Lark's eyes flashed a bit of a challenging glint, the smirk on her lips saying 'try me'. "Wouldn't I? You never know." Of course she would never do anything to mar Avery's reputation as a nurse or get him in trouble, she merely enjoyed messing with him. A game. That did not mean she was unwilling to take on a dare or cause problems for someone who royally pissed her off. It all depended on her mood. Avery was a good guy and she liked being around him so Lark saw no need to give him any problems. She rolled her eyes and nudged him in the arm, chuckling rather dryly at his comment. "Fan girls my ass," She scoffed. "You refrain from dating because you wouldn't be able to flirt with all of us." Lark motioned in a circle to refer to the entirety of the high school population, a smile on her face. Was that true? Hell if she knew. Avery was certainly a flirtatious person though and he was not a bad looking guy. He probably did not have any trouble finding himself someone. I wonder if he's actually dating someone. The thought was fleeting; Lark tried to avoid nosing into people's personal lives to avoid people doing the same to her. Do unto others.
Although the intimidation was appreciated--it had always helped her avoid some fights in the past--she still wondered if her friends actually felt that way about her. Avery flinched and moved back when she made her animal face, clawing at the air with a semi-vicious looking expression. She was not sure if he was just playing along or if it was real. Well, if it were real he would probably say something, right? "Yeah you are. Full of protein. The cannibals would love you." Why else would they be able to survive off of eating their own species? Obviously there was something nutritional there. Either that or they were just psychotic and did not particularly care about the benefits of gnawing on human flesh. What a gross image. Lark mentally shook that away. She frowned. "Hey," Her expression was serious. "I'm not a corrupted teen. I like my alcohol and that's about it. Is that so bad?" She pouted. Occasional drinking aside, she was definitely more subdued than some people she knew.
"I thought it was hilarious," Lark replied, shrugging her shoulders and twitching her lips into a brief smile. "You can use that pink shit to help you. Uhh..." She snapped her fingers to try and remember the brand. "Pepto something. That stuff." Was that the stupid commercial with that annoying jingle about indigestion? She couldn't really remember. It was during one of those times where she crashed with the TV on and woke up to late night television. Avery started to flail his arms around and she refrained from bursting out in laughter. Nope, can't do that with my ribs. As much as she wanted to the fun would only last for about five seconds before pain took over. Instead she watched with amusement as he had his moment over his potential neutering session. That would hurt like a bitch and Lark, though not a male, would definitely prefer not to lose her genitals. "Sadist is the way to be, bro. Makes life interesting." She smirked at him and made a chuckle; sadism was not really her cup of tea unless it was towards people she hated. Then she would take pleasure in their pain whether it was physical or emotional. Her soft spots for those who did wrong were very very small, if non-existent. She willingly opened her hand and wiggled her fingers at him, passing the nurse an expectant look. "Phone?" Lark could not remember giving Avery her number so decided giving it to him might actually be a good idea. If they were going out to lunch, it made sense.
She blinked a couple of times as the sound of rubber gloves reached her ears; was anyone ever fond of that snap on skin? Probably not. She knew for a fact that she wasn't. "It's tape, Avery. Tape. If I knew tape was going to fix my problem I would've just gone home and did this myself." Actually Lark had no idea what tape did or what he planned to do so it would be pretty useless to try it out for herself, but still. Tape. She dropped her head and sighed before looking back up at him through her eyelashes. "Yeah, yeah you're my favorite." The girl admitted before pointing a finger at him. "But don't tell the others. It'll make them jealous. It has to stay a secret." She placed the same finger against her lips and proceeded to smile. Avery really was her favorite.

