat in her arm, she was pleased to find none of them had defecated on the carpet. That would just be something else to clean up.
She walked into the kitchen and dropped Pablo onto the floor, and saw that Winston had also found his way there with Nietzche, the German Shepherd. "Have I told you about the animals?" she asked, a devious smile creeping over her face. He didn't know about the maze, he probably also didn't know just how many pets the Dales owned. Like her husband's fox. Being rich certainly came with its advantages, and she could hardly believe them herself sometimes. She'd never had a pet before, or...anything, quite honestly. She washed her hands off in the kitchen sink, cleaning them with dish soap. "Anything special you like? I mean, we have a crazy amount of food all the time, it's like we're preparing for hibernation." He could name something really out there, and there was a large chance that she could make it. This was a family that enjoyed their food. She had a passion for the act of preparing it, and had a flair that made it kind of like an art form. "Oh, and I haven't even asked you how school's been." She wiped off her hands, pulling open a drawer and looking at the contents.

DEAD SET ON A GET-AWAY i'm dead set on a get-away Justin may not have labeled himself as one, but the man had a bad habit of being lazy. It wasn’t that he couldn’t do it. He just really didn’t want to put that much effort into it. The guy was a 4.0 kind of students, but with not a single honor program to be found. No honors. Just A in the regular classes. He wasn’t sure what that said about himself, but all he knew was that he was looking at this entire mansion trying to figure out what he was going to do with himself. He was pretty sure he would rather stand there and give Nell support as she worked her little earth powers and got it over with. Unfortunately, he knew that he needed to improve on that reliable friend thing. He was probably going to complain through it the entire time. Justin wasn’t a quiet sort of fellow. If he had something to say, there was more of a reason that he was going to go out and just say it.
With a laugh, he asked, ”Suppose you don’t have any leftover for little ol’ me, right? Falling on my face sounds about the time of my life right now.” Justin tried to figure out how he managed to get through life without drinking much before he hit of age. He did a little bit and he always had to sneak it around. Go behind people’s backs and act like nothing was going on. It was no fun like that. It was much better to prance around with a drink in your hand and his head as high as it could possibly go. All the younger classman probably looking with complete envy. He remembered doing the same, so bullshit if they said anything less. Then there were those in denial, saying that drinking was a waste of time. Oh, clearly they never had any. It was so blissful. So many fun things. So many.
Justin was very convinced that Nell knew the entire population of this place. She was so social and whenever she was mentioned in a conversation, about five other people in the same room knew exactly what they were talking about. The Earth really knew how to expand her horizons. He was sure that if she ended up being a wind, she would have known every single person, as there was no alliance that was standing in the way. Alliances were understood, but they always confused Justin. He got why they didn’t get along and whatnot, but what happened when he was placed into an alliance without even getting to know him? Winds were like the fun exception to every rule. Try to predict them? Impossible! It was something he took quite a bit of pride in. ”Everyone knows you. They’d all understand ‘oh look at Nell.’ It’s those Thunders and Fires you got to worry about.” He worried with a shake of his finger, almost as if he were telling a small child how things worked out or didn’t work out.
Wait, no, he didn’t do poisonous. It looked bad on his skin and his health didn’t really like it all that much either. There was no way he was going to allow something like this to happen to himself. Still, he already agreed to the obligation. It would have been rude for him to say no, but it would have been worse if he just backed out of it after just saying yes he would be a good friend. This is what he got, right? ”If I get some sort of skin condition or die, I’ll haunt you forever.” He warned. Not really a very good threat considering that would never happen, but it did make his point correctly. Who was to say there wasn’t something afterwards? Justin tried not to think about that too much though. Far too cynical and gloomy for what he liked and what he needed in life.
He did it anyway. At first, it was a little more slow working, but she started to sing Hairspray. It was no secret that Justin loved to sing. He loved to perform, and that was a good part of it. He sang right on key the entire time with sweat starting to drip on his back. It forced him to take off of his layers and at least unbutton the front of his last layer. If he would get really desperate, the entire shirt was going off, but until then, he was going to stick to just his front showing. It wasn’t so much the work as it was the heat in there. Going outside was actually a relief. Coming back in was getting better though. More and more the vine population was decreasing. There came to a point where she said they were done. Justin looked around. The jealous part wanted to say he liked it better with vines, but he didn’t want to offend. ”It’s nice and big. I’ll say that.”
