Elaine could hear well enough to have an idea of what he was doing, but she didn't move. She heard him sitting up from his position she hadn't realized he'd taken on her floor. Her brow raised a little bit, but that was all the outward emotion that showed as she stopped wondering exactly why she felt so drained. The power she had used just then were at her limit—they were the things she did when she was trying to practice both her power and stamina at the same time. She did those things once or twice on a day that she knew she wouldn't have to use her powers again. It was a wondering she wasn't heaving her breaths.
She heard him pull his shirt off, then listened mutely as he made grunts and groans of pain. She concluded after a second that he was checking whatever damage she had done. Fully expecting a blast of anger once he was done, Elaine pulled her head down a bit, gaining a stony expression of preparation. Oh, how she wished she could make herself stop shaking! But she couldn't, and everytime she tried she just started shaking more. So she leaned further against the desk and waited silently. Elaine didn't run away. She didn't get scared....right?
He stood and came over, and it took almost all of her self control to keep herself from cringing with guilt. Horror was filling her from the fact that she'd done that to an almost-friend. It wouldn't have bothered her it she'd legit been fighting him, but this was a friendly sparring session. She was getting ready for the sound of his footsteps to become the sound of his yelling, but then she felt a soft touch on her hand. Her head raised sharply, her eyes widening with surprise. She didn't turn her head toward him, but her hand did twitch obtusely with the effort required not to pull it forcibly away from his own. He kept doing that....
He voice was very gentle. ”I'm fine.” She said out of habit, though her tone was not nearly as cold or closed off as it usually was during this sort of situation. At least he seemed genuinely concerned. She immediately grabbed the bottle he set by her, not needing anything but her ears and her sensitive hands to locate it, open it, and bring it to her mouth. Though very careful not to let it spill, she chugged half the bottle without bringing it away from her lips. That helped a lot with the shaking, and she was able to sustain much more of her weight.
She shook her head fiercely when he asked if she wanted to talk about it. No matter how hard she tried, she'd never been able to tell another person when she was afraid. It was a pride thing, or a vulnerability thing, and not even Celia was exempt from it. The blind girl's poor aunt had just had to learn to read her. Which was hard enough. After taking a few deep breaths, she said quietly. ”I'm done for today, Ace. Thanks for the spars.”

Ace hopped up on the desk and sat beside her. And he listened to her soft voice as she said she was fine. It was different it sounded warmer than when she talked to him before. He wanted to say liar but felt that it was probably too soon for him to go out declaring that she was lying. Not the best way to keep a girl beside you. He sat there in silence before he grabbed grabbed all the water that had spilled into the room and used it to keep the swelling of the bruise down.
When she shook her head he knew he shouldn't ask about it. Maybe she would tell him on her own. He wanted to know, he wanted to help her. Damn his Messiah complex, whenever anyone was hurt, sad or afraid he always had to help. Ace looked at her when she said she was done, " That was a hell of a punch. " He said trying to lighten the mood "I haven't been hurt like that in ages." He said and it was true he hadn't been bruised that bad since he took on a pretty strong thunder kid. "Well do you want to spar again, maybe next week? I'll be healed by then."He asked hoping she would say yes. He liked to spar with her, it was a challenge to do so. He also thought she was rather pretty and wanted also just to spend time with her, but that was just a tiny reason.

Elaine winced a little when Ace mentioned how major her punch had been. She knew he was actually trying to make her feel better, but all that made her think of was the fact that she'd hurt him. She sighed, shrugging a little bit and muttering, ”I'm really sorry, Ace.” She had a habit of getting defensive when she felt like she'd done something wrong, but she was mature enough to have boundaries. This was not a situation in which she could spin around and blame him for something. Or be a jerk and just pretend she hadn't done anything wrong. That would have been worse.
He asked her if she would spar again, and she hesitated. The bit of fear left over made her want to shake her head and say never again, but the truth of the matter was that she had been enjoying herself immensely. After a second's pause, she let out a breath and nodded. She smiled a little, ”Yes, and next time I'll try not to kick your butt quite so soundly.” At least she could already joke about it. Ace was a very comfortable person, so she was already feeling like she wasn't so stupid. It was just a mistake.
Once she felt like she wasn't shaking too much to walk, the blind girl stood on her own two feet. She took a couple cautious steps, then smiled a little bit more. ”Alright, I'm good.” She went to fetch her shoes, put them on, and then turned back toward her friend. ”We can meet weekly, if you want. I'd like to learn a better approach to attacking, and if you want I can show you the balancing techniques I was taught.” With that she waved in his general direction and left the room, heading straight to the dorms to take a long nap.
((Alright, now we need another thread. You wanna go straight to the kissing thread or do you want a flirty one first?))
