Alexander sat at the Lake it was a nice place to sit there and think. Alexander went to rest his face on his hand and almost yelled in pain when he touched the burn on his face. It had been healed but it still hurt to the touch sometimes, He also still had a almost sunburned look on his cheek. He sat there staring at the lake it was beautiful. Absolutly beautiful he didnt know if he had been there for ten minuites or for an hour he just sat there staring at the water thinking. He had been down to the dorms once and it was absolutly awesome. He couldnt have hoped for a better dorm. He hadnt met any other water students yet but he hoped he would soon. His mind wandered from would he be going home given the chance or would he stay here to stuff like what was he going to eat later? Thats just the way his mind was. He found himself thinking of his brother. They had spent barely anytime together and had never actually been close but he still missed him. He shook his head dismissing the topic he wouldnt think about that. Not while other people could see him.

Winter was one of the easiest times for Jacob. Here there was so much snow and ice, no end to the water he could use to do whatever it was he wanted to do. If he bundled up just a little, he was perfectly comfortable, taking a jog around the academy grounds. He liked to stay active, no matter the weather, and it made a good time to think about things that were troubling him. His sister, for example. Em had been trying to get closer to him since their parents had died, but since the beginning of this term—a couple weeks—she had started to get distant again. He hoped it was just her growing up. He wouldn't be able to bear it if she turned on him because of school politics.
He would have liked to be at home, with Tasha, but Em was there right now. In fact, she'd kicked him out. The thought brought a small smile to him. She really was a firecracker, that girl. He chuckled a little, then changed course a little to head toward the lake. Time for a little practice. The cold would drive him inside eventually, but until then the lake was ideal for him. ”No one will be there now.” he said to himself, ”Too cold for most people here.” Except the fires, with their personal heating. But they knew better than to attack a twenty-year-old water student right next to a lake, so he didn't have to worry about that.
He was surprised, then, when he came upon a boy sitting by the lake. He slowed to a walk a ways back, heading all the way to the very edge of the shore. He didn't immediately address the boy, as he saw that he was thinking hard. So he turned his blue eyes on the water in front of him, watching it move for several seconds. After a time of slow breathing, he crouched and put a hand out a few inches above the water. Keeping his hand out, he slowly stood again. A column of water followed his hand up until he was completely upright. Then the bottom of it pulled away from the water and up toward his hand. It was not long before his hand was completely enveloped in a large sphere of water.
Child's play, yes. But he saw it like stretching before he ran a race. Turning most of his attention away from the water for now, he addressed the boy on the shore. ”So what brings you out here? I'm sure it's not the lovely weather.” He threw the boy a jovial grin. Had it been spring, he may have just thrown the water in a large arc so that it would basically rain on the boy. But what would be a joke in warm weather would be very mean in cold, so he resisted the urge.

Alexander nearly leapt out of his skin doing his best to hide it he had seen the water move but didnt think anything of it. "The water, Its something nice to stare at while i think." He actually wasnt entirly sure why he was here instead of the dorm thinking but he had ended up here it didnt really matter to him.Wow Alexander thought to himself thats pretty cool."I take it that your a water elemental too?" Alexander thought that it should be obvious he was since no one else would have sat there to just look at the water while thinking if they werent a water most likely. "I've only been here a few days, Decided there wasnt a better place to think than near what i love most, The water. Besides i was hoping being out here would keep the fire's away from me. He really hoped that the fires kept away from him while he was here. See'ing as the other Water was here now he had higher hopes being they were at the lake. "Im Alexander, My last names hunter you can call me that too if you want." he normally wouldnt have added the last part but he had heard the fire's leader was Alexandre so he hoped to prolong the meeting of fire leader as long as possible.