Pets? He blinked and went wide eyed. He had never really had a pet before. His mother said no and he never was able to get to that. Perhaps he should get one. He doubted Nell was going to part with any of them, so that chance was out of luck. His eyes darted to her arms when she came back. ”I think you mentioned a dog once. How many do you have? Might as well have a bunch of kiddies running around.” Something the couple might have been considering. Justin personally had no problem with kids. He just wasn’t going to have any. Ever. That would entail the wife or the kid out of wedlock. Either way was a no-no. His eyes met Nell’s again and he paused. Now that it was all said and done, what did he want? What was he craving? As soon as he said it, he knew, ”Ravolis. With cheese.” If she got something out of a can, he was going to be a very livid hungry man.
At her question, he laughed lightly, ”Fine. Same as it always is. Can’t wait to get out and cool stuff like that. You like staying here?” He asked. It wasn’t that he was trying to avoid conversation about school, but he hadn’t been on his luck streak lately. For some reason, he decided to keep going outside when it was colder than balls. Then he would see these beautiful women- all of which weren’t interested. But he was far too picky to go with easy. One girl called him ass before even looking at him right in the eye. He had a particular liking to that one. Justin was going to try a little harder for that one. Challenge had been accepted.

GONNA GO TO BABYLON AND GET ME SOME WHISKEY
Nell's mouth turned into a pout, looking very disproving of his words. "Drinking is very unhealthy, sir, I will not have you do that in my house." Clearly she was joking...to some extent. She did worry a lot over her friends' health, held it as her personal responsibility to make sure they were all right, but she wouldn't hold out on booze. After serving alcohol for a year and a half of her life, it would be very hypocritical on her end. Even though she knew the effects, and worried about them. In that moment, her pout turned into more of a frown when she realized something. "Wait, is something wrong?" she asked with a note of concern in her voice. Considering he said that falling on his face sounded really good, she assumed that there must have been something going on. Of course, she could be wrong. Multiple times she had proven herself an exceptional worrywart.
It was nice to hear that everyone knew her. She got around, proven by the fact that she was friends with a Wind like Justin. If she meets you, likes you, she attaches like Velcro and no one gets rid of her after that. Unless they leave. She'd had enough people leave her that it was something that deeply effected her. Shaking those thoughts of her mind, she pouted again when he wagged his finger. "I reckon they don't like me too much," she said with a shake of her head, her hands on her hips. Of course they didn't. Thunders mostly, she'd always had a bad rap with them. "You're lucky, you can be friends with everyone! I mean, unless the Winds are forced to take action in a war, but I have to be wary of everyone. It stinks. I really like people!" She was secret friends with Morgan, and her husband was a Fire, but he had switched sides. And now that he'd graduated, alliances weren't very enforced. The same went for Lark, though she was in school now. She'd been labeled a traitor, though Nell did not like to think in those terms -- she was just happy that she chose their side.
"Aww, but J, I would never let you die." She gave him a fierce hug, as if that would prove to him that she could never live with herself if he died. That was true. She had lost a friend before, and it hurt more than she ever showed. To anyone seeing her, it would appear that she'd gotten over it relatively well. She hadn't even cried after Leo's death -- not even in front of Josh. But that was because she had never been taught how to deal with death, and so was afraid that crying would be wrong. She'd lost her sister when she was younger, she'd killed her own mother, death had more of an impact on her life than she'd ever wanted. And she didn't want Justin to die. She would miss him and his joking and the way he always seemed to know what to say.
Nell looked over to spy his reaction to the whole pet deal. She knew that he didn't have any pets, and so explaining her menagerie would probably be mind-boggling. "We have two dogs, Nietzsche and Balto. And we have five cats, Apache, Chester, Eris, Picasso and Pablo." The latter two were brothers, of course. She took out a pan and went on, "My pig's name is Winston, and Josh's fox is Zerda." Technically they were their animals, but he was the one who wanted the fox that she didn't even know existed. "We have a lot of birds. And then there's the pond slider, he's in the bathtub now." She had come to the conclusion that he would be cold out back in the lake during winter, and they had big tubs. She got ingredients for pasta from the fridge. "We're an animal family," she finished, as if that wasn't clear enough. They had the room, and the money, and it was still sometimes hard to think about that.
So when Justin mentioned it, she had to pause and consider her life in the mansion. At one point she hadn't wanted to move in because she was scared of not being able to provide for herself, for losing her independence. But realizing that she couldn't just go back to living alone in her apartment, she decided that she could give it a chance. "Yeah, I mean...it's kind of scary when I get lost in here but it's my home now. And my family's here, too." She was thankful for what she had, every day she woke up next to her husband and realized that she had it damn good. If she wanted to, she could quit her job, quit babysitting, and just mooch off of Josh. But the man himself knew very well that would not happen. "How does paella sound? I've been planning to make it sometime..." It was her favorite dish, and she had the ingredients in the fridge and freezer for a while. She just had to figure out if Justin liked it.

