Pride was a bitch. Insulting it was dangerous. So when Logan suggested that Joshua didn't have the balls to attack him, the Fire graduate was hit with an intense urge to prove the guy wrong. He knew it was stupid, he knew it was probably going to get him into trouble, but he decided that the moment he rid himself of the damn oven he was carrying he was going to show Logan exactly how ballsy he was. It was probably childish to get so wound up over a little comment like that but anger problems and pride issues did not allow a person an extended period of time in which they could assess how intelligent they were being. He had both, a combination that had brought him down to petty measures on several occasions. Not for the first time he was wishing that he'd just pretended not to notice the principle and kept walking. It probably wouldn't have surprised the guy all that much seeing as the last time they'd met it had been to discuss a possible porn addiction. Yeah. Not something you lived down very easily, even if you could prove your case. He hadn't, though, and now he was stuck. He set the oven down but didn't go for him right away, trying to reason with himself. It wasn't working out too well.
He scoffed, scowling, more irritated than he normally would have been by the comment. Everything Logan did annoyed him now. The way the guy breathed was a nuisance. Anger led to irrationality. He realised in retrospect that he had indeed called the kids in the class stupid, not intentionally, but rather than admit it he just said, "Yeah, whatever, believe what you like." He assumed the condescending air of someone who was making allowances for another's stupidity while on the inside his ego was smarting a little and he was regretting opening his mouth at all. He probably should have took it as a lesson and quit while he wasn't too far behind but if he had been known for backing down at good times he'd have never cut the line so close to being kicked out before. And that was just for attacking other students, not his teachers. Logan was a first, he'd never wanted to attack a professor before. He still wanted to fucking attack the guy and the fact that Logan wouldn't give up the mindset that Joshua was pretentious made it even worse. It was like waving a flag at a bull, he was riled up and ready to stampede. He was still conscious of the fact that he might get into some serious shit if he went for the teacher but he was also so enraged that he was beginning to not care.
He said he wouldn't tell. There was that damned devil again, singing sweet words into his ear. And now he was listening, now he was furious, now he was really ready to snap. And he did. Logan started to mock him and Joshua stopped listening, actually slowing his stride slightly as he continued to walk toward the room that held the remaining ovens. He didn't hear anything else that the man said, nothing at all. When he figured there was enough of a close gap between them that his now-opponent wouldn't see it coming, Joshua stopped dead in his tracks, turned around, and swung his fist toward Logan's face. He wasn't aiming anywhere in particular, wasn't trying to break his nose or bruise his jaw specifically, he just threw as strong a punch as he could muster and then stood breathing a bit harder than was normal. "Clearly I have a lot more balls than you do," he spat. "All that time talking shit and you can't even back it up, can you?" There was no one in the hallway now, he was pretty sure no one had seen him throw the first punch, but he wasn't concentrating enough on innocent bystanders to hope that it stayed that way. He just hoped he could teach this guy not to egg him on. Sneering, he then went out on a dangerous limb, "So what now, Seok? Gonna tell on me?" He'd already fucked himself over if it was going to happen but maybe if he mocked him, Logan wouldn't. Hopefully.

Gruff as he might have been as a teacher and a person in general, Logan had to admit that he kind of had a tiny bit of a soft spot for some of his students. Some were kind of annoying as fuck, and he definitely wanted to just quit his job and flip tables as he left or something, but for the most part he was alright with them. He also liked that, for the most part, they weren't those annoyingly snobby kids who wound up in the "smart" classes -- those really fucking hardcore things that required lots of work and that his parents would have loved for him to take when he was in school. The time for that was over, though, because now here he was teaching Home Ec, one of the only things he could even do with that degree of his. He didn't like that Josh basically called his students all stupid, basically. Some of them were pretty fucking smart -- they just weren't the type of smart that made them all kinds of fucking pretentious. "I'll call it like I see it," he replied, and the tone was a little colder now than just the same kind of obnoxiousness as before.
He tried to keep it as always though, the usual bothering and pestering. That seemed to get Josh riled up the best, and he couldn't deny that it had been a while since he'd been able to do this and actually had fun with it. God, Logan, you're such a fucking dick. He knew it and he also believed that Josh fully deserved it, the stuck-up asshole. Actually, he didn't even notice when Josh stopped listening -- of course he didn't -- nor did he notice when the distance between them seemed to close a little, not until Josh stopped in his walking so abruptly and turned around. Before he had time to register this, there was a fist slamming into his face, and Logan lost track of everything that was happening for a second, the shock of the first hit sending him reeling. "Son of a bitch," he spat when he was able to speak -- even then it was hard. The punch had hit his cheekbone, was probably going to leave a nasty mark there. He was just glad that it didn't feel like nothing was fucking broken, but there was little time for him to think about that -- he went immediately on the defensive, prepared now just in case Josh did deem it necessary to hit him again.
