Penguins were cool to Adam. That was really good to know. "You are setting the bar for manliness here, A. Real men love penguins." Mona didn't necessarily have an opinion. They waddled around. They were pretty cute, but she was partial to her sugar glider at the cutest animal out there. Maybe she was just a little bit biased. Speaking of manliness, video games were totally manly. Okay, a little better than penguins. But sometimes she couldn't help but affectionately mock him in her head because of all his confidence. "Glad to help you out," she said, tilting her head a bit was if she was doing this as a favor. And he was totally going to wear the suit, wasn't he? That was just too much, too bizarre. She wondered if he was already drunk or what, but she supposed the guy just wanted to take up the challenge and look fly doing so.
She had to balk at the word. Skintanium. He said skintaniunm. She blinked at him, nodded once, and said, "Now you are literally asking to get your ass kicked." There was secret humor behind her words, but one couldn't tell with how serious she said it. But really, for a girl like her, she could be pretty damaging. Mona didn't have any intent to actually seriously harm him, but she was expecting that when she did so he'd get mad and it'd turn into a whole ordeal and she was prepared for that. The girl was pro at destroying her best relationships. She hummed when Adam spoke of the Mona patch, though. "It should be wildly distributed. I mean, how can anyone ever live without me?" It was said with a little more sarcasm than intended, making it self-deprecating when it wasn't supposed to be. She didn't acknowledge it, even though she looked away. God, she was getting real messed up. At least she had her alcohol.
She couldn't help it. Her grin turned mildly inappropriate, and the buzz told her fuck it, he is your best friend, this shit is acceptable by their standards. Not that she reserved her inappropriate humor for her best friend, she just expected him to take it better than some acquaintance. "There is a toilet. I mean, pretty romantic spot right there. And shower sex is pretty good." All right, so she'd never had shower sex but what was a little exaggerating? Made her look cool, even more experienced than she was because obviously she was not a virgin by any standard. Adam mocked her about not being able to stand, and being that he knew her so well he'd understand that she wasn't serious when she pointed at him. "Hey you! Shaddup." It was her best comeback of the night, that was for sure. She was abound with wit that evening.
She took the can from him when he got one, just staring at it for a little while as she wondered just how she was going to get home now if she decided to do her own thing. She didn't know what her brother's plans were, she didn't really know many people, and she wasn't going to call Pearl. She didn't even have the car right now. At his question, Mona rested her head on his shoulder, peering up at him. "I just like sitting with you," she said in the most girlish tone that her voice had ever taken on. "Because you're just so cute." She grinned, and what happened next could be completely blamed on curiosity and alcohol, but she kissed his jaw before moving to his cheek, until her lips were on his and she forgot about the beer now sitting unopened in her lap. Her hands were now on his cheeks as she complete forgot who this was and why she was doing it and she really didn't need that other beer. Mona just wanted to see how he would respond.

"And pink. Don't forget about pink." Because all manly men wore pink, too. It was a symbol of manly toughness, like penguins. Adam tried to wear pink once, but it did not turn out as well as he initially hoped. Maybe he just didn't have the skin tone for it or something. Either way Adam made a note to avoid wearing that color again, at least not of his own will.
He thought his word was pretty genius, and was a bit disappointed that she didn't go out of her way to make any sort of comment. Instead she held onto her threat of physical violence and the Fire could only snort in amusement. The girl could definitely hold her own and he knew that, but even so it was still funny that she was so insistent on beating him up. He smirked at her. "I don't remember saying 'hey, kick my ass'. You're putting words in my mouth and I might have to kick your ass back for that." If Adam were anyone else this could have been taken a little less seriously, but being as he had a tendency to lean towards equal treatment there was definitely a chance he would hit back. Mona was a possible exception, being the best friend and all, but the thought would definitely cross his mind. If you were tough enough to throw a punch, then you were tough enough to get one in return. That was the way he saw it. "Well, I know if I can't then other people probably struggle too. I'll be the distribution manager or something." Managers made good money right? He could go with that.