DEAD SET ON A GET-AWAY i'm dead set on a get-away It was lucky that Justin knew very well that she was teasing him. One of the biggest pet peeves that Justin had was any lecture about his lifestyle. The man was smart enough to think for himself, thank you very much. They thought that just because he was a young man, he was going to fail at whatever strange stunt he decided to pull. It was an insult to him. If anything, it was just making him want to put up a sign that said ‘just watch me’. In most cases, he just watched to the mouth go up and down as he too, nodded as if he understood any point in this lecture. Despite his reputation about being blunt, Justin knew when to shut his mouth when it came to authority figures. He knew because of all the buttons he pushed to ones he could. All about experiences. To think that there were those who were frowning upon him for it. It’s what made Justin the smart one.
He took a gentle mocking roll of his eyes, ”It is very healthy. During prohibition, everyone was super uptight. And dying all around to try to make up for what they couldn’t have. Now, I ask you Nell, what kind of life would there be without the excessive partiers?” He asked as if he were a teacher trying to explain to his students the importance of a bottle. Justin wouldn’t disagree that sometimes it was heavily overdone. Getting drunk and being a drunk were two different things. Getting drunk was fun. Being a drunk meant you were a fat man who was going to die alone for the jackass he was when he was drinking. That was almost impossible to regulate, but there was no reason for the rest of society to suffer because of none of them. Justin would have hated to live in that time period of prohibition. Such a tragic little tale. He would have been one of the dead ones after drinking too much homemade brewed moonshine. Besides- partiers were the spice of life. It was hard to deny that.
Justin actually laughed, grinning from cheek to cheek, although it was meant to be a serious question. ”Oh, I’m perfectly fine. This Justin is drama and stress-free. “ A miracle on itself. Justin had a really bad habit of dating a girl he liked, but then becoming bored or finding that he liked something else. On top of that, he was very pushy with the ones that refused him. There was only so far that he would go. For example- Justin was going to give it all he had for Morgan. However, the last girl he had dated, he wouldn’t have tried that extensively. He tended to a bit of a bad friend when it came to ‘guy codes’. They didn’t have a lot, but not kissing your best friend’s girlfriend was probably one of them. Sister was probably another one. In which case Justin had done in the past. It wasn’t anything too major, as he did say ‘we shouldn’t do this, we should stop’ but he hadn’t been exact forceful on the matter. But in the end, it didn’t really have much significance, now did it? ”No finals. Musical is on a break until next semester.”
It was hard to imagine not liking Nell, and Justin didn’t say that about very many people. She just seemed to fit well into any category you could possibly place her. Still, the alliances did cause some bit of a problem, didn’t they? ”Should have been a wind.” He taunted as if at birth she had to pick which one she had wanted to be. Justin knew there was a high chance of being a wind considering both of his parents were winds. But of course, winds were unpredictable even in genetics. He could have very well come out as a water element. Strange thing to think about considering his best friend would have been a fire if she hadn’t been part of the wind elements. At the mention of any wars, Justin shivered. One of his fears was that he would be the cause of an alliance war. Wind didn’t get themselves involved very often, but it wasn’t never. He would have to screw up pretty bad if he got his entire element against the other. At her comment, it made him ease and laugh a little bit, ”I think that line has already been crossed on your half. Just have to get the others to join the dark side. Or light side, depending on your perspective.” In his eyes, the earth and water tended to be a little lighter than the thunder and fire, but that was just a stereotype.
He was put into this giant bear hug. Justin looked down and patted her back, ”Good, then there’s nothing to fear on my end?” He asked. Her words in the same tone they had been passing back and forth, but her hug showing much more fierce words in it. Made him glow a little bit. To know that there was at least a couple of people out there that would actually miss him. Though he assumed that pretty much everyone he talked to would miss him, to have solid proof felt good. Not really growing ego kind of good, as that was easy enough to accomplish just by standing there, but the warmth kind of feel. Except now he was hot.
Justin looked over at all the animals as she rattled them off and only caught a little bit of it because he was focused on the names Balto and Pablo. ”Wow, that’s a lot of kids.” He mused lightly. For him, pets had always been like someone’s children. Many owners treated the pets like they were their kids. It was probably a nice substitute. Probably one of the things convincing Justin out of it. ”Are all them yours or does Josh donate a few aside from the fox.” Fox would be a pretty cool pet. Wouldn’t know what to do with it, he supposed. His eyes wandered over to all the pots and pans that she was bringing out and his stomach seemed to rattle in response. Justin flexed his muscles to keep the growing to a low noise instead of something to disrupt the entire room. Being a mansion, apparently, wasn’t as bad as it sounded. He huffed to himself looking at the tall ceilings. Unbelievable. Maybe if he ever got into the marriage deal, he’d be just as lucky.
