In a way, Adam was laughing. It was more of an amused chuckle than maniacal laughter that spoke of twisted triumph, but inwardly he simply could not help himself. The move had been pure genius, he thought, and it worked perfectly. He stock piled that in his arsenal of fighting maneuvers with girls, just in case there was another opportunity in the future. Who knew if they would fight back and give him a good slap across the face, though. Maybe it would be well deserved but that would not make him any less angry.
Caught up in previewing the presentation material, he was not even aware of how angry Kennedy truly was. The irritation with her teasing was still lingering but the triumph of beating her at something was a tad more powerful. His emotions and feelings never truly made sense, like playing 'pick a card, any card' with a magician. You never knew what card you would be dealt. It made him volatile, but he did not care. Adam wanted people to learn to handle who he was without him taking drastic steps to change. He never asked others to be anything other than who they were, and it should work both ways.
His eyes drifted up from his work slowly as she spoke, meeting her gaze evenly. It was like two wild animals locking eyes and waiting for the other to make a move. To say something that would lead to a fight, or lunge forward and throw a punch. There was something challenging in the glint of his dark eyes, something that said 'I dare you'. His lips twisted upward into a smirk. "Hah, right. Good luck with that." The arrogance was rolling off of him like steam from a pot of boiling water. "There's no fucking way I'm scared of you. What're you gonna do, huh? Zap another light bulb, or hide my homework from me? Bring it on." His eyebrows slowly elevated, head tilted slightly to the side before he laughed out loud now. It had nothing to do with the kiss, but the threat she threw at him shortly after. Adam feared very little.

DO YOU WANT TO BE DIFFERENT? TRY TO LET GO OF THE TRUTH Kennedy kept herself from just outright hitting the kid. She wasn't really sure what was driving this fury. Maybe it was the fact he was so smug about his victory. Maybe it was because he was now ignoring her to do his project. The only problem she foresaw was her inability to vent her stresses to anybody and here was a boy who was pushing every button to make her want to release all of her anger and hatred that she had kept pent up. Which would be fine, if she was a normal person and didn't have powers that would get out of hand and could actually kill somebody.
When Adam acknowledged her speaking, it was a challenge right from the start. Not only could she see it in his eyes, but the smirk on his face as he wished her luck in her threat. She briefly wondered how much of a charge that a human body could take before it would permanently damage them. Kenny wasn't somebody that just let people walk all over her, especially as this boy was now. He continued, saying basically that he didn't think she could do anything against her then verbally telling her to "bring it on". He laughed, which was probably the last straw in Kennedy's book. She might have been able to get up and walk away from the challenge.
But he said those three words.
Then laughed at her.
In her book, he was dead. It didn't matter who's alliance she was on right now, she was looking out for herself. However, she kept her face cool. She allowed the anger to drain from her demeanor, Kennedy's face going calm, almost upset, as she took a stand. With fluid motions, she gently started collecting her stuff in her bag, turning her back towards the Fire. She was baiting him, cleverly so. She hoped he would continue to taunt her, mock her for turning away from the challenge as she rifled through her things. If anything, she was surrounded by enough mechanical objects she could be something formidable. As for Adam, he didn't have much, if any, open flames he could draw to him. For now, she was on upper ground, and she wouldn't be afraid to use it.

He was arrogant, egotistical, and hardly ever thought before he spoke. His victory over placing his paper back in his possession was something he relished in, simply because he did not like being teased. Having things held over his head like he was a child incapable of fending for himself or getting the things he wanted or needed. Maybe Kennedy assumed he wouldn't hit her and so tried to take advantage of it. As angry as Adam could be, he was not foolish and there were times when he had clarity of mind. They were few and far between because of how volatile he could be, but on occasion they did rise up and keep him from looking like a petulant child pitching a fit or acting out for no reason. Right now Adam was content to have his paper back through an idea that worked as well as he had hoped and at the current time Kennedy had nothing over him except for the fact that he was sitting and she was standing.
Then, she turned away and started to pack her bags. He huffed a very faint laugh.
"Leaving so soon?" Adam asked lightly as he took to writing down a few things on note cards for his presentation. He was a decent public speaker but everyone forgot their lines every now and again. Better safe than sorry. His eyes flicked from his note card to her back, waiting to see if she was actually leaving or if she was going to yank out some sort of sword and lob his head off or something. He wasn't going to stop her. No, he was very content with his surprise kiss and her response. If she wasn't going to retaliate after he asked her to 'bring it on', then in his mind he won. No skin off his back. "Good luck with your science homework." Was all he said before shaking his head and continuing his writing.

DO YOU WANT TO BE DIFFERENT? TRY TO LET GO OF THE TRUTH As she turned away, she could hear him laugh, taunting her about getting up and leaving. He was quiet for the most part, which allowed her to think. Kennedy had a feeling that he would fight back, especially if she physically assaulted him. Which was fine by her, but she didn't know what she would do if he got the upperhand. While it was easy to pass off bumps and scrapes as a winner, it would be much harder if she took an actually, thorough thrashing. Plus, the kid was a fire. He had the advantage and, no matter how mad she could get, she doubted she could match his angered frenzy. Catching the bell tower on fire would be a hard thing to explain, after all.
She considered throwing a verbal insult at him. Maybe shooting in the dark and seeing if she could find a weakness. She knew a good handful of insults, but none seemed appropriate for the situation. Kennedy didn't really know the boy too well to really know what would make him tick, knock his ego down a few rungs, leave him scrambling for a response. While insults were petty, they would usually work well. However, that wasn't what she needed. She needed something that would leave her with the last laugh, with the final straw, something that would set her apart and make him realize that you don't screw with somebody who can easily ruin you.
Finally, she came to her conclusion. "Thank you. I'll see you around," Kennedy replied pleasantly, glancing over her shoulder and giving a wave towards the. She had a smile on her face as she did, even throwing in a wink for good measure. "Tata~" she chimed, disappearing down the staircase to leave the bell tower. She pulled the bag over her shoulder, the soft padding sounds of her feet going down the stairs echoing finality. Because after all, revenge is a dish best served cold.