For a moment, he tried to figure out why they were having a discussion about this. Mona was not some random acquaintance; the images that flashed in his mind did not quite feel right. There was no stopping them of course and there was no way in hell he would mention them out loud. Well, he might. Who knew? "I can't think of a better way to spend my time, watching some girl get her foot stuck in the toilet." His expression was flat and appeared to be unamused, but the light in his eyes said otherwise. It would ruin any potential to get laid again but that would be funny as hell. He thought on her words for a moment. "I guess shower sex is workable. It would suck ass if you slipped and fell halfway through." Yet oddly hilarious, so long as you didn't break your leg or something. He briefly wondered if that would be in some sort of porn bloopers video.
Adam blinked but didn't turn to look at his best friend when she rested her head on his shoulder. That was...a bit unexpected, but he rolled with it anyway. She's drunk. He reminded himself. "Everyone likes sitting with me, Mo. That's a fact." Her complement did make him smile, but before he could say anything his body subconsciously stiffened. The kiss on his jaw almost caused him to close his eyes. Then came the kiss on his cheek. "What are you--" Just as Adam turned to glance at Mona he found her lips on his, and after a moment also found himself kissing her back. It was automatic, like instinct. Though some small part of his rational thought told him it was wrong, it was quickly shoved aside by hormones. He leaned forward a little and grabbed at her waist, attempting to pull her close and deepen the kiss at the same time. Your best friend. You're kissing your best friend. Finally Adam forced himself to pause and pull back, examining Mona's face. "We really shouldn't..." Because they were best friends and no matter how perverted he could be and what his hormones wanted he did not want to take advantage of her.

Mona really should not have used the word 'literally' that was just encouraging Adam. But it was all in good fun, so she mocked that irritating smirk of his and twisted her face in a grimace. "Double dog dare you," the Thunder girl said and she was back in the first grade watching a classmate poke at dog shit and daring him to eat it for her lunch money. The joys of childhood never truly went away, did they? And she knew she shouldn't have been daring him to kick her ass, but that's what her inebriation told her to do. "Threaten him, it'll be fun." It was incredible she didn't get into more fights while she was like this. Maybe it was because she only did this around her friends, and Adam was pretty much numero uno. The only other person who stuck around was Maddie. And she quickly switched back to a soft demeanor, sighing as she pretended to think about this Mona system for recovery. "In a perfect world..." She wished she was more addictive like a drug. Maybe then people would pay attention to her. It seemed like a far off dream now.
She grinned at him, though the expression didn't really meet her eyes. Not for any lack of humor, but just because she didn't think any of her smiles were actually full force anymore. She didn't remember how it felt for her cheeks to hurt or for her to flush from a good fit of laughter. "Neither can I!" she said, spreading her arms out and laughing as if she'd found some delightful similarity between the two. They both had an interest in girls, if that was saying something. She would say the gender was equally interesting to her as the male one--she didn't choose teams, she batted for both. "I just got this really weird mental scenario of old people having sex and then life alert getting involved and questioning what was going on." It was a thought that seemed to be her mind saying, "Hey, slow down on the booze." But she still considered it, and thought it would be a hilarious situation to find two old people in. Naked after fucking in the bath. ...Maybe a little more disgusting than amusing.
Adam seemed to brag all the time, and sometimes she rolled with it. Most of the time she did, but maybe why she made the move was just to shut him up and have him prove what he was capable of. Maybe she was just horny and she decided that the state of friendship did not matter when one was drunk. Whatever the reason, her lips were on his, hands on his face before they slid around his neck. Even though she had not been concerned about reciprocation, it felt reassuring to have Adam gripping her, like it convinced her mind that she hadn't made any kind of mistake. She was looking for excuses in everything to defend her in what she was doing. Adam came to his senses first, but it felt like she would never break the water to take a deep breath of reality. Instead, when he pulled away and said that they shouldn't, she wore a pout, running her tongue over her bottom lip as she remembered the memory of his own. "Why not?" she whined like a child. Mona kept her arms around his neck and threaded a hand in his hair. "I mean, you always brag about how good are you. Can you blame a girl for getting curious?" It was the booze talking and that sensible voice that used to be so strong should have knocked her upside the head and ask what the fuck was up.