At her food choice, he didn’t even blink another eyelash, as Justin loved to try new things. ”If you feel that is better than raviolis.” He mused. Perhaps it was the home mother cooking feel he liked of raviolis, but it was the thing he always ordered in a restaurant if he could really do it. ”I trust your judgment, amazingly enough.” Referring more to himself. He trusted a woman that had just recently covered her entire house in nothing but plants and vines. Funny how some things worked out.

GONNA GO TO BABYLON AND GET ME SOME WHISKEY
Because of the fact she sounded so serious seconds before, her next jokes might be taken seriously. that was if one didn't know Nell and that she didn't take anything seriously. She pointed her finger at him. Not the 'you're in trouble, young man,' point, but the 'now listen hear, sir,' point. "Hey, those people were getting their booze, they were just fine. Give credit to the bootleggers, man." Speakeasies and organized crime, that was the 1920's. The lost generation that Hemingway wrote of. All they did was drink. He posed a hypothetical, the world without heavy drinking and partying. She paused before saying, "I know there would be a lot less throw-up stains in my backseat." Not her Pontiac, which didn't even have a backseat, but poor old Gwen. Nell was the sober, responsible one that stole people's car keys. "And I can party," she said, holding her hands up to her chest as she nodded. "You clearly have never partied with el maestro, else you would know how hard I can go." So she was fibbing a little in the fact that she rarely got drunk. She stayed away from alcohol, and if not from alcohol, from high places. Her family had a history (as with everything).
Justin assured her all was well, at least, and she nodded quickly. "Good. Keep the drama on the stage, and all those other cliches." A fatal flaw of hers was worrying too much, something that the theater kid must know about, along with pathos and blocking and other drama things. She actually had little experience with it, in general. The most was working at the concert hall. The girl was a big fan of opera, Puccini being one of her favorite composers. Anything else? Well, she was not very experienced.
After drawing back from the hug, she held up her hands in the best, "All I know about karate I learned from Bruce Lee," stance. Like she would fight of anyone who threatened him. Logically, she couldn't. She didn't fight, didn't even know how to fight. "No way, you have nothing to fear, because I watch a lot of movies and therefore I have a lot of techniques for butt whooping." She swished her hands again in a roundabout movement, before dropping them. She was totally bad ass, it was just hard to see underneath the chubby cheeks and five-foot-two stature.
Him saying they might as well have little kiddies and then referring to the animals as their kids had her feeling...strange. She had come to accept that yes, she would like children but it was far too weird to think of that. "They are totally our kids. I mean, they could be good training, right?" She had some training herself, but it wasn't like she had actually attempted to raise anything save for animals with Josh. Again, she had this surreal feeling that she didn't know how to describe. "Four of the cats, Josh's. Pablo is mine. And the birds. But I mean, they're collectively ours. The Dale Ranch." He had the cats before she'd even met him, and the fox had been his idea. The zoo...well, that just kind of happened.
Nell threw her hands up. "I know, right? I want a genetic refund." The elemental roulette chose Earth for her, and the only explanation amounted to personality. Thunder and Water did not usually make an Earth, but she could delve into serious psychological discussion regarding nature vs. nurture and still never know. Sometimes she wondered if there was a higher power. No one could disprove it, so she considered the only fact to be this: Everything is possible until proven impossible.
Haven't actually heard his stomach's loud grumble, she was glad to hear that he was willing to try paella. "Oh, way better. It has seafood, if you're okay with that." Some people had allergies, and she didn't want to be the one responsible for Justin's throat closing up. She held out her wooden spoon, using it instead of her index finger to accuse. "Things you can trust me with: food, carpentry, and your taxes. Things you cannot trust me with: foresight." And directions. And being completely responsible. But she had to save face, here. "Come on over, big boy, gonna put you to work." She took out a tomato and set it on the cutting board. "You're in charge of fruit and veggie dicing. Can you dice?" If he hadn't much experience with cooking, she didn't feel comfortable with letting him dice up tomatoes when there was a risk of him lopping off his thumb or some other appendage.

