As the girl said she'd ask Caleb again some other time, he realized that she probably wouldn't let up now. That left him with mixed feelings. Incessant pining for monogamy would drive him insane, but at the same time, if she wanted him that badly, he could definitely use that to his advantage. He had a problem where he treated girls like toys, but it wasn't like they ever proved to him that they should be treated any other way. Most girls would play his games, and if they wouldn't, they'd just leave him alone. No one had shown him the error of his ways, and that left him with a poor view of women, and people in general. He manipulated everyone he could for everything he could, and if he wasn't manipulating someone, they were probably doing the same to him. Everyone was in to head games, and that was probably why he had such trust issues, and why he couldn't be in a relationship in the first place. "How about next time, I ask you?" Caleb asked. That definitely should have kept the girl off his back. It'd mean that she'd wait for him to say something, even if most of Caleb told him that he never would. He wondered how long she'd stick around. How long she'd put up with his shit before she couldn't take it anymore and left. This may as well have been a scientific experiment. "In the mean time, I think you'll have to keep working on convincing me," he said slyly with his typical devil may care smile. Yeah, this was going to be fun. Even though he'd probably never end up with her, it didn't mean that he was going to give up on playing around the way that the two had in the past. Caleb hated when people and their dumb romantic feelings got in the way of the good things he had going. But he certainly did his best to make due. "I don't think you have to worry about that," Caleb replied when Mona warned him not to be in another relationship. She obviously didn't know him very well. She must not have been in tune with the rumors that were spreading around the school. Everyone who knew Caleb knew that relationships were most certainly not his thing. They were the bane of his existence, and he only got in them to use people even more than he did already. Except for that one with Cassadee. That was real. But of course, he'd fucked that up and went on a downward spiral that landed him where he was now. Now he was colder, and that was perfect for him. That was exactly what he needed, because it provided him opportunities like this. Caleb shook his head quickly. He wasn't going back to school today. He left on bad terms with a teacher, and he wasn't going to deal with the consequences without having a worthwhile adventure under his belt. "Nah, are you?" he asked. He hoped she wouldn't go back and abandon him here. That would make for a boring day.

Mona did want to know what was up with the whole dating deal. Why people did it. She just wanted to know that there could be someone that wanted to stick around with her, that she wasn't such a complete mess that it made her intolerable to be around. She needed that reassurance for herself. It was all a part of looking to belong, wanting to be a part of things because she constantly felt like she was on the outside looking in. Always solitary, she was now beginning to see the bad qualities of it, the things that were not so appealing to her. She didn't want to be alone. It was suffocating her, realizing that she only had one person and she barely spoke to him anymore. Maybe she didn't deserve to have Caleb, or any boyfriend for that matter. Maybe she should have known better than to ask him out.
She searched his eyes. Though he couldn't see it, therefore wouldn't be able to tell, she looked forward to it. She continued to sicken herself with these thoughts. She believed it may have been the hope. Hope could too easily let her down, and she wanted to keep herself grounded in realism, in the fact that she would most likely go nowhere with this. But he was dangling the lure in front of her, and she was going to bite on it. "All right," she accepted, her voice cool. He probably had some shit to work through, she didn't know. If he had to take time, that was probably it. Otherwise he'd have flat out said no. That's what was going through her mind as she scratched the back of her head, reminding herself that it was desperately in need of a cut. What he said next though was more of a glimmer of hope, something that she could hold onto for certainty. "Oh?" she said. "Any suggestions?" Her eyebrows arched. Even though it was spoken as a lighthearted challenge, she didn't have a clue. She supposed just doing things that would prove herself worthy or something.
She knew that she wasn't supposed to be dating, but figured that was not the problem for Caleb. He was older. Twelfth grade. Mona didn't know about his home life, but figured he was old enough that his parents allowed the whole dating thing. She didn't have that kind of conversation with Pearl yet (and probably never would) but she figured her sister upheld their mothers rules. No dating til sixteen. Fuck that, she was close enough. She thought herself mature enough to understand the responsibilities, even though she made it obvious that she didn't understand all that went into forming a deep bond with someone else. She had proven herself crappy with deep bonds in the past, it shouldn't change now, but the girl believed it could. Caleb said that he was not going back either, and that made her happy, another stupid feeling she wish she didn't have. She didn't want to be happy, especially over little dumb shit like this. "Not going back," she said plainly. "We should get up to something. I don't want to stick around here for the rest of the day." She was coming to hate school more and more. Perhaps the only reason she didn't drop out was because she couldn't. And her sister wouldn't allow it.