"You think so, huh? Guess you do have more balls than anyone thinks." Even while he was the one being hit, he wasn't going to let it go without further goading, even though it was an incredibly stupid thing to do. He'd been banking on the fact that Josh really wouldn't hit him, but oh fuck had he been proven wrong. It didn't even cross his mind that he should quit now while he was ahead. Josh's next words gave him an idea, though, and now he just laughed, though it was a bit shaky given that he'd just been punched without any real warning. He maintained a fair bit of distance even as he started speaking. "You're in a fuckton of trouble now, you know that? How would it be if you were expelled by tomorrow? Just how close were you to graduating?" He wasn't usually the type to threaten or blackmail people, oh no, but he knew that there was no way he'd win in a physical fight, and all of that aside, he still had the upper hand at least in one way. He was going to fucking milk that until it was gone.

The satisfying feeling of his fist slamming into Logan's cheek sent a thrill through him, a rush of adrenaline. Josh did not like to admit that he enjoyed fighting on any level, it wasn't exactly a noble thing to take pleasure in, but even he could not deny his own thoughts and feelings. He'd wanted to prove Logan wrong and that punch had done just that. His hand hurt as he let it drop to his side but the throbbing pain was ignored. He was not thinking of his own pain but of Logan's and hoping that the man regretted opening his mouth at all. "Next time don't fucking bet me that I won't do something." Challenging Joshua was an almost sure fire way to make him do something, within reason. Not that this had been within reason on any level but he'd been angry and that tended to make reasoning count for a lot less than usual. He wasn't even insulted by the comment, still riding the adrenaline high that the punch had given him. "Bet they think a lot better of me than of you." He had zero fondness for Logan at this point. He hated the guy. Not in the same way that he hated Bryce or Nell's brother, Rafael, but he hated him all the same.
Part of him wanted Logan to stride forward and throw a punch back so that they could get into a serious brawl. He was itching for a fight now that he'd started something but he wanted the teacher to take the bait so that it wasn't just Josh dealing the blows. That never happened. Instead, Logan decided to remind him of exactly how stupid his actions had been. A fearful chill coursed down his spine and washed away the heat that the anger had brought to him. Expelled? Shit. This was what he'd been worried about, this was why he had held off on doing anything physical until the last minute. He didn't think he'd have gotten expelled for a simple insult but this? It was going to leave a mark, he couldn't say that he'd done nothing, and his previous record would do nothing to back him up. He stared flatly at Logan with the look that a deer might get trapped in headlights and realising that there was fuck all that could be done.
He didn't want to answer the question. He wasn't going to answer the question but his anger and panic made him impulsive so he found himself snapping, "Senior year. And I've never had a problem with anyone the way I have a problem with you so congratu-fucking-lations." Senior year and he'd fucked up. Senior year and it was all going to come to an end. He could feel an anxiety attack begging to knot his stomach and quicken his breaths. It had been so long that he'd genuinely freaked out over something that the feelings alarmed him. He did his best to ignore them. "You provoked me," he said. He was aiming to sound angry but his voice wavered a little. Was his fear evident? Well, he wasn't shaking in his shoes and he didn't sound as scared as he felt but the fact that he didn't have much to say suggested it. "It's not my fault you can't fight back." Oh god. He wouldn't be able to get into medical school. Desperation struck. "And what exactly can I do to get you to keep your mouth shut?" I can't get expelled. I can't. He thought about attacking Logan again, really hurting him to try and scare him away from the idea, but that would make things better and not worse.

God, that fucking hurt like a bitch. Logan was glad that he hadn't cried out or reached immediately for his face to ensure that it was alright or anything like that. It felt fucking awfuland he wanted to, but that would give Josh way too much satisfaction, so instead he just glared back. Now he was angry -- before he'd been trolling and being a dick, but now he was fucking pissed. "Well that's my bad, I didn't realize that you were stupid enough to actually do it," he said, sneering. He was just talking big, but it was true -- he was pretty sure that attacking a teacher was a very stupid thing to do. Even when it was Logan, who acted more like a high schooler than a teacher, there were few things that could be any dumber, he was pretty sure. "Oh yeah, since you're such a fucking likeable guy." Logan may have been a dick, but at least he had fun in life, made jokes more than anything else, was easygoing and lax on rules and other regulations that people generally had. He had to be doing something right, after all, to draw the friends that he had -- not all of whom were people who bummed around like he did, after all. If he was good at anything, it was self-assurance and justification.
