It was just like any other night at work for Kiya. A few drunks had come in and ordered some weird stuff and of course, seeing as she was still the new girl in some respects, they made her do it. Which by the way, was never fun to do and Kiya knew that she would never make the new, new girl/boy do it when they started. That was for sure. It wasn’t like she didn’t like working or anything. It was more the fact that she just hated having to deal with people when they were like that, unless she was getting drunk at the same time which never really happens and even though that may seem like a good thing it was also the fact that the girl hadn’t exactly had a good drink in a while, the last time being when she had gone back home for school holidays and her brother took her out to let off some steam but both the reason and outcome of that time are something that would be for another story, that was for sure. Tonight all Kiya could really think about was going out, after work, because all she wanted to do was get out for a couple of hours even if she had to go on her own. As long as her brother weren’t to find out then she would be in the all clear and wouldn’t have to deal with the bitch-ness from the two boys.
At this point in time it was around half an hour after the dinner rush and all she really had been doing since then had been cleaning the cups as such at a small cleaning station situated just a few metres away from the bar, just in case someone wanted to buy a drink, because apparently that was where she had been placed for her current shift. Instead of serving just at the register like she had been for the past couple of nights, which by all means was a welcome change. It meant that she really didn’t need to social interact with people because all they wanted to do was to get their drink and go back and have a conversation with the people they had come with. It wasn’t very often that she actually had to deal with the drunks because she wasn’t able to serve drink as of yet and that also meant that she hadn’t needed to jump over the counter to save some poor young guy from a massive drunk who wanted to order before ect ect. A blessing and a curse. Even though working at timmies had its ups and down, Kiya never really knew who was going to walk through that door and want to have a conversation with her and that was always the best thing, in her mind anyway.

The weather for Yeager had been relatively nice. He didn't mind the autumn chill, not at all. It just gave him a reason to wear his beloved scarves. However, when it came to winter, he was not quite so fond. He didn't like the cold, even when his elemental spoke otherwise. Snow was perfectly fine, save when he got it on his outfit. As he walked down the street rubbing his hands together, he thought about how glad he was that it hadn't snowed yet. Even for Canada, October was pretty early for snow, though it was late in the month. November would bring the beginnings of winter with it, the holiday feelings. He enjoyed that, the smell and the feeling of Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year's. It was a wonderful time, and he was already planning what he would be doing for each of those holidays. Spending them with family, of course. And they weren't quite that terrible. As long as Nana Grace was drunk, everything was a-okay. His relatives would be flying in from other countries and coming to their place for the celebrations. He actually couldn't wait to see them. They might have given him a hard time a lot, but that's what family did. And he loved them. His aunts and uncles and relatives were better than dealing with his sister alone, after all. They knew how to deal with her, how to give back as good as she put out.
As he hadn't parked very far away, he arrived to Timmies quickly. He wanted something to warm him up, and coffee was the go-to place. The boy had plans to go shopping at the outlets. Unfortunately, his friends were busy so he'd been forced to go alone. As he entered the building, fidgeting with the scarf around his neck, he grinned when he saw a familiar face. There wasn't a line so he walked up to the counter and said, "What am I ever going to choose from this menu, I just don't know." It was spoken loudly, obnoxiously. Because he considered Kiya a friend, the dark-haired girl he'd only met once before. That's how quickly he moved. And because she was a friend to him, that meant he had to mess with her when she was at work. It was pretty much a given. At a lower volume, he said, "Didn't know you work here. I expected to find you at the genius bar at the Apple store, not the bar at Timmies." To say he had labelled her as a dork already was not a far stretch, but that wasn't a bad thing. He liked her. And as such, he was going to swallow up as much as her work time as possible like a good person. That was why he hadn't even placed an order yet, instead resting his hand against the counter, eyes flashing to the menu for a moment before flickering back to her as she asked, "So how have you been?"

This was something that Kiya really hadn't seen coming. Yeager had been a boy that she had meet a few weeks ago during a lesson that she was skipping because of of some news that she had gained some more information about her father. They had sort of hit it off, but they hadn't really talked since the that day, which was a little sad because she really did want beat his ass at Mario Kart. Unfortunately they hadn't spoken since then and she had never had had that chance! To see the water elemental just walk in on one of his shifts was just a little bit funny. She had been meaning to talk to him about that Mario Kart battle and now was the perfect opportunity, or at least before he left the diner.
