Ashley had honestly not considered babysitting. She was hoping for something that would get her more experience for job opportunities as well as a little cash but it was better then nothing. She then wondered about the school and if it had any kids. "What is teem pregnancy like at the school? Does it exist?" unlike Josh, When Ashley had a question, she asked it. She hadn't seen kids running around but that didn't mean there were no parents running around. Ash had been baby sitting since she was 11 which is under the legal age but parents never seemed to care, they loved her. Maybe other students would too, it might be a good way to make friends.
Ash was surprised at the man's shock. "What? Do I not look like a can play, or sing for that matter?" Music was unbelievably helpful with kids. They were always fascinated by a shinny blue guitar or the music that came from the piano, she had even given lessons which combined the two passions. "I don't write my own music or anything since that involves a bit more creativity then I have, But if you know of anywhere with a piano or a place I can buy guitar strings since mine keep breaking..." Ash trialled off getting lost in thought over her guitar. She was always afraid to leave it in the dorms in fear someone might light it on fire, but it was the only place she could keep it. Since they were back on the topic of his girlfriend she decided to ask, "Do you two have a song?" Ash had noticed that he didn't really like talking about her so she tried to make the question as general as possible hoping to get some kind of answer out of him.
When Josh said the clue Ash put her hand to her chin and tried to make it look like she was thinking instead of clueless and confused, she didn't even know what 'expository scribblings' was let alone a six letter word for it. Ash casually nodded her head no and reached over, grabbed his pen and drew another tic tack toe board. She drew an 'X' in the top coroner and smiled at him.

The Fire graduate blinked at her, rather baffled by the random question. Even though they had been talking about children he had not expected the conversation to take such a shift. Nevertheless, Joshua was a very calm person and took most things as they were—his surprise barely registered at all before he was replying, "I'm sure there are some but I don't pay much attention to the rumour mill." He shrugged. All he knew was that he'd never gotten anyone pregnant (thank god) and that he didn't have any pregnant friends. He vaguely remembered a few people with baby bumps but did not know them personally. Even if he had, Josh likely wouldn't have told Ashley about them. He respected the privacy of his friends. As for rumours, well, Josh didn't like to listen to them very much. There were rumours about him and it always irked him when certain ones started floating around about cheating on Nell, getting her pregnant, that kind of thing. He usually didn't start fights about them because they were stupid and obviously false but he didn't like it when people trash-talked his girl. It was the protective side of him again.
He furrowed his brow. "No," he said. "Where on Earth did you get that idea?" People always made incorrect assumptions with Joshua and by this time he was almost becoming used to it. He did not doubt the fact that she might have had musical talent, he'd just been unsure of what she'd meant by working with music. Some people liked to work around it as tech and merch people for bands or in record and music stores but it seemed like Ashley was more of the performing type. It did not shock him as much as she seemed to think. "The auditorium here has a grand piano," he said. "They use it for plays and such. I've heard students are allowed to use it if they ask the choir direction for permission." He'd never really done so himself because they had pianos at home. Patricia had taught him how to play. He could not write his own music, either, only knowing how to play by sheet music. "As for guitar strings, there's a guitar centre in the huge mall in the Hollow. It's near the back between H&M and the little floral shop."
Again, the question about him and Nell caused his guard to strengthen even more. Why the hell does she want to know about us? He couldn't help but feel suspicious because he was a suspicious person. What the hell would she even want with that sort of pointless information? "So what if we do? It would be our song, wouldn't it?" He arched an eyebrow at her. As a matter of fact, Nell and Josh did have a song that they enjoyed together, but it was not the usual romantic song or 'first date' song. Instead, it was a humorous number by The Lonely Island. He did not tell Ashley this. He didn't tell her anything beyond what he had said. Instead, he just moved on to the crossword. "Hmm..." He twirled the pen again and looked at the clue for 94-Across instead. A six letter word for 'Party Swinger'... Pinata. He penned it in, now knowing that the clue started with 'P'. Josh still didn't have an idea of what the word was and so he would have moved on to another surrounding clue to get more letters if Ashley had not drew another Tic-Tac-Toe board on his paper. He glanced at her, shrugged, then drew a circle in the top middle square.