DEAD SET ON A GET-AWAY i'm dead set on a get-away When she pointed at him, he half expected her to say ‘guilty!’ along with it. Seeing someone so small and cute pointing so officially like that made Justin laugh. Though he supposed he shouldn’t have talked about ‘small’ as in the male world, he was considered small. Not lanky, per say. Just not body building athlete that was found all over the place. Though there were plenty of people he was bigger than while he was pretty sure that Nell didn’t cross over the average woman height. If he wanted to, he could have used her as a resting place for his shoulder. Something that he used to do all the time with his little brother when they were still close. That’s what Nell was to him. More like a little sister. Then he thought some of their conversation and decided to take back that comment. Justin would never fully understand what it would be like to have a little sister. Little brothers were much different. He couldn’t have expected to know that much, but he was sure there were things they talked about that he would never bring up to his sister.
He ended up laughing with amusement, much like he would after a teacher tried to argue one of Justin’s opinions against him, which unfortunately did happen, ”Not everyone. Probably the poor souls that needed it the most. If I were homeless, I’d need a drink too. But I wouldn’t have the money or resources to sneak that in.” He lifted his shoulders in a shrug. The only part he really understood in history class were the things he had to act out. Very little musicals took place in the ‘current day’ or what fun would that be? Most of the classics were set to a time before all the technology they had before. There were a few spoof things, but Justin found those to be a little insulting. Yes, he understood that drama kids tended to get a little crazier than society would like, but that was no reason to point fingers and laugh. Years from now, all they knew was that they could be extremely popular and normal. Where would the world be then? Not to mention some of the cattiness that went on. Several people auditioning for the same main part gained a few cut throat unnecessary things happening back stage. What happened backstage- however, stayed backstage. Wouldn’t want the drama program get a bad reputation.
At her next comment, he just burst into laughter with a mix of disgust at the thought of it. ”Bring friends that can hold their liquor better. Or at least teach them to stick their drunken heads out the window.” Although he talked all mighty and high, there were several embarrassing moments where he didn’t hold his liquor well. Most of the time, Justin watched his alcohol content so the most he got was a stomach ache, but there was also those times were he wasn’t watching, and then suddenly, he was the average stereotypical drunk walking among the streets. He was one of those kids that would give no warning either. Then he would pass out and try to figure out what he couldn’t remember. Many times he just went through his phone to see who he called. Ironically, this was the beginning of how he got one of his girlfriends. Drunk calling. Needless to say, that had been the one to break his heart. As much as it could. Justin looked back over at Nell, trying to picture the pretty earth element with booze in her hand. ”Oh really?” He said as he might have a small child. ”You must call me next time this happens. I want to see for myself.” Hopefully he could join her in the partying, although that could lead to a large mess Justin didn’t’ even want to think about.
Nell seemed satisfied with his answer. He wondered if he should mention Morgan to her. He bet she knew just about everyone around, although Morgan wasn’t exactly all kinds of butterflies and rainbows around people. It could have been just around him, he supposed. But Justin was charming. If she didn’t for him, he wouldn’t imagine she wouldn’t for many others. ”You will be my social guidance if anything is to occur.” He told her. Most problems he would be able to handle himself, of course, but if there were ever a time he felt like he had nothing under control, he’d probably approach Nell first. It was hard not to. She was very social and most people accepted her no matter what element they were from. Even as she was talking about fighting someone, he would never be able to picture it. The day Nell S- er uh Dale got into a fight was the same day Justin was going to be an anti-social hermit. A theory that was possible, but probable? No.
She didn’t seem at all offended by the fact he called the animals the kids. There was no way he was going to remember who’s animal was bloody whats, so he just nodded and tried to look at least fascinated. It was interesting to see the pair having so many together. He supposed it was better than a bunch of children running around. ”Well this place is big enough to be a ranch, I suppose. It does concern me slightly why Josh has so many cats.” He tried to put it off as teasing, but it was an interesting little thing that he noticed. Having many cats was a symbol of someone losing it or finding themselves extremely lonely. Not many people had lots of cats for the sake of having many cats. Not to mention there was the fun little label of crazy that came along with it. He was sure that Josh could care less. The very few times the pair met, it had been strictly polite conversation. Not something Justin was all that thrilled with forcing, but for the sake of friendship, he’d do that one.