Senior year. Though Logan knew, sort of semi-secretly, that he wouldn't actually speak to the principal or even any of the other teachers, to be honest, he was kind of glad once Josh said that he was actually in his final year. So that whole medical school thing really had been a certainty, a "for sure", not just a hope and dream for the future that was likely to change in a matter of months. It probably gave the threat that much more of an impact, and he almost laughed out loud, glad that he had the upper hand now for sure, now that Josh had actually let that one slip. He hadn't actually expected an answer, but this was good information to have. "Thanks, I try my best," he said, though it didn't sound the same now that he'd been punched in the fucking face. He had lost the bravado from before, the blow having caught him seriously offguard, but he struggled to train it back on Josh. This guy was such an asshole. "And that's a fucking lie, I bet you've had lots of problems with other people before." Josh seemed to have lots of issues just on his own, so Logan wasn't going to bother with all of that fucking nonsense.
Though Josh didn't sound particularly scared, the few words that he did manage just made Logan pretty sure that he was trying to justify his actions to himself -- so that he could later justify it to someone else, probably, like the principal. Oh, the principal would never hear about this from Logan, anyway, but this was good to play up. He was starting to enjoy himself again, though admittedly this had been a lot more fun before he'd been socked in the face. "Did I? So you decided to punch me," he said, hoping it sounded as ridiculous to Josh as Logan was making it. "No, I'm just not an idiot like you, I'm not stupid enough to fight back." Though he wasn't exactly opposed to using his fists, the truth was... Logan just didn't like fighting. It wasn't because he was a pacifist, far from it, but who the fuck liked being pummelled, even if the blows were dealt equally on both sides? It still hurt like fuck. He wasn't crazy enough to go rushing into actually painful situations. "You can start," he said, putting himself in charge of the situation again, "by taking the rest of these ovens, and not another fucking word. Then we can see." Blackmail took too much effort, and he wasn't that much of an asshole, he wouldn't really do that to someone. In the short run, though, he needed these fucking ovens to be put into his classroom, and he was pretty convinced that Josh was more at fault.

Being called stupid made him want to attack Logan again, to pin him against the wall and punch him so hard that it knocked the smart ass remarks right out of him. His violent urges were frighteningly real and it was hard to fight them off. He had anger issues. Some people didn't believe him because they'd never seen him truly go off but Logan was experiences the problem first hand. He'd never gone to get help for them, he didn't take any sort of pill for them, all he had was self-control and clearly not enough of it to suffice. His form trembled as he drew a breath and tried to resist another attack. "I'm the stupid one? You're the idiot that doesn't know when to shut his fucking mouth." Was that threat clear enough? Josh didn't know how else to get his point across. He laughed, the sound sour and breathless. "Yeah, keep judging me, that's done you a great service so far." He was not offended (thankfully) by the comment. He had a group of great friends, he was engaged, it didn't bother him that Logan was assuming that people wouldn't get along with him. There were a lot of people that rubbed Josh the wrong way and in his opinion they were not worth his time. Especially not someone like Logan.
Calling him a liar did not help his mood. Nothing, at this point, that Logan said was going to help his mood. He wanted to storm off and get the hell away from the guy and yet he stood glaring at him with his hand throbbing and his shoulders shaking. If looks could kill the Home Ec. teacher might have spontaneously combusted right there and then. "I'm here, aren't I?" His words shook but the absence of fear betrayed that it was rage and nothing more that made them quaver. He didn't know what to feel, he was angry and afraid at the same time and the anger just so happened to be the dominant emotion. It was always dominant. "I can't say I've ever decked a teacher before so no, it's not a fucking lie." He had never attacked anyone on the staff team before, this was a first for him. He hated Logan for driving him to such an extreme but it was done now and there was nothing he could do to reverse it. He did have loads of problems with other people, he hadn't bothered to try denying that, but Logan was a special case. He hoped the asshole was proud of himself.