Ash was disappointed to hear that Josh didn't pay attention to rumors. Ash was always interested in gossip but she clearly needed better people to ask. He was however very helpful when it came to music. "Thanks for the tips" She said with a genuine smile. She was glad they were actually getting along, she may be drunk but it was a lot better then before. "Do you play any music? She asked innocently finishing her water and resting her head in her hands. The pain was horrible and she couldn't wait to get out to get some Tylenol. She was going to pry more about Josh's mysterious girlfriend but footsteps down the hall stopped her. They were coming closer and Ash was nervous, she threw the empty water bottle out and looked froward as the teacher came in.
"Oh my, I wasn't aware there were students here. You too are suppose to be supervised. How long have you both been here? The teacher asked in a wise and trusting voice. Ash looked over at him then josh, then back to the teacher. "I've been here for around an hour, maybe a bit more. My friend here just walked in." She glanced over at Josh and his book putting an 'X' in the bottom left square. She wondered if her little plan would work. The teacher looked at the clock. "Well then I suppose you may go in about 15 Minuit's if that seems fair. And how long is your Detention sir." Ash was upset that the teacher didn't know Josh's name since she was dying to know it. "I will let you two play your games there as long as you're both quiet." He added before getting out a crossword book of his own. He was going to Sit down but realized he had forgotten to get coffee. He looked at them both and walked out, his look implying not to do anything stupid.
As soon as he was out of the room Ash laughed. "Your move by the way" She said referring to there game. She was honestly a little afraid he would get really angry but the teacher would be back soon so he couldn't attack her or anything. By the time he was back she would be let out so she hoped he made his move. She wanted to at least finish the game.

He did not know if she would consider his musical abilities 'playing' music—he knew how to play the instruments but he had never had any ambitions to go places with the skills. He had learned guitar mostly by ear and was sure his techniques might not be perfect seeing as he'd never taken lessons and the piano was something his mother had taught him, a bonding between them. "A little," he decided at last. "Not much." It was all she'd likely get out of him on the subject if she didn't start asking specific questions and even then he might shut her out. Josh didn't like talking about himself, it was made quite clear in the way he gave only short answers and didn't offer up any useful information about himself unless people inquired. Sometimes not even then. He was not ashamed of his musical interests and certainly didn't fear that she could use them to manipulate him, he just didn't see why it was any of anyone's business whether he was tone deaf or otherwise. It wasn't like they were even friends.
This was proved a moment later when the supervisor walked in and Ashley told him a blatant lie about how long he'd been in the room in order to get herself out much quicker. "That's a lie, I've been in here longer than she has and it's not even been that long!" He tried to keep his voice low and to a minimal snarl so that the supervisor would not scold him for being loud or talking back. His protest still sounded vaguely outraged, however, because he was. A gray glare swept over Ashley for a moment, glittering with dislike. And to think I was actually being pleasant. He didn't know why he bothered with some people. It was better to just be a jerk to them all so that they'd leave you the hell along. "Two hours," he said, handing him the pink slip to prove it. "I'd say I've been here about thirty minutes so far and she came in about five minutes after I did!" He was not usually someone that would bother ratting anyone out. He wasn't the type. If Ash had kept her mouth shut or at least told a lie that didn't get him stuck here for another two hours on top of the half hour he'd already served then he'd have left it alone.
"Are you telling me the truth?" He supposed that he could see the supervisor's confusion as there were two different stories and no witnesses to either. Then something occurred to Josh—he'd been sent down here by the headmaster. "Ask the headmaster, he sent me here directly." He knew it could have potentially hurt his case since it let on the fact that he was in more trouble than just a simple late slip but he didn't care. Not many students were stupid enough to skip out on detention when they were sent by the administration themselves considering they were usually on the fence for suspension or even expulsion. Even the thought of being expelled from the Academy made him feel sick. He needed this place, needed his education. He glowered at Ashley as the supervisor left. "What the fuck was that all about? I don't give a damn about the game, I'm more concerned about the fact that you're a liar!" He closed the book and stowed it back into his bag, ignoring her with a stony expression.
When the supervisor returned with his coffee, he looked at them both skeptically. "The headmaster confirms that he met with you around thirty or forty minutes previously," he said, "but how am I to know whether you came straight here?" Josh was not entirely sure how to prove it. There was no one but Josh and Ashley in the room and there had been no one around when he'd walked in alone. The place didn't have cameras, didn't have a need for them seeing as it was always supposed to be under supervision. He felt a prickling irritation and dislike for the supervisor, seeing as none of this could have happened had he been around in the first place. Admittedly it was a boring job to just sit and watch a bunch of sour-faced teenagers all day but it was inconveniencing him at the moment so he was quite irritated. "How do you know she's telling the truth?" he replied. "She's the one who's been drinking—that's what she's in for, you can probably still smell it on her breath."
[Josh is noooot very happy right now xD]