As soon as she heard his overly sarcastic voice she knew it was instantaneously knew that it was him. Kiya had this feeling in the back of her mind he was to her counter just to mess with her, she knew that the two of them where friends and that that would be something that Yeager would do just to annoy her while she was trying to have a peaceful shift at work. "Ohh, I'm sorry, I didn't hear that... so what would you like?" She had to say that with was much sarcasm as what Yeager had given herself. It was just something that had to be done. With the way that these two where were, the sarcasm could probably go for a lot longer than just a couple of comments over a bar at Timmies. But with his next comment, well that really got Kiya thinking. She had had many people ask the exact same thing about her job. Many people thought that she should be in a job that was more technological job than her current job as a bar girl/waitress at Timmies. "You know what, maybe one I will get a job there but I am happy with this and it means that I get some really good food... That is always good, isn't it?" Her job at Timmies was something that she had because she wanted to help her family back home. With her father being really sick and all Kiya would usually send a large amount of her pay to help pay for things back home. It was something that she felt that she needed to do, so she did it!
"Hmm, been alright. Things can only get better when you have a few new games around the corner, if you know what I mean! So, what about you. How have you been?" She could have sworn that game companies where after her. They decided to have all the good game releases around the wrong times ever. She had so much currently going on and this is when they decide to have all of the new games come out. It was a bad time for her as well because she knew that her brother wanted to come to the academy with the new school year! She needed to work extra hard to be able to get him here! She was willing to do her best for her family after all. "But I do have to ask, do you want anything to drink, so it at least looks like I am working?!"

It was no secret, but Yeager liked Kiya. And she chose some moments to remind him why, moments like this when she hit him back with sarcasm. He grinned, rapped his knuckles against the counter. "I want an elephant, do you guys have those here? If not, you should really consider it." He pointed a finger at her as if that would urge her into going to her boss and saying hey, why not elephants? That would probably get her fired, or have her sent to the looney bin. And because he liked her, Yeager wasn't too fond of either of those.
Apparently she was fond of her job here, and that was unsurprising. Even though it had to be hard to work around food all the time. He did, but he was getting sick of Chinese because he ate it so damn much. Hell, he smelled it all the time. His car smelled like Chinese now. For a while he'd been borrowing one of the employees and felt kind of bad for the guy. "Oh yeah, you get food, don't you? That's a pretty sweet deal, actually, kind of jealous." Then he added, "I get free Chinese but I've had enough egg rolls in one lifetime." That's why he usually unloaded spoils to his friends. Like Sandra, for who he'd always forget to get hot sauce because honestly, it disturbed him. He just wanted to spare her health and not have her fall into a hot sauce related coma by the time she's thirty.
He smiled a small smile, nodded his head. It was adorable, when people got excited over what they were passionate about. "Yeah new game...word." Okay, so he didn't play as many as she did, he had an Xbox and a Wii and his sister had a Playstation, but he stuck to his tried and true favorites. "I'm all right. Well, dealing with all the family here for the holidays, and trying not to kill them all. Well, before I get presents." He didn't think he'd be able to kill a few of them. Some of his uncles were pretty tough and he learned that the tough way whenever they played football. Of course, he realized he was being disruptive but he only sighed when she requested he order something. "All right, I'll just have a coffee with cream, no sugar." He handed her the money. "We should hang when you get off. I'll be over there." He pointed to a table and after his coffee was finished he went over and sat down to enjoy it. A nice reprieve from the family. [shifted it so that it takes place during the holidays, hope you don't mind. <3]

This was one of those moments when she realizes that she is happy right where she is. She had a good job, good friends and a really good environment to live in. It was something that she had wanted since she was younger and this was it. Kiya really couldn't get much better than this, well having her family here would be amazing but that was always something in the back of her mind. But then again, as soon as she heard Yeager's comment about animals she really couldn't help but laugh. She realized that this was one of the main reason that the two of them where friends and that was always something that she would be happy about. "Totes bro, I will ask my manager about it as soon as I get off my shift!" But then again, when she thought about it she knew that she only had a little while until her shift was over anyways... even though she wouldn't ask at all...
Anyone that had ever had to sit with Kiya when she came into work when she wasn't working knew that she loved the fact that she got some free/discounted stuff when she came in. It was one of the best things about the job and she would probably stay until she got a full time job after college because of that. "That I do, has to be one of the better things about the job if you ask me. Yeah, you better be jealous!" Knowing where your friends worked was something that everyone should take advantage of. You can annoy them as much as you want and you really can't say anything about it, or they can't say anything. It was the beauty of having friends who had jobs and better yet, friends in general. It was amazing the amount of things that someone could do to annoy the other person and them not want to do anything. Then again, she did work at Timmies, which always meant having to deal with the drunks which in turn, was never really fun! "Egg rolls? Now I am jelly! They are so yummy!" Well, Kiya had to admit that at times she did tend to live on take-away food and that it always tasted better when she didn't have to leave where ever she was staying to have to pick it up or just order it in general.
