Harlington Samuel Buchanan
Well, I'm not too sure where I got Harlington from. xD I lovelovelove the name Harley but that kinda sounded like too much of a nickname and not an official name, so I just added "ington" to the end and viola! He's based off of one of my other characters, though; well, more like a combination of two: one for the name and one for his personality (and actually three if we're going to make height a factor).
His middle name is Samuel because omg the name Sam/Samuel <333 I about made it his first name, but eh, I couldn't decide. And Buchanan, once again I'm not too sure why I chose that. I knew someone once that had that last name and I guess I just really like it a lot more than I originally thought, so I chose to use it.

Post by KNOX CAESAR KETILL on Dec 9, 2012 1:32:49 GMT -5
Knox came from wanting a name that started in "k" but didn't necessarily have the hard "k" sound. I also remembered the spell from the Harry Potter series, and sort of fell in love with the name as a whole a while back. Ketill came from searching babynames.com for interesting names that started with "k." Originally, he wasn't going to have a middle name, because I know how unfortunate it would be for his initials to be 3 Ks. Instead of a "k" therefore, I gave him a soft "c" with Caesar, which I thought was also interesting as being one of the infamous Roman emperors, though I don't think the two have anything in common.
Michaelangelo and Donatello were both artists (though it's technically spelled Michelangelo), which I thought would be appropriate for his mother's background. I've always loved the name "Michelangelo," in part for all the other nicknames you can break it into. Once I decided on that, I went ahead with Donatello because it fit along with it, both being long, and the syllables rolled off the tongue well together. Grace came from what I felt was a necessarily short word that would need to punctuate the name, and I feel like it fits fairly well with the other two, while also being different enough from them to make a point of some sort.
Raine Sophia Ellison happened entirely on accident and only after I had posted her app and that it had been accepted did I realize the humor in her first name (Raine --> Rain --> water falling from the sky --> she's a water elemental). I've always loved the name Sophia, which has to do with wisdom or something in the Greek, and Ellison just felt like an appropriately "rich"-sounding name that flowed well enough with the other two.
It was originally actually Jamie but he rebelled and it ended up being "Aren" instead, which I liked because it was a unisex mixture between the male Aaron and the female Erin (which is how I personally pronounce Aren anyway). For a short while, I considered actually moving his middle name "Nova" to be his first name, but by then he'd grown rather fond of his first name and it became his middle instead. That one I got from the stellar phenomenon of the supernova, as astronomy has always fascinated me and I love the word as it is. "Kael" as all thanks to Avery being is adopted daddy.

RIDLEY EVANNA FREY
Ridley came from a book I read a while back called 'Beautiful Creatures'. Ridley was different, I'd never heard it before so it stuck with me! I wanted something that sounded kind of cool and edgy and not very girly, which is why I chose that name for her. Evanna is just Eva + Anna. Minus the extra A. Ridley is just a younger version of another character I have and her name is Ana so it's sort of a nod to her. As for Frey, I just liked the sound of it!

kennedyonce upon a time, jesi went to an honor band fest and met a girl named kennedy and they became great friends. jesi really liked the name kennedy for a girl's name and so decided that she would have a character named that, seeing as she was weird like that. anyways! i got beaufort from searching for "french last names" since i intended for them to be sort of french-Canadian. her middle name just came because it sounded good in the middle, but my other really good friend's middle name is lynn as well.

