Uh oh. Something about what Jacob had said had set Phil on guard again. He didn't know how long it would take her to come out again, if she put her walls up. So he was silent, giving her a slightly apologetic look which he hoped would suffice. He didn't exactly know what words would bridge whatever gap he had just created—it was simply an observation. He hadn't meant to make her feel self-conscious or embarrassed. With a slight sigh, Jacob wished—not for the first time—that he understood exactly how girl's minds worked. Then he might understand just how those words had offended her.
The prolonged silence was getting to him, though. Normally the cheerful one, quick to a joke of an easy phrase, Jacob was truly not used to keeping quiet and waiting for another person to let him know what would be an acceptable....anything. But he just continued to watch Phil, part of him completely satisfied that he was able to just be here on this beautiful morning with her. Another part of him really wanted to say something, to do something that would make her more comfortable, but he was too afraid to. Lastly, he had a part of himself that was scolding him for all manner of things, from getting involved with a girl who was obviously not stress-free to thinking all cheesy about her minutes after he'd even realized he liked her. But he ignored that part.
A slow smile was forming on his face without his knowledge, and his gaze became more focused as he really looked at her. It was like so many things about her had changed that morning. Though he could barely catch her words, catch them he did. He gained a softer expression, surprising himself with his words and his sentimental tone, ”I might just be able to.” There was a pause, then his smile grew a little wider. ”For instance....You are a very beautiful young woman.” He used woman this time, instead of girl. Girl was a good tease, but he was being serious now.
Jacob laughed at her response to his question, smiling at her with renewed humor. ”Heated up.” He echoed, obviously pleased and amused by the term. He took a step toward her, gaze still on her own. ”Yes, you could say it 'heated up'.” Nothing about his demeanor was suggestive or oppressive. He genuinely just felt a need to be a little closer to her just then. But he held himself back after that one step, allowing the short distance to stand between them. An image of her running away from him popped into his unwilling mind, and he decided again not to push her too far. He still wasn't sure what her raw spots were.
She turned around, giving him a much better picture of the tattoo than he'd had before. He gained a bit of a blush when she told him to move her bra straps, but needed no more encouraging than that. Phil wasn't one to tell a person to do something she didn't want them to do. So he stepped toward her, standing just behind her as he gently pulled the offending articles out of the way. Though he was looking at the tattoo, it was hard for him to focus on at first. But then he gave it a better look and nodded. He usually didn't like body markings, but this was different. Phil wore it differently. It wasn't like something she'd gotten on her body as a rebellion or as a statement. It was like it belonged there.
The young man slowly pulled the straps back in place, then dropped one hand and let the other run down her arm lightly and find her hand. He took a single step back and used that hand to turn her around, his head ducked a little to catch her gaze. When they were looking at each other again he let that same smile from earlier back onto his face. Then he said, ”Did you really mean that? That you care about me?” As said before, he knew she wasn't one to say something she didn't mean. But he was giving her a chance to back out of it, as it were. If she said no to this question, he would back off and give her no grief about it. But if she said yes, then he would see it as permission to try and steal her away from the beast.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | he was working on her in ways that she had never imagined and that she would have never even thought possible if she hadn't know about her feelings and the feelings that he held towards her. she had never taken part in a relationship before so this was a road that she had never traveled before, a road that her mind had never even thought existed. philomena had been sure that her life was going to be spent with kieran and she would have to be content with her severely limited possibilities that her future had to offer. jacob was opening a door to a whole new route that her mind hadn't been able to take in before now. it had been a done deal that kieran dayton would be the man that she would call her husband even though her feelings that she had for him were far form affectionate. it made her stomach lurch to imagine a life where she would wake up and roll over to find kieran laying beside her and having to go through her day admitting to everyone that she was the not so proud wife to the infamous kieran dayton. jacob was the alternative to the future she wasn't pleased to slide herself into. would it be too soon to say that she was beginning to feel some sort of hope spark inside of her? philomena felt something surging inside of her and it was casting an illuminating glow inside of her.
the heat of his gaze was unsettling, once again birdie could only relate his stare to the feeling he was peering directly though her. he seemed to drink her outer appearance in with decadence and then enjoy himself with sifting through the very contents of her soul. she ran her hands up and down her arms, feeling goose bumps forming on her skin. it wasn't from the cold, they were solely caused by jacob and the way he was peering at her. a smile slowly crept onto his face, philomena was assured that he had received some sort of confidential information that philomena had been reluctant let her hold on loose. "i honestly feel like you are piercing my soul. i've never had that happen before... phillie was unsure, murmuring her words softly before her mouth clamped shut and she didn't release her thoughts like she would have normally done. he called her beautiful and it sent her emotions plummeting over the edge. phillie dropped her gaze from his warm smile and she raced to cover the blush that was creeping on her face. he had managed to lit up her face to the shade of a furious red. "t-thank you." birdie couldn't mentally recall any situation where she had ever been left speechless and blushing. a laugh starved of air sounded from her and phillie moved her feet restlessly in place, the things that jacob were causing her to do were alarming but it all felt so pleasant and natural.
the tattoo was something that philomena was passionate about and she would race to defend her permanent marking if anyone had worked up the nerve to question her on the topic. thirteen was a young age to receive the first tattoo and it would have been typical for someone to regret the decision they had made to eternally ink something onto their body. the raven that spread out gallantly on her shoulders was a tattoo that she would always be proud of and flaunt off if someone asked about the meaning behind the ominous bird. the raven was the emblem that colton had chosen to resemble the bird family and all of the confidence and cunning that they family was recognized for. phillie loved the sight of the raven on her back and would turn her back in a mirror at a number of angles to take in the sight of the fierce looking bird. "i don't think i'll ever get any other tattoos. the raven was the exception to that rule. it's so meaningful," philomena gushed, rushing to fill the silence with anything that would remotely relate to the conversation. jacob was pushing her off of her usual behavior and it was obvious by the way that she was acting. phillie was standing before spilling out random tidbits of her life that she typically would keep safely nestled away from prying hands.
it was unexpected to feel one of his hands gently slide down her arm after placing the straps of her bra back onto the curves of her shoulders. philomena shivered slightly at the touch, no one else had placed their hands on her like that before. she wasn't adjusted to tiny affectionate gestures from men. her mother would always pull her into tight squeezes and kiss her softly on her cheeks but that didn't compare to the way a man press his lips against hers or meaningfully touch her. he grabbed at her hands and philomena found that her fingers instinctively twined with his and the two of their fingers seemed to fit perfectly into each other. it was like they were two puzzle pieces that the edges clicked together without any protest. it was a silly comparison but the smile on her was was absolutely brilliant. he twirled her around and when she came to face him the smile that was set on his face robbed her momentarily of her breath. he questioned her and she gave him a serious nod. "i do believe that i care about you. what i believe in even more is that you can make me happy in a way that kieran never could." she spoke the words slowly, reveling in the fact that she was speaking the words and sincerely meaning them. she loosened herh and from him his and then balanced herself on the tips of her toes. phillie reached out her thin arms and wrapped them tightly around jacob's arms. she pulled herself closely to him and buried her head into his chest.

