Jacob couldn't help but grin at Alex's ability to laugh about almost blacking out. Giving him a playful shove, Jacob answered, ”Your eyes were closed, genius. How was I supposed to know whether or not you were conscious?” He'd just been talking to Alex in order to not splash him in the face if it wasn't necessary. He knew what being drenched in the middle of winter felt like. And it was not something he would want to inflict on anyone. Except, maybe, a few of those thunder chaps. And one or two of the fires. And that wind guy who'd smothered him back in high school. But no one else.
He sighed, looking humorously exasperated with the boy, ”Yes, I'm supervision.” He was, though he wasn't sure how good at it he was. He was no teacher, so he couldn't give Alex any tips other than those that worked for him as to controlling the water without fainting. And he was no doctor, so if something did go wrong, the most help he'd be would be to carry Alex to the medical wing. He could do that, but it would be rather troublesome. ”But other than being an accomplished water elemental, I really don't have much to offer to these situations.” He had a little first aid training, including CPR and such, though. He'd jumped for those courses as soon as he realized that he would need to take care of his sisters by himself.
He clapped Alex on the back again. ”Good boy.” It was said with a bright grin that showed absolutely no mocking intent. He knew that those words strong together stung some people's ego's so he wanted to make sure with his body language that that was not how he meant it. Alex seemed to be a nice kid, though. Jacob sincerely doubted that he would react badly to anything without good reason.
Jacob nodded, ”Yes, you did. Some water raised itself about an inch above the lake, then fell when you fell.” He was actually impressed the Alex had managed that without even looking at the water. He should probably be looking at what he did from now on. Things went bad when an elemental was not sure what they were doing. People got drenched, burned, electrocuted, tangled up in vines or throw against the walls by hurricane-force winds. But Jacob was sure that one of Alex's teachers would tell him this, so he kept quiet. No need to make him feel bad about an accomplishment.

Listening to Jacob explain that he had no idea if alex was conciouss or not because his eyes were closed gave alex an idea for later. "Well If I ever pull a stunt like that ill make sure to keep my eyes open." Alex listened to Jacob saying he was supervision although he had nothing to offer. Alex assumed if needed Jacob would be able to drag him through the snow if needed. Alexander took the oppurtunity of Jacob patting him on the back to use his idea. Alexander fell with his head in the snow eyes closed lightly as if they were naturally closed and acted like he wasnt conciuss. Alex sat there for a few seconds then sat back up. "Dont drench me!" Alex said actually worrying about getting drenched with water it wouldnt feel very good right now as it was so cold out. "Sorry but you gave me an oppurtunity and i took it." Alex said with a grin. His grin grew a bit bigger when Jacob said some of the water had raised "Cool i've only ever done that once y'know and i already told you about that time." Alex said this in all honesty if it werent for that time he wouldnt be here now and he would be dead so it was a happy moment at the same time as a sad one for him.

”Well, that might be a little more difficult than you think.” Jacob said, chuckling. He found this kid extremely amusing, and very much refreshing. Someone who would just sit and talk and not be worried about a half a dozen things at once. Jacob had always found stress-free people infectious, so he'd definitely make a habit of hanging with Alex. He had too many stress areas in his life right now to pass it up. ”But you can try.”
Jacob actually jumped a little when Alex dropped to the ground again, actually believing for a second that the exhausting had caught up with him and he'd really fainted. But when he looked closer, it was rather obvious the boy was pretending. Jacob broke out in a grin, readying his hand to command the water. When Alex straightened up once more and gave his plea, Jacob shook his head. ”Too late.” And with a flick of his wrist a wave of water had drenched the poor boy.
He gave Alex a few seconds to sputter and possibly rage, then flicked his hand the opposite way. Every drop of water that was on Alex fled from him, jumping back into the water at Jacob's will. That was the great thing about being a water elemental; Jacob could insta-dry anything he wanted. With a teasing grin, Jacob said, ”Sorry, but you gave me the opportunity and I took it.” He shrugged a little, still teasing the poor freshman with his eyes. ”And yes, but this time next year, you should be able to do something like that with very little effort.” Jacob barely had to think to move water anymore.

"Well I dont know how easy it will be and dont plan on it being easy." Alex smiled as he said this he was talking about something that could be in the distant future for all he knew yet he enjoyed it. Alex chuckled a bit when he felt Jacob jump next to him. "Ah!" Alex yelled as water drenched him it was so cold. Alexander shook his head really fast then got an idea and went to give Jacob a hug to get him wet too. "Aww man thats no fun." Alex said as the water flew off of him in reality he was glad that the water was off him though. "Hey! I said that." Alexander said laughing at the same time Alex had said those exact words not even 10 minuites ago. He remembered being woken up by getting drenched with water once for no real reason and laughed to himself. That memory was one that he always liked to remember as him and his brother werent fighting or anything like that it was just a happy time. "Does it really become that easy for us?" Alex said asking if the element was easily controlled after your first or second year of the academy.

The kid's reaction was exactly what Jacob had been picturing. Either that, or it was better. Alex shook his head very fast, throwing water everywhere. Jacob had to throw up a hand and stop the water in order to keep his clothes nice. He might have been very surprised and a little unhappy about the whole hug thing, but his quick hand stayed the discomfort. He laughed at the boy, ruffling his hair fondly. ”A true water kid, you are.” He said with a grin. ”You're gonna fit in just fine.”
He nodded knowingly, ”Yes, and then I said it. Funny how that works.” There was a great amount of humor in his eyes and his smile, even though his tone had been falsely philosophical. When Alex asked about the powers, he nodded again, his demeanor changing from teasing to ever so slightly business-like again. He said, ”Moving the water the same way you just did? Yes, easy. And you'll be able to do a bit more than that. Getting to my level? Well, let's just say I've been training very hard for six years straight, and figured out a few tricks of my own.”
It was rather a part of him now, his water control. He barely had to exert any effort if he was merely moving water around. Creating water was getting easier and easier for him, now about as hard for him as moving water had been in his senior year of high school—which was to say, not very hard. The only very hard thing for him now was manipulating ice for an extended amount of time, especially on a large scale. He could do it, if he was willing to be exhausted for awhile afterward, but until he'd worked his control on that better, he'd probably just stick with normal water in a pinch.
”Now I don't want you to try this.” Jacob said, giving Alex a 'no-means-no' look that was very much akin to that of a father's. He stood as he continued, actually gaining a look of concentration as he pulled a small sphere of water out of the lake. ”This is something you can look forward to, but if you try at this point, you could probably kill yourself.” Using his power, he pulled the sphere into two halves of equal sizes, then changed their shape into those of arrows. Then he frowned and they turned to solid ice, floating in the air for a few seconds and then zooming off across the lake with a flick of his hand. They went as fast as if he had shot them from a bow, but he actually felt the effort from that, and knew that if he did stuff like that for more than an hour he'd need to go to sleep before using his power again.