The thought of Nell controlling the wind was suddenly terrifying. When she went overboard with her powers, she ended up having a miniature forest in her house. When she got overboard with her wind powers, she would probably blow the entire house down. It wasn’t something that was easy to fix. Justin remembered one of his father’s stories about making a tornado that tore down his mother’s brand new house. That was the story that sparked interest and made him want to make a tornado right when he entered school. ”Genetics probably didn’t want you blowing a whole town down.” He mused lightly with a smirk on his face. His hunger was getting him enough. When she mentioned seafood, he grinned. He was rather picky with the quality of his food, but if all of it was good quality, then he would like it. If his favorite food was bad quality, he wouldn’t eat it. Simple enough. Whenever he had eaten at Nell’s, it had been all from scratch and delicious on a dish. Even as he thought this, she was rounding up some of the ingredients. ”Seafood is good. For the record, I trust not a single soul with my taxes.” He was planning to sit down and watch her, but before he knew it, he was being handed things. He sighed, ”Well I saw The Princess and the Frog. Think I can play prince here for a minute.” Truthfully, he was able to dice. He never knew what it was called before, but after his father’s death, he raised his little brother, which included the food thing. He just called it cutting it into small even pieces. Didn’t know there was a nice specific term for it.
OOC: I’m sorry I don’t know whats with Justin’s ramble muse lately this is ridiculous

GONNA GO TO BABYLON AND GET ME SOME WHISKEY
If Nell excelled in anything, it was history. Well, history and sciences. She enjoyed English as she enjoyed most subjects because she had taken to it from a young age. Her time had been spent in libraries and with her father, questioning him about the respiratory system and mitosis. But what Justin said was true, because when did the derelict and poor ever have it good? She nodded and hummed, "Verrryyy true," in a singing-like voice. "I don't know why people believe in prohibiting things like alcohol, didn't they see it would be doomed to fail? It's like everyone invading Russia and then realizing it's not gonna work because it's kind of cold." Especially because meanwhile, in other countries, they were making toasts to North America's stupid decisions. But she lifted her arms, shrugged her shoulders, and figured that that was the fault in the past -- no one saw when things were going to fail.
Had she known about Morgan, she would have been very pleased. And also worried. Because she knew very well that Morgan was a complicated person. Even though she started as just a babysitter for the girl's family, she considered them friends. Especially since she knew the secret she would hold close to her heart. And knowing Morgan like that, she understood that the other girl was strong-minded and well, Nell liked to use feisty in place of any other meaner terms. She always thought of her in the best way, after all. "As it should be, for I am the female Dr. Phil." she bowed gracefully. She didn't consider that might be a possibility for her life, to become a doctor of psychiatry even though she was currently majoring in psych. She just liked helping people and talking to people and letting them know there was someone listening. It was always nice to see someone ease up, like having a load off their shoulders.
Unfortunately, Nell didn't choose her friends. Because if one was not her enemy, they were her friend. It could also be said that she didn't choose her friends wisely, but that was another story for another time. "Or invest in those plastic coverings for my seats." She had two cars now, and she wasn't too against Gwen getting a little messy since her real baby was the PT Cruiser looking sleek in the garage with a purple paint job. She gave him the two-barrel gun finger point, clicking her tongue against her teeth at his comment. "It's gonna happen now. When I have time, really, now that school is back and that and work just..." She sucked in a large breath, "sucks up all my time." And that was not fun at all. When would she have time to party with Justin? It was a question that she could only answer when she saw her schedule for the week and shot him that decisive text.
Maybe it was because Nell thought so highly of her husband that she didn't catch anything amiss about Justin's statement. Ignorance was bliss, and she existed in the bubble that her friend was not bothered by Josh in the least. Though she could see how problems might exist, mostly because she related to Justin better in the way that they had similarities. It wasn't that hard. Neither of them were rich (well, Nell hadn't been rich, and she still didn't consider herself as such because she supported herself) and both were very social. She and Josh always knew they were opposites from each other, but it was something that helped them. "He's always been a cat person," she said, in a considering type of tone. That was perhaps the first thing she learned about him. Then she giggled, "But yeah, it sure is a lot! I'm happy to have them around though, cats are awesome when they're not shredding everything." Her tone was always sweeter whenever speaking of her husband, and the cats added to that made her just a puddle of feelings. She loved her family, husband, sister-in-law, pets and all.
She shot the Wind elemental a playful glare. "I see you have a lot of faith in my abilities." She held up her hand. "No, it's cool. I get it. Just don't be surprised if you suffer from a random poison ivy rash." She shrugged, and if she was at all a threatening person, Justin might have had a reason to be worried. "And you have a lot of confidence in your own abilities, huh, we could totally go at it and see who's up to snuff." It was big talk -- as usual for her -- considering that she didn't do well in spars even when they were for practice. Her element classes grade? Not top notch when it came to combat.