Ashley glared at josh as he tried to sabotage her plan. "Hardly! think about this professor. This boy here is in detention a lot! Of course he would try to drag me down with him but I've never even done anything to warrant a detention other then this the entire time I've been at the academy." Ashley was absolutely determined to pull this off and would do whatever it would take to make it happen. Like she had already decided, it would be her goal to make his life hell. She listened to Josh tell the truth and started to try to fake cry. She looked right into the teachers eyes and looked as hurt as possible hoping to score some empathy points. Ash felt confident in her ability to lie out of this but was unsure at the same time. It's not like things like this were new to her, it was just that it had been a while.
When the teacher asked if Josh was telling the truth she tried to regain his eye contact with her sad innocent eyes and nodded her head no subtly. Ash went into a bit of a panic when he mentioned the headmaster. This was new information and she probably wouldn't have pulled this shit if she had known that. On one hand this dumb teacher could surely go check the facts but Ash preferred to hold on to the hope that the headmaster was a busy individual and had no time for the likes of this small argument.when the teacher left Ashley dried the fake tears from her eyes and smirked at him. "come on I was so close to winning too!" She let out a small laugh. and looked him right in the eyes. "Come on hun, you can't tell me you didn't see that coming. Think about this, about me. you honestly can't be surprised." As footsteps could be heard down the hall she put on a fearful face and wiped her eyes some more to attempt to imply that josh had threatened her in the supervisors absence.
With Josh's words came two simple facts one being that She was not the only one he was mad at, this could play in her favor. The other fact was that she had planned for this. He had set her up for the perfect way out; at least in her mind. Ash stood up slowly looking as nervous as possible and walked up to the man. "It's true sir, that I'm in here for drinking but this is my first detention since arriving to this school. Being a fire I've naturally been forced to make friends with whoever would befriend me. I will admit that maybe my past decisions were not the best but I am working toward getting past my problems." Ash had gotten as close to the mans face without crossing into his personal space as possible. Since she had started drinking she had been constantly chewing gum and drinking water so her breath was, for the most part clean. it had been her mistake the first time and she wasn't prepared to make it again. She tucked her hands behind her back as the teacher smiled at her honesty. Knowing her hands couldn't be seen she flipped Josh off.
"There is of course no way for me to be sure who is telling the truth but after hearing both sides I must ask the both of you how we should proceed. you both seem to be mature individuals, what do you think we should do?" The man sat on the desk in front of Josh's and Ash returned to where she was sitting beside him. Ash was uncomfortable with this. She had hoped that she had scored some brownie points by coming clean in the web of lies but she needed a back up plan. If Josh failed to come up with a good idea she would suggest they both stay another 30 minuets or something along those lines. The more honest a person she looked the better off she was.

