His eyes met her glare with a challenging look. "Actually it's the most amusing thing I've done all day." His mother would slap him upside the head if she saw him playing with his life at the moment. One false step and he'd be tumbling over the edge or the the ground could give way from under him and he'd be falling to his demise. Yet the adrenaline surprisingly helped. He wasn't some adrenaline junkie, he preferred things to be calm and what now but right now he welcomed the rush. "Why so worried? Afraid of heights?"
Kai was happy that neither Isabella or Emmett were here. Well, if he had been with them he'd probably would have handled all this better. They'd probably ask him what was wrong, he'd tell them what was bothering him, they'd talk it out a bit and then that would be the end of it. Perhaps it was because he was with a stranger that things were different. Well, of course things would be different with a stranger. That wasn't even a question. "Never realize adrenaline could help clearing one's head." When he was troubled he'd normally played his violin to clear his head. Only reason this time was different was because he didn't want to go get his violin and then have to take it back to his room before class. He wouldn't make a habit of this but the small change was rather refreshing.
After another moment he figured he'd had enough fun, "Fine, before you have heart attack." so after another light hop he walked away from the edge and stood closer to Ester. "Happy?" he said amused as he walked back to lean on the tree he had been sitting by earlier.

[atrb=border,0,true] WE ON OUR OWN TRIP | Was he actually enjoying this? It seemed like he was. His eyes were challenging, her harsh glare having not even phased him. She huffed at his comment, crossing her arms over her chest and looking away angrily. He asked her why she was so worried and then he mentioned heights. Instead of admitting to her crippling fear, Ester just rolled her eyes. "No!" she huffed defensively. "I just don't want to have to explain to people that you were stupid enough to hop along the edge before you fell to your death. I got better things to do." She glanced over at him.
He mentioned clearing his head and Ester couldn't help but disagree. She didn't understand how putting himself in danger was a good way to clear his head - at least not in regards to heights. Ester put herself in danger all the time when she tried to get people to hit her in anger. It was thrilling when she was able to get a rise out of others. It often ended with her getting sent to the nurse's office for some minor treatment, but it actually did help clear her head. Perhaps that's what was helping with him was similar to what often helped her. It was destructive and dangerous and of course it wasn't healthy, but when did teenagers do anything that was healthy.
Finally he removed himself from the edge and Ester felt like she could look at him without the feeling of having her heart being ripped from her chest. "Not like I care if you fall or anything," she said lowly, shuffling the dirt with her feet. | FALLING IN LOVE BY THE MILLIGRAM | SO CONTENT TO SLEEP WHERE WE LAND | |