"All on your own?" she asked about taxes, pouring the bag of muscles in a pan. They were one of the most difficult things for her to cook. "Welp, impressive. My hat off to you, sir." Nowadays, she let Josh handle their taxes because this was still his house and all. Though she still liked to be involved, she remembered back when they were all on her shoulders. And well, there was a time when she evaded them completely, something she wasn't going to brag about. At the mention of Princess and the Frog, she clasped her hands together, wooden spoon between them. "That movie! It's wonderful, I loved the villain and oh, the songs!" She gave a little spin, holding up the wooden spoon as she sang part of I'm Almost There. Careful not to disturb him, she twirled over to Justin and lightly bumped hips with him before saying, "I didn't know you liked Disney films, hmmm?"

DEAD SET ON A GET-AWAY i'm dead set on a get-away Though his comment about the poor people somewhat amused him, he supposed he shouldn’t have talked. Becoming rich and famous was indeed one of his goals in life, but at that moment, he was middle class. If there had to be separation between lower and upper, he would probably be in the lower half just because of what happened with his father. But the man could make a living for himself. Justin was capable of many things. Whatever he did, in the end, set his mind to, he was sure he could do it. Though that also wouldn’t be the first time that he over estimated his confidence and it ended up being the biggest screw up there could have possibly been. Not making the lead role his twelve grade year had been a hard slap in the face. Everyone had been expecting him to get it (including the dude who actually got the part). He was in no means at a small role, but not the lead? That had been reverse of his usual. Been a hard lesson to learn. Justin wasn’t cocky enough anymore to think he couldn’t practice and still make it.
Nell was talking about a thing in history that made sense but he wasn’t able to place the specific time. Not that it was a big shocker to everyone else anyway. Justin wasn’t even aware if she was talking about a specific time. ”Or because Russians are fierce.” He told her. Russians were always dangerous because they didn’t care about the rules. The compassion that people here had. It was nice and everything, but the Russians looked at the general population. What was going to get the bad guy. And the other reason. Nell was right. It was real fucking cold there. The only people he knew that generally liked all that cold and snow were water elements, and most of the water elements were stuck here. Though at times he felt like Canada wasn’t any better for him. It wasn’t the wind he minded obviously. It was always what went through the wind. Which was a concept he often tried to tell other people. Destructive they could be, but all they would do is fly you around if you were by yourself. Hang onto a mattress and see what happened then was his best advice.
Justin wasn’t sure how he felt about phycology and how much it really worked. He would like to believe that just letting the human mind act as it pleased as every secret held dear was spilled out on the table in front of them. However, he didn’t understand it. Justin never had to have therapy, so he wasn’t sure how crazy minds worked in the first place, but he was certain that talking about it wouldn’t help. It was really the medication, wasn’t it? Something that biologically altered with chemistry manners. Not something like talking and having all of the nerves come as one. Something like that. Justin just hoped he would never have to find out for himself. The thought of losing his mind… that was one of his number one fears. ”Oh good. I was always more comfortable with talking to females about my feelings.” He said sarcastically, rolling his eyes playfully. The entire joke being quite frankly, Justin’s closeness with women wasn’t very far spread and expanding. Sure, he liked to talk, but feelings? He only shared if he felt like it would impress.
Justin made a face similar to one that he might have made if the smell of rotten milk had just entered the room. ”Don’t downgrade your car with plastic coverings. That’s like taking gold and deciding to protect it you need to cover it in bubble wrap.” He tried to picture his beautiful car in plastic covers. It about broke his heart. ”Just have your husband buy you some new ones. Isn’t that what he’s here for?” In Justin’s eyes, the only reason to really get married. What ever happened to arranged marriages? It was lost because of all the values of love. Justin discovered a long time ago it could change and warp into something different. So why would marriage be any different? This view of course probably wasn’t shared by Nell or he would be seriously questioning the woman he was in front of at that moment.
Justin laughed, ”Aw, don’t tell me you’re the one so serious into school that you won’t party on a school night?” He didn’t do it very often, but of course he was bound to do it. It was Justin. What else was he going to do? He tried what he had to, but just skated the rest of the way. It wasn’t likely he was going to have good grades on essays and such anyway because most of his teachers hated him enough to mark them all down. Which was one of the reasons he sorely missed multiple choice. ”Live a little. Just a little.” He said, putting his fingers together to show just how small he meant by it. Watching Nell go out and live like that would have been the greatest experience. Justin felt like if she was going to be anyway corrupted, it should be by his hand. By the husband’s doing was a little… backwards. Husband was for good girl sport, patting him on the feet and cooking him dinner like Nell was very good at doing. Friends were for the other side.