Jacob couldn't help but chuckled quietly when she mentioned he looked like he was piercing her soul. Though he was aware he had a very powerful personality, impressing people with his presence, he had never heard anything like that before. He was just...looking at her. He didn't know how else to explain what he was doing, just soaking in everything about her, not just her looks but her air and her aura and her. Goodness, he was getting a little caught up. When she called her attention to it the second time, he looked away for a couple of seconds, then looked back into her eyes. Hopefully less intensely this time.
But it was adorable how she was getting all flustered. Phil, not knowing what to say. If this situation had been a little less tense, Jacob might had shook his head and laughed right then. But as it was his smile softened, and he nodded when she finally thanked him. He did break out in a grin when she looked away from him, her face going red. Whoops. He understood how it would have been a little much to handle for her; he didn't imagine she'd had much of this sort of interaction with the opposite sex in her life. Though she was always so calm and assured and confident, Phil really didn't have a sturdy foundation when it came to this.
If the next subject had not been something that was comfortable for Phil, Jacob might have just lost him self control and hugged her. He wanted to give her some sort of safety or stability—he knew he didn't like feeling extremely vulnerable like that. But just as the inclination was growing in his mind, his tall stature leaning forward very slightly, she started on about her tattoo. His purpose deflated, and he let her have her space for just a little while longer. He couldn't help but laugh a little as she spoke more her tone changed from guarded to almost wishing to fill the silence. She was uncomfortable, and yet conducting herself so well. Though she blushed, she still spoke well and stood her ground.
”So what does it mean?” He asked, both from curiosity and from the face that he didn't want his silence to make her feel even more unsteady. Though he was tempted, he did not outline the shape of the bird on her back, instead just committing it to memory and moving on. It surprising him that Phil so easily took him hand, having thought she might pull away from him touch, even though she admitted that she liked him. Then again, she had just thoughtlessly started stripping to her knickers in front of him, so bashfulness was not one of her virtues. His one fingers cooperated with hers, twining and fitting perfectly with her. It was cheesy thought, but Jacob could not help but smile at their joined hands for a few seconds before looking back up at her.
At which point he felt a little stunned again. That...smile. He was so hit by it that he lost his for a second, promptly replaced by a brilliant grin of his own. Now that he was standing just in front of her, she seemed so small, the ten inches he had on her only now just wriggling it's way into his notice. She was tiny. And then she spoke, and his heart warmed at the words. Then he had to exert all of his self restraint not to point out that just about anyone could probably make her happier than Kieran would. He was a....he was a dick.
Jacob accepted the hug, bending down and wrapping his arms around her. He liked the feeling of her face in his chest, her body in the protective hold of his arms. It made him feel like he could actually do something to help her. Like he was actually fulfilling what he had been vainly trying to do for the world in this young woman. He though again about the position she'd been placed in. The emotion caused him to lower his face to her neck, leaning against hers in a further attempt to comfort. He certainly wasn't going to make this easier. Better, hopefully. But not easier.
It took a few minutes for him to be able to respond to the urge to let her go. When he did, he backed off just enough so that she wouldn't have to look straight up to see his face. He took a long, deep breath, then spoke again, saying words that he really wished he didn't have to say. ”Tell me what you need from me. I'll go with whatever you want.” He took her hand as she said this, acutely aware of the part of his being that was screaming at him to just go deck Kieran in the face. Maybe lure him to the lake.... And for that matter, her father, too. But he kept those thoughts completely under wraps, instead opting to let her take control of her own life. Another deep breath, ”What now?”

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | this conversation was becoming easier for her to insert herself into now she felt like she had every reason to feel at ease around jacob. philomena was in a relaxed state, feeling more laid back at the aura that jacob was emitting. she was pulling at the stitches and loosening the tight hold she had over the cover that withheld all of the information she deemed as private. who could she even list as a person that completely held her trust and the secrets she was unwilling to speak of? the count of people could be called a confidant for philomena could be ticked off on a single hand. cynical was the word that was written in bright red and clearly shown on her forehead for everyone to see. birdie wasn't eager to try and fill the silences with information about herself, it was purposely peeling back the layers for someone to get a good look on the raw and fleshed out parts of herself. it was uncomfortable and made her hesitant to proceed in stepping forward into this relationship with jacob. it would be uncharted grounds where phillie had never dared to step foot onto and someone else would be walking beside her. never would be completely self reliant again, someone else would be beside her for to lean against and ask for support when she was growing too weak. it was a journey for two that would mesh together to be considered one, that made phillie even more dubious yet it was something that was terrifyingly appealing to her.
they both were staring down at their hands, taking in the sight of his colossal sized hand and thick fingers twined simply and wonderfully with her petite hands and slim fingers. she had naturally drawn her hand to his and the way their hands folded together seemed just the way that things should be, something that didn't need to be questioned or poked at with curiosity. philomena was smiling silly at the corny of the corny thought of their hands practically being made to fit with each other. her eyes were looking directly into his and philomena could clearly trace the bewilderment that was marking up his face. birdie kept her eyes trained on him, her smile remaining and fueled to become even brighter at the astonishment she had caused to spread on his face. she kept her fingers twined tightly with his, unwilling to let the hold she had on his hand to be released. he seemed nothing but curious when he pressed on the topic of her tattoo, which made phillie wary but instinct but because it was jacob she was conversing with an answer could be allowed. "the raven is the insignia of the bird family and the logo for the bird flight company. the tribal raven on my back is a tattoo that all bird's receive when they are thirteen. it's a tradition that is centuries old. inducted family members, like wives and husbands being added to the lineage by marriage don't have the tattoo. you have to be a genuine bird," birdie slowly explained, spilling out a lot of information but content with the explanation that she had given.