Common sense would have told him that Logan was right, that he had anger problems and that he couldn't control himself. Maybe he should have apologised and begged Logan not to rat him out. What did he do instead? He ignored common sense and glowered at the older man. "Yeah, and so I decided to punch you." He stressed the words with more force than necessary. I'll punch you again if you don't shut the fuck up. He wished the bravado he felt was false. He wished that he could say with certainty that he could not be provoked into attacking Logan again. He couldn't. "More like you know I could kick your ass." He should have stopped with the talking tough but he couldn't help himself. Was he trying to goad Logan into fighting him? Josh didn't really know himself. He was just mad.
For a moment he thought about disobeying, about telling Logan that he could shove the ovens up his ass. It was definitely the more tempting thing to do. Then he considered medical school, his future. He could live comfortably off the wealth of his family but he'd never been a freeloader, he'd never desired to leech off of anyone else his entire life. Apart from that, he wanted to be a doctor. He wasn't doing it for the money or even for the recognition, he wanted to be a doctor because he was passionate about biology. He pressed his lips together, disarmed a few more comments that begged to slip past them, then bitterly spat, "Fine." He hated it, the feeling of being controlled. He'd always been the type to rebel when he felt threatened and do his own thing. Now that fight was being forced out of him. I fucking hate you, I hope you know that. He didn't say it aloud and he doubted he needed to. Logan probably guessed. He scoffed and started back in the direction from whence they'd came, doing his best to ignore Logan as he hauled another couple of ovens back and forth. They were certainly not light but his strength was enough to make it rather mindless. He wasn't huffing and puffing when he set the third one down, at any rate.
[omg these two xD]

It was sad because it was true, though -- Logan really didn't know when to shut up. He was just an obnoxious dude who did whatever the fuck he wanted, most always regardless of what people thought. Well, there were a couple of exceptions, but even then he was a fairly gruff dude, wouldn't actually tell people if they were the types he took seriously... or seriously-ish. Josh was not one of those people. "Look who's talking, you're not that much better at it." This had very much been a back-and-forth, and though Logan could admittedly take the blame for starting much of it (if not all of it), well, it was a two-way street after all. It wasn't like he'd been picking on some kid who didn't know how to argue back or anything, so he was pretty sure that the punch had been way out of fuckikng control. "Like I said -- the way I see it," he snapped back, sounding as irritated as he was. Fuck, he still couldn't believe that Josh had just punched him. Who the fuck did that?
God, his face hurt like a motherfucking bitch, and he was glad that, though he was pretty lousy at censoring himself, he was at least able to refrain from cursing at the top of his lungs right now, because for fuck's sake he would have been doing it. They were in the middle of the hallway though, and classes were in session, so while this meant that nobody was around to see them... they'd probably hear if he started yelling. As much as he wanted to see the look on Josh's face if people came running and saw, he really did not actually want to make a scene. That would be fucking embarrassing. "Unfortunately." Josh's voice was literally shaking and that should have been frightening but Logan, full of total confidence, was sure that if he'd punched him once, well, there was no way the asshole would be able to muster up enough nerve to hit him again. "Oh, 'cause I'm a teacher, huh? But I'm sure you've hit plenty of regular people." Logan tried to sneer but it was painful, his face had started throbbing at this point. He just settled for glaring, his eyes boring into Josh.
Though he acted like one some -- okay, most -- of the time, Logan didn't really appreciate being treated like an idiot. There were limits to pretty much fucking everything. His friends poked fun all the time and he joked back like it was nothing, because that worked both ways for sure, but this was fucking stupid. Logan could say with fair certainty that Josh was so not on the hypothetical list of people. "Do you always punch strangers? Because that seems like a fucking lousy way to make friends." They weren't friends, though. Neither of them had gone into this with the intention of making friends with the other. Logan was just dicking around, Josh was just getting some brownie points with the principal or something, so neither of them really gave a shit, he was pretty sure. "Shut your mouth." Even if it was true, even if Josh could kick his ass to next fucking Tuesday, he wasn't about to admit that. "You can do whatever you want." It was more goading and he knew that was stupid but he knew, when Josh shut up, his lips pressed together tightly, that this was pretty much won for him. "Good," he snapped. "Better bring them all back too." He let Josh walk back to where the ovens were waiting, and personally he turned heel and headed back for his classroom. There was a fridge and freezer in there and he could hopefully find an ice pack -- or frozen vegetables or something -- to put on his face. Fuck that asshole.
(end thread? :3)