Joshua's left hand clenched into a tight fist as Ashley continued to try and manipulate the professor, talking about how he'd been in a lot of detentions compared to her in an attempt to paint her in a better light. It ticked him off and he had half a mind to lunge at her, but common sense reminded him that he'd definitely get more time if he did that. So instead, the Fire elemental closed his eyes and breathed deeply, releasing the breath in a shaky exhale. "I've also been attending the Academy for six going on seven years, whereas you've been here a few months. It's a moot point." He'd avoided detention in his first few months because he'd been more focused on learning the layout of the school than getting involved with any of the crowds. Then he'd adapted to a Fire's way of life and the troubles had started up. Besides, what should it matter how many times he'd been in detention? "And I've never lied to get out of one recently, so you might have broke a record." The professor gave him a look that suggested it would have better if he'd kept his mouth shut and Joshua glowered, seething silently.
He glared daggers when she spoke, his gray eyes smouldering with anger. He'd have quite liked to take himself up on the earlier urge to strangle her now that there was no one around to witness it but again he fought his instincts down. Anger was a terrible and often uncontrollable thing but he had possessed his temper for years now. He couldn't prevent the anger but he could sometimes stop himself from hurting other people in the process. It was a small improvement. It would be a bit more convenient if it worked all the time, but hey, you take what you can get. "No, I can't say I did. What the fuck was that all about? Playing the innocent schoolgirl? Please. You're about as innocent as a fucking porn star." His tone was scathing. "And don't call me 'hun'." He hated pet names, especially from people he hated.
He merely rolled his eyes when Ashley started to play innocent yet again. Her attitude was sickening him. "I'm a Fire elemental, too, you know. There are more crowds than the one you hang around." Joshua knew that and he was sure that she did too—she was probably just lying through her teeth. He ignored her flipping him off. How mature. She was a lot younger than him but that was besides the point. Your age meant nothing when it came to maturity. Hell, even Josh could display a lack of maturity at times. Everyone acted childish on occasion, it was more about how often that was.
He frowned at the professors words, not having expected to be asked an opinion. "I'll stay for as long as I was supposed to. I have been here for half an hour, whether you choose to believe me or not, and I don't exactly intend to leave. I'd be expelled if I skipped." His tone was perhaps a little more sarcastic than he'd intended. His arms were crossed over his chest so that he had something to do with them other than strangling Ashley and his expression was a mask of neutrality, trying his damndest not to let his anger toward the pair of them show. He figured it probably wasn't working out too well. "And what do you think?" the professor asked, looking expectantly at Ashley. Joshua was unable to tell what the man had thought about what he was saying.
[Didn't want to favour either of them so I was being careful xD]

Ashley could tell she was bringing Josh to near his snapping point and she was absolutely thrilled about it. She put on a face of pain and sadness for the teacher. "He would say something like that to try and make me look bad. Please think about this, it isn't fair." She didn't really know the relevance of what she said but it seemed to fit. The teacher however was beginning to look incredibly unamused with how long this was taking to sort out so Ash stepped down. She had pushed enough for now, stepping back after his last comment will make her look better. She wasn't sure why she was so set on making his life hell but she sure was having fun with it.
When the teacher was gone and Josh exploded Ashley burst into laughter. She couldn't help it he was so mad. Her eyes got wide when he called her a porn star though. "Aww, you think I'm hot enough that guys would watch me fuck other guys while they played with themselves" Ash was twisting the words just to be difficult. She winked at him when she was told not to call him Hun. "OK, OK I've had my fun. I'll fix it" She sat at her desk beside him and tried to stop laughing, to get some kind of fake front going before he came back. She had had her fun causing trouble and just wanted out now. The teacher returned and looked at them both. Josh was mad and she hoped he would rant on for a little bit but he seemed to have good control. Ashley yawned and decided to end it.
"What about giving us both a fair amount of time to stay, say half an hour. That way you are sure we have been in here for a fair amount of time." She looked over at Josh hoping to get some kind of telepathic insight into his thoughts, she didn't. The teacher seemed to think this was a fair arrangement. "I will be back to check up on you both periodically in the next 30 minutes." He said in a strict sounding voice that didn't even phase Ashley. She nodded and he left.
Again, once the teacher was out of the room she turned her body to face Josh. "There you go Mr. Mysterious, you can chill I managed to get us both out like an hour early." She batted her eyelashes and pointed to the game board. She may have enjoyed getting him really angry but she also knew he could kill her is he wanted so she figured at least this way she could keep her life.