"I've said this before and I'll say it again: teenagers are scary." He shook his head, feigning disappointment. Avery was probably more scared of them than the faculty members, and some were intimidating as hell as they were older and so...strict about how things went down at the Academy. He was a shameless person but Avery knew his limits and when to back off. Some of the faculty members looked at him as if he was some abomination that needed to be extinguished from the world or something. Maybe he was just exaggerating like he always did, but really? Did they need to stare at him for prolonged periods of time with their eyes narrowed as if they're trying to shoot arrows into his back? Avery shivered. They'd probably be happy if he were gone, to be honest. But he didn't let that get to him. "That--!" he started with a determined voice to argue back, but slumped his shoulders a moment later in defeat. "...is true. BUT. There's also the fact that I'm not interested," Avery admitted honestly. The whole idea of love just...scared him. Made him want to curl up into a ball in the corner to avoid any mention or feelings of it, because all those feelings would just be a fleeting moment of vulnerability, and once you exposed that, they'd leave. This was all observation, of course.
Being of higher authority and a grown man, you'd think Avery would have some back bone when it came to these students. Most of the time it was just teasing, but yeesh. It was just like going back to his Academy days where everyone was a vicious wolf to him. The only difference now is that Avery saw the students as fluffy little creatures. Kind of like raccoons, because raccoons could attack without reason. But they were still so cute! "Umm. I'd rather not think about pieces of myself in the fridge while they chew on my face, thanks." Avery scrunched his nose at the image, shuddering. He didn't even want to know how they'd kill him, either. He'd be running away screaming while he was being chased with a knife like in those horror movies Avery loved so much. Well, sort of. He couldn't really remember what happened throughout half the movie because his eyes were hidden most of the time. "No, I guess not~ but don't drink too much. It's bad for your liver," Avery said sternly, giving Lark a pointed gaze. Like he was the one to talk--in his teen years all he drank was alcohol. But he grew up from that.
Avery looked at her amused, tilting his head. "You mean Pepto Bismol?" He laughed, shaking his head as he rolled his eyes. "But thanks for your concern. I'll make sure to include you in my will." Okay, he was probably way too early for that but in his mind twenty-seven was old, okay? And besides, some people just seemed to die without any warning. Better safe than sorry and knowing Avery, he'd just about include everybody in his will even though he didn't have much to offer. Or write letters. Letters are nice...though it was kind of morbid to think of his own death right now when he was perfectly healthy. Avery cringed slightly when she confirmed she was a sadist, though with his mind in the gutter he smirked shortly after, not being able to hold it in. He wasn't going to say it outright because that was just highly inappropriate and blah, blah, blah. Besides, what kind of nurse would he be if he admitted that he was a sadist? Shouldn't nurses be full of kindness and care, not full of sexual jokes and flirtation? Oh, whatever. It's not like Avery was normal in the first place. He looked at Lark with curiosity as she held out his hand, suddenly unsure what to do. But when she voiced it out, he raised an eyebrow, smirking, though he obediently took out his phone from his coat's pocket. "Feel free to put yourself under a pet name~" he laughed, cooing. He did that with a lot of his friends. Lark wouldn't be an exception.
"Tape has many uses," he sniffled, turning his head slightly before smirking as she finished her sentence. Avery poked her nose. "Yes, but you aren't a trained professional~" As he said this, Avery began cutting strips of tape, each about a foot long, before rolling Lark onto her uninjured side. "See~ that wasn't hard to admit!" Avery exclaimed, narrowing his eyes playfully at the finger as if he was going to bite Lark again. He smiled at her, nodding once firmly, his voice hushed. "I promise~!" Avery grinned cheekily at her for a moment before proceeding with his uh, treatment. Well, t was mostly for pain management, but it was a treatment nonetheless. He placed the piece of tape directly over Lark's fractured rib, running it along until it met her spine. He did this several times on either side, smiling once he was done. "See, this isn't too weird! Tape solves everything." And Avery nodded once firmly, a proud smile on his face.