But it was nowhere to be found and she was dropping kisses on his neck and he was very warm. She didn't think of him as Adam at that moment, instead he was human being who was living and breathing which meant that there was a possibility she could end up in bed with him tonight. No, it was more than that. He was a friend which mean she could be more comfortable in what she was doing, more assured that he wouldn't hurt her. Or that was what her brain told her. "C'mon we're drunk," she said, giggling even though she might just have been the less sensible of the two. The one willing right now to sacrifice a years long relationship for one night of lust.

If there was one thing Adam enjoyed, it was a good dare. He never liked backing down. There was always a point to prove and you could be damn sure he would try and prove them all. He snorted and watched her, wondering if she was actually serious about this dare. "You don't have to double dog dare me," Adam said with a limp shrug. "I would've done it with a basic dare." Some might have considered some of his stunts to be blatant stupidity but he enjoyed doing something that other people would not dream of doing. To give them the "I told you so" look and pass them the cocky, arrogant smile. Maybe he did have some portion of his brother's personality after all. "In a perfect world detention wouldn't exist, video games would be available in every classroom, the teacher would hand out candy and desert just because, and parents would let us do whatever the fuck we wanted." A more childish outlook on a perfect world but could you blame him? When life revolved around school and dealing with parents there were only so many things you'd love to change. Perspective would certainly change when he got older.
He was not quite sure if she meant that in a malicious way, or if she was implying that she had a thing for girls too. It was not exactly something he discussed openly with Mona despite how often they talked about random (and sexual) things. If she had mentioned it to him he could not remember. Her mental image caused him to laugh; how awkward would that be? Would there even be an excuse to give the people who tried to help them up off the floor? What an epic commercial that would make. "Oh my god. That would be hilarious. I wonder if they would actually tell them, or if they would make something up." He tried to think of any possible excuse but nothing sounded even remotely believable. Except for maybe the fact that they were just...taking a shower together and tripped trying to get out. Either way it would be quite the story to tell the grandkids! Or not. Probably scar them for life.
"Because..." Adam's breath hitched in his throat as he watched her lick her lip, hand running through his hair. The non-friend part of him--the part that was flooded with hormones at the moment--wanted to kiss her again and possibly do something he would regret, but there was a small voice in the back of his head that said it was a bad idea. The alcohol was not helping. Her comment did bring a smirk to his lips. "I'm flattered that you're so curious," He gripped her waist a little, trying not to act as nervous as he felt. "But you would probably forget it in the morning. I like to make things a bit more memorable than that." That was an effective excuse, right? Even he didn't believe that though. Maybe... Curiosity led him to lean in again and press his lips to hers, wondering if he could bring himself to push past the fact that this was his best friend and she was drunk and probably unable to make fully rational decisions on her own. He pulled back and searched her face. He was not so sure if he could do this with a clear conscience. "I dunno, Mo. Maybe we should wait for another time? I like my own bed and everything y'know."
It was hard to try and keep a decent train of thought when the girl was kissing his neck, her breath hot on his skin. Adam allowed the hand draped on the back of the couch to toy with her hair and face, trying to determine what he should do. "Yeah, we are but..." The man of so many words now had none, unable to come up with any other excuses. He bit his lip. Damn, why did this have to be so hard? To fuck his best friend and satisfy his hormones, or try and deter it so he could make sure there was not awkwardness in the future? It was hard to think, to determine what was truly best at the moment. His thoughts were clouded. "Maybe...I should just take you home. Or something." But what if she said no? What if she kept pressing? There was only so much he could do or say to deter this. Another drink would be nice. At least he wouldn't have to have this inner battle. He could just do what he wanted and try to forget this happened. Of course drinking was what caused this problem in the first place. Damn, damn, damn.