Jacob smiled, letting the water jump from his hand back into the lake. He turned around, facing the kid and nodding, ”Yup, that's me. Water graduate, come back to learn master skills at the academy.” From to look of this kid, he was in his first few years of this place. Considering Jacob hadn't met him yet, it could very well be the first year. At least, if common sense was correct in assuming this was also a water kid. ”You're a water, too, huh?”
Jacob walked over to the kid until he was a few feet away, then crouched down in front of him. He wasn't sure how long he was planning on putting off his training, but hey, he liked new people. New stories, new things to write about, if nothing else. And it was his job to befriend his own—Jacob was still very active in the school's politics. He nodded knowingly, ”Ah, you're one of those passionate waters.” How he said it was anything but insulting. He leaned back and took a long look at the lake himself before answering. ”Yeah, I used to spend hours here, just watching the water move. Cleared my head.”
Jacob smiled at the boy, ”Nice to meet you Alex.” Her held out his hand in greeting, ”Name's Jacob, Jacob Reece. You a new student, or have I just missed you before now?”

"Yep im a water alright" Alexander had a feel'ing that Jacob had already finished Highschool and came back to learn more he just kind of looked like it. "Ya nothings been able to keep me away from the water very long, not even almost drowning not even" His sentence stopped short there. He looked at the lake for a second to make sure his eyes werent watering and said "Nope nothing can keep me away from the water. His brothers death was a very touchy subject for Alex he had never actually opened up and talked to someone about it before, His parents would hire psychatrists and he would talk to them trying to get them to help him beat a level on a video game or he would start talking to them about their life and they would leave crying not Alex. Alexander shook Jacob's hand that was reached out in greeting "Yep been here a few days already know fire's are mortal enemy's of the waters, If my whole face wasnt red right now you would probably be able to tell that i knew that by expierence but no big deal." Alexander saw him throwing Jacob into the water of the lake but resisted the urge as it was really cold out and he could have very easily gotten hypothermia most likely.

The college student's brow raised. ”You almost drowned?” He tilted his head, letting one slight not-laugh leave his mouth before he looked back at Alexander. ”Damn. I suppose that's how you learned about your powers then, huh?” He could have been wrong, but usually it was stuff like that which triggered a person's power to emerge. Since they usually couldn't control it at all, it was usually an accidental happenstance that occurred because of adrenaline or intense emotion.
Jacob caught the pause and subsequent changing of words, but he didn't ask. He was a sociable person, but he knew well enough that there were things that were not tested, boundaries that were not crossed. If someone tried to insinuate that he loved his sister less because she was fire, they would get a punch to the face. If someone tried to get him to open up about his parent's death and the time after, he'd definitely scare them out of their skin. It took a special someone to get that out of him. So he let Alex keep whatever secret it was he wanted to keep, Jacob's expression nonchalant and of good nature.
”Already, huh?” He arched an eyebrow, watching the boy with obvious amusement. He shifted so that he was no longer crouched, instead lounging on the shore as if he'd been relaxing there forever. He found himself instantly wishing he had a stone to skip across the water. Then his lips formed a smile and he waved a hand at the water, as if actually tossing something. The water behaved as if there was an actual stone whipping across it, the ripples forming shining patterns on it's surface.
”I'll give you a piece of advice, kid. Try and stay out of the fire's way, at least for this term. They like to pick on the freshman waters especially, because you won't be able to fight back for awhile. But if they ever do something like that to you again.” A dangerous light glinted in his eyes, and he looked Alexander directly in the eyes, ”You tell me, and you tell me who did it. No one messes with my own, you hear me?”

"Yep one minuite im under water unable to breath the next second theres no water around my face until i take another breath. We got rid of the ladder on the pool after i got stuck. He grinned. He never liked talking about his brother but for some reason he always loved telling the story of how he learned of his power he assumed it was just because that was one of the coolest moments of his life. He appreciated the not mentioning of his sudden stop and change in tone he was one of the first people to do that. "Yep actually it happened right around here too. Thanks its nice to know that someones got my back i havent met any other waters besides you really."[ It really was comforting to know another water he thought he handled himself exceptionally well being as they were at least in 11th or 12th grade and there were like 5 of them "If you wanted to go hunt down the one that walked up to me first we could probably find him he would be the one with a black eye most likely." Alexander had gotten a hit in on him and it was probably good enough to at least give him a black eye. He wasnt just about to let the kid off the hook.