the embrace was bliss, that was the only way that phillie could properly describe it. he wrapped his arms securely around her and that only caused birdie to press herself closer into him. her arms were tightly squeezing around his neck and the hold he had on blossomed a safety that she had never felt with anyone else. she almost groaned with reluctance when jacob detached himself from her and pulled away to allow her a bit of space. he was still standing closely to her but the distance that had been created put a slight pout onto her face. the pout then transformed in a blooming smile when he took hold of her hand again and she threaded her fingers expertly through his own. the words that were paired with this action sounded grim to philomena and the smile on her face transformed into a light frown. "you don't have to do anything. i just want to be with you," she said firmly, the words sounding assured even though she hadn't given any thought before uttering them. she was beginning to fall back into a brooding stage, running the extra efforts she would need to perform to keep her budding relationship with jacob secretive. she closed out the thoughts when jacob formed another question that burst her solemn thinking. she turned her stare back up to him and she met him with a coy gaze and a faux bashful smile. "if we're going by cliches here shouldn't this be where you kiss me?"

Truly interested, Jacob watched her closely as she spoke about her family. He'd never heard so much about her personal life at once since he'd met her. Sure, he had never had that tattoo revealed to prompt the information, but it was still a good feeling. This girl was actually showing signs of opening up to him. Far and away from actually telling him about her feelings, and the little things that came from deep inside her, but she was still inching along. And Jacob could be patient when he wanted to be, unlike a whole lot of waters. His eyes flicked from hers to the mostly-obscured tattoo and back, ”Yours must be a much more important family than I realized. Will your children get the tattoo at thirteen, as well?”
He didn't know if the fact that she would not pass on her family name affected it or not. He figured that the answer to his question was no, though, as he had not met any other people here with that tattoo. Centuries of out breeding would have produced many more of these tattoos if that were the case. This made him wonder if she felt a little pang that she wouldn't be able to pass that on. Her family pride would have to adapt to the one her future husband gave her. And at that, he felt his own pang, imagining her as the 'proud' wife of a Dayton. Especially that particular Dayton. Jacob shuddered despite himself.
She made a little not-groan when he let go of her, and his face immediately broke out in a grin. Already giddy by the fact that she had just admitted she liked him, he was barely able to hold back the urge to just grab her up and spin her around. But he did resist, instead letting out some of his energy by giving a charming wink and squeezing her hand. ”Don't worry, Birdie. I plan on doing that many, many more times.” She seemed to take his words a little differently than they had been meant, but he kept a smile on his face all the same. It really didn't matter. She had already shown that he wasn't to take a specialized role. At least, not any more specialized than it had just become.
He gave her a crooked smile, tilting his head a little bit, ”My guess is that for now, you do not want me shouting this from the rooftops?” It pretty much killed Jacob to think of her still dating Kieran and being bullied by him, but at the same time he knew he would have to give her space to take things slow if he wanted her. If he started making demands about what she do with her life, he was terrified he would strike the same chord that Kieran did and drive her away altogether. So he swallowed the pain, taking it like every other medicine he ever had. He shoved it out of mind, out of sight, and decided to take the fall in order to be strong for her. Just like when his parents had died.
Her coy smile and falsely timid demeanor lead him to the correct thought before the girl had even opened her mouth. Phillie spoke, and Jacob's smile grew wider, more interested, and a little withdrawn. He could not say truthfully that the thought of making out with her right there and then had not already crossed his mind. But he raised his chin, giving her a teasing smile, ”Now, do I look like I'm the type to kiss an engaged woman?” Well, in this case he was—and the fact that he was planning to was apparent to anyone who knew him well. But it was always fun to tease, his free hand moving to ghost about her jawline and then rest lightly on the side of her head, thumb on her cheek.
The man looked down at her fondly, waiting a few seconds before a new thought gave him a curious look. ”Have you ever been kissed before?” He almost hoped not, thinking that if she had it had to have been Kieran. And if that was the case, she wouldn't have enjoyed it at all. Not to mention, he rather liked the idea of soon being the only person she'd ever kissed. But he kept himself quiet, refusing to move forward until she'd answered him.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | her family, the bird family. her parents, siblings, her aunts, her uncles, her cousins, her grandparents. the bird family was one of the most crucial components of philomena's life. she held all of her family up on a high pedestal and respected everyone who haled from the bird family. the tattoo that was presented proudly on her back was placed on various body parts of the family members that were spawned from the direct lineage. birdie thought the world of her aunts and cousins, and grandparents that came from the bird family. the generations had slowed and now the heritage was dwindling but the birds still carried themselves proudly and with zest and confidence. jacob posed a question regarding her tattoo and phillie's face lit up. he had talked her into explaining her family and now she was eager to given an in depth explanation. "my family means so much to me. the bird's are also placed importantly in the world too." she tried to speak humbly but she couldn't deny the affect that birds had in the world. her father alone was one of the most influential businessmen in the world. she furrowed her eyebrows next, thinking about the future of her children. "i intend to keep the bird name. my children technically would still be allowed to receive the tattoo."
her hand was securely fastened in his and she wouldn't be quick to let the hold she had on him go. phillie could clearly see that she was going to develop a feeling of greediness when it came to jacob and the interactions that she would have with him. the grin that she presumed had been caused by her fueled her to place a smile of wonder on her own face. even the slightest trace of a smile that could be found on jacob's face could put a huge smile on her face that any way else wouldn't have been able to be worked out of her. the wink that he sent her way actually worked a stifled giggle out of birdie and she audibly groaned. she sounded like a giddy thirteen year old when in reality she was a composed seventeen year old. damn jacob, he was prodding at reactions and emotions that should have been stirred up when she was a hormone driven teen. "i'm not worrying at all, believe me. i will be expect plenty of embraces from you then because the feelings that caused was absolutely wondrous," phillie spoke slightly breathless, the whole experience still sinking in and leaving her feeling like this was a 'too good to be true' type of moment. she gave his hand a gentle squeeze and talked herself out of the impulsive urge to twirl around jacob. the kiddish squeals and bounciness that had been pressed on her were all sorts of new feelings to her. it felt amazing. absolutely amazing.