Joshua pressed his lips together in a tight line, aiming to keep his mouth shut and not to irritate the professor any further. He wasn't going to play innocent like she was but he also knew that it wouldn't do him any good to continue insulting her or insisting that his way was the right way. It was true that he'd been honest but the man before them had no way of knowing that. I'll just make it worse for myself if I argue. He resisted the urge to sigh and irritably resigned himself to whatever was going to happen next. Joshua valued his education—he didn't want to be expelled over something as stupid as a detention with Ashley. She had lied, true, but was it worth being kicked out of school to try and prove her wrong? No, even Josh wouldn't take it that far. So he merely shot her a foul glare and kept his thoughts to himself.
"Actually, I was insulting you." He didn't really see the appeal of having sex with other people for the entertainment of single guys. He'd never really been so desperate, not even when Nell had been holding out on him. He was no prude and a sex scene in a movie would hardly phase him but the idea of watching a porn flick alone was just... no, it was not his style. He much preferred having a girlfriend to anything so depressing. It wasn't that he saw porn stars as particularly bad people, he just... he didn't understand them. So he had definitely been insulting her. That said, Josh knew that she had only been pulling his leg and trying to irritate him. His lack of humour and serious nature were a stubborn response and a refusal to take the bait again. He knew that he would snap if she riled him up too much—hell, he'd already done it once. Who was to say he wouldn't do it again? Then you'd really be expelled. God, he hated even thinking about his options if he was kicked out of school. It would look bad on future college applications and his medical school one and—and yes, it was best to just stay at the Academy.
He did not reply when she said that she'd fix it, wondering what the hell she meant by 'fix'. Ashley proved her words to be true when she convinced the professor to let them go after half an hour, and he frowned at her when she spoke after he'd left the room. "I hope you're not expecting any thanks," he said, not very pleasant in tone or mood. She had ticked him off and righting her earlier wrongs did not change this. Joshua did not tend to hold grudges but in the moment where he was angry with you, not much worked in your favour. He tended to simmer for hours and snap at the slightest of things. "It doesn't change the fact that you lied in the first place. Playing innocent with him by lying through your teeth? Even I wouldn't have sank that low." He ignored the game entirely, not in the mood to play with someone who'd just done a good job of royally pissing him off. He didn't want to be in detention at all but he'd have taken a second, full-length detention over half an hour spent with her. She had gone a bit far in backstabbing him, that was for sure. To think he'd tried to be pleasant!

Ashley rolled her eyes. She knew she was being insulted but it didn't really bug her. Although josh may not have understood the appeal in that kind of thing, growing up in a rich town where wives and husbands were always away on work it wasn't uncommon to see porn pages left open in offices or even in your own house. "Really? You were insulting me, sorry I'll try and take you seriously next time." Ash wasn't even trying to be mean. The words came out how you would joke around with a close friend or family member even though they were neither of these. Ash was starting to get really hyper after the teacher left. True the booze had started wearing off but she also hadn't gotten much sleep in the last few days so she assumed she was catching her second wind. Ash was one of those people who was addicted to addictions, or at least the idea of them. She was the type to have a constant need to destroy not only her self but her surroundings along with it. Although this did get lonely and challenging it was also the worst kind of fun.
As josh was going on about not saying thanks and her bad lying all she could think about was how much she wanted to poke him in the side really bad, or lick her finger and stick it in his ear. She wanted to run circles around the room making airplane noises. Of course she didn't do this, she had something much more immature planned. "Hey... hey, hey you, you over there ya you what's your name? Do you know your own name you should tell me. Hey hey hey hey hey you you you hey you tell me your name hey tell me tell me tell me your name Mr. Handsome mysterious guy tell me your name please please please and thank you." While ash continued this crazy thoughts were going through her head. He is gunna kill me, He might actually kill me I'm terrified. Would he really risk killing me? What am I so afraid of anyway? Even her thoughts were manic. She was sure that he was annoying him and wondered if he would ignore her of do something more scary. Either way she had no plans to shut up. They had a whole half an hour left together and Ash had made it her personal goal to see him snap or get his name. Whichever came first.