Well wasn't Adam just a badass? Maybe in the beginning of their friendship she might have thought that, believed he was just the coolest thing ever. But now he was as close to her as her family. No, actually, now he was closer than her family because they were nowhere to be found as of late. She had to agree with him on his view of the perfect world. "And don't forget that we wouldn't need money for anything." That was what her history teacher would like to call anarchy, but she never cared for economics and this was just their imaginations coming up with perfect scenarios that would never ever happen. And she would love being able to get things without money, which they were tight on and used for only food and clothes. Even then they seemed to always be low on it. She couldn't help but blame her sister, but she knew the only reason she did that was because she was so bitter. Pearl was not terribly irresponsible, but she did have a social life.
Imagining poor old wirnkly folk collapsed in a shower only made her grimace. While Adam laughed, she shook her head slowly as if disapproving of the fact the he saw it as hilarious. Mona was simply too skeeved out at that point to find an ounce of humor in that situation. "I don't think old people have boundaries anymore," she told him, thinking of her grandmother. "They're badass enough to say, fuck yeah we were banging in the shower." She came from a military family, her grandfather had been a Seal, so she grew up with a badass family that would be happy to say they boned in the bathtub. She wished she could see them more, but a lot of them lived too far away for her to spend any time with. They didn't have the luxury of being able to fly out to see people any old time.
The better part of Mona was nowhere to be found, not even in her mind as she gazed at her best friend who she really wanted to make out with right now with half-lidded eyes. The better part of her would remind her that this was not what she wanted to be like around Adam, that she didn't want to be this in general. For him, she wanted to stay the same girl she'd always been--proud, blunt, and humorous. Now she was just...drunk. And she hated that he could come up with an excuse, that he could look at her and say with a cocky smirk that he wanted it to be memorable. "Says the most romantic guy in the universe," she said, recalling their woodland adventures when she remarked that fucking in dirt wasn't fun at all. She blinked when she felt his lips on hers again before letting her eyes close, trying to sort through things in her head. He was the master of mixed signals at this point, but she would be more than happy to go along with the physical affection. But he pulled back again, and she looked back at him wondering what was going through his head. Did he really think this needed to be memorable or would he just shrug it off and kiss her again? She rolled her eyes, and said, "Yeah, I know. Can't bang in a bathroom, no way." Despite anything she might have said before, in this state of mind she'd be willing to do anything, anywhere. Unfortunately it was not how she would have felt sober, and Adam was the one in this right here even though she was irritated by the rejection.
So she was hoping she could sway him. A bad decision on her part, but it would just be a night of bad decisions for her, it seemed. If she thought about it, she'd have stopped herself from ever making a move on her best friend, would have just kept this a platonic night. But her thoughts were foggy, her body making more sense to her at this point. "It won't even matter, will it?" she said, when he agreed they were drunk, lifting her mouth up to his ear. She was trying to seduce him, something that her sober-self would have been screaming no to, and that girl was somewhere inside her, pulling her hair out and crumpling to the ground. No consequences in mind, she just let her lust take control, and she was still intent when he said that maybe he should take her home. She wore an indignant pout. Home? Where Pearl was, ready to sneer at her and ask her how her night went? Where her family would stay in separate rooms and never speak, not even when they went out to the kitchen to get food or ask their mother for money? She'd rather be anywhere but home. "I don't want to go home," she mumbled truthfully. Realizing that Adam really didn't want this, she resigned to crossing her arms and saying, "You can take me anywhere else. But not home." Even to his place would be better, but she'd probably have to refrain from seducing him there, because after all that would be where his bed could be found.