Gaming was the thing that kept the wind girl alive, just in general. It was her blood and oxygen, until something less was that but at this point, gaming = blood + oxygen! "I know right, it is the best things about the holidays.. giving yourself gifts!" Kiya really didn't know if Yeager knew about her family. It wasn't like she didn't want to go home and see her family or anything, it was more the fact that she just didn't have the funds to do so. The only reason she is working was so that she could send her family back in America so that they can live with the basics, while leaving a little for herself for such an occasion as holiday times! "Hmm, I can't wait to see mine. It has been such a long time!" It's not like she was lying or anything. They had always Skyped chatted during the year and her mother was going to take the laptop to the hospital so that she could see her father on Christmas day, just like always. That was the best gift of all and the one that she was looking forward to the most!
Once Yeager and placed his order, like she had requested, she really couldn't wait to get off work. It wasn't very often that she had someone to talk to after or even during one of her work shifts. She made his coffee and once he went to sit down at a table she began to clean. She was back to this point. The last ten minutes of a shift where you really didn't know what to do or you just made it look like you where working so that you don't get into trouble. Well, it always worked and Kiya wasn't about to complain about that now was she. "Hey Kiya, you are all done for the night. Thanks for coming in!" Her manager said as he tapped on her shoulder to make sure that she knew what she was doing. And with a quick change out of her work uniform and into something a little more causal, she was ready to face the world. Kiya walked over to the table that Yeager was sitting at and sat down while saying, "Hope you don't mind, but I totally stole that elephant idea and asked my boss about it. He totally loved it!." Well, the girl was always ready for a laugh!
[[Nahh, thats cool.. god, my muse is on fire tonight! XD]]

Sometimes with Kiya, he had to wonder if she was actually being serious. She happily delivered every word, it was a difficult feat to tell. It wasn't like other people, like him, who spoke sarcasm like weather observations and game scores. It threw him off sometimes, but he liked it. That was interesting. So he only tilted his head and snorted when she spoke of talking to her boss about elephants. Strange one. Everyone he surrounded himself with turned out be strange. He remembered freaking out at Jensen last winter because she pulled him down into the snow and got his clothes messed up after he told her that she should not be doing that.
God, she's excitable. It was both exasperating and adorable. She didn't know how people did it, especially her when she was at work. He never looked happy when people opened doors and they were met with disinterested Yeager. He lifted his eyebrow when she told him that he totally should be jealous of her job. "Seething with envy," he deadpanned. Oh, that friendly banter. That was why everyone fell in love with the Yeag. Even Kiya had to be absolutely head over heels with his frizzy hair and welcoming attitude. It happened all the time. In truth, not many liked his sense of humor, especially not his teachers who he tended to be a horrible person to. Way too excited. Especially about the egg rolls. "I can provide you sometime. I usually give the spoils to my friends. College students are especially thankful." When they weren't boarding, that is. If they went to a different school, oftentimes they lived off easymac and top ramen. He almost shuddered thinking about it. At eighteen, he still lived with his parents and he wouldn't move out any time soon. He was smart about that much, wise with money.
He was very deadpan with everything, of course. Unenthusiastic as a window washer for the Empire State Building. That is, unless he was being a nuisance in class. His teachers saw more of his wild side than most people did, whenever he was grinning and having fun. "I think it's eating a lot of food and getting into fist fights with your family. But you know, to each their own." He wondered how seriously she would take him, and even then he didn't bother to explain himself. Fist fights did happen. Most of the time, it didn't involve him. However, he thought it was a very bad idea to get all the Yeagers together for the holidays. It meant somebody would bleed. She wanted to see her family? Well, that made one of them. He could at least be happy for his friend. "You are way too enthusiastic about everything." He spoke it with his sincere sarcasm. Always blunt, sometimes even he wondered how people tolerated him. Then he remembered he was awesome. "Family sucks, I'd rather staple my eyebrows than see half of them." He was just full of the holiday spirit, now wasn't she.
Since he didn't know when she would be getting off, he didn't really expect much. Yeager would be fine just sitting alone. Though he was a sociable guy, he also liked to be by himself, in relative silence whenever he had the traveling group that called itself the Yeager family in town. He thought of them as some kind of circus troupe, full of freaks and sideshows, bearded ladies and animals. Maybe he was being unfair, but that was because half of his uncles questioned him about his grades and future career and his aunts questioned him about relationships. And then both of them made fun of him together, and then his sarcasm gets out of hand, and then he's in trouble, and it just snowballs into something absolutely terrible. But he smiled when Kiya came over, happily telling him that she suggested the elephant to her boss. He shook his head. "I would be severely worried if you actually did. Please tell me you didn't." He worried about all of his friends' sanity a lot. They weren't the most well put together group. The Water graduate loved them, but they were strange. "So who's all coming to town for you?" he asked out of genuine curiosity before taking a sip of his coffee. [go muse! <3]

It was moments like this that Kiya was really reminded about why she actually did hang out with Yeager in the first place and she had to admit that the hair had something to do with it, for sure! When she really got think about it, you know, because she had so much time between Skyrim and Halo 4, it was mainly because he could make her laugh. He was just a funny person who also happened to understand her humor as well. She had to admit that she was someone who did have a little bit of weird humor but that was something that she really didn't worry about. "You better believe it! ALL of the envy!" Okay, so her humor was something that no-one really understood 100% of the time! That was something that Kiya was used to but at the same time was just a little thankful for! It was one thing that made her an individual and she was happy with that! "You know that, that was be so awesome! Maybe we can have that Mariokart battle when you do. I am still going to kick your ass by the way!" And that was just another thing that was a little bit of a personality thing when it came to Kiya. She was always going on and on about games and just small things like that. It was one thing that all her friends knew and eventually got over of course!