As Ashley spoke, Joshua was focusing most of his energy into his powers and their restraint. He had much more control than a high school student and wouldn't accidentally set the desks on fire in a rage but he was also seriously debating the risks of blasting Ashley with a heat wave, just for the hell of it. Realising in the more rational process of his thoughts that this was not as good an idea as it sounded, he kept his attention trained on restraint both to control himself and to better shut out the annoyance that drove him to such a point in the first place. Did he hate Ashley? Well, hate was a pretty strong word. He still couldn't say that he loathed her, but there was certainly a lot more animosity and dislike than there had been when she'd first walked into detention. He had tried to gloss over things to avoid a fight, it had been she who had made things all the worse for the both of them when she decided to open her mouth and lie. He was no vindictive Thunder but he had every plan to somehow remind her that he wasn't someone to be played around with or manipulated.
If there was one thing Josh hated, it was anyone who tried to manipulate him.
He also wasn't quite as easily provoked into an outright rage as the girl seemed to think. Joshua was certainly an angry person and he had violent urges to boot but it was not as easy as pushing his buttons—especially not when those buttons were practically programmed for self-destruction. He valued his education a lot more than he valued shutting her up right now and so he merely rolled his eyes when she started to pester him. "I can see why the children like you so much," he said scathingly, not looking at her. "You act just like one." He had no plan on giving in to silence her. He wasn't withholding his name like some best kept secret and he might have told her if she wasn't someone he disliked. There was no reason to introduce himself to an enemy. If there had been someone else in the room—someone he did not harbour any bitter feelings toward—and they had inquired about his identity, Josh likely would have told them.
Block her out. The thought was surprisingly calm for his mood. Libraries and classrooms could often be disrupted when some of their occupants decided to hold loud conversations and so he'd trained himself over the years to focus even through ruckus in the background. Lips still pressed together as if held by industrial glue, Joshua reopened his book of crossword puzzles and flipped to a fresh one, answering the first clue after a pause. If you think I'm going to make things worse for myself for your sake, you're wrong. Besides, he didn't know her name either. Nor did he care.

Ashley was getting board and fed up not to mention exhausted. She sighed and stopped talking putting her head on the desk facing josh. She made a mocking face at his words. Part of what he said however was true, children were drawn to immature and fun since it made them comfortable. Kids like to feel grown up, if you act overly grown up with them all the time they can feel small. Just because Ash had stopped talking true but that didn't mean she was done. Ashly stuck her finger in inch away from the fire's face and left it there for a moment before announcing "I'm not touching you."
Ashley was just as upset about spending the next 20 minuets or so with josh so Ash closed her eyes "would you be against the idea of me having a bit of a nap? That way the time will go bye faster for me and you won't need to deal with me." It seemed like a good idea to Ash so she rested her head in her arms. It felt good and really did something for her headache. She hoped Mr.Mysterious would wake her up before the teacher got back but she already new he wouldn't so there was no point in asking. The only thing with a point right now was to have a nap.

If Ashley had wanted to convince Joshua of her maturity, her continued antics were no way to accomplish such a thing. His jaw clenched tighter when she held her finger an inch from his face but he persevered through his irritation, keeping his gaze fixed on the crossword puzzle as if it were his lifeline out of the detention. If he could just keep himself from snarling at her then everything would be alright. He almost wanted to grab her finger and bend it back until it broke but Josh understood this was wrong. He was temperamental, he was not an absolute idiot. 24 down... He penned in this entry as well as two of the clues adjoining it. Having enjoyed crossword puzzles for years, he had gotten better at coming up with words quickly—much like a fan of Sudoku puzzles would steadily become quicker at filling in the right numbers. It was irritating thanks to the fact he could see her finger in his peripheral vision and maintained the desire to at least slap her hand away but he was trying his best. Please. If I was this easily irked I'd have been expelled years ago. He saw Ashley as juvenile, irritating. He did not want to be around her for another second, let alone half an hour.
That being said, he was almost surprised when she asked his opinion on her sleeping. "I'm not going to tell you what to do," he scoffed, speaking for the first time since he'd called her out on her immaturity. Joshua was not her babysitter in this detention room and he wasn't going to boss her around like one. Frankly he didn't care what she did. He'd prefer if she slept. He went back to his crossword puzzle, quickly losing track of time in the renewed peace and silence. It was true that he didn't think to wake her and so his first movement was to glance up when the door opened and the supervisor returned. "Your time is up," he announced to them both, glancing at Ashley when he noticed that she was asleep. He didn't seem to care in particular. Josh didn't say a word for or against the girl, merely poked her with the blunt end of the pen—he figured the supervisor would disapprove of stabbing her with the pointed one—and clearing his throat. "We have to leave." He did leave at that point, not stopping to talk to her on the way out.