Wouldn't it be marvelous to have no financial worries? Adam would love to live his life without wondering how they were going to pay for everything, or be able to afford nice clothes. Before moving to Canada things had been rough; when Collin was tossed behind bars Molly was all on her own in terms of supporting the family. It was not an easy time, to say the least. He was glad Greg decided to stick it out and help them. The boy had a silent respect for the man. Anyone who was willing to go to those lengths to help a family he did not even know in the beginning was a big deal.
Adam was still entirely amused by this image and ignored Mona's disapproving shake of the head. It was probably wrong to find old people problems funny but he simply could not help himself. If you knew you had arthritis or hip issues then why try and do something like that? He did not understand. Oh well. The image still made him chuckle. Then he stopped and passed Mona a curious look. "I wonder if some of them are shameless enough to tell their kids their sex stories. Or their grandchildren. 'Back in the day when I was young and spry...' Oh god, I would be scarred for life." He would not be able to handle that. Imagining two old people falling over one another in the shower after an attempt at sex was one thing but to have your own grandparent flesh out their horizontal tango was not exactly ideal. It made him inwardly cringe. Do not want.
Despite how unsure he felt about this entire situation, he kept a smirk plastered on his face as he looked at her. His eyebrows rose just below his hairline. "I am the most romantic guy in the world," He replied, allowing the smirk to fade just a little to show disapproval in her words. "But even if I prove it to you, you'll forget it. That's no fun." Play the game, just play the game and see if there was a way to deter her. Adam did not want to ruin his friendship with Mona, no matter what his body was screaming for him to do right now. There were surely bedrooms upstairs, and the girl seemed more than eager for it. Damn conscience. Damn it all to hell. Even though the beer had affected him and the room spun in a very unpleasant way, even kissing her the second time did not completely erase how guilty he felt just thinking about taking advantage of her. Adam shook his head. "Nope, no bathrooms. Disgusting. And I would laugh my ass off if you fell in the toilet anyway." Which...was pretty much true. There was truth to his words at least.
His skin formed goosebumps and a shiver subtly ran up his spine as her lips neared his ear; Adam closed his eyes briefly and leaned in to cheek to reach her ear in return. "Maybe not, but you never know. Is...that what you would really want though? I might have AIDS or something." He knew for a fact that he was clean but maybe in her drunk state of mind it would help keep this from going any further. Adam was not quite sure if he could continue to deny her if she kept pushing. Hormones could only hold back for so long, especially under the influence. His response had caused her to pout; what was so wrong about going home? It was not like there was much left here at the party anyway if she was this far gone. Besides, someone else might try something and if Adam found out about it there would be hell to pay. For some reason him having urges to fuck his best friend was acceptable but anyone else here was worthy of a punch to the face. Logic was definitely not his strong point. He thought on her words for a moment, trying to decide what they should do. Going to his house could potentially cause a problem but if Mona did not want to go home there was really no other option. It was not like he had a lot of friends he could trust Mona to. He sighed. "Okay okay, not home. Don't whine about it. Let's...go to my house then. You just have to be really quiet and all that good shit okay?" Because Molly asking questions would not be good, and Adam was not interested in answering any of them.

Mona was pretty chill with old people. They did their own thing, pooped in diapers, ate unappetizing hard candy. Her own grandmother was a hardass, but luckily she didn't have to see her too much. She remembered when the woman saw her nose ring and tried to rip it out. That was a fun old visit. "I don't know, man, old people are weird," she told her friend, drawing out the last word. She was trying not to laugh at his use of spry, but she was grinning. "I mean, my grandma just likes to tell me stories from her days of hard partying with the other cigarette girls." Damn, her grandma was old now that she thought about it. And she still seemed to have so much energy. Probably because she was always yelling when Mona saw her, like no one could hear her unless her voice rose above the level of a jet engine. Good pair of lungs, too. And it was disturbing to think that that woman's daughter would most likely die before her. She closed her eyes to block out that thought. She shouldn't even have been thinking at all.