Christmas was a special time of year for Kiya now that she had moved away from her family and mostly her father. It was one thing that she really didn't want to do but it was also something that she felt that she had to do, unforgettably. She was able to send some money back home every time that she got a pay check from work to go to her fathers hospital bills and just things that her family needed. It was the least that she could do that is. "Sometimes that can also be the things that you miss the most." Okay, that was one of the only moments that someone would actually see Kiya looking/talking in a non sarcastic way. Of course she hoped that Yeager didn't notice that! Though his next comment was just the thing to cheer her up again. It was, once again, just one of those things. Kiya always felt that she was just that little bit to 'weird' about so many things and that was something that she was always scared about. You know, being sarcastic most of the times always gets a person in trouble now and again and that was the last thing that she needed at this point. "You know what, as soon as one is gone then you will realize how much you truly miss them." Oh god. There was something about Kiya tonight that just made her emotions all out of whack. She hadn't about her father like that in such a long time. That was something that she really didn't enjoy!
Of course she was joking. It was just what she needed after that last conversation that she had had. Just something to light her spirits and what better way then to joke around about asking her boss about getting elephants in the store! "You know what, this time you are lucky. I have decided not to ask my boss about that amazing idea but one day I will and you will be so sad when I earn millions from it!"
[/b] Well, she was going to need something to deal with her every growing habits. It was the only thing that she didn't like about working that Timmies. She still didn't have enough to be able to move out of home and get somewhere else, you know. That was what she had always wanted to do, well as soon as she had started at the academy anyways! Hmm, Yeager's question really made her think. She really wasn't the best at asking people for things, that was for sure. "No one, actually. I usually just walk back to the academy because then at least I am getting some form of exercise!" Well, she wasn't going to lie, that was for sure! Yeager probably knew most of the people in her year anyways! [[ sorry about being away for so long. i shall post something or will send you a message about what happened but hopefully this post is alright! sora x. ]] [/size][/justify] [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Kiya seemed excited at the prospect of his delivering for her, and he smirked at her. "That is really adorable, sweetheart, but we know who the Mariokart champion is." He pointed to his chest as he mouthed 'me'. So he wasn't exactly pro, Rainbow Road would always be a complete bitch, but he could hold his own against anyone. Still, he didn't know of Kiya's skills. It was clear she was a gamer -- while he was not -- but he also had an ego that wouldn't allow him to think immediately that anyone would kick his ass.
She spoke of missing something the most, and he supposed he was really lucky that he had his entire family without sickness this year. They were as energetic as they'd always been, getting on his last nerve. In the moment, he can't appreciate that. He supposed irritation faded with time, though, and anything bad that would come to be could soon be forgotten. He snorted at her next words. "You don't know my family," he said. And then he tilted his head, "Well, okay, maybe I'm being a little mean. But getting the Yeager family all in one place can be disastrous sometimes." In the way that a lot of his relatives liked to be passive aggressively angry toward everyone. "Oh, Luke, you bought a vase like that? I thought you were in dire straits." At least he already lives with the worst of them, which was something he didn't think he'd ever consider a good thing. "I'm not big on relatives, too many extended ones and I want to hang myself from the chandelier."
He leaned forward, gaze focused on her. While his expression read seriousness, he was at least ninety-five percent sure she was joking. "Kiya, I mean this as a friend, but seek help. Because eventually, you'll be seeing those elephants when no one else does." He forgot to smile. Usually did. Not when he was pretending to be very concerned for the wind girl's mental health. He shook his head then, at her reply, a little smile on his face. "No, I mean like relatives. You know, cousins, aunts, so on..." People he, for one, wished would stay in their respective areas. Some in the states, some overseas, some he had never even spoken to before. Or at least hadn't seen since he was a little boy, the ones that will hug him and croon, "Oh, how have you grown!" Mostly the aunts -- they were the troublemakers.
[it's perfect. <3 and take your time, no worries. if you think you'll be away for a while, you could always put up an absence!]