Justin had to let go of the cat thing. She didn’t see the humor he did in it. He just laughed to himself, shaking his head. She did understand the element one, in which he laughed more out loud in a small victory. Oh, she wished it were that way. There were treatments for ivy rash, though it really would have been horrible. Justin was pretty sure that a tornado- his huge goal as far as it went through his powers- would be a little harder to recover from. Not that he was wishing any house were to get hit. He just wanted to make one in the middle of a field or something. ”Oh, that sounds fun. I haven’t had an element dual since high school.” He told her, shaking his head and remembering him and the fire element fighting each other. Honestly, it hadn’t been much of a fight because they hadn’t been as advanced, but the detentions both of them received seemed worse than the exhausted teenagers felt.
She grinned. He just knew that Nell would know that movie. For her not to know it would indeed shock him. Nell just seemed to give out the vibe of watching a Disney movie every night type of thing. ”The villain was among one of my favorites.” If Justin were to be a villain, he would certainly be a cross between this and Gaston. To tease, he started off the melody of ‘Down in New Orleans, muttering lightly under his breath. Justin loved to sing. No matter how much shit he got for it, he loved it. The reactions, the feeling. Yes. He did this and made it beautiful. ”I’m a fan of all the films. They aren’t my favorite but I do indeed watch them.” He nodded, continuing to cut and make sure he wasn’t going to take off his own finger in the process.

GONNA GO TO BABYLON AND GET ME SOME WHISKEY
She stuck her tongue out when he spoke of being comfortable with talking to females about feelings. But hey, she could understand. The only difference was that she didn't talk about her feelings ever. Her feelings ranged between very happy and happy. "How about shrinks? I mean, Dr. Phil isn't really a shrink, I don't think..." He exploited people on television, and she didn't like that, which was why she'd only seen it a few times. "But female shrinks must be killer, huh." Not like she thought that she would end up as one, even though she majored in psychology. A lot went into it, mental illness was only a small part. She studied the mind in all its facets.
Justin teased her for being so into school, and she gave an exaggerated sigh. He was just a big meanie, wasn't he? "Yeah, I'm a square." She made the shape in the air with her fingertip. "Total loser. But hey, made it this far into college, do not want to screw it up." Though Nell couldn't say that she had big dreams (maybe she did, but they were just that, dreams) but she enjoyed the opportunity to have an education. It was nothing she'd ever experienced before, save when her father used to teach her. And now she could broaden her interests. "You are a bad influence," she told him with a sage nod. "Next thing you know, I'm going to throwing a party here and hanging off the chandelier." With the right encouragement, she would do anything. Just get enough vodka in her. She was like a Gremlin, though entirely with alcohol.
A laugh came from her when he spoke of putting gold and bubble wrap. He really did make her laugh, she enjoyed just being around him and listening to what he had to say. "Why not? I mean, gold on its own is kind of useless. Wrap it up in bubble wrap and you have a night of fun." She knew she wasn't the only one who found enjoyment in bubble wrap. Whenever she received a package, she was disappointed when all it came with was peanuts. She laughed again when he spoke of asking Josh to get her new seats. "I built that baby myself, I can do the seats too. Don't underestimate me, vato." She had a teasing tone in her voice, not adding the fact that she did not like to ask people for things. A combination of pride and the fact that she hated to be a burden.
At first, the idea of a duel might have made her stall. After all, this was her friend and she had had a lot of issues with control in the past, like a lot of elementals did. But she was stronger, and he could handle himself. Justin wasn't some weakling. He had good control over his powers, right? "That means it's happening." She did need to get better at it. She was campaigning to get better with everything, mostly with her blocks whenever it came to hurting people or fighting them. She did not fight, ever, and she hated to hurt anyone. A lot of points had been taken off in the past when she had to fight with someone else and she had retreated.
She giggled when he spoke of the villain. "Dude, no, he actually terrified me. Actually terrified." She told him, holding a hand to her chest for a moment. "Who's your other favorites?"She wanted to hear more about it, since secretly, she didn't know much about Disney villains. She felt sad sometimes when her friends would talk about them, so she had tried her best to watch as many as she could. The Little Mermaid, Mulan, and 101 Dalmations. She could do with some recommendations from her friend. "You need to be my film buddy, then! You've never seen my collection, have you?" She had a lot of movies, cinema was a passion of hers, really. One investment she was saving for was actually an old kind of projector.
With the food all done, she put it on the kitchen counter, proud of their work. It was one of her favorite foods, after all. "Bon appetite! You need to tell me if you like it, mmkay?" She liked to know her friend's tastes in food so she could make it for them whenever. It was one of her usual gifts, she was a provider of food. |