Jacob shook his head, a grin quite apparent on his face. Then he fixed Alex with an appraising stare, ”You talk about it like you enjoyed it. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't have such a...dramatic emergence.” He chuckled, putting a hand to his chin for a second before letting it fall back down. Almost drowning, and still loving the water. Took a special kind of person to do that. Gusty. He leaned back, watching one of his hands as it rifled idly through the sand. Then he shrugged, ”I got angry and water came flying like a jet out of my mom's cup. Right into her face.”
He couldn't help but laugh at that memory. His mom had been far too stunned to move, much less be angry. His father had led Jacob off to his room and told him to stay put for awhile. All anger in that house had dissolved while the parents had a phone conference with their own parents. Didn't help, though. His grandparents didn't want anything to do with that family. ”Here?” He asked, then sighed, ”Attacking a water student by the lake. Reckless fires, really don't think about what they're getting themselves into.”
His brow raised again, ”Not met other waters? What, do you not stay in the dorms?” He'd thought it was required for freshmen to stay at the Academy. It was safer for them and, in a way, the rest of the school. No one got to the kid and the kid's powers didn't get to anyone else. He waved his hand in dismissal, ”No worries. Just look around the dorm tonight, there should be several people willing to make friends. You're obviously not shy, so it shouldn't be a problem.”
Jacob made a face when Alex asked him to go after the fire kid that had got him. Not that he was going to go back on his word, from what it sounded like it was the fire guy's turn to make a move. Jacob reached out and put his hand on the boy's shoulder. ”Seems like the ball's in their court right now. I'll keep my eye out, but since you got him back it might be better if I keep my eyes on you. They like pulling together for revenge, so find some good friends and keep them close for awhile. I'll be around as much as I can.”

"Well it was one of the coolest things i have ever done in my life and it made me look back on things helping me relize stuff." Despite that he had just spoke slightly about his brothers death, he laughed when he heard jacob's story. "Wow she must have been mad huh?" Alexander could only imagine how mad his mom would be if he was the cause of water flying all over her with no particular reason except he was mad. "Yep it happened here but i was the only one around at the time i dont think anyone actually saw it." He said this as the truth. No i stay in the dorms but its kind of been alot to take in and i've just been going to bed not really talking to anyone yet." He planned on meeting the other waters soon he just didnt know when. "Ill try." Being the freshmen Alexander knew that the other waters would probably accept him just like jacob was but other than that he had no real guarentee that the earths would even give him the time of day they might find him a risk to be friends with being as the fires liked attacking water kid freshmens. "You dont have to go out of your way to look after me." Alexander said as he moved his hand over the water trying to get it to follow his hand he thought he saw the water start to rise a little but if it did it fell even faster.

”Oh, well, in that case.” Jacob said sarcastically. It was the kind of sarcasm a person used on a good friend, though—not the insulting kind. He was decidedly of the other opinion on this almost drowning thing, but it wasn't a big deal and hey—Alex had gotten through it. The trooper. The bright blue eyes searched the water for a few moments before he talked again, watching it move, sending little edgings and pushings this way and that to change the flow a little. Since he wasn't going to practice, he certain could have his own little fun.
A single bark of laughter escaped him, and his already pronounced British accent rang out rather more clearly, ”Went bonkers, she did.” He winked at Alex, ”Three days later. Took her that long to get over the shock. Guess it didn't help that we had already been arguing about something when it happened.” Yup. It had been rather odd, that night at the dinner table. They were already freaking out about how Jacob was able to control an element, and his mother just took a sip of water, set it down, and started yelling at him. Jacob shook his head in remembrance. Tasha had started to cry.
”Well, obviously no earth or water students saw if no one came to your aid.” He scoffed, ”Any number of the others might have seen, though. Hopefully being burned was the last of your troubles. They might say they got even and leave you alone. Somehow I doubt that though. Nasty buggers, the fire types.” A sudden thought struck him, and he looked urgently at Alex. ”How much do you know about the academy's politics?”
Jacob nodded, then. ”Yeah, I understand that. Coming here is especially weird for some people.” Like Elaine, that wind girl he'd met a couple times. He'd kept the nasties away from her more than once, by her knowledge or without it. She was very quiet about it, but sometimes the strain of it all just showed on her. ”But you'll be thankful for the effort, in the long run.” He said. ”Having a circle of protection is crucial at this school. I don't envy those that decide to go their own way.”
At the boy's remark, Jacob actually looked surprised. He stared at Alex for several seconds, then burst out laughing, clapping the boy in the shoulder. Fortunately it wasn't very long before he found his voice again. ”Out of my way? Kid, there are rules to this place. People look out for their own, whether their own like it or not. No different for me.”