It was much easier just to act, and that's what she did with Adam. Though his response was not the one she had wanted. Why couldn't he have just shut up and let her kiss him? "Don't predict how I'll wake up tomorrow," she said, clicking her tongue when he was saying he didn't want her to forgot, looking confident as always. Good excuse though. "I mean, I could remember. Unless someone roofied me. And if that happens, the chances of me waking up with a tiger in the bathroom are higher." She believed she could have a pretty good chance at remembering, but this was liquid courage. That's what all of this was. She would never have made a move on Adam otherwise. Her sober thoughts out have just labelled it as...dirty. She rolled her eyes at him, and it was like they were just back to normal between the two of them. "I don't think my ass can even fit in a toilet." Then she tilted her head, frowning a bit. "Actually, I've never tried." She used the toilet for normal toilet things, though there might have been a night similar to this where she ended up in one. Adam was right, she could only half-remember nights she got completely hammered.
Mona smiled, but snorted when he spoke of having AIDs. She knew the effect she was having on him still. "Oh please, I know you Adam." She shook her head. It felt like she would know something like that about him. He was her best friend. Yet there was so many things about him that she hadn't known were going on, like with his father. It wasn't like she told him anything anymore, either. She didn't talk to anyone. Adam knew part of it. He knew about the cancer, everyone knew about that. It's what made her want to walk away from any conversation where she could just tell her partner had information on her mother, she could see in their eyes that all they wanted to do was some hand-patting and faux-support. She didn't know if she could deal with that anymore. The prospect of the Fire boy's home was an enjoyable one, though. But who knew. It could be possible she'd get less horny on the ride to his house. She didn't really want to be, but eh, it happened. Going outside did well to sober her up, usually, but seeing as the summer heat didn't allow for very cold nights who even knew. "Are you ashamed of our love?" she said dramatically when he told her she'd have to be quiet. And then she was giggling, cupping a hand over her mouth. "Do you think your mother won't approve of me? Woe is me!" She knew Molly and hoped that the woman liked her. Hey, she hadn't gotten Adam into much trouble. Then again she hadn't always been a huge trouble maker. It could be said differently for these days.
She moved back from Adam, heaving a groan before pushing up from the couch and wobbling a little. She blinked, trying to move past the head rush she had gotten. Yay, alcohol. Mona shook her head a little before looking back at Adam, her expression blank with a new thought that had just occurred to her. "Oh fuck you can't drive!" She groaned again. "You suck man. I am not walking home!" She could barely walk as is. And this could be tacked on to abnormal Mona behavior, as she never whined. She was the one who lectured her younger siblings for whining. "Do I even have bus fare," she mumbled, searching her non-existent pockets. Her night just kept getting worse and worse. First rejected, now being sent home. Well, to Adam's house. Whatever. Both ways it absolutely sucked.

Adam was not attached to any portion of his family outside of his mom and brother. Collin was in jail and any of his grandparents were probably somewhere in the United States. Molly never discussed them much so he did not know much of anything family-related. Probably for the best anyway; Adam was not the friendliest person and anyone related to his father might be caught in the crossfire of his anger. "Those stories must keep you on the edge of your seat," He replied, appearing as enthused as a child that was being forced to eat their vegetables. "I mean, fuck man. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my day." Essentially he was avoiding mentioning to Mona that he did not have a grandparent around to tell him stories. Well, unless he counted Greg.
He did not look entirely convinced that the following morning for Mona would be anything short of a hangover, but he would let her think otherwise and only offered her a shrug. He knew for a fact that he was gonna feel this shit in the morning; he just hoped that Molly wouldn't try and pry and figure out why he was lounging about in bed all day. Maybe he could just turn on the TV and pretend like he was playing video games. Adam blinked. "A tiger? A fucking tiger. What, did you go shopping at the zoo or some shit?" That would actually be incredibly fun and wondered if there was a way to get into the zoo at night. How crazy would that be? Then again, ensuring you were sober was probably a wise idea unless you wanted said tiger to make you a midnight snack. There was a spark of interest in his gaze, though. "We should do that sometime. Go zoo shopping. I want a kangaroo. Those guys are bad ass." Anything but, say, a wolf.
