DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
He needs reading glasses, which he finds irritating and tends to lose, which in turn only frustrates him even more. He also has a tattoo of a wyvern on the left side of his ribcage, reaching from just below his hip to the lower half of his chest, which he got when he was 18. His two car accidents have left him with a series of small scars all over his body, the most noticeable of which are on his right knee, some from surgery purposed for the continued use of his knee.
CLOTHING STYLE
What Michaelangelo wears depends entirely on the situation; that is, he prefers to dress appropriately. When he’s teaching, he wears slacks and dress shirts, managing usually to appear professional. At any other time, he is usually easy to mistake for one of his students, as he prefers sweaters/t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers.

STRENGTHS
- Photographic memory — Once he sees something, he doesn’t forget it, whether it’s a face, a series of words or numbers, or a picture.
- Physically Fit — He’s been playing soccer since he was about five years old, and took up fencing in middle school.
- Thinking on the spot — Throw him in a cinch, and he’ll figure his way out, whether by fighting or with words, though he prefers the latter.
WEAKNESSES
- Horrible driver — He gets frustrated easily and doesn’t feel the controls in a car are natural; while he is able to drive, he’s gotten into two accidents before and now refuses to do so.
- Sharing — His secrets are his own. He keeps his emotions under wraps. When something’s wrong, he keeps it to himself.
- Comfort — He doesn’t easily provide it; when he tries, he tends to be rather awkward about it because he’s actually thinking about it.
- Lacks focus -- He has a hard time keeping his mind on a single topic for an extended period of time. Because of this, his classes frequently bounce from one topic to another and he sometimes looks like he isn't paying attention when he's talking to someone.
- Schizophrenic -- He hears voices. He sees people that aren't there. He has occasional paranoid delusions. He is easily distracted. He acts erratically. He doesn't take his pills (sometimes he's convinced someone is trying to poison him).
FEARS
- Complete insanity
- His siblings being hurt
- Death
- Losing a love
BEST MEMORY
Being accepted as a teacher at the academy gave him the chance to stay somewhere he felt safe and work close to the home in which he’d grown up, a home which also had public transport so he wouldn’t have to deal with driving. It also offers him a sense of stability and routine to help keep his mental ailment in check.
WORST MEMORY
When he got into his second car accident, not only did he almost get himself killed, he nearly did the same to his little sister, Hero. While it is also the reason he now has to deal with pains in his knee, he remembers mostly the panic that he might have hurt his sister. It is what has driven him never to drive again.
LONG-TERM GOAL
He wants to get a grip of his schizophrenia without having to take pills to control it.

HISTORY
His mother was an arts major when she was in school. She was a bit out there, and didn’t care about the prim and proper family when she fell for a construction worker who, while not possessing half her intelligence, loved her more than anything else in the world. Between the two, when their first son was born, the name was a bit of an issue. Sierra wanted something old and weighty, something to impress all those the boy met. Her husband thought this was a bit cruel, but loved her enough to strike a deal with her: they would take turns naming the children, of which they both wanted several. So, their first son became Michaelangelo Donatello Grace (the misspelling of the artist’s name was intentional, provoked by the fact that Sierra was working on a Renaissance display at the time), and the boy has wished for a different name ever since, although he knows it’d be very offending to his mother if he changed his name officially. So he just goes by a variety of nicknames. The only people who are allowed to call him Michaelangelo are his family members and those who are otherwise extraordinarily close to him.
As a child, thankfully, no one was able to say his full name, so this wasn’t much of a problem. His first few years, as a result, were relatively easy. He had a few friends, some of whom stuck with him later. He entered school, got moderate grades, played pranks on a teacher or two. He got his first kiss in kindergarten, when it was innocent and sweet and neither he nor the girl really knew what it might mean years later. When he was seven, his little sister was born, and he doted on the baby girl as much as his parents. Of course, the addition of the second child strained the household a little, as neither of the parents really made a boatload of money. When the third child made this even worse, Sierra went to her sister for financial assistance, and the doctor helped them out. She was the only one in the maternal family with whom Michaelangelo’s mother had kept in contact, though the busy schedule of the former made family time difficult. She never missed Christmas, though. Michaelangelo appreciated his aunt for this, and was glad for her presence when his father took up a second job to help out even more. For a while, it worked. Even when he came into his powers, on a difficult night when his dad said one thing after a long day and the wind slapped him in the face. He began attending the Academy, where his aunt had feelers as well (his mother had no powers and his father came from a normal family). In a way, he owes a lot to his aunt.
He loved the Academy. He loved his abilities and learning to control them, and he loved learning about the other elements, making friends with people from all the elements because he wasn’t too involved in the alliances. Why not take the advantage of being in the neutral element?
And then Michaelangelo turned 16. The first few month were normal. Being a teenager was difficult, but he focused on maintaining his grades in school and keeping up with the friends he had, dealing with the occasional troubles girls inevitably posed for a teenage boy who was fond of the social scene. Peer pressure got him started on cigarettes, At first, he smoked rarely. When he started hearing voices, he smoked more, loving the relaxation the nicotine provided. When he didn’t smoke for an elongated period, he started seeing things—people who weren’t there. He pulled away from his friends. He paid less attention to his little sisters, on whom he’d still doted. When his parents began to notice this, they had him see a therapist. While he didn’t trust the woman he began seeing, she eventually figured out what was the trouble and diagnosed him with schizophrenia. Because therapy alone did not seem to work, he was eventually put on anti-psychotics. Whether he actually took them became questionable. He’s still terrible at remembering when he’s supposed to get refills for the pills, and tends to ask for them when he doesn’t need a refill (or weeks too late) because he doesn’t actually take them when he can avoid it. This was an obvious problem for the family, but his parents didn’t see the point in forcing him to take pills for fear they would alienate him. They kept him in therapy and did their best to help him.
Because of the social issues resulting from his disorder, he lost a good majority of his friends. His last two years at the Academy as a high school student became solitary ones, a pattern that continued as he began to study law and criminal justice when he entered his college years. He couldn’t go through the same motions as some of the people he saw around himself, as driving was such a terrible experience for him. He got into an accident the first year he was driving, a mild one that his parents handled the insurance issues for. The second one, the one that nearly killed him and his sister and messed up his knee, pushed him off driving altogether. What was he to do? He realized he was too erratic to be a cop, though he wished he could be one, and decided that he could at least help future cops. He double-majored in education and criminal justice, which took a little longer because his schizophrenia kept him from amazing success and his grades weren’t exactly top-notch. When he graduated, his parents proud and possessing a fourth child, a brother for Michaelangelo of whom he never grew as fond as of his sisters, he spent a year away from the city he’d grown up in and explored what else he could do. He returned to the Academy at the end of the year and applied for the job of a professor. He’s been teaching criminal justice classes for the past three years, keeping to himself. His therapist died in a car accident, which only put him off driving even more, and the loss of someone so reliable shocked him to his core, making his smoking habits even worse.
