Sandra actually liked most of her classes this year, which was pretty weird. Last year she'd taken fairly demanding classes, though -- this semester, at least, was much better. It wasn't like there was less work or anything, but she was glad that these were things that interested her. Her Global Issues class was fairly interesting, and it was only helped by the fact that she sat next to Jensen and, even when things got particularly boring, they could at least talk or something like that. Today there was no shortage of interesting things, though -- they were watching some brief news segment, and while Sandra almost always found herself falling asleep while watching videos, this one had actually managed to keep her awake. That was enough, honestly, for her to enjoy the class. Even in classes she enjoyed, she usually had difficulty staying awake, but today when the bell rang to signal the end of class (very loudly, since this room was pretty near the bell tower, dang it all) she got up without all that mess of having to stretch and yawn and what-not from taking a nap. Nope, Sandra was in fact pretty proud of herself for staying awake this particular time. Good job, self.
She wondered if Jensen ever got annoyed with her talkativeness. While she hadn't said much during class -- again, they'd been watching something that was actually pretty interesting -- she was now right back to talking as much as ever... Maybe more, since she'd spent that whole period quiet and all. Sandra tried not to talk much during class, though, because she really didn't like when teachers were upset with her (for reasons other than napping in class and not handing in homework, at least, which were just two facts of Sandra's life at this point)... After class was a different story, and as soon as the teacher had shouted, "See you tomorrow!" over the din of scraping chairs, Sandra had hopped over her desk to join Jensen where she was still grabbing all her things. Well... if the girl did get annoyed, that was kind of tragic, but it wasn't something Sandra was really planning to change. "I'm so hungry!" They had lunch now, so she supposed that was better than having to go to another class. "Seriously, I wonder what the mess hall has today..." There was supposed to be a schedule, she was pretty sure, but she couldn't remember what it was -- they had changed it this year and she hadn't yet adjusted. She slumped over onto Jensen's shoulder, or rather onto the strap of her backpack, pretending to be weak with hunger or something. She wasn't really, though, but she hadn't had much of a breakfast that morning... By now, it was kicking her in the gut -- metaphorically, but it felt like it was pretty literally.
(...wow, this is a really bad first post, i'm sorry. :/ they'll get better, i promise. i'm a little out of it today.)

you're something to remember, global issues had not been a class that jensen had willinging opted to take. sandra had convinced her that it would be an easy class, all she had to do was pay attention. that was the problem that jensen was having currently. when the lights dimmed and everyone got quiet she found it hard to keep her eyes open. while the desk was not comfortable her pack turned out to be very cushioned and able to work out as a pillow. she was thankful that sandra was more controlled and able to stay awake, which meant that if anything crucial happened she would later be able to relay all of the details. it was handy, but most of the time jensen did not have the patience or concentration to listen to her best friend. that was no fault of sandra’s, jensen just really did not like to waste her time listening to boring things. global issues was a class that was about as boring as things came. there was not a single class that jensen had been able to go through being fully awake. even if it were only a minute she dozed off, no longer listening to what the teacher was saying, no matter how important it was to her maintaining a good grade. february was only the second month in the school year and already jensen had formed a habit of choosing to sleep instead of paying attention to what was actually happening in the class. she was not one of the more productive seniors.
the news segment that had played for the whole class had not gone through to jensen at all. if the teacher had asked her to give a summary on what they had watched jensen would have never gotten off the hook. luckily it seemed that the teacher cared for the class as much as the students did, which was not very much at all. lunch was next and jensen could not even work up her appetite, she was far too busy with sprawling herself out on the desk while she dreamt about savate, of course. her dream was very surreal, leaving her to believe that it was actually reality. the bell was what woke her up abruptly, leaving her surging forward and nearly falling out of her chair in surprise. the other students shuffled out immediately, already done with packing up their things and slinging their bags over their shoulders. sandra was still by her side, looking about as lively as jensen felt. she carelessly slid all of her things into her backpack, knowing that she was probably going to make a mess of her backpack later anyway. she was never one to rely on organization. “maybe you should eat breakfast in the morning. a cereal bar or something. maybe a muffin if you’re feeling daring,” jensen replied, giving her a grin that lit up her face, replacing the tired and worn look on her face. she lugged her heavy pack onto her shoulder, just as sandra slumped onto her, looking weary with hunger. jensen easily supported her, dragging her along effortlessly. “the only way to find out is to go and see. c’mon you lump, i’m hungry now,” jensen whined, continuing to drag her tiny friend along. It was weird how Sandra and Jensen were even friends, all things considered. They weren't exactly the most compatible of people, at least not by anyone else's standards -- there was Sandra on the one hand, naive, innocent, maybe not really timid, but not without her comfort zones either. Then there was Jensen, and Sandra couldn't even think of words to describe Jensen except for maybe crazy, unpredictable... rambunctious? Okay, Sandra's everyday vocabulary wasn't really big enough to properly explain her best friend, but to be fair, it was probably the differences holding them together quite as much as it was the similarities -- which did exist! They were both, after all, Waters, and therefore both social by default, both just liked to have fun. Sandra didn't really let herself get dragged along to parties, and she in turn didn't expect Jen to get excited about shopping or anything like that. Hey, Sandra couldn't explain everything -- she just knew that it worked. Why fight it? She rolled her eyes good-naturedly at her friend's words. "I do, usually! Just not today," she said, shrugging a little bit. At least Jensen didn't look so awfully tired as she had just a few seconds ago. Then again, talking and the prospect of food was enough to wake anybody up. "I just woke up late today, forgot Matt had an early class... but pfft, muffins are hardly breakfast." Sandra had set an alarm and everything for this morning, even, it was just that... well, she'd hit the Snooze button about five times. Usually her brother was there to make sure she got out of bed, but today she'd gotten up late and had had to skip breakfast in order to catch the bus out to the Academy.
It would have been difficult to forget that Jen was so strong, especially when she did things like this, just dragged Sandra along easily. She wasn't really so much smaller than Jensen, just a few inches shorter, and they probably even weighed the same if Sandra was any good at estimating... Still, she didn't even have to walk, just let herself be pulled along. That wasn't really fair, though, and it made going pretty slow, so she heaved a huge sigh of long suffering and got up off of her friend's shoulder, starting to walk along properly. They'd probably wind up stuck in line for a few extra minutes now because of that, damn it. She really had to think these things through. "Heyyyy, I am not a lump. Plus you could probably carry me like, fireman style." Okay, that was actually doubtful considering their relative sizes, but hey, she'd learnt over the time they'd known each other that nothing was impossible. "Hey hey hey, Jen," she said kind of excitedly, "you should carry me around to class and stuff. I'd pay you, even!" She was kidding, obviously, but seriously, Sandra's laziness knew no bounds. The part about payment her was definitely not for real, though -- she couldn't afford that!