"Tch," Adam scoffed with a classic eye roll, "Please, you could fit perfectly in the toilet. Better that than being fat, yeah?" Not that being extremely skinny was healthy but he preferred seeing skinny girls. Maybe he would mature and not be as shallow? Maybe.
Mona had a point there: she did know him. Probably better than anyone else in the world, and that made him feel vulnerable at times. There were plenty of things she could probably use against him at some point or another. So far, so good. At least nothing had been shared among other people. He hoped so anyway. She still knew very little about Collin though. "Yeah, and sometimes I wonder if that's a good thing." His expression was serious. "But hey, gotta have at least one person who knows you better than everyone else." There was a brief glance in her direction before he diverted it elsewhere. She really was one of the only people he could lean on without having to say much of anything. Silent support. He was just glad he could make some sort of attempt to divert Mona's hormonal urges away from his person, though his own hormones were equally disappointed in rejecting the girl. His insides screamed at him, telling him he was fucked in the head and crazy for turning her away. "I'm so ashamed, Mo," He sounded completely convicted with his own words. "We aren't supposed to tell people yet remember? Forbidden love and all that good shit." He loved the girl but not that way. She was as close to a sister as he'd ever get, probably.
Yeah, there was definitely the fact that he couldn't drive. And they were drunk. Yay. This was going to end well. He tensed his shoulders a bit at her response though, blinking. "Well excu-use me. I'll be sure and hi-jack a car next time, just for you." He had seen enough of those movies where they hot wired those really hot sports cars. Maybe he could have a go at it. He watched for a second as she searched for money and dug into his own pocket, grabbing her hand and settling it in her palm. "Here we go. Money to get us to the house. Just don't trip all over the place or I'll claim I don't know you." He warned with a brief glare. His balance was not that much better but oh well.

Mona really did love her family and the people in it, including her grandmother. Which was why the separation took its toll. She didn't know how to handle this, the fact that so much had changed between the siblings. "I'm always riveted," she said dryly. Despite her nonchalant demeanor, she really did pay attention to the stories. She listened to her relatives even when her siblings didn't. And she still did, no matter how much she changed her core would always be the same.
Rolling her eyes, she sighed, exasperated as if she were explaining something simple to him. "Apparently, that's what happens when you get roofied." It was better than being raped, at least. It was something she never thought about enough to fear, because she refused it as a possibility for her. She was careful, yes, but she didn't want to think of the fact a drink she had might be spiked, that she could be taken advantage of. If she had thought about it more, she would realize that it was a very deep fear of hers. "Zoo shopping?" she deadpanned. "Why a kangaroo, though? Unless you're planning to set up kangaroo boxing." Or a kangaroo fight club, though she supposed she shouldn't have mentioned it then. Whoops. She was at least serious about why he thought kangaroos were so cool. Tigers were much more bad ass than kangaroos.
Adam informed her that she could indeed fit into a toilet. She furrowed her eyebrows like she didn't know how to take his words. "I guess?" she said it like a question, before she was unable to hold back laughter. "So glad you've noticed how fit I am." In actuality, she wasn't fit as she should be. It was noticeable, but she weighed herself often enough to realize she was dropping pounds when she had no reason to be. She always had been at a healthy weight, and she supposed dropping weight was stunting the growth she should have been going through right now.