this relationship was the very definition of the word risky. philomena had been pushed into an arranged marriage by the hope of her father and the dayton's. it had never been her choice, no thirteen year old girl wanted to think about her wedding day. well no thirteen year that was like philomena bird. she had only carried through the ridiculous expectancy to keep her father satisfied even if secretly she had no intentions of following through with reciting vows to kieran. her father was an important person to her and she would carry on with false pretenses if it would all leave him momentarily happy and feeling fulfilled. "i can't keep you form doing anything. i have no control over what you can and can't do," phillie seriously answered to the joking question that he had poked her with. she wouldn't try to domineer the relationship that was forming between them. it wouldn't be where she "wore the pants." naturally she could take control but in something intimate like this that would be downfall of their bonding. "i would appreciate it if your lips were kept sealed though. secrets can be fun, right? especially this one." phillie stared intensely at him then her eyes softened with a glimmer that was solely focused on jacob. this was a secret that she would hold dear.
he was joking about her marital status and their relationship, she found it truly hilarious even though this wasn't a situation that should involve mirth. her mind was only grazing over the stress that would stretch her out thin in the upcoming dates, but she was consoled that jacob would be by her side to urge her forward. "i think that you would if the engaged women was asking for your lips on hers," she spoke blunty, her words and eyes screaming that she was being suggestive. bloody hell, that was an outcry that jacob had used earlier when she had began to throw off her clothes, right? phillie thought it sounded right because it was the statement she thought in her mind when he traced his fingers down her face and left his hand to rest onto her cheek. a shiver ran through her entire body and a pleasant smile slapped on her face. she tilted her head back to stare up at him and match the soft gaze that he had turned onto her. he posed another question and phil had no shame in answering with completely honesty. "you're looking at virgin lips, jacob," phillie answered. her lips were untouched and completely fresh, at the age of seventeen when she was going to be married. phillie had never bothered with the thought of locking lips with some faceless boy just to check off her first kiss. it wasn't that much of a deal to her.

Jacob was no less interested when she started to brag, intensely happy he had found something that had gotten her to speak openly and without much encouragement. Important to the world, huh? That was a rather large shoe to fill. His own family had been of middle class, with enough money to live on and then some luxuries—mostly Tasha's summer camps, to give everyone else a break—but on the grand scheme of things they were a nobody family whom the world might have just as well been without. He'd never had the type of family pride that Phil had. He loved his family dearly, but he wouldn't have cared if he was a Reece, a Foster, or a Foreman. It was a very different kind of love than she was showing.
She said that she wanted to keep the bird name, and Jacob just nodded. Though it did cross his mind that he would very much like his future wife to take his name, it didn't seem the type of thing to bring up now. Minutes after they'd just admitted their feelings for each other was not a time to argue about such things. For one, he really had no idea what was going to happen in the future. He didn't know if Phil was the one for him—it was a bit of a big thought to conceive at this stage of his life. And anyway, Jacob would be very hard-pressed to take down his own careful boundaries to speak of such things while she was still engaged to someone else.
Jacob laughed out loud when Phil giggled. Then she groaned shortly after, and he laughed again. God, that was so adorable. She really had a girly side to her. Not just a poised, strong, closed off young woman. She was really a young, playful, innocent girl. And he'd brought it out of her. Feeling a mixture of his heart melting at her antics and his chest puffing out at his pride, he really had nothing else he could do but bring the back of her hand to his lips. His eyes were locked on hers as he did so, a playful, flirty light in them. ”Wondrous? My little Raven, you have a whole lot to look forward to.” If a simple hug could make her feel so, think of what the future might bring.
His head tilted a bit as he acknowledged what she said silently. No sooner than had he silently declared to himself that he would still keep the secret for her, did she tell him she'd prefer not to make a mess of things yet. Understandable. And person didn't uproot herself from her family because she'd run into a guy into the forest to whom she was attracted. He gave her a mischievous smile, ”Yes, this secret could be very fun. I'm sure it'll be my favorite secret for years to come.” When he finished his flashed her a brief grin, giving her another wink. He could admit to himself that he was hoping to have yet another giggling outburst from her, but he also just felt a little giddy himself. Which was not at all manly. But that was ok.
His eye's narrowed a bit, ”Would I?” The question was rhetorical, but his studied her scrupulously for a few seconds anyway, as a teacher might look at a student to whom he'd just given a trick question. ”I'm not sure I would. I'm not greedy enough to take advantage of a girl who's not certain of her best interests.” Now he really was teasing, a small smile alighting on his face as he played the little game. But she looked at him with a rather...naughty expression, and Jacob found his will breaking a little. It was hard to keep up an act when all a person wanted to do was the opposite. He had to take a deep, stabilizing breath as she continued to peer at him, her stare becoming almost as intense as his had been before.
Virgin lips. Jacob chuckled a little at that, bringing the hand at her face forward a little in order run his thumb along the contours of her lips. His tough was so gentle and light that he even surprised himself. Then he replace his hand in it's former position, letting go her hand with his other one and bring it also to her face. He lightly caressed the side of her face from temple to chin, tilting her face toward his as he leaned over. If she had answered in the affirmative, telling him that she had kissed a guy before, he might have been a little rougher, a little less sentimental. But he knew the type of first kiss he wanted to give her; he was gentle and strong and slow, drawing it out as he leaned into it just a little, lips pressing against hers. Of the strong opinion that a person's first kiss should not turn into a make-out session, Jacob pulled back soon enough, smiling eyes staring down into hers as he waited silently for her reaction.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | jacob had created a lively air to philomena that was usually happened to be buried away and difficult to call upon. he had worked a giggle out of her, a very distinct squeal that could have easily belonged to a six year old. she couldn't recall a memory when she had a giggled worked out of her in any situation. she wasn't the type to get in touch with her girly side, she kick boxed and enjoyed finding herself in a tussle. phillie enjoyed shopping and expensive clothing but a larger side of her was more tough and taciturn. phillie was elated by the laugh that she coaxed out of jacob, something she had done had caused him to laugh and that was a content feeling that settled within her. he then put her hand to his lips and she smiled at him delightfully, touched by the romantic notion that he had just pulled. his eyes had a flirty light in them when they looked at her and phillie felt her insides twist with an excited anxiety. the delighted smile only spread wider on her face when he called her a nickname. "your little raven? i like that, it's a fitting nickname i think," phillie remarked, satisfied. then she grew more flustered, her face blooming with color. "the future is all i have to look forward to," birdie murmured, her head dropping before she raised her head to peer at him in a splendor.