Alexander chuckled when he heard that Jacobs mom went completly bonkers, His parents were completly baffled but they werent mad at him or anything they just wondered how he did it. They pretty much knew nothing of his power and thought he was at a regular school. "Ya hopefully they do leave me alone but the odds of that are probably slim to none if i know anything about them." When he saw jacob's expression change and he looked to alex, Alexander knew that he was about to ask something really important or explain something so he was not suprised when he asked him about his knowlodge of the politics. "Well i know earth and water have an alliance type of deal, and Fire and Thunder have one then theirs wind who are neutral. But thats about it other than the Fire's hate Water freshmen." He listened to Jacob's bit of advice about having a circle of protection and how crucial it is here he figured it was even more important being a freshmen Alex was kind of confused when jacob burst out laughing until he said that there were rules at the academy and how people look out for their own. "Okay, well then thanks. Im guessing thats you doing that?" He asked indicating the lake and it moving differnt ways.

”Yeah.” Jacob laughed a little as well, ”I'd say keep your head down, but saying that to a water student is like asking an earth student to be mean. We just draw attention to ourselves.” Jacob had gotten over it, but his first year at the academy had been no picnic, either. He'd assumed that since he could move the water in his mother's cup by accident, he could suddenly do whatever he wanted with it. So for the first few months he's been infuriated when he could barely get water not to run downhill, and passed out several times doing it.
Alex's explanation of the alliances was...vague. And not at all warning of everything that he'd have to watch out for. Jacob shook her head, but his tone held nothing akin to exasperation. ”Well, yes. All that is right, but it excludes...things. You only have to worry about most fires for this first year. After that you should be able to defend yourself against them. But the thunders are the ones you've really got to look out for. You cross them, they won't forget it. Ever. And they're always going to be more powerful than you.”
”Basically all fires and thunders dislike all waters and earths. There are exceptions, but be wary of those, too. Now on this side, there are several people who don't feel too much dislike for the others, but that hasn't stopped the wars yet.” Jacob paused in his explanation, unable to think of what to go on to next. While there were many, many other things Alex should know, most of them were hard to put into words. Perhaps he'd have to learn a bit of this by trial and error. Jacob shrugged, then, and sent another rockless skip through the water.
”Hm?” Jacob had to glance at the boy before he understood the context of that last question. The water stopped moving them, as he let it flow back into it's former state. Not out of shyness or anything—hell no—but simply because. He no longer wanted to do it. He nodded, ”Yeah. Came out here to practice, where I was pleasantly surprised to meet you. Don't suppose you've learned any control of your powers, yet?” It would be a miracle if he had. Very few students could at all until their second year.