Post by RACHAEL MARIE CALLAHAN on Dec 12, 2012 2:26:56 GMT -5
Rachael Marie Callahan: Well, to be honest, I was really just drawn to the way ‘Rachael Marie’ sounded when said together. I never intended for her to be called both names at once, but I find I rather enjoy it when two names can be said together with ease. Something that comes out naturally is always appealing. Callahan is an Irish surname that I’ve always sort of fancied. One of the meanings behind the name is contention or strife, both words that are rather fitting for the character I was creating. Rachael’s past is filled with infighting amongst her family, and although she is now free of them from her life she still has to carry around her family’s name. Sort of an annoyance to her whenever she hears someone use her last name.
Hunter Douglas Ulrich: Hunter has always been one of my favorite names ever for a boy. There is some very adorable about it when a boy is young, and also cool enough to a teenager to live with. The meaning for Hunter is quite obvious and I went a bit tongue and cheek with Ulrich since it is an old Germanic name meaning rich, powerful, and power of the wolf. Since his father is part of a super rich community, I found it was fitting to have a name that played up that aspect of Hunter’s life.
Lena Eve Conley: Conley is the last name of my own english teacher, and since she's a stand up woman, I figured I'd steal her name! Eve comes from the Adam and Eve story in the Bible. Since Eve is a super flirty character known for breaking the rules from time to time I thought it would be funny to have her middle name reference the first act of sin. Lena came from my love of Lena Headey, who I almost used as her Play By. Again, I just enjoyed the way each name sounded together.

Post by LARK MARIE HARPER on Feb 18, 2013 3:36:48 GMT -5
So I'm bored and tired, but not tired enough to sleep. So I'll entertain myself with this for a bit.
LARK MARIE HARPER || I honestly kinda threw her name together, I guess. For Lark, I wanted to liken her to a bird, something that felt...beach-y since she's originally from Hawaii. Not that Larks are beach birds. I don't know..my train of thought was simply there okay? Marie was random, just something I picked because it flowed well. Her original last name was actually Hawaiian but because people tended to spell it wrong I went for something simpler. Went into the common last name database and Harper fit. Bam.
DEVIN JAMES THATCHER || Devin is just a favorite name of mine~ Working in the daycare I came across a lot of names that I kinda stored in the back of my mind for character creation purposes, and this was one of them. James is actually my maiden name, a bit of my family tossed in. And Thatcher is from William Thatcher from A Knights' Tale. One of my favorite movies, and a nice homage for Heath Ledger since he's so awesome.
ADAM EVAN RIZZO || Alright so for Adam, again I simply went with a name I liked--I went to Bible names for inspiration and this one stuck. Evan is my brothers' name. Well, one of the five. It rolled off the tongue well enough, so I thought 'why not?' and my brother was pretty flattered. Rizzo is actually Italian for "curly hair"; I had chosen that name when I created Asher (who was around before Adam), who had had curly hair. So it fit. Luckily it matched well enough with Adam's first and last names too and yay!
GRAYSON TUCKER SCHULTZ || Pffft, again with the favorite names. Grayson was my brother's childhood best friend and the name always stuck with me and I don't know why. Tucker is actually my dog's name, who I basically consider my furry son since we don't have kids yet and I've had him since he was a puppy. A good little way of adding him into my roleplay. And Schultz is my cousin's last name. I searched through the last names of my friends and family on facebook for inspiration and that one stood out the most. It suits the German heritage I was looking for as well.
CARSON PARKER GARROWAY || Alright, so I did something a bit different for Carson. I decided I wanted a C name, and although she's a female I wanted to give her either a unisex or masculine name for history purposes. It was one of the first names on the list and it caught my attention. Parker is simply a name I like and held true to the masculine thing I was going for, and it flowed well. Garroway is actually an Old English last name (one I found on a Medieval last name site). When I first made Wesley, her older brother, on another site I wanted something to suit the day and age of the roleplay. When I realized that I needed to add another girl to the mix of characters here on AotE, I used the family names from the other site and created Carson instead of Wesley.
And there you have it~ Not really amazing or anything but...I guess it's cool to see how people decide on character names. :3

Post by YUKI ROZU AKIYAMA on Feb 18, 2013 21:15:36 GMT -5
Yuki Rozu Akiyama Yuki was the name of the playby and I thought it was cute so I ran with it. When I was creating the character with Era I got this image that she loved roses and gardening so I picked the Japanese word for Rose. Akiyama means mountain and since the university and school is on a mountain I went with it. I rather like the idea of Snow (winter) Rose on the Mountain.