secrets, they were something that phillie had plenty of experience in dealing with. she had been hoarding her whole opinion on the marriage as a secret for the past four years. it was a grim sort of ordeal for philomena, she didn't like to dwell on the thoughts of the marriage and her fiance and the deal of a huge and wondrous wedding. the secret that she was going to share with jacob was one that could be viewed as more enjoyable and something that would cause excitement for birdie. she was going to become even more withdrawn from her family but for the sake of jacob it would be written off as completely worth it. her fathers actions weren't sitting well with her any longer, she was slowly becoming more worked up about the whole deal. jacob would be something pleasant for phillie, even if she couldn''t reveal to the world what he was doing for her. he spoke eagerly and a slight giggle came from phillie again, she bit her lip at the thought of how childish she must be seen as in jacob's eyes. "it doesn't have the potential to be fun, i am already having fun with this confidentiality, jacob," she corrected, grinning feverishly up at him. she bounced slightly, feeling invigorated by the energy that was stirring inside of her. "it's already my favorite, jacob." she was swearing now that she would uphold this secret, that it would be held dear to her.
he was teasing her and phillie found that it was absolutely driving her insane. jacob had a serious will, she had pressed the topic of her first kiss onto him and he was still finding himself in control of everything. she would have thought that he would have practically thrown himself at her with the thought of stealing her first kiss away from her. she felt her eyelids dropping and she looked at him sultrily, the thought of whether or not she made his insides scream like she was doing to do him right now. "look at it like this, you're currently the best interest for this girl with the muddled mind." she was speaking what she thought to be truthfully, she felt her mind reaching out for jacob because he was the only solid thing that she wanted to latch onto at the moment. his stare on his was intense once more and in response her skin felt searing underneath the power of his eyes. her breaths became to come out heavy as jacob was tracing over her luscious lips. she could only stare at him, waiting expectantly for what she knew was coming. his other hand was brought up to her face and caressing her skin softly. she leaned into him and his face was brought level with hers, she felt like screaming out excitedly at the anticipation that she was feeling.
her thought process had screeched to a halt, his face was right up to hers and his lips pressed against hers in a frenzy. it wasn't actually a frenzy, jacob was delicate and almost hesitant with the simple action of pressing his lips against hers. it didn't last long enough, his lips were pulled apart from hers before the whole wonder of the moment set on phillie. his hands were still on her face and her own hands were grasped around his wrists, almost as if it were like an action of her seeking support. he was starting at her face phillie's eyes were wide and glazed over with the headiness of their kiss. "you pulled away." phillie remarked and gently pulled on his arms to bring his face back to hers. she let her eyes shut and her lips briefly pressed against his, a passion growing inside of her and attempting to take over phillie's control. with a giggle she pulled herself away and tilted her head back to stare up at jacob. she was absolutely glowing. "you kissed me, i kissed you. it's a done deal." she took his hands from her face and slipped her own into his, loosely taking hold of his hands and staring up at him. "you just stole my first kiss, jacob reece."

”Raven?” He tried it out again, actually listening to himself as he said it this time. When he'd said it before, he'd been hoping to get any sort of reaction, but he hadn't really thought she'd like it. A smile graced his features as he looked at her again and actually saw how that was a fitting name. He was tempted to ruffle her hair, but resisted, but giving her a playful grin as he said, ”Be careful what you wish for. Soon I'll probably be calling you Raven more often than your real name.” And he was serious, too. Years back he and Em had had a little game where they would call each other by their middle names. It stuck within a day, and was so hard for them to resist that Tasha had gotten into that habit as well. Now to his sisters he was Ty.
”The future's all anyone has to look forward too.” Though still in a very good mood, Jacob's tone had softened and withdraw while he said this, a hint of his own sadness hitting his eyes. He was aware that she didn't know very much about his own past. Dahlia did, but it wasn't the sort of thing a person gossiped about to their little siblings. In fact, he really had no idea how much Phil knew about his family, and his troubles. He was not exactly from a happy past, either. But he didn't let these thoughts take over, knowing that if he did they would linger for hours. He had just shaken them off by meeting up with her.
He grinned when she said it was her favorite, secret, getting a little taken up in the whole “forbidden love” aspect of this thing. As much as he was type to stand up and be strong for what he had or believed in front of other people, there was—there would be—a thrill to this of it's own kind. And it would make finally getting her in the end, if indeed he did, that much more satisfying. ”I didn't say wasn't already, did I?” He asked, a rather rhetorical question meant to make a point rather than to be answered.
He couldn't help it—it gave him a thrill to watch himself affecting her like this. He vastly enjoyed making her enjoy something, touching her, even in small ways. He knew she'd never been touched like this before, and thus could revel in the little things much easier, keeping it slow, keeping it innocent for her. While she seemed to be rather shameless, he knew there was something in every girl's heart that could be broken if it was handled the wrong way. Even if the man meant it for the best. So he was gentle, not impatient, because he knew there would be other scraps of time for them to spend together, other times they might hug, kiss touch. With this in mind, he kissed her.
And it was a good thing, because judging by her expression after the kiss, she might have been blown away by anything more. Jacob was a good kisser, but he was flattered to imagine he was that good. She spoke, and he laughed. ”Yes, I did.” He didn't resist, however, when she pulled him back, insisting silently on another kiss. He gave it eagerly, still gentle and strong, the way he would be for awhile. Well, the way he always would be. He'd just add a few things to it later on. Phil spoke, pulling his hands from her face and weaving her fingers through his once more. He smiled, but didn't really have anything he could say to that.