She met his serious expression with one of slyness, as if she was thinking of everything he'd ever done around her that may have been embarrassing. As the best friend, though, her lips were sealed. "Hey, man, look at it this way. You've got as much shit on me." That was true. Mona was far from perfect, she had her bad habits and her embarrassing moments. A lot more of them than she would have liked, and she wondered if Adam remembered them. She tried not to, but they often came to mind when she was trying to get to sleep and every bad experience from her past decided to keep her awake. "Woe is me," she crooned, throwing her head back as she rested the back of her hand against her forehead. "When will it ever be the right time for our love to be revealed? You need to tell your mother that you're actually a woman." It was the only reason she could think of as to why their love would be forbidden. And she was not making herself the pretend man. And heavily intoxicated, imagining Adam cross dressing was a lot funnier than it should have been.
It was was a good thing she wasn't too irritated or it would have turned into an argument about a car that did not exist. "Think about that the next time. Maybe you can hotwire a ride for us?" It was said seriously, and at this point in time she didn't know whether or not she was serious or joking or what was going on. Hell, did it matter anymore? She was out of her mind, and he was right -- she wouldn't be remembering any of this by morning. But Adam pulled through and she might have been nice and claimed him as a god if he didn't give her the warning. "I'll try my best not to trip over you house, Adam, wouldn't want anyone to know that you got totally hammered tonight." Ignoring the fact that she was hammered, too. At least she would truly hold true on that. She didn't want him getting into trouble.

Adam did not look entirely convinced, but decided to let it be for now. He still could not understand how you could possibly have a tiger in the bathroom, unless he missed some sort of joke. Maybe he did but there was no way he was going to ask. "Yeah, zoo shopping." He replied, still ignoring the fact that he possibly missed something in the whole 'roofie' conversation. His eyes did light up at the prospect of kangaroo boxing, though. "Hell yeah, that would be awesome! We could probably make good money off of something like that." But would that be like a more wild form of dog fighting? That could possibly get them into some deep trouble and although Adam did not mind pushing the envelope winding up in jail was the last thing he was interested in right now. Adam did manage to flash her a small half smile when she laughed; he was not completely ignorant of the struggles she was dealing with so hearing her chuckle and smile was good. "I'm the most observant person on this planet," He boasted, brushing off his shoulder for added effect. "I notice these things. I could be like...a detective or something. Like Sherlock Holmes." Only without that weird looking hat.
Maybe he did have as much shit on her, but he supposed that that was a sign of their friendship? The fact that they at least trusted one another enough to know that they would not use these facts to cause harm or manipulate. Adam did not have those sorts of intentions with Mona; despite his demeanor and how he acted as though he did not care, he really did. If anyone messed wit her, they messed with him. Mona could probably hold her own but that did not stop Adam from feeling protective. "Yeah, true," He finally agreed, shrugging and acting like this was not a really big deal. Oddly enough the boy trusted his best friend not to spew out his secrets or quirks that were only visible to those he was closest to. He laughed when she tossed her head back and put her hand to her forehead, rolling his eyes. "If only she could believe that, but I'm pretty sure she knows that I have a dick. Unless I tell her I had surgery without her permission." Which would be so incredibly awkward. Molly would probably pass out from shock and Asher would freak. They did not need any more family drama; Collin was enough to last a lifetime.
He made a face and sucked in through his teeth. "Oh, that's Asher's area of expertise. Sorry Mo. And there's no way in hell I'm gonna ask him for help." Asher would just lecture him and spend the next week giving him disapproving glares and threatening to tell mom. He might have been the older brother but their relationship was not constantly mature.
"Good, let's...uh, let's go then." He hoped that no one would be awake at home, that they could somehow manage to get inside without making noise. But he was past a buzz and Mona was even more so. With their luck they would fall over one another in the doorway and Molly would hear. He wandered to the bus stop, and only got on when he was sure Mona would follow. This night was not something he wanted to speak of again, not that he would fully remember everything. Making out with his best friend and nearly taking her to the bedroom was something he preferred to forget anyway. Hopefully he could come up with a good excuse in the morning when his mom found them sleeping in his room.
