[/img] Lately it had been way too stressful for Avery to be able to function properly. His mind was working overtime, resulting in him being distracted, which in turn affected his efforts at work, which in turn would get him in trouble—which he did not like. At all. He was like a puppy being scolded for not knowing any better. Avery felt helpless! Hopelessly and utterly unable to keep his mind straight and unclouded, and whenever he finally managed to do just that, something happens and it just keeps popping up in his head. It was a parasite, eating away at his soul.
At least this Halloween party would distract him from his distractions, if that made any sense. He just needed to be able to clear his head, and what better way to do that than dress up as someone completely different and just be scared on Halloween night? It seemed like a good plan, so Avery was more than happy when Nell and Josh invited him to their party. He faintly wondered if he’d be the only adult there but he also remembered Hiro mentioning coming. Which was a relief and a curse in itself. Hiro was his best friend and him coming meant that Avery had company, but… he also needed some space. To think. And to just forget about what happened that day. That was a lot easier said than done, however.
And so Avery stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his kimono here and there. He was going to the party dressed up as a geisha—and yes, he knew geishas were supposed to be girls. But men were geishas too, way back in the day. So Avery didn’t see anything wrong with it. He was comfortable enough in his skin to not even worry about being judged or anything like that. Besides, he figured the teenagers would be too drunk to even recognize him. Or scared out of their wits from Dale residence. From what he heard, they were going all out on the decorations, haunted house, and there was even going to be a maze! Avery loved being scared, so this was just perfect night! Though, he felt kind of sorry for Hiro. Avery liked being scared, but he was still scared. He was ten times more clingy than usual, which was probably impossible to imagine, but dammit, it was! One last adjustment and he was out the door, heading to the Halloween party as he tried pushing out all thoughts about Hiro and Mickey—
Too late.
Frustrated, he patted down his kimono with one impatient hand, his eyebrows furrowing in thought. A flash of that day appeared in his mind and he shut his eyes tightly, breathing in slowly as he remembered the intensity in their eyes. Just the thought of it made Avery shiver and he opened his eyes again, shaking his head. No. He refused to let this ruin his night. He wasn’t going to think about it anymore… he repeatedly chanted that in his head as he walked up the steps of the huge mansion, his mind now focused on what was in front of him. It wasn’t hard to get distracted with this place right in front of you! Avery grinned to himself, heading inside, and was greeted by loud, pumping music. He cringed slightly, but he happy nonetheless to get out of his empty apartment. Emptiness led to silence, and silence led to him thinking. And when Avery thought, he thought long and hard.
But he wasn’t going to think anymore. He was going to have fun, be scared, and forget all about how his ex-bully and ex-protector AKA his best friend and somewhat-confusing-relationship friend hated each other. And how much he cared for the both of them…
Great. He was thinking about it again.

One of Hiro's favorite days of the year. Hiro loved to dress up. Normally he picked a cool or attractive looking costume. Hiro wasn't the kind to do humor when it came to costumes. He was standing in front of his mirror in his room getting his fangs in. This year had decided to dress up as a Victorian vampire. Vampires of course were all the rage now a days but he'd rather be shot than go as a twilight vampire. The thought was rather disturbing. Since he was a fan of the wardrobe of the Victorian era it sounded like a good idea and he liked his look. Along with the outfit he had a skull cane, vampire contact lenses and retractable fangs. He also put on some eyeliner, or guyliner as it was called a lot times, to add to the look. When he was done putting in his fangs and contacts he gave himself a look at in the mirror. He thought it looked pretty good and could attract eyes.
Once he was done he made his way downstairs to grab a few things. The house was quiet. His sister Isabella had gone out with her friends. Hiro had made sure to approve of her costume. He wasn't about to just let Isabella out in anything of course even if it did make him look like a nuisance. When he was ready he was out the door. Hiro had been invited to Halloween party at the dell residence. Since the house was in the same neighborhood as Hiro's, meaning it was in mansion country, Hiro chose to walk to the party. It wasn't that far. Hiro wasn't exactly sure of who else would be their since he didn't know exactly who Nell and Josh had invited but he didn't worry about it too much. He'd figured he'd be able to make a night out of it which was something he really needed. Hiro had been so stressed a lately due to certain things some of which had to do with a few people in particular and one them being his best friend Avery. He hadn't really talked to Avery since after the small incident between himself and Michaelangelo. To be exact he had been sparring with Michaelangelo, or at least it had started out that way. Considering their common distaste for each other it had not been very surprising that what had started out as a simple sparring session between the two had grown in intensity very quickly. What had kept them from seriously hurting each other was Avery's sudden interruption. Hiro remembered very clearly Avery's expression when he stood between the two, fearful and desperate. Seeing that expression instantly took him back down a dark memory road, something that he did not enjoy thinking about and seeing that once he had brought upon such a look on Avery, even if it had been unintentional this time, was nothing something Hiro was proud about.
Hiro sighed as he walked down the street to the Dell residence. He had been trying to forget about the incident but of course the memories always found their way back. He had barely seen Avery since then, he hadn't really had the heart to face him. He did feel like he owed him an apology but then again saying sorry wasn't something that Hiro was all that good at doing. He had barely been able to swallow his pride once to apologize to Avery but in the end it was something he had to do if he really wanted to be able to call Avery his best friend. Would Avery be at the party? He wasn't sure. Hiro remembered mentioning that he would be going but didn't recall Avery ever saying the same thing.
Hiro finally arrived and before even stepping inside he could hear the music and was met by the loudness of the music. There were a ton of people and costumes here. He recognized some, some costumes were more out there than others. He walked around a bit, saying hello to a few people he knew. Smiling at some of the pretty guests. Ages very much varied in the place. As he was walking his eyes fell on one individual. One that he very much recognized. He maneuvered his way through people until he was standing behind Avery. He softly put his hands on Avery's shoulders in surprise. "You look good enough to eat my friend." he said slyly and playfully has he moved in front of the water elemental. "Happy Halloween." he said cheerfully as he brought out his fangs and then retracted them. He looked Avery over. "A geisha." he said amusingly. "If anyone can pull that off it would be you." he said encouragingly. Hiro wanted to try and keep the mood from becoming heavy or anything so he tried to stay in a cheerful mood. "I heard there was going to be a maze. Do you want to go check it out? I know how much you love scaring yourself." he said lightly tapping Avery with the end of his cane. Hopefully this night would go sour. |