Then she said he'd stolen her first kiss, and he broke out into a wide grin. ”That was not a steal, my dear. This is a steal.” And he leaned down swiftly to give her a kiss, short and sweet. ”Second--” He kissed her again in the same way, then brought himself back to his full height, where her lips wouldn't be able to reach his. ”--and third kisses stolen.” Laughter was in his eyes, his smile. Jacob was watching her with such a happy gaze, it was likely that anyone looking on would start gagging on the sweetness.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | her nicknames were plentiful, a variety of shortened versions of her name to choose to address her as. the most common nicknames were phil and birdie, one sounding manly and the other like she was an animal that had a beak and wings and laid eggs. she was neither a man or a beaked creatures but she welcomed all variations of her name. philomena was a mouthful to say and people seemed to get lazy even with how to properly speak someone's name. jacob's nickname was unique, more personalized from all the general name shortenings that she heard. she saw the playful grin on his face and it was evident that even though he seemed to have a lightened mood his teasing was serious. "raven sounds more suiting, i like it. philomena gets dull," phillie said with pursed lips and a thoughtful look on her face. she was far from serious, she personally enjoyed how exotic her name sounded even if it was a challenge for some people to correctly pronounce. "if i'm raven then you need a nickname too. let me think, it needs to be genuine and full of meaning." she paused, pressing her lips together in serious thought and mimicking as if the thought of a nickname of jacob was leaving her feeling stumped. "you could be catfish. it's the perfect mix of a fish that is aquatic and can flop around on land." she let out a tempered giggle and then stared up at him, eyes alive.
the air of their conversation changed with the obvious transformation of jacob's feeling. phil felt herself tensing up, feeling her insides restrict as she watched the light in his stare dim. he seemed more drawn within himself and their was a glimmer of somberness that sparked in his eyes. it seemed like the sort of sadness that was inconsolable, something that phillie would never have the hopes to cure if she ever learned of what was the cause that sparked the feelings. he made a gentle remark about the future which phillie pieced together with the change of his mood, the lack of joviality coming from him had to be caused from some event that occurred in his past. phillie was aware that she barely new anything of his past, he cared for his little sisters and that was as much insight as she had gained on his past. he was a book of blank pages that phillie had no knowledge on and couldn't begin to muse what had happened. "it's a whole future that we will have to become familiar with each other," phillie softly promised. "you'll learn everything about me, even if it kills me having to share it all." there was a dry smile on her face that cancelled out the potential negativity that her words could have carried. she would get to know everything about jacob that he was going to share with her and in return phillie was going to share certain personal things with him as well.
his grin brought her more cheer, lightening the melancholy mood that had began to set between them. he was joking now, speaking in light tones and causing her to feel more uplifted. he was playing about her kisses and phillie began to grin widely, content that he had managed to pull her out of her shell and gotten her to joke and jostle in a good nature. "you're right, jacob. that kiss can't be considered a steal because i gave you the allowance to place your lips on mine." she was lamely attempting to tease and it would be considered a pass if he smiled widely at her or tugged happily on her hand. the next two kisses were brief and short but still packed with the initial sweetness that had been in the first kiss. he pulled back up to his full height and phillie touched at her lips, they were tingling from the sensation that jacob's lips on hers had caused. "might i say that you are a very excellent thief. i wasn't even aware that you had stolen those kisses." he was looking down at her with a blissful gaze and she broke out into a fit of boisterous laughter from the glee that the moment was creating. jacob had called the side out of her that had been expertly hidden away, kieran or no other guy had ever been able to call it out of her. it was special and something that she would always be grateful for when it came to having jacob.
she was restless now, satisfied that she was spending her time with jacob but her body had grown too jittery to stay in place with her hands tangled with jacob's. she worked her fingers from his and pulled her hands back to her side, instead of words she settled on a sly smile that was sent jacob's direction. she looked around on the ground and found her sweatshirt and swept it up to shimmy her arms back into it. phillie pulled it over her head and allowed her hood to hide her mane of brunette locks. she looked back over at jacob and sent him another smile, this one as mysterious as the one that she had gave him only a few moments ago. she bent over and pushed back her sleeves to dig her bare hands into a deeper patch of snow, grabbing two hands full of crudely formed snowballs. "i hope you're not opposed to a snowball fight." before he could answer phillie launched the snowball in right hand at him fiercely, aiming for it to hit him square in the chest. she transferred the other mound of snow into her right hand and slung the ball at him, this time aiming for one of his legs. she didn't glance back, only bounded forward to dive behind the cover of one of the thick trees surrounding them.

Jacob chuckled when she talked about her name. He really didn't know whether he was glad she liked that name or not. Well, he was, because he liked it and it would be very nice to be able to use it. He liked giving people nicknames. On the other hand it was often so entertaining to playfully call a person a nicknames they didn't like. As long as it didn't get to the point where the other person got angry, it was often one of the best ways to tease a person. Oh well. Raven she was, and Raven should would be whenever they were alone. Because Jacob knew it would very likely cause problems if he suddenly had an affectionate nickname for her in front of everyone else. Kieran might go ballistic. And while he almost wanted to be attacked by the boy, so he could put him in his place, Jacob knew that the most likely retaliation would be against Phil.
He listened silently while she mused about a nickname for him. This was different. Not many people, other than Em and Tasha, had nicknames for him. While he was quite curious as to what name Phil would pick out for him, he was also a little bit apprehensive—she didn't exactly look like she was going to give him a fond nickname. She looked like she was teasing him, like she was going to...yup.... There it was. Jacob gave her a dramatized look of horror and offense, ”Catfish? I don't know which is worse, that you're calling me a fish or that you're suggesting I 'flop about' on land.” While there was a great deal of laughter in his gaze, his still tried his hardest to look insulted. He was actually rather graceful, when it came to the way men moved.
”Well, if I'm catfish, then you're a duck.” He said, throwing her a grin, ”It's perfect, because it's a bird, but it still waddles about on land. And it quacks, too. Let's not forget that.” He took a step back, not completely sure as to whether she would retaliate to this playfulness. He'd once said similar things to Em, and she'd jumped on him in a great whopping tackle. No other girl had ever managed to knock him down on their own.
He didn't like the look that she gained when he'd gone nostalgic, the pain in his own heart registering for others to see. So he pushed it aside fiercely and smile as she spoke. He drew what comfort from it as he could, knowing that it was the best she knew how to do for now. Though it did surprise him that she didn't ask him what bothered him, he was thankful. This was a happy day, not one to be bogged down by horror stories of the past. So he nodded when she spoke, not giving any audible answer. He didn't want her to 'kill herself' to share with him, though. It wasn't a duty, making sure he knew every secret of her soul. She should wait until it felt right to tell him something, and then tell him only that.
She agreed with him, and even though it wasn't the best attempt at joking in the world Jacob graced it with a wide smile. He was too happy right now to tease her for the lame things she said. It was also greatly satisfying to watch her bring a hand to her lips, a little bit of a dazed expression crossing her eyes as she did so. Then he laughed when she congratulated her, smiling genuinely, ”Well, practice makes perfect.” Not that he 'stole' kisses from young women on a regular basis, but he had had girlfriends before. It seemed like a trivial thing to keep from Phil, the fact that he had kissed girls and even had sex before, so he didn't think much about what he had just said.