Caleb wasn't even sure why anyone would want to be in a relationship with him in the first place. He wasn't the kind of guy that was meant for that kind of thing, obviously, but did people really think that he was? Was there someone with some kind of notion that maybe Caleb Cross was a good guy to date? The kid who slept around with every girl on his side of the alliance, and who was usually too drunk to even have a notion of morality? Was he someone's ideal prospect? Or was it that people thought that they could change him? And if they did, what was the point? Why not just get their hands on a finished product? Some kind of pretty boy who actually cared about people. Someone who used their intellect for good instead of evil. Someone who wanted nothing more than to please the girl they were with. Someone who wasn't Caleb. In fact, the anti-Caleb would probably be their best bet. And yet, people still seemed drawn to him. And that was a shame for all parties involved.
The fact that this naive thunder girl was taking all the bait that Caleb gave her was even more proof that they weren't couple material. He could take advantage of her too easily for any sort of intimacy to form. Not that he'd ever want to form anything intimate with anyone. That wasn't his style. He didn't do that touchy-feely thing, because it left him vulnerable. It probably had to do with the fact that he never had a good relationship with his mother. Maybe she didn't hug him enough. Maybe he shouldn't have subscribed only to Freudian psychology, when it'd been almost entirely disproved at this point. Caleb smiled at the girl as she asked what she could do to sway his decision. Her lack of creativity disappointed him, but it wasn't like he was going to let that on. God knows what she'd do if she found out that he was pretty much on the verge of saying no already. He leaned in closer to her. "I'm sure you can think of something," he whispered into her ear, nibbling on it softly. It was going to be fun to use her this way. People were so fun to mess with.
After pulling away, he was more than satisfied to hear that the girl wanted to stay away from school. That was good, because it'd provide a full day of entertainment for Caleb if all went well. He'd just keep coming up with more ways to use her, and since he was sober, his mind was processing on all cylinders. That was good for him, but bad for anyone he'd set his sights on. And his sights right now were honed specifically on Mona. Pretty Mona, who just wanted to be able to call Caleb Cross her boyfriend. She had awful taste, and that was a shame for her. Because she was in his lion's den now. "Sounds good to me. Though I do like the privacy up here," Caleb said coyly. That was why he liked the cliffs so much - even when others were here, they were never close enough to really make out what you were doing. He came up here to drink a lot. And when the weather was nicer, he'd bring girls up here to screw. Unfortunately, the weather was dreadful at this time of year, and he wasn't sure that he was that persuasive. "Where'd you have in mind?" he asked, certain that no matter where the girl wanted to go, he'd still be entertained. Anything was better than school after all.

Mona made mistakes, but the reason she made them was because she never realized they would be mistakes beforehand. In her mind, Caleb was not a mistake. She couldn't see into the future, how any of this could go wrong because this was the moment, and in this moment he was here and she wanted him.
And in the moment, she didn't even realize that she didn't care about Caleb the way she should have for this relationship deal to work. She didn't seem him as someone who had deeper problems -- maybe she did, but she didn't honestly care -- and she didn't know that this was needed. All she knew was that his teeth on her skin felt good, and a smile curled on her lips. "We'll see," she told him, because if nothing else, she had a chance. She believed she had a chance, he had given her the idea that this could go somewhere.
So he liked privacy? Mona glanced around again. She had to agree, but the reason she came up here was because it was cold. The girl wanted to be cold. She stood. Stretched her arm over her head. If her grades suffered, so be it. If she was making a huge mistake, so be it. Nothing hardly mattered anymore, and all she wanted to do was forget about everything that ever bothered her. "I don't really care, somewhere." She looked at him. "Just come follow me, I guess." She began her path down the cliffside, not bothering to look and see if he was going to come, too.
[this thread can end. and when you get on skype just poke me because i won't see and we can plot, yeah.]
