Bastian was just about done with the drawing. Just some last minute finishing touches. "Because I wouldn't give them what they wanted most." he said plainly. "Bullies feed on the fear of others and I never gave it to them no matter how hard they tried. So basically it was just another attempt." he said as he finished the drawings. "Of course things only got worse for my friends and I when they found out about my abilities. And that was when I ran away." he said nonchalantly.
Bastian spoke very freely when it came to his past. It wasn't something he hid or anything and thus when talking about it the words just flowed out of their own accord. "All done." he said proudly. He put his pencils down back in their spots and carefully ripped out the page from his sketchbook. He closed his book and placed it on his bag. Then he handed the sketch over to Joanna and waited for her final judgement. "So what do you think?" Bastian was the kind of person that grew rather nervous when he drew people and showed him his work. There was always the possibility of dislike which worried him.

Joanna had to catch her breath when she looked at the drawing. Was she looking into a mirror? She was never the type of person to think she was ugly, but the way Bastian drew it, he made her look beautiful. He had put a certain type of sparkle in her eye, and she was unsure on whether he had just added that there, or if he had really seen that when he looked at her, transforming her from real life on to paper. "I love it," she said, still inspecting it. He had been able to capture so many tiny details, even being able to sketch a little part which was unmistakably the scar on her jaw line. She wasn't entirely thrilled that he was able to see it, but she supposed it wouldn't have actually been her drawn on the paper without it.
Joanna threw her arms around him and pulled him into a hug. "That is so wonderful. Can I keep-" but it was at that moment that Joanna realized what time it was. "Oh jeez- I'm going to be late for math!" She set the picture down on the desk next to her and quickly gathered her stuff, shoving her book and her nail polish right into her bag. She slung it around her shoulder, saying, "Thank you so much, I'm going to be late though! I'll see you around some other time- bye!" And with that, she rushed out of the room and headed towards her math class, leaving the beautifully done photo sitting back on the desk with the boy who drew it.

This was where Bastian really got nervous when it came to his work, mainly when he was drawing other people. You could really never know when people were going to like your stuff. Maybe they'd think that you didn't draw them right or something. So he waited patiently for Joanna's response and was relieved by it. He let out a breath and just smiled. He was surprised by the hug but just chuckled. "You're welcome." he was happy that she liked it. Of course she could hae the drawing. He was about to say so when she suddenly started packing up to leave. Bastian at this point started putting his stuff away when she grabbed his attention with her quick goodbye. It all happen so fast when he realized that she left the drawing on the desk. He picked up and turned around. "Hey, you forgot..." but it was too late. She was out the door and gone from site. "your drawing." he said with a sigh. Oh well. He put the picture back in his sketchbook. He realized that he hadn't even gotten her name in that entire exchange. Huh. Well, if he was lucky he'd see her around somewhere on this giant campus.
