Robbert seemed so surprised when Lucy mentioned the Netherlands. He was right though, she'd have to make sure it was her first stop, perhaps soon this summer, while it was still warm and the flowers were in full bloom. It'd be so pretty to look at! She couldn't help but dwell on the thoughts that surrounded her, especially those concerning the types of flowers that might grow there. After all, every climate had different plants, even if they seemed the same! Climate, geography, general location... all these statistics and more could very much change the type of plant growth in the area.
"I will," she assured him, "though it might be interesting to see what kind of growth, if any, there is during the winter months, too...." she trailed off, looking rather thoughtful on the whole thing- which, of course, she was. She then snapped back to attention when Robb began talking of his own travel pursuits. "Germany seems nice. I would probably visit the more rural areas though. I suspect you'd go urban to learn more? Though you could probably learn a lot from fieldwork or herbs, too. Sounds like fun!" she could go on about such things forever, just rambling with no clear purpose. It probably wasn't a great quality, but who knows really.
Lucy thought for a moment on what Robb suggested with her powers. She hadn't actually thought about these things before. But one particular thing that he'd said had struck her as odd, and so that was the only thing she'd ended up responding to. "Someone's going to chase me with a knife?" she asked confusedly, and even a bit curiously. Perhaps these Europeans were more dangerous than she'd thought.
She watched in amazement as a plant grew before her eyes, a small white bud appearing upon a stem. How beautiful! She took it gratefully from Robbert, eyes widening for the wonderfulness of it all, and grinned at him. "Thank you! Oh, I'm so jealous of your power! If only I could do that, it must be so wonderful. Is it a good feeling to be able to just sprout up plants whenever you feel like it? I bet it really is. I can only imagine...." she said somewhat wistfully, but not without a smile, for the whole situation had still excited her greatly.

"No, no, you're not going to automatically be followed by a guy in some knife." Robbert couldn't hold back his laughter. Maybe Lucy was even more naive than he was. Looking at her confused was both amusing and a bit heart breaking. It wasn't his intention to scare the poor girl. Though she looked way more confused than scared at the moment. "Sorry, I feel like I'm making you way more paranoid than you should be." Imagine the little blonde girl walking around the streets of Europe looking over her shoulder every time she heard a noise. He didn't want to be the cause of it, no matter how funny it was in his mind. "Just promise me you won't take it lightly."
A small smile crept on his face as Lucy began to ramble. Lucy getting excited and rambling this much wasn't something uncommon. It was an endearing quality. "I do love being able to create you know. If you think about it all of us are blessed with this gifts of creation and destruction." As a practical kind of guy, he sometimes had to wonder how much of life could be pinned down by something like logic and reason. These powers were the closes thing to a spiritual awaken for the doctor in training. Even if science could pin down facts on what made the people in Maple Hollows, there was still an unknown magic to them. "Ever wonder how this has all started. What makes us all able to do this."
Sure Lucy would want to be an Earth elemental, but she had a pretty powerful gift herself. "Please, you have to power and potential to control powerful gales. That's a lot of force." Wind could be used to harness so much power and energy. Wind could help create an alternative energy source that could clean up the world. "Every element sort of benefits each other in a way. As much as some groups of students try to create weaknesses with each other and create conflict, if one of our groups went out it would be catastrophic." Robb shuddered at the mere thought of it. Fighting or a potential war amongst the groups was not something he like to linger on. He did his best to avoid Thunders and Fires just to avoid the idea of conflict.

Personally, Lucy found nothing about being chased by a man with a knife amusing, but when Robbert began to laugh, she couldn't help but join him. Laughter was contagious, after all, or at least, people liked to believe that it was as an excuse to join in. But then, Lucy believed it too. She'd often refer to herself and others as 'people', especially when thinking of ideas or opinions, but it made it sound as though she were excluding herself from the thought, when she was really doing the opposite, especially by standing or sitting and just thinking about it to begin with. She really did have a tendency to over think things. Unfortunately, she always would do such a thing when that much thought was hardly necessary; when she needed to think more expansively on certain things, that was always when she wouldn't, and would end up thinking about something completely unrelated instead. It was, she supposed, just the way her mind worked.
"It's all right." she said with a light laugh, figuring that he must have thought her response amusing and not the actual conversation topic to begin with. There she went again, being overly thoughtful about something so simple. "Okay, I promise." she said, though she thought the whole thing was just a tad strange- promising to stay safe to a mere stranger, that is. Though they had exchanged names and pleasant conversation, and he had even given her something already, so she supposed it wasn't really that strange at all. Were they friends, then? Such things were not out of place amongst friends.
He spoke of his gift in a positive manner, and she could tell he liked it very much; she supposed she should be happy with her own as well. There was no use in worrying over it, anyway- it was what it was, very simply put, and there was no use in wishing it were something else. His words provoked more thought, and for a while she found herself silent, merely watching him. Finally, she spoke in response, or what could be called a response at any rate. "Yes... I suppose there really isn't a way to know. Even all the books in the world written on such a thing can't all be based on fact. Ideas are told, rumours conveyed, and they all turn into stories and myths by the end of it. One can never surely find all the truth in it any longer." she mused, wondering whether or not her thoughts, all strung together in a sentence rather haphazardly, even made any sense when spoken aloud.
"Force doesn't help me much in my line of work. But I understand." she added in response to his speaking of her own power. It was... interesting, to say the least. Not necessarily useful for her own line of work, but for others, yes. She was sure at any rate that she'd find something eventually she could use it for and really feel useful. What he spoke next was very true, and she couldn't help but speak a bit on it herself. "Many people are very tied up in what they think they should believe, such as whether or not they get along with a certain elemental. It's not healthy, though. Why should it matter, really? All it does is create tension, and it may end up in something no one wants or even predicted." it wasn't the most intelligent or enlightening of statements, but it was an opinion at least, and she was sticking to it.