His expression turned intrigued as she gave him the mysterious looks, throwing her sweatshirt back on and then...uh oh.... Realization dawned on his face as she held up the mounds of snow, but he didn't move to dodge just yet. She spoke, and he opened his mouth to answer, but then she just let the snowballs fly. He held out a hand in a reflex to command the ice to steer clear of him, but then he hesitated. If he used his power in this fight, she'd definitely use hers, and it would just turn into something epic and exhausting as all hell. So the first snowball hit him square in the chest, and he dodged the second one.
This was unexpected, but he was elated all the same. This was why he liked Phil. She was unpredictable. So he bent down when she threw herself behind the tree, grabbing a wad of snow for himself and sprinting off into the trees to try and get a position on her. He rounded until he was on the same side of the tree as she, and then sent of the snowball of his own. While the cold and damp made his hand start shaking almost immediately, Jacob wasn't feeling cold, and likely wouldn't until they were done with this little escapade. He hid behind a tree of his own, bending down to make another snowball.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | she had laughter evident in her stare and she was feeling a bounciness in her step from all the teasing that was occurring between them. she gave him a look of dubiousness when he began to pick apart her choice of a nickname. "what's wrong with a catfish? you should take pride in your nickname, catfish." she pressed her lips together to suppress a smile, she wanted to try and come off as extremely hurt. "you just said that you were going to call me raven more than philomena, you have to stick with raven. you can't think that's it is going to be okay to call me duck." she was trying to prove a point, not sound like she was whining about the choice of his nickname. it wasn't a nickname that sounded like it had meaning, only retaliation because she had decided to call him a catfish. "i will be a duck then. i will waddle and i will quack with no complaint. duck bird, it even has a ring to it." she put a superior smile on her face even though she was mentally wishing that the nicknames wouldn't stick. raven sounded much better in her opinion, she even had the large raven on her back to testify that the name carried much more meaning than duck. she wasn't planning on addressing jacob as catfish, he would jacob because that was the name that he been given upon birth.
he was still going about the kisses and birdie was only half listening. he was talking about how practice makes perfect, he was speaking from experience she mused. it wasn't something that she would have hard feelings against. he would of had other girlfriends, he had very likely slept with one or some of them too. she wouldn't resent him for past relationships, she would value the relationship they had right now. it was a feeling thought, she was now focused on trying to dodge the snowballs that would soon be heading her way. philomena desperately tried to scramble behind the tree, she didn't want to feel the icy coldness of a wad of snow touch her skin. she didn't want to but she had a feeling that she would break out into squeals if she was directly hit with a snowball. one snowball passed the tree she was stationed behind, she pieced that he was trying to get his bearings on where she was hidden. he came circling around the tree and phillie had no escape from the ball of snow that was going to be aimed her way. a quick thought bubbled in her mind and she dropped down low to try and evade the snowball. she let out a shocked gasp when the snowball directly landed in her face. the mass of snow was chilly, snowflakes sticking to her eye lashes as she stared at jacob in shock. she raised a sleeve to her face and wiped the icy wetness from her face, biting at her sleeve to hold back laughter.
"that was kind of cold, you know." phillie remarked, her face over the initial shock of the cold and now she was just looking at him with a bemused expression. "it's only fair that you don't move now," she said to him, sliding down onto the ground and ignoring the coldness that began to seep through her sweatpants. she dug her hands into the snow and grabbed two more crudely formed snowballs. snowball fights had been her favorite pastime at the bird mansion, she always corralled her brother and sister into having them with her. phillie would get serious about it and build a fort for defense and hoard her snowballs. this wasn't as extreme but it was still bound to be fun and full of shrieks and coldness. she aimed for right below face and hurled the two snowballs at him with as much force as her arms could muster. she had a nice throw but jacob's throws would no doubt cancel out her attempts at throwing snowballs. she realized what a disadvantage it was to be placed on the forest floor where she didn't have any coverage. she wasn't below crawling and was on her hands and knees to crawl away from jacob. she was moving slower than she would have thought, it wasn't every day that was on her hands and knees trying to pull an escape from someone. she didn't make it very far, a random rock was in her path and her knee smashed with it. phillie bit her lip to hold back a cry and rolled over on her back and closed her eyes. "i call a time out..." she moaned, reaching to grab out at her knee.

Jacob laughed, ”I didn't make a promise or anything, duck. I just said that I liked the name raven and now here we are—I like the name duck.” Of course he was joking—it was written all over his face. But he could help the teases that came out of his mouth, only hoping that his easy, jovial nature and demeanor would give other people the thought that he meant no insult. Usually. Jacob was not above insulting people whom he thought should be insulted. He nodded when she said she would be duck, rather surprised that she was taking this lying down. Oh well. She probably knew he was just making fun. ”Good. And no, I don't think catfish is a good name. It seems to me to be a name for a big fish with long whiskers.”
There was a moment or two of silence, then he bent down to kiss her on the forehead gently. ”Naw, I suppose Raven'll do for you.” He had a light playfulness in his eyes the entire time, his face still wreathed in a smile. Then the snowball fight ensued, and it seemed to go in slow motion when he got her with the snowball. He felt a mixture of guilt and enthusiastic triumph when he saw the cold wet thing hit her squarely in the face, his mouth opening wide in stunned surprise. That had been a good shot. He hadn't even been controlling it with his powers.
Regardless, he recovered himself. The guilt won out in the end and he took a few steps toward her before she spoke. He wanted to make sure that she was neither angry or hurt, and his mouth opened so that he could ask the usual question: 'you ok?' But then she spoke, looking bemused and none the worse for wear now that she'd wiped the snow from her face. His brow raised, ”Yes, I imagine so.” Then she said he had to hold still, and he gained a defiant expression. He had half a mind to just up and run when she threw the snowball. But he wouldn't put it past her to knock him over with her wind, so he just stood there with an apprehensive expression, waiting for it to hit him.
He closed his eyes as they flew, letting out a very audible 'oof' when they hit him just below his neck. Both of them did. He gave her an incredulous stare, mingled at the edges with admiration. She had either played baseball professionally in a previous life, or she was really very practiced in the art of snowball throwing. He guessed the seconds one. But as much as she had grown up with this sport, he had too, with his family in london. Tasha had never been old enough to join in, but Em fought with a will, resorting to tackling him when the snowball proved ineffective.