"I could try but i would just stick out even more i bet." Alex listened to Jacob's explanation of the elements and their alliances. He had figured that the thunder's would always be more powerful but he never thought that in his second year he wouldn't have to worry about most fires."Are you sure its possible for me to not have to worry about fires only in my second year?" It didn't seem likely to Alex but then again he was able to control water and he knew another person who could there were people who controlled fire it seemed nothing was impossible anymore. Alex stared at the water watching it look like a rock was skipping across it while neither of them through a rock. It seemed Alex's question had surprised Jacob as the water let everything flow back to its position. "Oh uh you don't have to stop because i asked or anything."Alex sure as hell wasn't shy but he didn't know if any of the other water elementals were so he thought it was only polite. Alex was unsure whether he could actually control the water yet at all "I'm not sure, but knows as good a time as ever to try right?" said Alex as he held his hand over the water and moved it in a circular rotation slowly lifting his hand willing the water to follow it he was unsure if it was because he had his eyes closed in concentration but if he was controlling it he figured Jacob would tell him. Alex let out a long sigh and fell backwards eyes closed into the snow he could himself that he was conscious. He knew that he was still next to Jacob. He had never been unconscious so maybe Jacob couldnt tell if he was conscious or not. He couldn't tell yet but he would make sure to tell jacob he was conscious soon. Alex wondered if that type of thing ever happened to Jacob, and if it did what he would think by alexander doing it. Alexander decided to sit up slowly to show that he was okay. "That takes alot of energy." center]

”Well, no, I don't think it's that possible.” Jacob amended in response to Alex's question. He shrugged, feeling a keen urge to start practicing. His run had helped to slough off excess energy, but it hadn't done it in it's entirety. Jacob's entire daily routine was meant to build up his stamina and his power, in case he ever had to use either to protect people. Unlike many elementals, Jacob took his power to be at the core of who he was. His goal in life would be to use it for good. Cliché, even when he thought about it in his own mind. But true. ”Older elementals are the more powerful elementals. You've got a strength again fire, but you in sophomore against a senior fire still wouldn't go all that well. But you won't be as relentlessly picked on. For one, you'll have close friends who will retaliate, and for another, it won't be long until you can kick their asses.”
He laughed a bit when Alex clarified. No, Jacob was not shy, nor was he trying to hide anything. ”I know, kid. I practice at this lake almost every day for the world to see—you're not troubling me. I just know it takes concentration to do anything more, and it would be extremely rude to continue while talking to you.” It just went against the grain. He'd been in conversations with waters who liked to make water float around them in the air while they talked, not even looking at the person they were talking to. As much as Jacob loved his fellow students, that was such a pet peeve of his. People looked at each other when they spoke. It was manners.
Jacob opened his mouth to stop the boy from trying to move the water, but he bit back the words. Surprising him while he was trying would only make it even more sloppy and maybe put him out for longer. He winced a little when Alex fell backwards, thrusting out a hand to catch him and deliver him more gently to the ground. One hand hovered above the water, pulling a 'hand full' out and holding it ready to revive Alex with should he actually be conscious. ”Alex.” He said, ”Five more seconds are you're getting water to face.” But he sat up, so Jacob sent the water back into the lake with a flick of his wrist.
Alex spoke, and Jacob chuckled, ”I didn't ask you show me. Trying to control your power without supervision can be disastrous at your level. Especially out here.” He stopped with the scolding, throwing the boy a smile and patting his back a few times. It was just an impulsive kid's actions, after all. ”Until you're sure you have enough stamina, don't do that outside in the winter. If you push yourself too far, you could freeze out here before someone finds you.”

Alexander listened to Jacob explain about how if he was a sophmore a senior could still beat him if it was a fire senior, Understandable Alexander thought. "Ya I guess I hadnt even thought about how much concentration it would take to manipulate the water." Alexander felt Jacob's hand go out to put him on the ground more easily. "Wow I didnt know that falling backwards called for being splashed in the face by water." Alexander said grinning as he sat up. Alexander was amused by how easily it seemed Jacob controlled the water. "What? Your not supervision enough?"Alexander thought for a second and he had been a little wreckless with that he hadnt known what would happen. "Until I know Ihave enough stamina Iplan on not doing it out here even during the summer what with the fires and thunders around here?" Alexander felt A little sorry for doing what he had done but there was nothing he could do about it anymore. "So did I actually move the water or was it a no go? I did have my eyes closed trying to concentrate." Alexander grinned as he said this even though he probably should have warned Jacob that he was about to do that If he had controlled the water it would have been worth it.