Lark wiggled her eyebrows, looking mischievous yet a bit evil at the same time. She supposed teenagers could be scary but not all of them were. There were some that she knew that might actually intimidate even her, but she tended to avoid them as best she could. She was confident enough in herself to know that she could find better company. Then again, Lark was also sided with the Fires and Thunders once upon a time and that group in entirety could be scary if given the chance. More the Fires than the Thunders but experience with all of the elements gave her enough to make good comparisons. Waters and Earths were like petting puppies, while Fires and Thunders were like petting a porcupine. Even Lark herself was not all that cuddly. "Not interested, hm?" She repeated, appearing to be a bit disbelieving. "Or you are interested in someone but you just don't want to admit to it." Either way was entirely possible. She did trust that Avery would tell the truth but everyone had their little quirks with admitting to one thing or another. Lark was no exception either. Her eyes narrowed a little bit, examining him for a second. "Hmm. Well, if you do find that 'special someone' I wanna be the first to know." Since when did she ever invest herself in someone else's life? It had become a more recent thing, she thought, looking back on the past years. Over time, she found herself nestling into her friends lives and being genuinely interested in what they did and who they were. She was not nosy by any means and so would not take much offense if they did not tell her everything though.
"They wouldn't chew on your face first, dumbass," Lark said lightly, waving him off as though this conversation was about sniffing flowers or something happy like that. She poked his forehead. "You have a pretty face. They would want to admire it for a little while before turning it into tomorrow's breakfast." Mmm, a delicious and nutritious way to start the day. Cereal sounded a lot more appetizing though. Or pop-tarts. Now she was hungry and could not wait to find something to eat after her medical wing visit.
She narrowed her eyes at him a little bit, though it was feigned aggravation. Avery was the doctor nurse after all, so he was supposed to say these things and lecture the students on not drinking or doing stupid things, right? It made sense. Her shoulders rolled back a little. "Yes, dad. I promise I won't drink too much. I mean, I have such a horrible addiction though. You have no idea how hard it is for me to avoid downing three bottles of vodka in one night." Lark sounded serious--looked serious--but what idiot would try and drink that much in one sitting? No one she knew, or at least acquainted herself with. She was not opposed to getting wasted every now and again but never to the point where she might not wake up. Alcohol poisoning was no joke and she did not want to go out that way. There were so many other fun options if there was ever an intention to end her life early.
Pepto Bismol. That's what that stuff was. Maybe if she was more accustomed to taking medication she would know these things but her immune system was sturdy and illness was not extremely common for her. No, I just fracture my ribs all the time. She did not know which was worse; re-fracturing the same rib all of the time or coming down with the flu. "Yeah, that. And I really appreciate the thought. You're so good to me." She smiled and pressed a hand to her heart. It would be a bit shocking to find herself in Avery's will but she figured he was joking. Hardly any of their conversation was serious unless it pertained to her health, which she noticed his expression changed every time he had something to say in regards to her injury. It was pretty bad but Lark was tough enough. She could handle it. She took the phone and entered her number, saying, "Okay, I'll just put it under 'L' then." It was the most common nickname she had. Josh called her Alouette and Nell called her Larkita but outside of that it was usually just L. She liked it though. Nicknames meant someone cared or thought of you as a friend.
With a sigh, Lark allowed Avery to do what needed to be done without much of a fuss. If he was master of all things tape, then so be it. So long as he could help her out somehow. "Who says I'm not a trained professional?" She asked, looking offended. "I know a lot about this...this shit. Yeah." Just like how she knew all about Pepto Bismol. She would make a wonderful doctor. 'Just take some of that pink stuff and you'll be fine~' would probably not go over well with a patient. Lark hissed when he put the tape on her rib, but remained quiet otherwise. That was not at all comfortable. She just hoped it would help in the end because there was no intentions of going to the hospital for this. Not again. "Yeah, I guess it does," She mumbled, looking down at the tape work Avery managed to do on her side. "Thanks doc...I mean nurse. You have a talent." Slowly but surely the girl sat up and put her shirt down, sliding off of the table. "I'll take it easy and I won't do anything stupid, I promise." That would save him the lecture and save her from hearing it. Even if it was his job to do so, she knew what she needed to do. With a warming smile, Lark gave him a side hug and patted his shoulder. "Give me a call when you're ready to do the lunch thing okay? Just...not during class." She gave him a warning glare, to make sure he wouldn't try and troll her. She could get detention on her own without his help, thank you very much. She pulled back and made her way out of his office with a wave. "Later nurse Avery! Behave yourself."