As soon as Phil started moving, Jacob knelt down, grabbed a mound of snow, and let it fly at Phil with all of his might. Hell, if she wasn't holding back then why should he? But right as he let it loose he noticed that something wasn't right with her. She was in pain. Reflex alone allowed him to alter the course of his attack before the snowball hit her, moving his hand to guide it into a tree nearby. Concern was written on his features as he rushed forward and fell to his knees on the ground next to the girl. He insta-dried his hands using his power and reached out to loosen the hold she had on her knee.
”Time-out granted,” He said with a bit of a smile, glancing at her face for a second before looking back at the injured appendage. ”Now you should let me test this to see if I need to get you to the medical wing or not. Can you move it?” At this point his basically had hold of one of her hands, having just pried it off of her knee. It would be troublesome if he had to carry her back to the academy. People might get suspicious if they both just emerged alone from the woods, and if Kieran saw them there would be hell to pay. But Jacob supposed they could make something up about how she'd fallen and hurt herself and he'd come upon her shortly after. They both had a habit of running out here, right? That would probably work.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | she was never one to complain about pain and anguish no matter how intense the pain could be. when she had been ten she had been running through the woods around the mansion, she was chasing after helios who had insisted they play a serious game of cops and robbers. philomena vowed that she would choose the side of justice and began to race after him with her promise weighing down on her shoulders and urging her to catch the criminal. she had been running fast, her tiny legs carrying her too fast for the rest of her body to catch up with. her foot had been caught on a root that was protruding from the ground and she went tumbling down. her arms had been thrown up over her face and inside of her chin meeting a jagged rock it had been her arm that had to endure the fall. she had cracked her arm clean, helios was far off and wouldn't have even known if she fell. phillie didn't scream, her picked herself up and trekked back to the house and went to lay in her bed for the rest of the day. it wasn't until three days later she told anyone about the injury. philomena tried to never let anyone on when she was in pain or had any sort of affliction, it had never been in her to whine and moan when anything was wrong.
she heard a snowball came whizzing right beside her and she turned her head to the direction that the snowball had been traveling. her brown locks were splayed out all around her in some sort of wicked halo and the coldness was seeping into her scalp. the sky that she was staring at was a shade of blinding gray, she dropped her eyes to a half closed state and she continued to stare up at the sunless sky. she didn't want to focus on the dull throbbing that was centered in her knee, she had rammed her knee roughly onto a rock that had been considerably large in size. phillie's knee had been through some troubles before, she seemed to always find some way to get herself injured after long times of oddly amazing health. broken bones and various sprained or strained parts of the body were nothing that she was unfamiliar with. jacob didn't seem to be thinking so coolly about it. he was dropped down on the ground beside her instantly and prying at her hand to loosen the hold that she had on her knee. "go away, nothing is wrong," phil lowly said, though her words clearly were betrayed by the way she was grasping at her knee and refraining from chewing thoughtlessly on her lip. she was a trooper with these sorts of things, the light didn't need to be shone on her when she was occurring times of pain.
she was trying to focus on the warmth that his hand was gifting her with, an alternative thought that took her mind away from the pain that was growing more apparent with each passing minute. he was looking at her knee, trying to get some sort of reading on how much damage she had managed to pull out of the simple act of hammering her knee against a rock. philomena felt the words she was trying to speak in her throat but a lump that had formed in the base of her neck kept her from speaking. she nearly gurgled out the words but hushed herself, she would speak when words were something that were actually attainable. jacob was talking about the medicial wing and philly gave a weak shake of her head. she didn't need medical treatment, or at least that is what she would swear no matter how bad her condition seemed. "the medical wing is too extreme. i only banged my knee," philomena gurgled out, turning head away from him and letting the large hood of her sweatshirt shade her eyes from the hawk-like glance that jacob was piercing her with. the pain was growing steadily, but did he need to know that? philomena wouldn't permit jacob to carry her back to the academy. at most she would only let him carry through the forest until she felt some sort of feeling in her knee again. she had managed to royally screw up her knee. great.

Jacob was momentarily stunned when she told him to go away. He let go of her hand, leaning back a little bit as he just stared at her. He'd dealt with many girls in the past, including his sisters, and no matter how guarded they were, they would all of them be open to his help when it came to physical pain. These days, the only times he got a call from Em was when something had happened to her, and she needed his help for one thing or another. There had only been on exception before, and he had not had a good relationship with that person. It rather infuriated him when he was made to feel useless, and this might not be any different.
He set his jaw, telling himself that he would not get angry, and returned to his former purpose of getting her to let go of her knee so he could take a look. ”Bullocks.” He said under his breath, though it was likely loud enough for her to hear. ”If nothing's wrong, I'm a thunder freshman.” He'd known Phil for several months now, and in all that time, no amount of discomfort had been able to make her act any differently than usual. The way she was acting really concerned him, and he'd be damned if he let her stubbornness make him leave her alone in the snow with a lame leg.
Her looked at the rock she had slammed her knee into, his look suddenly gaining a sense of sympathetic pain as he muttered again, ”Bloody hell.” That was a heck of a stone, right there. And judging by how fast she'd been moving she'd hit it pretty hard. It was possible she'd hit a nerve, though, instead of cracking or breaking anything important. But he wouldn't be able to assess that if she didn't let him look. He leaned over her so that his face was directly above hers. Abandoning her knee, he opted to put both hands on either side of her face.
She spoke, and began turning her head away. But he, firmly and gently, pulled it right back so that he could look at her. Jacob took a deep breath, and spoke as patiently as he possibly could. ”If you have some sort of problem with hospitals or doctors or something, that's fair enough. But if you don't let me look at you I will carry you to the medical wing whether you like it or not.” If it was bad enough, he'd do it anyway, but no need to tell her that. It might not be bad enough for that, and in that case he would help get to the academy, and possibly to her class.
His mind went through a simulation of what would happen should he need to take her to the nurses against her will, and it was filling with him being thrown hither and thither while he tried to carry a struggling young woman. Though he knew in the end his strength would win out over hers, the thought was not a happy one. He'd be exhausted for the rest of his day, and she'd probably hold some sort of a grudge. Hopefully that wouldn't have to happen. Giving her a much more gentle look, Jacob commanded softly, ”Phil, please let go.”
((Sorry 'tis short!))