"Thank you," he said. Robbert had had enough tragedy in his life already and he didn't want to hear on the news about some traveller meeting misfortune. Now that he had spend some time talking to Lucy he would automatically jump to conclusion in the future if he heard of something bad happening in Europe. It was his own fault in many ways. Robbert was far too trusting and let just about everyone into his life, no questions asked.
"Who knows what fun it would be if we ever did completely understand it," he mused. Some unobtainable mysteries made life all the more worth living. Humans had an innate need and thirst for discovery. First there was the sea exploration, then the struggle to travel into outer space, arctic territories, back down into the deep ocean abyss. And that was just physical exploration. There were still forms of exploration such as archeology and physiology that pushed boundaries even further. What would humans do with that sort of drive if there was nothing left to discover of figure out?
Maybe this sort of talk was too much for the High Schooler? These were the sort of talks he had with some of his fellow majors after having a beer or two in the confines of his apartment. Probably not the best topic for a stranger, now turned acquaintance at the very least. "Sorry, is this too deep for a first meeting? I often get ahead of myself without even realizing," Robb was having a hard time gauging if Lucy was actually enjoying the conversation or simply being polite. "I hope I'm not keeping you from anything. I won't be offended if you tell me to shut up," he offered her a good natured smile to show that he meant well. When knew that when he was chatting with people he always got caught up in the moment and could never find a way to excuse himself without sounding rude (in his mind).
Hoping to change the subject to something lighter, while still picking Lucy's brain, he shifted gears. "What sort of things can you do with your powers? I don't really know as many Wind elementals I would like and even then, I only really know what my sort of capable of." Wind had to be and interesting power to be dealt. Out of all the elements, it was one that you couldn't physically see do it's work until the damage was done. To control the invisible looking gales had to have been fun on some level. If one was so inclined (like some of his Water friends were), it would be very deadly in the hands of a prankster. A victim would have a hard time finding an explanation for tricky ploys thrown their way.

"Could you, though?" opposed Lucy to the topic of understanding. "Wouldn't it be boring, anyway, if all was known about anything? Not that it would be possible, what with new things happening every day. It'd be interesting, sure, but would it really be worth it to know all that? Discovery is such a wonderful experience, every time it happens, no matter what the outcome... and if you had no more of anything to be discovered...." she trailed off here, but her general meaning was conveyed, or at least, she hoped it was. It was hard to tell; Robbert seemed to understand where she was coming from no matter what the topic might have been, even when others may have gotten lost. Though it was entirely possible that he was just being polite. He didn't seem to be the blunt type, or at least, not as much as she.
Speaking- or thinking, rather- of bluntness, that was the next topic that was brought up. Well, not exactly, but similar. He asked if the conversation was not to her liking, to which of course she shook her head, and then added some other things as if worried that she was only conversing in order to be polite. Lucy gave a slight laugh to this, knowing how she was often told that she acted. "It's no problem, I'm enjoying it. Pretty much everyone tells me I'm too blunt, so don't worry about me not telling you if I'm bored. It's apparently a rather bad trait of mine, bluntness, and all too often occurring." Rambling again... she reminded herself, and then added, "So after that long winded response, no, you're not keeping me. I was just wandering, anyway." she laughed a bit again, thinking of how odd he must think her. Oh well.
Robb then asked her what she could do with her power. He really was a man of many questions, wasn't he? At least their conversations were stimulating, which was lovely for a change. "Oh, you know. Nothing fancy, especially since I'm not going to university. I can make winds and gales and the like, but I'm not really experienced enough to do much more than that, like create a full-blown tornado or whatever." she giggled at the unintended pun, "Blown," she repeated in case he didn't hear it the first time, and then moved on. "I bet you can do quite a bit more, can't you? What with being in university and all. That beautiful plant seemed like just the start of your amazing abilities!" she found herself for the thousandth time, as usual, rambling. Rambling! Why did she always ramble? Especially about things she liked, and earth elementals were definitely on that list.
